Java Kickstart - MyApplet - Write Your First Applet for Your Blog

Install Net Beans IDE ,
that you can download from the Sun website

http://www.netbeans.org/

From Menu Select

File>>New Project (Ctl+Shift+N), Select Java Class Library

Next Type MyApplet as Project Name

and c:\MyJava as the directory (you will use this later also)

Click
Finish

Now in Projects Tab Your Project Root Tree is listed and created Under 'MyApplet'

Now its time to Add an Applet to your Project

Right Click to get Context Menu then select New>>Applet..

A dialog will appear , Note that you have a Recommended Name NewApplet, Leave As is and Click Finish

Now you will See Your 'NewApplet' listed in the Navigation tree and your Code 'NewApplet.java' in the right pane

To start with:
just above the main Function use the import statement to include the awt libraries

Awt is the Abstract Window Toolkit Class Libraries that we are using now to access Color and Graphics features

Just under the init( ) procedure add the paint procedure as described below

A little explanation of the code, We're playing with the color values,

Each color is composed of three components

r--red (0-255)

g--green (0-255)

b--blue (0-255)

In the above code what we are simply doing is looping the paint code and change the drawn
color to all possible combination in an incremental fashion

Our drawing code is making a new Color, assigning it to graphics,

And then printing a "Hello World" statement at position x=10,y=10

Now to test your Applet Select

NewApplet.java>>RtClick>>Run File

If eve is Ok, Your First Applet is Ready and should run in Flashing Colors in a new
Window

Use Build>>Stop Build/Run to Stop it

Now I'll guide you to place this applet on your webpage or blog

In your Explorer Open the Location c:\MyJava (You selected this location at initial steps)

Further Move into the build folder

Here netbeans have generated an HTML File you can open it to preview in your browser

Here is how it looked in my firefox browser

To place it on your webpage , you need to place it online, if you own a website you probably
have ftp access to your website

Upload the classes folder (including MyApplet.class) to your location where your webpages
are placed

Get the URL of your applet classes folder

If your URL is

http://sites.google.com/site/t6tfiles/Home/NewApplet.class

You can use this
HTML code to embed in your blog

Start Blender,

Leave Default Object (Cube As Is)

Add a Plane,
this will be our Ground Plane

Switch to object
mode(Tab)

Switch to Scale Manipulator Mode (Blue Box)

Scale the Plane in both directions using red and green arms

Switch to translate Manipulator Mode

Rotate using MMB (Drag with Middle Mouse Button) to get a 3d iew

Select the Cube (Rt Click) and move it UP

Reduce its size using Scale Manipulators

Press Shift+D to Duplicate this object, use
Rt-Click to place the new object

Make several copies then use Shift+RtClick to select all of cubes

Now We'll add some Physical properties

Switch to Logic Mode in Panels Bar (or F4)

For Each cube Rt-Click to Select it then wnable its physics

Enabling 1) Actor, 2) Dynamic 3)Rigid Body buttons, rest all the defaults would do

Do it for As Many Cubes as you Like (Patience is a Virtue)

Now You are Ready to See the Physics Show

Press 'P' or Menu>>Game>>StartGame

Now experiment/ proceed at your Will !!!!!!!

a blender kickstart , we shall
make a Cottage house model

Start Blender

Leave the
default object As is

Add a Plane
Mesh

Press TAB once to enter object Mode

Select scale Manipulator Mode

Click the Blue Box

Now Scale the plane horizontally by dragging the RED Arm

Now Using the Green ARM drag n Scale Vertically Too

Now Drag with Middle Mouse Button (or MouseWheel) to rotate the view

This plane would be our Ground, so we'll move our default box up

Switch to translate manipulator mode

Right Click the
Center Cube to select

Now use the Blue
Arrow to place it in position above the ground plane

Now We'll Make the Roof, Hit TAB once to Enter Edit Mode

Select the top
face of the cube by right clicking onto it

Now We'll Extrude this Face to make a Roof Shape, Press E

Move the mouse in extrude mode upward and click Left Mouse Button as:-

Now Extrude (E)
Again and Make another block

Adjust the View
by Dragging with Middle Mouse Button

Enter the Vertex Select Mode

Select the Top Left Vertex

Using Shift +Right Click on Top Right , Now Both Vetices are selected

Now Merge the
Vertices at center using (ALT+M)

Do the same process for the two roof vetrices behind

Now Enter again in Edge Select and select the right edge, move it slightly right(Red Arrow) and below (Blue Arrow)

Repeat the process for other side also

Congrats, You are DONE !!!!!!!!!

