I have been ordering like crazy the last few weeks and it is all arriving! I love when the UPS and FedEx men arrive at my door! My kids still ask every time, "Is that for us or the store?" Too funny, it's always for the store! Anyway, I just placed orders for more Maya Road sheer albums, Maya Mist, and chipboard albums. I ordered Little Yellow Bicycle's Frightful and some of the new Ranger Stickles from Product Performers. My Imaginisce order of "All Kinds of Happy" shipped already. I'm waiting on my shipment notice from We R Memory Keepers of the new Christmas line. Clearscraps, Fancy Pants and a huge Creative Imagination order all shipped and shoul dbe here this week! The Design Team had a meeting last week... we are all overwhelmed with Summer activites and trying to keep up with the board, blog, and weekend workshops has taken it's toll... so... we have made the blog more of a store news bulletin board. Denise will be posting updates, etc. to the blog as she sees fit.

The DT will post things on occassion just to inspire and share... don't forget about the awesome challenges on the board and we'll see you in the forum!!!

Wednesday Spotlight

My spotlight this week is of the one and only...Lora! I think Lora does a wonderful job on her layouts and keeping all of us design team members in line...which is a full time job! LOL This layout of her house is one that I think is soooooo good. It is a great idea to scrap a picture of your house because it is something we take for granted. I know I wish I had more photos of the houses I grew up in. Great memories!!! So first off give Lora a shout out for her awesome layout and second go and take a photo of your house. There is a "Home is where the heart is" layout in all of our futures!!

August Guest Designer

Our August Guest Designer is no stranger to the 2SassyScrappers community. She has been instrumental in numerous things for the store and the forum. She was one of the first people that greeted me and welcomed me in to the 2 Sassy "family". You will always find her active during our crops, challenges, games, and swaps.

I have been inspired by several of her gorgeous creations. Her personality and presence just make her even more of a wonderful part of our world. I could go on and on about how much I love this scrappy lady, but then you'd never know for sure who I'm talking about... so....

Our August Guest Designer is Tracy (scrapfaerie).

Please help me welcome her in to the 2SassyScrappers Guest Designer Series!!! Here are a few words from Tracy.

Hi, my name is Tracy (scrapfaerie) and I live in Newport News, Virginia with my wonderful husband and our beautiful little girl who will be 4 this year. She is truly the light of our lives. It is really because of her that I started doing this wonderful obsession. I have been scrapping for 3 years and love it. I never thought of myself as someone with any artistic ability but when my friend introduced me to this craft, a whole new world opened up for me. I also love to alter items as well and have been known to give my creations out as gifts!

I have been a part of this community for over a year and am very honored to be a guest designer. I have learned alot from all of you and I hope that I can inspire you the way you have inspired me.

You'll be able to see her gorgeous creations with the KaiserCraft Grunge collection, along with the rest of the Design Teams creations, on August 1st. Be sure to check out her challege, which will be post in the forum on August 1, as well.

Wednesday Spotlight - Zowie!!

I started the Kids Challenge a few months back. Our little scrappers really cranked out tons of pages during our Birthday Crop and NSD Crop.

Last month their challenge was to make a layout including the following:
3 things you love about Summertime
2 bright colored papers (red, yellow, orange, green, blue)
1 Summery photo (it can be a Spring photo... but it has to be something to do with outside)

We had one entrant, but it was her first page. I have to say that her page looks MUCH better than my first page did.

Congrats, Zowie for being the chosen member spotlight this week. :)

Marvelous Monday...Product Review

I am in love! Cosmo Cricket has come out with a fabulous new product called Blackboard! This is a chipboard material that is black instead of gray. You can cover it, use rub-ons, paint it, use colored pencils or chalks on it...just about anything...and the greatest part is that there are no icky gray exposed edges like regular ol' chipboard. Just beautiful, striking black edges! Like I said, I am in love! You are going to want to stock up on this wonderful product! Check it out at the 2 Sassy Scrappers Store!

Here's a layout I made using some Blackboard letters decorated with white rub-ons.

I challenge you to try a new technique that you wouldn't normally do on a layout. Maybe it is stitching, painting, using glitter, or even some fabric scraps! Mix it up a bit. You may find it is something you would like to incorporate into more layouts. For "My Girl" layout, I really tried to incorporate some journaling- something I find difficult to do allot of the time!
Also, much of the papers are from the Pink Paislee Office Lingo Line. Have a safe and wonderful weekend.

Guest Designer Friday Challenge

Our June Guest Designer has a fabulous project for you this week... It will get you in the mood to hear some crackling fireworks!!

