A paint bomb attack against the Indonesian Embassy happened May 24,
2012 in the vicinity of Makati, Philippines. Around 1am a group of people started to throw a black paint to the wall and inside the perimeter of the said embassy. After that they left leaflets on the scene stating “FREEDOM TO EAT AND BILLY, FREEDOM TO ALL THE VICTIMS OF STATE REPRESSION, STOP THE ENVIRONMENTAL DESTRUCTION, INDONESIAN STATE IS THE REAL TERRORIST.”

325 receives and transmits:

Every so often, cyclically, collective or social anarchism becomes restrictive to some anarchists and an anarchist individualism reasserts itself. It happened at the turn of the twentieth century when some of the great anarchist thinkers began to question some of the more communistic dogmas. It is happening once more, and once more we witness some of the social anarchists writhe in panic as their comfortable dream is disturbed and they wittingly or unwittingly reinforce the stranglehold of the State by condemning their unruly sisters and brothers who appear to threaten the pursuit of what one comrade has aptly described as ‘civil anarchism’.

It is a horrible creature, this civil anarchism. A slathering, craven and despotic monster with eyes in the back of its head which tries to be what anarchism will probably never be – palatable to the modern consumer masses.

One of the major qualities that those engaged in making attacks seek is to recover knowledge of themselves and each other, to recover personal power, to enact a radical and dramatic break from Society, with its intolerable cage of the social norm and the consequent deadening of individual sensibility. Some communiqués from this tendency are flowery and poetic in the extreme, and are not to everyone’s taste, but reading an Anarchist Federation statement is deadening. It is the materialist death-march of politics against life, the patriarchal voice of ‘political reason’ against the wild rebel spirit, of the political against me.

The combatants seek to recover volition and dispel the inauthentic. This can only start from your experience, not from the experience or dogmas of others, although it involves your relationship with a few comrades within “the mass” or the “working classes”. Until it is active, on the street, there is little genuine struggle to be found in some abstract crowd of people you have no relationship with. It seems incredible to read the thoughts of those that identify as (Formal) Federation anarchists and even more pointless to have to critique it. It is a bit like critiquing the performance of a clown by the standards applied to a serious drama. The issue for me here is the same denial of individuality that the State imposes – some herding of unique human beings into some utilitarian category by pedagogues and masters who find the individual unwieldy and dangerous, but find an abstract ideological cage immensely comfortable.

This lack of authenticity and the somewhat anachronistic politics of their “revolutionary organisation” as a whole, is reflected in the Federation’s outrage at the shooting of Italian nuclear boss, Roberto Adinolfi and the letter bomb sent to the Chief of the Italian tax office Marco Cuccagna. The Federation disingenuously manipulate the facts with regard to the latter in order to prostitute their particular ideology by describing the boss of the tax department as a ‘worker’. Not only is this insulting to anyone’s intelligence, who can see quite clearly that the target was one of the bosses who rob them every day of their hard-earned wages, but it is puzzling because they pretend to ‘care’ about the suffering of these targets and to state categorically that ‘the working class’ care too. If I am being authentic to myself, then I can say I do not care a bit if this bureaucratic robber is attacked, injured, killed. Actually, I am happy about it. I imagine many people would also not care and may even feel some satisfaction and even joy at the news.

Some basic questions of the Federation which do not really require answers: who are these “working class” people you speak of; how many individuals who make up the “working class” do you personally know; how do you know that all these people disagree with attacks on capitalist infrastructure, bosses and tax collectors; what gives you the right to speak for anyone but yourself; what do you say about the “working class” people who rioted in London in August 2011 (and throughout history)? To even ask these questions seems ludicrous, but a quick look at Federation discourse seems to necessitate them since they seem so sure of themselves.

The Federation/Libcom mindset continues with its psychometric assessment of supposed “terrorist tactics”. They borrow another meaningless spook from the hostile media and the State – the mindless, indiscriminate anarcho-insurrectionalist-“terrorist”. Again, how many of these individuals does the Federation know, and how does the Federation know that such acts are not part of a rich and more complex life. Furthermore, to state the obvious, insurrectionist methods are widespread amongst the disaffected of the world, as widespread as ‘organising’, and sometimes have more in common with “working class” rebellion than anything the Federation comes up with. The Federation is tellingly silent on this reality in the main, preferring only some parental nod to “working class” anger that could be so much more constructive if only the unruly would acknowledge the wisdom of Federation physicians and swallow their prescriptions.