Hit F12 (or Menu>> Render>>Render Current Frame)
to see your model

MyBrowser - Kickstart C# , Make your own Web Browser in few easy steps

Prerequisites:: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
Intended for:: Beginners

Create a New C# Windows Forms Application Project

Set New C# Project, select Windows Forms Application and name your application as MyBrowser then click Ok

You will see a default Form in FormDesigner pane

You will See This Form ready to put controls on it

Change its Text Property as MyBrowser

Change its Size to 640x480

From the toolbox place a flow layout panel onto the Form

You will notice a square as under, Dock it to Parent using the small arrow on its top right corner

Next Place a Textbox onto the flowpanel from the toolbox, resizing to almost 75% of the form

Next Place a button also from the toolbox, change its text property to 'Go'

Then place a WebBrowser control, and resize it accordingly dragging its bottom right corner to your forms extreme bottom right corner

Your form design is ready, it will look as under:-

Press F5 to see it work, You can Make it look as Cute as possible

Now its time to write some functionality i.e we would like to pick the text from the textbox when the user clicks the go button the browser control should load the desired page

To program this action, Double Click the Go Button

And place the following code in the function 'button1_Click(bla bla)'

KML Kickstart - Placing Google Earth Links on your Website

Google Earth is a wonderful program for presenting geographic locations to your site visitors. The Google Earth's KML feature is the key. Your website can put a simple link where users can click and jump to a 3D VR Experience. It may be the location of your interest or any existing place from Goggle Earth's Community Place-marks.

1) Open Google Earth

2) Click on Add Place Mark tool

3) Locate and Create a New Placemark

4) Copy your place mark on clipboard

5) Fire up Notepad

6) Paste by Ctrl+V or Menu>>Edit>>Paste

7) Then save as a kml file e.g myplace.kml (Save as type 'All Files')

8) Upload the kml file to your file provider using your file upload procedures

e.g. you may upload your file myplace.kml on geocities on ‘mywebsite’

9) Now you can use this to html to link directly

The term "software engineering" was first coined in 1968 and was originally meant to be provocative, that software needed to be developed with processes similar to those used in engineering. Phil and Scott discuss software development with Alistair Cockburn, one of the creators of the Agile Development Manifesto for software creation.
Alistair first reviews his experiences with Chinese, Japanese, and Scandinavian developers and how well they might be able to work within a more open development system. His key question to the group was "Can you bring your boss bad news?" The results might be surprising.
The group then turns to a more general definition of software engineering. Alistair discusses its three foundations, particularly in relation to engineering: that it is a craft, that it is a cooperative game of communication and invention, and that its ideas and decisions are similar to a manufacturing line. TP002 - Using TDD and Sashimi Approach to write Quality Software - Part I

Introduction

A little background on the subject, Sashimi is a concept of Japanese Food making where every possible piece of food is perfected to its excellence, assembled and presented. Each and every piece in its own is considered to be concise and precise. Can we apply this concept to writing code, yes why not? As I myself have experienced its benefits so it’s a good idea to give you a taste of it. TDD is an approach where the test is written first, and then the implementation is written to satisfy the test. Why these two concepts are introduced? Because they both fit each other like glove on a hand.

Before you proceed I want to specify that this tutorial is not intended for programming novices, it is intended for Tdd or Sashimi novices. If you have trouble understanding the free form syntax that I use I suggest you consider develop basic programming expertise first. I have used ‘pseudo’ keyword that means you have to translate it to whatever language you are using, but as a programmer I am certain that you would understand what I want to express.

if you cannot interpret what it means you need some programming germs, this tutorial is not for you. As I expect you to read a code line and understand it instantly. That is if you want to make a dish and yet u don’t have understand ingredients, Its not Japanese style !!

