Ozo, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, has revealed why he ignored his love interest, Nengi during the final Saturday night party in the house.

The reality star, during his media rounds said all housemates were instructed not to go close or gesticulate to the finalist.

This, he said, was to avoid hinting who would emerge winner of the grand prize to the five finalists.

Recall that having a boyfriend outside the house had stopped Nengi from dating Ozo.

Recall that Nengi had on Saturday said her friendship with Ozo was over because he ignored her at the night party.

Reacting, Ozo said, ”I didn’t mean to ignore her. It was a directive, for all of us that came out, we were all instructed not to get close to the housemates.

”We were instructed not to gesticulate at the party, so I was playing by the rules.

”I felt bad seeing her cry so I could not wait for the next day so I would tell her it was the directive and I was playing by the rules.”

He added that Nengi is a lovable, smart and loyal person.

According to him, ”We will always be loyal, close to each other and always have each others back.”

Mike Nwogu, the socialite and club owner more popularly known as Pretty Mike, has said he constantly markets himself on social media because he is an eligible bachelor and a choice husband material.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, the socialite maintained that he had an array of women around him who wanted him to leave his nightclub business to get married soon.

He said, “I call myself husband material because I am still a bachelor and I have to market myself for the ladies. I am just letting them know that I am a potential husband, though I am not easy to get. Kanyamata (sex herbs and potions) will not work on me. Some ladies have tried it but it did not work. I am friends with all the kanyamata sellers, so it would be a fruitless effort.

“Some people think I am a sex addict or that I jump in bed with women but they forget that I am in women’s business as a nightclub owner. My business makes me an entertainer and I cannot afford to be boring. I am not what people see on Instagram. I am not a randy man that would jump into bed with anything in skirt. People think I have a lot of lovers but I don’t. The stories people hear or believe about me make me popular and attract customers to my club. If I was a boring subject, people would not want to associate themselves with me. However, people are curious about my personality and it is good business for me.”

On when he would be getting married, Pretty Mike noted that he was waiting for God’s time.

“When it comes to relationships, I don’t have anyone to flaunt. I find it hard getting into a serious relationship. It is not because I don’t want to but because the ladies are insecure. It is difficult to meet a genuine lady that loves me for who I am, irrespective of what people think about me. I believe God’s time is the best. Some of the ladies I have met want me to leave the nightclub business. But it is my source of livelihood and I cannot leave it to please anyone. The nightlife business means one would have a lot of women around one. They are the ones one would invite for parties and social gatherings and they would show up. I cannot have ugly female friends, so they are all beautiful and voluptuous. My girlfriends get intimidated by these things but I am at my peak right now.”

Susan Waya, mother of Big Brother Naija lockdown ex-housemate, Kiddwaya, set social media agog on Friday night when she stormed Erica’s meet-and-greet with her fans.

The fans who gathered to meet and greet Erica were surprised to see the billionaire’s wife.

Erica, one of the 20 housemates that were admitted into the lockdown house was disqualified along but not before she had written her love story with billionaire’s son, Kiddwaya.

Both were lovers while in the house and Kidd’s family believes that the Abia-born housemate was disqualified because of their son.

Mr. Terry Waya, Kidd’s father, had promised to reward Erica with half of the N85 million grand prize if his son had won it. And now it seems the billionaire family has other plans for the disqualified housemate.

Last night, Mrs. Waya declared that “I see myself in this young lady [Erica] and I’m here to support her, I also want to confirm to you that I’m a Kiddrica shipper.”

General Yakubu Gowon (retd.), Nigeria’s former military Head of State, says he was frightened when he became the nation’s military leader on August 1, 1966 at the relatively young age of 31, a report by The PUNCH has shown.

According to a statement on Friday titled “How I became Head of State at 32, by Gowon,” the former military leader spoke at a virtual reality history competition with the theme “Sustaining peace together,” organised by ANISZA Foundation and Gallery to commemorate its second anniversary on Thursday evening.

The programme was part of activities marking the nation’s 60th independence.

Gowon became Nigeria’s youngest leader ever when he became Head of State on August 1, 1966, before his 32nd birthday on October 19.

He was Head of State between 1966 and 1975.

According to the statement, Gowon, at the virtual event, which was moderated by the founder of ANISZA Foundation and Gallery, Novo Isioro, said he never plan to become Head of State.

He was reported to have said that his ambition then was just to be a good soldier.

“I felt petrified when I took over as Head of State. I never planned to be the President, it just happened,” Gowon was further quoted as saying.

The statement added, “The former Head of State spent time with hundreds of Nigerian youths who participated in the virtual event which was also the debut of the ‘Heart of the Matter with Novo Isioro,’ an online talk show where the host will raise issues of peace and unity among Nigerians and globally.

“The octogenarian who relived some of his life experiences and counselled young Nigerians on the right attitudes and values further engaged the participants at the virtual event on national issues, especially the role youths can play in national development.

“Among the participants were also select school children who are members of the ANISZA School Club, some of whom sat around Isioro during the conversation with the former Head of State.

“General Gowon also interacted with the participants on issues ranging from their identities, views on ‘one Nigeria’ and their personal commitments to ensure the nation remains united.

“The Plateau State-hailed general also reiterated his faith in the Nigerian youth and the country’s potential for greatness, noting that ‘we can be able to live in peace and unity irrespective of religion and tribe.’

“With a lot of wits and humour, he also admonished young people, traditional and religious institutions to take up the responsibility of securing the national identity, saying everyone has major roles to play in harnessing national values that will spur growth and development across all sectors of the Nigerian life.”

