Though the seeds have been called beans due to its shape, they are not true seeds. India is where the seeds primarily originated from but they grow in Mediterranean and tropical zones nowadays. Since the ancient times, Egyptians normally store castor seeds along with prominent figures in their tombs. In fact, the Greek historian Herodotus mentions about the medicinal properties of the oil.

Some studies remark on the poisonous properties of the seeds since they have ricin proteins. In some areas, the leaves may also contain the ricin. Thus, seeds can harm and be fatal to those who think they are edible in raw form. Also, the excessive intake of the oil form can also cause diarrhea and death. History tells us that Mussolini used the oil to torture political prisoners before so this simply implies that a physician would need to be consulted especially if a child is to take castor oil.

Castor oil for babies are not as popular as using it for adults or adolescents. The reason for this is because parents fear that the oil may harm the baby. Then again, castor has been used for inducing labor and it did not present any danger to the baby or the mother as long as extra precautions are observed.

Castor oil benefits babies in terms of providing organic moisturizer for the sensitive skin and scalp, removes blemishes and warts, relieves aches and pains. Since the skin and scalp of the baby is still very sensitive, it is important for the parent to make sure that the skin is not broken since the oil can sting. The skin and scalp can be moisturized and the softness is maintained. Blemishes and wart growths can be prevented and eliminated with proper application of castor oil. Just be certain that the oil is warm and not too cold or too hot. Since the oil is also used as packs, parents must ask a physician if this method is recommended for babies. Remember to have a health care provider advice you of the natural treatments you can do for your baby.

Not only from damage, but from the extremely nifty fingers in operation at airports, hotels and around crowds. Two things will protect your rods while in transit between countries. The best is a piece of four inch plastic drainpipe cut in a length of 6ft 2in. On one end is glued a fixed cap, on the other a sliding cap; screw on a cap or something which can be chained and/or padlocked. Put your name and address on the outside, making sure it is folded over and not visible for all the burglars who frequent airport departure lounges, looking for baggage addresses that tell them you are going on holiday for a week or two. If you haven’t thought about it before, now is the time to tape your baggage labels so nobody sees them.

The plastic drainpipe, although very secure, is a bit on the heavy side. You can use the inside of a commercial roll of floor carpet, which is compressed, reinforced cardboard, and can be obtained, usually free, from a carpet shop. Cut this to the 6ft 2in length which allows for beach caster sections. Tape a piece of cardboard firmly over one end using masking tape, then when you’ve got your rods in, tape another piece of cardboard or plastic over the other end. It is a fixture of course, so maybe if you don’t have too many rods, you can shove some tee shirts or socks down the tube to stop the blanks rattling around. Keep a roll of tape with you, because customs officers at the other end may want you to cut it open to see inside. If you take reels and they are over 30 lb class, take them in a small grip bag as hand baggage. You may rather do that, than risk them going amiss in transit, besides which it keeps your weight down overall. If you are close, or slightly overweight, take your partner’s passport and ticket, and then get her to sit away in a corner with all the hand baggage. What the booking handler doesn’t see, the excess payment can’t get. Try not to get stroppy if you are caught with an excess baggage claim, as they are entitled to weigh your hand baggage as well if they want to. Keep a spring balance in your grip bag, and if you are allowed the usual 20kg baggage allowance, pack both suitcases to around 22kg. If you lay the rod tube on the scales it often touches both sides of the machine and doesn’t register. With trolling lure they should be OK in the suitcase. Wrap them in a sock to stop them getting shattered when the cases are thrown about.

Most cars takes a 6ft 2in rod tube, including desperate taxi drivers by putting it in through the front door, sliding to the opposite rear corner, then easing the rest across the dashboard. If you take a fishing knife for cutting bait, put it in the suitcase as the security men will only take it away from you before you get on the plane. They give you a receipt and tell you to collect it when you disembark. If you have some big shark hooks, put a mask on the points.