Here the Federation again reveals itself to be incapable of liberating itself from the shackles of ideology: that denial again of the complex human being and its shunting into some useful abstract category. But as we look at the Federation’s reactions to other anarchists, it actually becomes more sinister, in that they are frequently almost indistinguishable from our enemies. It’s choice of forum is the internet. A brief review not only of critiques of technology, but also experience of it, reveals how destructive this form of faceless, mass interaction is. Furthermore, the language used by the Federations is akin to experiencing the fist of repression coming down on the human face of anarchism. The Federation reinforces the State, by adopting the rhetoric of the industrial-military-technological system, such as its aforementioned recent condemnation of anarchist “terrorist tactics”.

In the quest for liberation, the individual must be allowed to express itself, to follow itself. The individual is not always at odds with the collective, but to try to squash individual drives into some collectivity or society against its will is totally useless. The individual will sooner or later rebel because a mass collectivity forged at the expense of the free individual will entail rules and regulations (albeit informal or even unspoken) which are against liberty of life, feeling and thought. These tendencies have been at war before, and it is worth reading the essays of Voltairine de Cleyre on this matter with her suggestion that the individual anarchist be free to express their rebellion in their own way. Violent attacks against the bosses and the State will alienate some people, but not all. Pacifist action will alienate some people but not all. Even if we could once and for all identify every “working class” person and also get them to agree that they are “working class”, do the Federations really think that this mass of people will hold one homogenous view on social change, on the causes of misery and on the best way to liberation (if all agree that liberation is their goal). The civil anarchists are searching for a purposefully driven conscious proletarian class which no longer really exists in the manner they describe as a revolutionary subject in the West. They have embarked on a hollow search which ends in sterility at the level of the actual uncontrollable mass social clash, and anyway largely failed to follow their own politics through to their conclusions.

The separation of people into classes is in some ways a nonsense when it is not based on their individual opinions or actions. A brief look at Native American history, as one example, shows us how banal and inaccurate it is to speak of ‘the Native American people’ in one homogenous outpouring of bad breath: there were indigenous warriors fighting genocide and assimilation and there were also indigenous folks who colluded with the American State and turned on their own people to accumulate money and power.

Those of us who might be allotted the label of insurrectionist, individualist, and/or nihilists do not make perfected claims to knowing how revolution will come about. There is a great humility in the words of the emerging rebels and armed struggle groups. I would say that at this point in history, when so much has been tried and so much has failed, let us admit that we do not know what is right, what will ‘work’. People are far more complex than that and the world is huge.

The Federation’s distillation of everything down to “working class struggle” is problematic. The working class as it used to be has all but gone and anyway, like democracy, it was originally rooted in horror and lies for many. Democracy was invented on the backs of a Greek slave class and the Industrial Revolution first imposed the destruction of the individual and introduced ‘the dispossessed herd’ as it ushered in this age we hate. Focusing on the “working class” in this way is like shuffling between different forms of oppression, saying that we prefer that form of oppression over this one: people fought tooth and nail against becoming subsumed into a “working class” at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. The assimilation of artisans and rural peoples into the industrial working class was bloody, so why some anarchists are attempting to reify it now, especially now that the machine has moved on and is now subsuming the traditional working class into the post-industrial consumer class, is not just questionable, it is bizarre. They are all simply stages in the grinding progress of the machine and we would do well to abandon all of these chimeras. This is not to deny that a class struggle has always and continues to be fought, but I prefer the term “social war” to “working class struggle” largely because it includes more individuals and their choices, including those who consider themselves traditionally working class. Class as a concept and as a social binder has become increasingly muddy over the years. People can be more crudely divided – if we must – into the rich and the poor, the included and the excluded, the critical and the uncritical regarding the State and civilisation.