How to make these Awesome Firecrackers!!!!!

Hello everyone, I really enjoyed being your Guest Designer for the month of June, I will had a blast!!!

On to the challenge, well we have one week to make these awesome Firecrackers for your July 4th Celebration!!! These will work perfect for you and me, because my son Josh will be turning 13 on the 4th of July – my firecracker is growing up!!!!

What you’ll need:

Toilet or paper towel cardboard tubes

Red, white and blue pattern paper

Embellishments of your choice

Glue

Ribbon

Tissue paper

Foil spray

Instructions:

1. Cut and glue patterned paper around cardboard tubes.

2. Decorate with embellishments and ribbon

3. Fill each tube with tissue paper, leaving the top 2 or 3 inches empty. Place foil spray in the tubes to make fun "fuses." And now you have an awesome 4th of July centerpiece.

Spotlight on ATC's

Recently, in our swap area on the message board we have started doing ATC swaps. ATC stands for artist trading card. You make a miniature masterpiece and share with others in the swap. 4th of July Mini Book

Here is a fun little mini book for all of your 4th of July photos. Take some sheets of left over cardboard, and cut them into 6x6 pieces. These will be the base of your book. I then took all my cream, red, and blue scraps out to cover the book. Pick out any color combo and get rid of some scraps! Denise has a red coil for the Bind it All that was just perfect for binding this book. This will get your holiday popping!

Wednesday Spotlight - Tracy

July 2008 Guest Designer - SusieQ

For the month of July, we have an awesome lady as our Guest Designer. I faithfully watch her blog to see what her latest projects are. I smile when I see her latest paintings. I love to see her latest layouts and projects, of course. It was so fun when her blog had an anniversary, because she had a week long contest and I won one of the prizes! That isn't why we asked her to be the guest designer... however, when my prize package arrived... I knew we had to ask her. Included with the great scrappy goodies was a hand painted and glazed pumpkin stack. The shadows and detailing impressed me greatly. I know that little project wasn't something she did in a few minutes... although as good as she is, maybe it didn't take too long...

It is very interesting to me to see the wide variety of artists we have in the scrapbooking community. Of course, we have those that decided to start a craft for the first time and they chose to scrapbook (Which I have to say was an great choice on their part!). But, then we have people like this month's guest designer who were drawn to scrapbooking after years or a lifetime of another craft... by choice or by necessity. I have found if you are an artist, you will always be an artist and you can't take that out of who you are. No matter what, you will find a way to keep those creative juices (lovingly called "mojo") flowing.

So... without making you wait another minute, please join me in congratulating and welcoming SusieQ into the 2SassyScrappers Guest Designer Series. I can't wait to see her projects on July 1. Please stop by the Guest Designer board in the forum and drop her a note and remember to give her some love for the projects she is creating.

I am Sue Kithcart aka SusieQ which has been my nickname since I was born and if you want to know the story behind it, you will have to check out my gallery.;-) I have a terrific husband! 1 adult daughter and son in law and 2 adult sons (even though 1 does not act it!) and 1 great daughter in law. 3 grandsons! 1 terrific elderly dog! 1 pretty betta fish!OH and Daughter is working on getting preg. so cross your fingers for the granddaughter!

I started scrapbooking in June of 2001 when I was invited to a Creative Memories party and my grandson was only a month old. My grandsons are my favorite topic! But since I am also a very long time decorative painter, at first that took first place until in 2004 I started having some health problems and could not paint as much and suddenly I became obsessed with scrapbooking and a year later I served on a Dt for 1 year and have been obsesses every since! I still paint and teach occasionally and even sometimes incorporate it with my scrapbooking but I must admit that I fear it has become a major addiction!

My big dream is to meet at least one of my online scrappy friends because they are the only ones that really understand this obsession!

I have 2 bits of advice! Number 1...Always scrap from your heart. Number 2... When doing a layout remember that you are trying to sell the photo(s), in other words You are trying to draw the eyes to the photo!

Blooming Layouts

Happy Friday! For the Friday challenge this week I want to see a layout or card with photos of flowers. I love looking at all the beautiful blooms that are out this time of the year. I bet you have a few favorite photos of your garden or someone else's garden that you love. So let's see it!!! Scrap it into a master piece and post it here. There is a RAK involved so show me whatcha got!

My layout was from my recent trip with my hubby to Kansas City. Their farmer's market is awesome and we just happened to be there on Mother's day weekend so they had tons of great plants and flowers. I used a hodgepodge of manufacturers on this layout but I like how it turned out. Thanks for looking!
