UBU Library - Utrecht University

The UBU Library, located on the campus of Utrecht University (Utrecht, The Netherlands). Ominous much?

I'm happy to report that the repeating textured tiles don't bother me here, particularly in the poured, black concrete on the interior. They seem to work better in this application compared to what I've seen on other buildings, like the Walker (Minneapolis, MN). They tend to cheapen, in my opinion. Not here. Maybe it's that they're concrete, giving me a warm Frank Lloyd Wright feeling, deep down... next to where my wannabe architect lives.

It's an impressive building for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it gains its power from human souls. Learners beware.

ROOT is a liqueur based on Root Tea, an alcoholic beverage consumed prior to Prohibition. The ROOT recipe contains a wide variety of organic ingredients including birch bark, smoked black tea, sugar cane, essence of sassafras, citrus zest, and more.