To be denied individual autonomy, recognition and relationships causes alienation and disempowerment. The authority of a ghostly mass over the individual does nothing except assist the project of the State and capitalism by agreeing that the individual human being is nothing more than an economic unit or a vast and faceless aggregation of economic units. Is this really how we wish to define human beings and do anarchists really think that such a perspective is liberating? To negate the role of individual action in favour of a vague conception of the “class-struggle” of yesteryear is a dangerous fiction. Certainly, since it is also the project of the State to destroy the volition and value of the individual; it cannot be called revolutionary, except in the autocratic uber-political sense of being ruled by statist apparatus – none of which desire empowered individuals or like-minded groups of individuals who want freedom. It is not the role of anarchists to replace one tyranny, be it “democratic”, monarchist, collectivist or any other kind of rule, with another.

What is this ‘issuing of statements’ condemning the acts and opinions of others who consider themselves anarchists? It is to play the political game of ‘good anarchist’ and ‘bad anarchist’ for the media and the repressive machine of the police. It is to undermine the very meaning of the term ‘anarchy’; a complicated and shifting web of principles, praxis and relationship with the goal of liberation which is not a singular state of being, no more than it is a State.

Moreover, the fact that the Federation feels the need to make statements against acts of other anarchists must surely show them that their project is doomed. At the end of the day, I say to the Anarchist Federation and their fellow travellers: I do not agree with you, I do not desire the world you envision. I say I am not alone in finding your statements and perspectives antithetical to my own rebellion and my personal concept of liberation which is based on my understanding and experience of State oppression. And since your project depends on the absolute agreement of the mass of which I am a part, and since it appears from the debates and statements of the Federation that what is envisioned is a mass anarchist society, I declare that I want freedom not only from the State but from Society and you. I ask then: what are you going to do about me?

I began this article by essentially wishing to encourage those of us who call ourselves anarchists to cease mutual condemnation and to assert that actually not one of us has the “answer”. However, I end by sensing that some of “us” know so little of what it means to be liberated in heart, thought and action, and so little of what class solidarity and struggle really means, that I can only imagine an anarchist society such as appears to be the aim of the Anarchist Federation, would be as fraught with repressions and various prisons as this one. That is, unless those who would impose their faceless societies on the rest of us realise their futility.

How many deaths will it take before this inhumane tortuous prison conditions are shut down and England stops killing prisoners?

Having been on Woodhill Close Supervision Centre (CSC) for under a month, prisoner Michael Parr set fire to his cell after 11pm in a deliberate suicide attempt. Unable to cope with the conditions of the CSC he set about barricading his cell at a time he knew nobody would check on him, then set a fire which took around 20 minutes before staff noticed it.

After about 45 minutes of extreme smoke inhalation, Michael Parr was dragged from his cell, unconscious, smoke blackened and dripping wet, having been hosed down. He was revived after a few minutes by the NHS nurse on night duty, before being carried downstairs and locked into another cell with no further treatment.

The cell he was put into is bare except for a bed, sink and toilet without a seat or lid. The door is made of a metal gate with see-through Perspex so he has no privacy at all. After a few days behind watched 24 hours a day, under these conditions, Michael decided to starve himself to death. A few weeks later he’s still eaten nothing, so weak he can’t leave his bed and still in the cell and still in the CSC which he is unable to cope with.

To top it off, prison staff refuse to open his cell with less than 4 officers present as this man on his deathbed is dangerous…

Neither the prison officers or healthcare have helped this man in any way, but the officers love the overtime; they get paid to sit watching a man in bed all day. Nothing will change and he will soon die, victim to the Close Supervision Centre. How many deaths will it take before this inhumane tortuous prison conditions are shut down and England stops killing prisoners?

22 May 2012

I’d like to lay down in a soft bed, fragranced with roses…
“Watch out for thorns,” they tell me.
And what do I care? Given that thorns are not lacking in life,
I prefer those of roses that give so much joy along with the pain.

Today, Tuesday May 22nd 2012, at 3:00 AM we placed an explosive device which contained 3 sticks of dynamite in the electric energy source of one of the primary vertebrae of the capitalist system: the bottling industry of “Coca-Cola” located on Av. Juan Tanca Marengo Km 4.5 in the city of Guayaquil.

We have heard it and read it, that phrase resonating every time greater in our heads, and in this opportunity as in the future ones, we neither image nor want nor could remain paralyzed: This time upright, proud and dignified we furiously add our cry to the unison of the indomitable spirits: “NO WARRIOR IS ALONE.”