Analyzing the Framework (Prepare for Battle)

Let’s say we want to make an application to display 2D graph for charting purpose. We will keep it simple enough for minimal scope. The key to the beginning is ‘Drill Down’ for more information.

First we identify major components, starting from Graph Itself (class Graph). I assume you understand what a 2D Graph is. Ok do we know what a graph is composed of ? Yes Lets say we have identified its components Axis, Plot, Lines, Points etc.

Do you have the complete understanding of the concept in the context of the problem? If so then proceed
Graph has two Axis , Ok Right !

Ask yourself, What is an Axis?
An Axis is displayed for reference, it has an orientation (horizontal or vertical) Ok, It is represented normally by a Line.

Ask yourself, What is a Line?
A line is defined by two points, Lets say p1 and p2, it has some length calculated by some formula.

Ask yourself, What is a Length Formula? Lets say u don’t know but have a gut feeling that you may find it. Leave the ‘How’ now concentrate on ‘what’.

Ask yourself, What is a Point?
A point is represented by two values x and y in 2D representation.
Now reconsidering above dialog, We have identified these classes.
Graph, Axis, Line, Point.

Implementation

So where do we Start Now !!!! Pick up the easiest and smallest concept, i.e Point

What Else is required? Does it fulfill the requirements of a point, Yes I think so because point has no perceivable behavior associated in the context of our application, So this definition seems enough.
So let’s move on to next class Line that uses Point

Ok consider now the attributes of class are defined, does it have an associated behavior? Yes, the Line would be required to return its length, for now define a function that returns 0;

Now here is the point where you will be tempted to write the function length as f(x,y), But I must warn you to stop here, A basic concept of Test Driven Development is ‘Write Test First !!", makes sense? To me it makes a lot of sense, Refer to TDD approach.

Now how can I test a code when it is not yet written, Oh yes, You can write a test code but the test is bound to fail. The Test is bound to fail, Not You!! So Behold.

The length is calculated, how? I deliberately left it, because at this point of time you should focus on ‘what’ and not ’how’. Lets define a simple test, Lets say p1 is at (10,5) and p2 is at (20,5) length should be 10. This can be one simple test, if you are new to TDD you might think what this meager little test might benefit. But as you keep my track, I will demonstrate you how much it can benefit you, that’s why I am writing this tutorial.

We will write another function to clear the test data

Now it would be prudent to define a TestManager class to encapsulate our test methods. You may also consider using a Unit testing Framework (e.g. CUnit, CPPUnit ot JUnit) to manage your tests. That might look something like this:-

If we can compile the code at this moment and compile and run the application,the test will run and fail !!
Because length is not implemented, Test is defined so we can check our code prompting a failure. Spooky isn’t it!!! But we have to deal with it for this failure indicates success.

Now is our Line Class Ready to be used, No not yet because it is not implemented!!

So we don’t proceed ahead until we make it usable. This is the point we implement the length function. You may do it now, your test will tell if you are done with it.

TCT001 - For Absolute Beginners- Write Your first Computer Program in Visual Studio 2008

Open Up Visual Studio 2008 (if you don't have it, find some help to get it and up and running)

Select Menu> File>New Project

Select 'Visual C++' as Project type and 'Win32 Console Application' Template

Type in a project Name also e.g 'Hello' and press Ok button

Don't get tempted by the 'Next' Button , Just Press 'Finish'

yow will see a code window with the following lines:-

This is just a template to start with, so lets start

make the code look like this by adding two lines yourself, be careful not to disturb other lines:-

If you have done all things right you are finished coding !!!

Just double-check the above code and press F5

There You Go You will See your first Program Running, i.e Your PC Prompting Hello in a small Message Box.

What you just Did !

You instructed your development environment to supply you a template with an entry point defined. The second line you added called a built in procedure MessageBoxA that displays a message box. The first line you added included definitions available for developers (MessageBoxA is one of those definitions).

You pressed F5 instructing your machine to build the project, that is compile the code then link it to libraries and to make an executable file and then ran it in debug mode.