Who doesn’t want to go overseas, and come back home being able to speak another language fluently? It’s a pretty common dream, right? So what are you waiting for – make it happen! Whether you’re heading to Spain, Germany or France – spending the time to learn the nuances of another language and being able to speak to the locals will add so much to any travel experience.

I always like to point out that learning another language is HARD WORK. A lot of people seem to skim over this fact, as if it is irrelevant. It’s not going to take you overnight, in fact it’s going to take you months. It means hours of intensive study and a sore head whilst your brain tries to take in everything that is happening around you. Give it some credit though, and give yourself the opportunity to make this work. Hitting the pub for a drink once or twice a week and ordering a beer in the local language is not going to do too much for your language skills – sorry!

One thing that I find a positive way to start your new foray into another language is doing an intensive language course. I wouldn’t call them cheap – but if you’re focused on doing this then this is a fantastic way to go about it. It’s generally total immersion (doing it from 9am to 5pm) and then living in the country as well as doing the intensive schooling. You will see results with this if you put in the work required.

One small tip with choosing these courses, think about selecting a town or city that isn’t the “popular” one – what you’ll find is that the popular choices will be full of other English speaking people doing the same thing as you. Great, right? Well it is for your social life – but not so much for immersion and learning that other language that you originally set out to do! So maybe look into some of the smaller options where partying and speaking English won’t take priority over learning that language.

In my opinion, moving to the country that speaks the language you want to learn is one of the best ways to learn. Forget schooling and one night a week study nights at home – go the total immersion route and reap the benefits.

Whatever language you want to learn (in fact, why stop at one?) – have fun with it, 2 months in when you’re having basic conversations – you know that it’s all been worth it.

It’s not just another way to cook, it’s an expression of creativity while creating wonderful memories. There’s nothing like a summer barbecue surrounded by friends and families who are eager to dig in to your culinary creations. When you get everything right, you’ll be met with smiling faces and complements about the way you grill. Of course it takes a little bit of effort to make sure that everything is perfect. You can’t just buy a bunch of frozen burgers and throw them on the grill while expecting everyone to be happy. In general, the more effort you put into the process, the better your meal will be and here are some simple tips to boost your barbecue experience even more.

Always maintain your equipment – it all starts with your barbecue equipment so make sure that you keep it clean. This might seem like a simple statement but you would be surprised at how many people put off regular cleaning. Each time you fail to clean your barbecue, you are allowing for a buildup of grease and residue that can potentially interfere with the cooking process.

Never go with frozen – there are lots of options these days to make your barbecue process seemingly easier with frozen products in grocery stores. You can even find boxes of pre-flavored steaks or chicken wings that might cook faster than regular food. But any time you use ingredients like these, you are depriving your guests of an authentic barbecue experience so make sure to go with fresh products every time.

Remember flavour – the great thing about cooking on gas grills is that you’re going to get a certain amount of flavor anyways. But if you don’t add any other elements, you’re just skimming the surface of what you can do with modern grills. Don’t forget about marinades and the strategic use of herbs and spices. And remember, barbecue sauce is meant to complement your food not to dominate the taste. Make sure to use it liberally and consider coming up with your own recipe.

Side dishes – it’s not all about meat and the simple addition of great side dishes will elevate your meal to a whole new level. Can you imagine a barbecue experience without any potato salad? There will always be some standards that should make it onto your menu, and side dishes are also a perfect opportunity to try something new.

The cooking process – it doesn’t matter if you’re using the latest gas barbecue or a simple charcoal grill, it all boils down to the process. Keep in mind it never has to be complicated and the less flipping interning you do – the better. One of the biggest rookie mistakes is constantly flipping food until it loses all of its internal moisture. If you want to simplify things, then remember the general rule that all you need to do is cook food on one side and then flip it over once. Once you are able to get that perfect sear on the initial side, you can flip it over and wait until the process is done. Try to get a general sense of timing by touching the food gently with your utensils or by using your sense of sight. Do not however, cut into your food in order to see if it’s done!