That no warrior is alone, that solidarity between anarchists is more than a written word, that memory is never lost!, we go due to the same sense that those words draw out in us, because it is the voice of our brothers and sisters who call to us, it is the blood that demands to be liberated, that ferociously shouts and wildly revenges, and again we cannot nor want to be deaf to that voice.

Since 2009, May 22 will never be a normal day, it cannot be a normal day for those who declare themselves in permanent war on the system, it will never be a normal day for those who feel close to one who gave expression to his life with the same attack, to the indomitable contradiction: to MAURICIO MORALES DUARTE, Punki Mauri; who — like each one of those who delve into the attacks against power — knew the fate that is latent in this, here there are only two certain ways: “DEATH OR PRISON.” And he took it on as such, as the inevitable, without lowering the gaze, without doubt, without casting lots. In the same way that we carry the whole soul tattooed in our principles.

Beautiful and voracious is the way of this war, beautiful and voracious in all its branches and in all its tactics, inaccessible to the bland in spirit and idea. For them only remains the “elite critique,” the university reasoning, the non-life of citizenry, the work with the enemy.

There are certain individuals or cells who loudly proclaim: “we do not need dates,” “we are the negation of sense” or etc. Well who cares, regardless of whether one believes each cell or individual, we do not remain calm on this and other days when our brothers and sisters have fallen, when the powder, the dynamite, the anfo, the books and bullets do not suffice us, because they are part of us and because at the time we are all part of a legacy of indomitable and implacable spirits who decisively confront authority.

On this occasion we also want to greet the compas of the CCF; Eat and Billy; Rami Syrianos; compa Tortuga and the compas in Chile; the cells that don’t give up in Chile, Greece, Bolivia, Peru and Italy; the prisoners everywhere and those who have gone into clandestinity, strength for all of you!

Punki Mauri, your desire for freedom is a bomb that is contagious!

We walk in the night

with a sun in our minds

and with two great stars of gold

at our burning eyes

22 May 2012

The purpose of guerrilla attack is to spread the struggle into different territories and facets of life. Finance, judicial, communications, military and transport infrastructure will continue to be targets of the new generation of urban low-intensity warfare – the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI) / International Revolutionary Front.

The means for this struggle are always close at hand. On the morning of May 22nd we struck two points on the railway routes into Bristol, on the outer sides of Patchway (northern) and Parson Street (southern) stations. By lifting the concrete slabs running alongside the tracks and burning out the signalling cables found in the trench underneath, before carriages came on the line. We specifically chose these places so that employees of the Ministry of Defence, as well as military industry companies Raytheon/Thales/HP/QuinetiQ etc., in the business park near Filton Abbey Wood station, and the corporate hub of Bristol, near the Temple Meads station, were amongst the affected. Normal services weren’t restored until the evening.

The potential spread of such blockages in general poses a significant problem for the flow of commodities and for making sure that labour exploitation arrives on time, key concerns for transnational capitalism.

Such actions are a time-honoured method of disturbing the ‘social peace’ myth: from similar sabotages in France; cash courier vehicles getting destroyed in Crete; the night-time smashing of train station ticket machines in Australia; resistance to highway developments eating even further into wild landscapes (such as Khimki forest in Russia) whilst displacing animals and people who are still refusing to assimilate into industrial civilisation (such as Bolivia’s TIPNIS project in one of the most biodiverse regions in the world); to the iconic seizure and arson of the city bus in London last August. Not to mention our comrades of FAI/Fires on the Horizon, in Athens, and FAI/Individuals Conspiring for the Destruction of the Existent, in Curicó, defiant with their barricades…

Everywhere the bosses want us scurrying around their metropolis, like consignments of human flesh in alienating containers on pre-determined routes, in a frenetic hustle for survival, there is and will continue to be every reason to forcefully intervene in the smooth flow of the daily grind.

In the United Kingdom of clockwork control and domestication, we’re some of the ‘unpatriotic ones’ who find the 2012 Olympics, with the ensuing spectacle of wealth (when so many here struggle to feed themselves and their families), harmful developments and escalating police state, frankly offensive. But no union or movement calls our shots, and we have no inhibition to use guerrilla activity to hurt the national image and paralyze the economy however we can. Because simply, we don’t want rich tourists – we want civil war.

