First Look: Stills From The Dark Knight Returns Animated Film!!!

This will be the animation EVENT of the decade! I have been eagerly anticipating this ever since they did an homage to Frank Miller and ROTDK on Batman The Animated Series;

For those of you not in the know, The Dark Knight Returns is set in a near future where Batman is retired and Gotham City has slid into a dystopian state ruled by a gang of hooligans called The Mutants. The 55-year old Bruce Wayne is forced to don the cape once more, this time partnering with a female Robin to not only stop the Joker but keep the peace when the city falls into chaos after being hit by an electromagnetic pulse.

The animated feature will be released in two parts with the first expected to hit home video in the fall of 2012 and the second the spring of 2013. Peter Weller (pictured first) will provide the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Ariel Winter will be voicing Robin, and David Selby (pictured above) is also part of the cast. It is being directed by Jay Oliva, who storyboarded Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman movie Man of Steel, from a script by Bob Goodman.

That's what I thought when I saw the familiar red, white and blue armor of "The Iron Patriot" worn by Spider-Man's nemesis Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin.

Actually, it's actor James Badge Dale ("The Departed," TV's "24") as Eric Savin. In the comics, Savin is a soldier who is gravely injured in a land mine explosion and reanimated as a cyborg called Coldblood-7. It looks like the movie merges his character from the books with the Iron Patriot armor. Would've been cooler if it was Osborn.

When I heard of Adam Yauch's (MCA of The Beastie Boys) passing, I was devastated. I can distinctly remember hearing "Fight For Your Right" for the first time at my first girl-boy party in the sixth grade, and thinking; "what is this? It's incredible!" And that was it - I was hooked for life!

I'm extremely thankfull for getting to see them live not once, but twice, and would like to say thank you to Adam and the boys for enriching my life in such a way. These artists have also paid their condolences in the form of these fantastic tributes that I found on Creep Machine. Rest in peace, my brotha!

Mick Jagger did the hosting duties for SNL this weekend, turning out a formidable performance on a variety of sketches, but he truly shined while performing "19^th Nervous Breakdown" and "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll" with the Foo Fighters! Watching this, I cannot believe that the man is 68 years old!! I'm only 39, and I was out of breath just watching!

While still a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army at Camp Killian, Eric Savin was put in charge of Project: Ultra-Tech. There he met the love of his life, Lieutenant Gina Dyson. While on patrol, Savin stepped onto a freshly planted mine which blew him into pieces. He was dead for 2.3 minutes. Gina immediately performed cybernetic surgery on him. The surgery was successful — Savin was alive, but resurrected as a cyborg by Mako's Project: Ultra-Tech. Dyson, his former lover, aided him in battling Mako and his robots, and apparently slew Mako in combat.^[1] The "7" in Coldblood's original name was stated to be a mere wordplay on Coldblood's real name "Eric Savin", as his surname is pronounced in the same way.