Retirement can be something people look forward to for years. They can see the light at the end of the tunnel after some many years of working day in and day out. But many people find that retirement is not at all what they expected, or wanted. The truth is retirement takes some careful planning. People are living far longer in today’s modern world. Its no longer unrealistic to expect to live 10 or even 20 years in retirement. That is an awful long time to spend not enjoying your life of not working anymore.

It is not uncommon for a retiree to realize that all that time they wanted to spend on their hobbies and activities is not near as fulfilling as they expected. They have just so much free time on their hands and nothing to do with it, nothing they find rewarding at any rate. This is where careful planning comes in. When you are thinking about retiring you may want to take it out for a trial run. Take a leave of absence from work, or a long holiday. See how you cope with all that free time. More people than not find that work was very defining for them and without that day to day routine, they are all but lost. These are things you need to find out far ahead of time so that you can have a plan implemented so that your free time doesn’t cause a loss of self-worth, self-esteem or worse yet catapult you into a depression.

Volunteering can be a great way to keep yourself not only busy, but feeling useful. There are no shortage of great causes and organizations that have great need of volunteers. Age doesn’t have to be a barrier to maintaining a meaningful and useful life, one that gives you great personal satisfaction. Retirement is a great time for you to relax, it should not be causing you stress or anxiety. If you are find you are becoming depressed or listless you would be well advised to consult a physician or psychologist.

Finances play a big role in how you perceive your retirement. Everyone should be well advised to start a retirement plan of one sort or another so as not to be left with a financial hardship once the work week leaves them behind. This again could very easily take a wonderful time of your life and turn it into a very depressing period. Talk to a financial planner or your banking institution to learn all of the options that are open to you. You didn’t spend decades working day after day just to worry about money, Retirement doesn’t have to be that way.

When people talk of lucid dreaming, they usually do so with the assumption that it carries a one on one translation to being the same thing as controlling the dream. Many would say that this is the definition of lucid dreaming. Books on the practice affirm this, with titles as simple and direct as Control Your Dreams.

But how many lucid dreams have you had in which you could control very little of yourself or your environment?

Furthermore, and more important, how much of what’s around you did you control in any real sense? If you find yourself in a dream where you’re taking a stroll in the park, and you know you’re dreaming, who controlled the placement of each individual tree? Who controlled putting a sidewalk here and not there, the sun to your east and not your west? Who made the decision to make it rain in distance?

When we look at the dream environment in a larger context, lucid dreams typically have only very small elements of things we have intentionally placed there through conscious control. The vast majority of the experience and the environment was already there when we arrived.

In this sense, we have very little control over our dreams – even in lucid ones.

A more accurate description of our role would be that we have influence over the dream environment. Flying, making things appear and reappear, and so on, are all common things people make happen in lucid dreaming. However, isn’t it fascinating to think of all the uncontrollable elements in the dream along with where and how they manifest?

Consider talking to a dream character. You ask him or her a question and you have no idea what they’re going to say or do in response. This is unscripted and unfolding live before your eyes.

What mechanism is it that allows such a thing to happen? Is it another part of our conscious or unconscious mind or is there a separate type of intelligence at play in the dream world?

I do not have the answers to these questions, but I’m inclined to say whatever happens does so because of a physical, brain based or consciousness based explanation. But that does not take away the brilliance of it nor my desire to understand it.

What about you?

Replacing your old slide thermostat with a new Energy Star approved digital programmable thermostat can save you 33% on your yearly heating and cooling bills. It is thus not a matter of whether you should buy a programmable thermostat, but rather what digital thermostat you should get.

The first thing to consider is the type of heating and cooling you have. If you have 2 stages of heating and 2 stages of cooling, you will probably want to get a Honeywell thermostat as they are compatible with 2 stage systems. The same goes for those with a heat pump.