Anarchy is unavoidable.
Riot 2012.

- Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI) – May 22nd Group (*)

(* - “Because when your heart beats, it beats freedom, love, and anarchy: Anarchy doesn’t die in the mouth, it prevails in active hands.” – Mauricio ‘Mauri’ Morales.

On the 22nd of May 2009, Chilean anarchist Mauricio Morales died on an operation to attack the school for prison guards in Santiago.

In the struggle for meaningful existence, ‘freedom’ and ‘life’ are things worth the risk of losing in order to truly win them. Mauri ‘lost’ the last one… but that wild instinct never dies, the bet is still on, and today Mauri we will see to it that anarchy lives!

To Billy Augustan and Reyhard ‘Eat’ Rumbayan, fighters of the Indonesian FAI in prison for burning a bank (and to the wanted of that case, never forgetting our comrades in clandestinity) – you may not know us, but we are your co-conspirators, and the same for any being who attacks for individual, collective and Earth liberation. Stay strong and proud.

Lastly, we dedicate these words to the five anarchists arrested in the USA in early May, who, planning to blow up a bridge in the Cuyahoga Valley national park in Cleveland, were infiltrated by a government agent who sold them fake explosives.)

From vivalaanarquia, transl waronsociety:

21 May 2012

Today, Monday May 21st at around 1 AM, we attacked the Santander Bank located on Parana street between Tucuman and Viamonte. For this we made use of 2 liters of flammable liquid plus 4 butane gas canisters and an ignition mechanism. The fire completely destroyed the front part of the bank, leaving the 4 ATMs that were there unusable, as well as busting out several windows. We mark this action as an action remembrance of the warrior Mauricio Morales, fallen 3 years ago from the explosion of his own bomb destined to the prison guard school in Chile. And with care for Luciano “Tortuga” Pitronello, wounded after the attack on a Santander Bank last year, now imprisoned. This is how we understand solidarity, stopping here where a comrade “fell,” in order to radicalize and deepen our practices.

The society in which we live intends to condemn us to misery, to alienation, to stupid consumption and docility. We as combatant individuals deny all of this, we reject and attack its symbols and its capitalist, policial, patriarchal, religious and ideological values. We go on the offensive with conviction as our primary weapon. We do not illusion ourselves with “hope” of some change in the people, the people that does not react even when a loved one of theirs is locked up in the prisons or asylums of the Argentine State, the people that do not react even when they are evicted from their homes and have to sleep in the street with their children, the people who have lost all dignity before the dream of a bourgeois life that the mass media of communication offer them. We do not waste our time on raising the consciousness of the masses nor discourses like that, we choose for ourselves the rebel, illegal, delinquent life. And we have imprisoned comrades in this war who we want to name. Eat and Billy, brothers of the FAI, recently sentenced to 1 year 8 months for the attack on a bank; all the comrades of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, who maintain with pride their anarchist values in spite of the constant attempts to diminish their morale such as the recent transfer and punishment of the comrade Olga; Freddy, Marcelo and Juan, dignified prisoners in the Chilean prisons, after being expelled by the wretched Argentine government; the recently arrested Carla and Ivan; and so many others who we carry within ourselves, day after day, night after night, who give us strength and another reason to keep fighting.

An autonomous subversion, in the form of anarchist guerrilla, is expanding through the most remote places of the earth, from Bolivia to England, from Italy to Chile, from Indonesia to Mexico… with weapons, with explosives, with fire, but above all with values and dignified conscience. And that is what they will never be able to stop.

15 May 2012

In the district of Potsdam an attack took place which resulted in the BMW of the SPD MEP Dagmar Roth-Behrendt, (who was until early 2012, Vice President of the European Parliament), being set on fire. The car was parked in front of the property on which resides the Social Democrat since 2007. Her husband is Horst Reichenbach, the financial expert who is the director of “Task Force Greece” of the European Commission. Reichenbach’s crisis management team oversees the implementation of the austerity measures agreed by the Greek state and the European Commission, International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank.