The next consideration is what type of thermostat is best for you. The idea is to get one that you can program to match your daily movements so money is not spent heating/cooling an empty home. If you are retired or work at home a basic 1 week thermostat with just a single program is fine such as the Honeywell RTH221B Basic Thermostat. If you have a standard 9 to 5 job but keep different hours at the weekend then a 5-1-1 thermostat such as the Lux Products TX1500E is probably suitable. It has 3 programs to set up: one for weekdays and one each for Saturday and Sunday. For those with a complicated schedule a 7 day thermostat that has a program for each of the week is advisable to get.

If you live in a climate zone that gets very hot in summer or very cold in winter then a Lux Products or Hunter thermostat with swing control is best. This lets you set up a range around the set point temperatures within which the thermostat does not activate the heating or cooling. Swing control stops the furnace and air-con constantly clicking on and off.

If you go holiday a lot then a thermostat like the Honeywell RTH8500D touchscreen or the Lux Products TX9000TS that has a vacation mode is a good bet. These devices let you set the thermostat to keep the HVAC ticking over while you are away, and then makes the house comfortable for your return.

Finally, if you are worried about humidity in your home then there is the Honeywell TH8321 Vision Pro that detects spikes in humidity levels and uses the air-con to reduce the humidity levels in the home to a comfortable level.

It is very much worth your while to do your homework before buying a digital programmable thermostat. The right device will make your home life better and cheaper, the wrong device will just infuriate you.

There are lots of reasons why people don’t get as much exercise as they should, but there are very few of them that actually make good excuses. Even if you happen to be extremely busy, there’s no reason why you can’t interject a bit of daily activity into your life. Of course it all boils down to your priorities and how you perceive overall fitness. Some people know it’s important to be healthy but it takes a back burner to everyday things like family obligations or going to work. Just remember that your health impacts every aspect of your life eventually. After all, you’re going to have a hard time looking after your family or going to work if you don’t have good health at your disposal. That’s why it’s imperative for you to figure out ways to get more exercise on an ongoing basis. It doesn’t have to be hard either, and here are some simple tips.

Leave the car at home – there have been studies done to show how much time people spend driving and waiting in their cars. By the end of a lifetime, a person might have spent the equivalent of several years just sitting in a car in traffic. Imagine the things you can do if you spend this time more wisely. Obviously there will be some situations where you absolutely have to take the car, but there are many instances when you can simply leave it parked and walked instead. This is a great easy way to interject a bit of health into your daily routine.

Take the stairs – when was the last time you actually walked up or down a staircase? For many people, they can’t remember the last time because they are so used to taking escalators and elevators. While it’s not going to burn off a lot of calories, it can have a good cumulative effect if you start taking the stairs more often. At the very least, you’ll give your body a short burst of exercise.

Get out and play – playing is not reserved for children and it’s something you can do no matter how old you are. There are plenty of opportunities to combine exercise and fun in creative ways. Whether it’s going to the park to throw a frisbee or engaging in team sports, there are plenty of exciting ways to have fun while getting fast. Don’t be afraid to explore the possibilities while including your whole family at the same time. Remember, good behaviour that you exhibit has a positive impact on everyone around you.

Take Dance Class – a lot of people don’t associate dancing with exercise, but you might be surprised at how much activity is involved. After all, have you ever seen a professional dancer? They have toned and lean bodies with very little body fat. Obviously you don’t have to strive for that level, but something as simple as learning how to dance can help you to get back into shape. If you have ever wanted to learn how to Samba, now is the time for me to point

Join a Gym – the gym will always be a point of contention especially for people who are adverse to exercise. Some people start off incredibly motivated only to let their memberships go to waste. They convinced themselves that they will never be tricked into a long costly contract again. There are many others however who enjoy going to the gym or setting up something like an exercise bike in their living room to use home exercise equipment. There are many opportunities to go at your own pace and going to a gym can be a wonderful social event as well. Whether your aim is to simply get healthier or you have goals for fast weight loss, going to the gym can present you with wonderful opportunities for exercise.

You have removable dentures, tooth bridges and dental implants. Out of them all, though, denture implants are considered to be the best type of dental prosthesis and for obvious reasons – they are strong, comfortable and replicate the natural looks of your teeth the best. However, the prices for dental implants range from 1000 dollars to 6000 dollars, and most people can’t afford them. You may want to learn a few ways to get pretty cheap dental implants, though.

Dental Implants are Not Expensive

First, we want to emphasize on the fact that dental implants are not expensive to make, contrary to what many people would think. A lot of folks will say that the materials used to create a titanium implant are very costly, and they think that is the reason why they are so expensive, but in actuality, it only costs 5-10 dollars to make one titanium implant. Later, the dental implants are sold to dentists for 100-500 dollars, and after that, the dentists set their own prices, which is, as we’ve said, from 1000 to 6000 dollars depending on how much a particular dentist thinks the procedure is worth.

Try Dental Schools!

Okay, so one way you can get cheap dental implants is if you obtain them in dental schools. Notable schools in the USA include the ones in New York University, University of Southern California and University of California, Los Angeles. Do remember that you will be treated by inexperienced students, and although they are supervised by more experienced dentists, the results will be above average, at best.

Try Dental Tourism

You should also consider going abroad. Mexico, Thailand, Hungary – those are among the many countries that are very popular for their dental tourism facilities. The streets in certain cities of Mexico are literally filled with dental offices with banners that try to cajole the tourists into going inside the buildings. Most Mexican dentists have graduated from American dental schools, and testimonials say that patients are in general very satisfied with the dental work in that country.

Other Ways to Get Cheaper Implants

You can also try to convince your dentist to pay him with your credit card. If it is clear that you can’t afford the implants right away, there will dentists who will offer you special payment plans, and sometimes they will be with little to no growing interest. Also, there are offices that offer “free dental implants“, like Nadic Dental Centers in Nevada, Las Vegas, so check them out, as well.

In order to purchase a micro-cap stock or any stock for that matter, you have to do your due diligence and use a decent broker. Believing that a micro-cap stock is any different from a normal stock is a myth that can cost you a lot of money. With that here are 4 tips to picking the best stocks:

Tip #1 – Do your Due Diligence

Research is important. Do not skimp when it comes time to find all the information that you can about a company, their business, and management. Value every dollar that you invest, regardless of where that dollar came from. When doing research on penny stocks there are a number of specialized research services. I always look for a research service that does not invest in or have any connection at all to the companies they recommend. Independent research is vital in speculative investments. Never buy investments from unsolicited offers, tips and, prospectuses. “Pump and dump” brokers often put out this information in order to drive prices higher and then scalp the market.

Tip #2 – Stay Away from “Unknown” Companies

If a quick Internet search does not turn up any information on a company or its activities, it is probably time to walk away. With all the information available today, no information equals no trade. There are more than 9,000 stocks listed on the pink sheets. There will always be another trade if the one you are looking at presently does not pan out.

Tip #3 – Know The Business

Understanding the business your potential investment is in makes a huge difference. Knowing the industry trends and the things that set your company apart from the competition is the best form of analysis you can have at this juncture. In addition, knowing if the current management team has the ability to lead this undertaking can be determined by looking at their past records from other companies and start-ups.

Tip #4 – Go Liquid or Go Home

Determine the amount of interest the market has in the micro-cap equities you are looking to acquire. The interest or volume of trading on the particular issue will let you gauge the amount of liquidity there will be when you get ready to sell your investment and take a profit. Following just a couple of precautions can save you thousands of dollars when it comes to investing in penny stocks.

For more tips on trading penny stocks, you can visit www.buypennystocksguide.com which provides a pretty good introduction to penny stocks and micro-cap equities.