In addition to the BMW being set on fire, a can of red paint was thrown at the house. The autonomous group “The Friends of Loukanikos”* took responsibility.

*Loukanikos is one of several so-called “Riot Dogs”. This is a dog that is seen at protests and violent riots in Greece. He is a symbol of the struggle against austerity measures dictated by the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank.

By act for freedom now/B.pd

A summary of the events in Val Susa

Various Italian governments have been trying to carry out the TAV (high speed railway) project for more than twenty years. In particular, what politicians and economic lobbies want to achieve is the construction of a high speed railway track linking Turin to Lyon, which will imply the ruin of one of the most beautiful mountain areas of the country, the Susa valley (Piedmont, northern Italy).

Since the early nineties, the people of the Val Susa valley have been opposing this project with all possible means. In fact, not only will the TAV destroy the natural beauty of the valley, its water sources and fauna but it will also imply the transformation of the area into an open construction yard for years on end, with further devastating consequences for the environment. While the propaganda of the regime has always stressed that the TAV is of paramount importance for economic development and therefore for the quality of people’s lives, the inhabitants of the Susa valley know very well that the new high speed trains are totally useless to their lives or to the ‘development’ of the valley. Among other things, to travel on such trains will be so expensive that only the very rich will be able to afford the cost. It is therefore pretty obvious that the TAV project will only benefit the interests of capital, increasing the speed of deadly businesses and enhancing only the development of a ‘civilization’ based on profits and exploitation.

The people of the valley and a great number of comrades all over the country have always showed their firm determination to stop this nth capitalist plan of devastation.

Countless of actions of sabotage against the machinery of the TAV have been carried out throughout all these years, small and big effective actions which have caused real disruption on the capitalist way of functioning and which needed no grandiose words of claim. Not to mention the numerous demos, blockages, occupation of yards that have characterized this relentless and tenacious struggle.

However, the economic and political interests at stake in the TAV are far too important for power. It’s not just the construction of a railway line that will speed up businesses. It’s also yet another way to impose conditions of exploitation and slavery, i.e. the very basis on which capital is founded and reproduces itself to the detriment of freedom, the environment and all that we care most.

This is why in 1998 a judiciary frame-up was orchestrated against anarchist comrades Edoardo Baleno, Soledad Rosas and Silvano Pellissero, all accused of belonging to a non existent subversive organization, which according to the judiciary was responsible for a great number of attacks on the TAV. Power needed a scapegoat to justify the existence of so many acts of sabotage whose authors couldn’t be identified.

Edoardo and Sole died while in detention. The official version of the events says that they committed suicide but we know even too well that these two comrades were murdered by the judges who accused them, the jailers who kept them locked up and the infamous and disgusting press campaign unleashed against them since the first day of their arrest.

It would be impossible to list here all the episodes of the struggle against the TAV.
For the moment we just mention the latest events such as the days of resistance against the occupation troops of the government in Val Susa (June and July 2011), the mass arrest of those who took part to those days of resistance (January 2012) and the attempt by the forces of order to murder Luca, a comrade who had climbed a pylon in Baita Clarea trying to block the ongoing military operation that also resulted in the expropriation of the comrade’s land (February 2012). Luca is still recovering in hospital.

As happened with Sole, Baleno and Silvano, solidarity with Luca and all those hit by repression while struggling against the TAV has expressed itself with force all over Italy and beyond. In this case too, it would be impossible to mention all the actions, demos, disruptions, etc that are still taking place in solidarity with Luca, the arrested comrades and the Val Susa struggle.

So we conclude this brief summary with the last update on the arrests of 26th January 2012.

Of the six comrades still detained in jail, Luca and Giorgio were released (May 2012) and are now under house arrest.
The comrades who are still being held in prison are:

Juan Antonio Sorroche Fernandez – Via Beccaria 13 – Spini di Gardolo – 38014 Trento – Italy.

Alessio Del Sordo – Lorusso Cotugno – Via Pianezza 300 – 10151 – Torino – Italy.

Maurizio Ferrari – Marcelo Damian Jara Marin – San Vittore – Piazza Filangeri 2 – 20123 – Milano – Italy.

THE VAL SUSA STRUGGLE CONTINUES
FREEDOM FOR ALL