Isioro was also quoted as explaining that the event and the idea of ANISZA is to educate Nigeria youths, especially secondary school pupils in Nigerian history using photographs and other visual elements.

She explained that understanding Nigerian journey can advance the cause of peace and unity in the country.

He confirmed that Erica had told him that she does not want to do anything on live TV.

However, when she was tipsy after that Saturday party, he told Tolanibaj and Dorathy to handle the situation because he cared for Erica as a friend.

Laycon during his media said, ”My action was just me caring for a friend based on what happened at the arena. I told Tolanibaj and Dorathy to handle the situation because of our conversation.

”It was not personal, I was just looking out for a friend, remember I slept at the garden that night so I was acting based on what she told me.”

Speaking of his friendship with Kiddwaya despite liking Erica, Laycon said he became comfortable with their relationship because Kiddwaya is his friend.

”I don’t how my friendship with kiddwaya started but I know for a fact that before Erica left I was comfortable with their relationship

”Kiddwaya is a wonderful person, he is likable and a cruise guy, so because kiddwaya is my guy I was cool with them.”

Natacha Akide, a former Big Brother Naija contestant, popularly known as Tacha, told her fans during the week that she had a breakdown during the lockdown declared at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The reality TV star made this known in a video shared on her YouTube channel during the week.

She said, “I had a breakdown and I had to ask myself― ‘what is the world turning to? What have I learnt’? Back in school, we were taught to always learn moral lessons from stories. The moral lesson I learnt from the COVID-19 lockdown was to (always) spread love. I had to speak to a life coach who told me I needed to take a break, even if it was for three days. It was so bad that I would just lay on my bed, cover myself with clothes and be shaking because I was sad. I did not enjoy that period. I did not enjoy seeing the bad news (all around). I kept taking ginger and garlic every day.”

She also stated that she thought the world was about to come to an end.

“I was one of the people that thought the world was coming to an end during the COVID-19 lockdown. I also asked, ‘Is God angry with us’? The lockdown really messed me up financially, emotionally and psychologically. It had a very bad effect on me. There were a lot of rape cases during the lockdown and hearing of so many bad happenings affected my head. Whenever I am not online, it means I am taking a break from the negative happenings for the sake of my mental health.”

Advising her fans whom she calls ‘Titans’ to always show love, Tacha said, “2020 has taught me how to spread love. One minute you are seeing someone, the next minute, the person is no more. Even with all these, there are still people who like to put negative comments on one’s posts on social media. At this point, I don’t have words for anybody that spreads hate. This is the time we must spread love. We must make deliberate efforts to spread love.”

Nigeria’s number one man, President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a get-well-soon message to President of the United States of America (USA) Donald Trump, and his wife, Melania, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the President also charged Nigerians to comply more with the issued protocols against spread of COVID-19.

“President Muhammadu Buhari joins all citizens of United States of America in prayers for quick and full recovery of President Donald Trump and his wife, Melanie, who reportedly tested positive to COVID-19.

The President notes, with sympathy, that the incident of COVID-19 in the White House manifests the challenge posed by the pandemic across the world, and difficulty in containing the spread.

While wishing the American First Family speedy turnaround in their current health status, President Buhari urges more compliance among Nigerians to protocols, and adherence to advice of medical doctors, particularly epidemiologists,” the statement said.

A social media user brought the sad news to the attention of Nigerians on Twitter.

Agbani was crowned Miss World in 2001. She was the first indigenous African to win Miss World.

Many people tagged it racism at the highest level and accused google of inciting hate.

Taking to Twitter, @MsTariah, shared a snapshot of a Google search which result presented Agbani Darego as the ugliest ever Miss World.

She wrote: “Saw a tweet about Google search having Agbani Darego as ’ugliest miss world’. I searched it and wow!”

In reaction, many claimed the search result is largely racist and based on colorism.

See some reactions below;

@OluwafemiMaduka: I’d ordinarily not have read much into this, but pple have so many ways of manifesting racism and colorism. Even big institutions, that should be more openminded, are accomplices in these ills.

Shame on them.”

@aaijay51: Very terrible and heart breaking….Racism at its peak..

The Non- Academic Staff Union(NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities(SSANU) have revealed plans to embark on a 2-weeks warning strike beginning from Monday, October 5.

The two groups jointly declared plans to embark on the industrial action after a meeting of its Joint Action Committee(JAC) today Friday, October 2.

Addressing newsmen shortly after their joint congress held at the University of Lagos(Akoka), the chairmen of SSANU and NASU of UNILAG branch, Olusola Sowunmi, and Kehinde Ajibade, said the strike is general and involve all public universities in the country.

They said the action is a directive from the national leadership of the two unions to all their branches nationwide. According to them, the associations decided to embark on the strike so as to press home their demands on contentious issues from the federal government.

They listed them to include non-payment of arrears of their national minimum wage for 10 months, inconsistency in the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System(IPPIS), non-payment of arrears of their earned allowance since 2012, non-showing of seriousness in renegotiating their 2009 agreement, neglect and poor funding of state universities, corruption and non-constitution of visitation panels as well as a usurpation of headship in non-academic matters by the academic staff as the contentious issues.

The associations warned that they will proceed on a total strike should the Federal government fails to address all their issues while their warning strike lasts.

The associations say all their members had been mobilized for compliance with the directive.

This development comes amidst the 7-month old strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU which is still ongoing.

According to a report by Vanguard, the steps to reopen the schools may meet a brick wall, as staff unions in schools, especially those owned by the FG, have sounded warning strike, while those already on strike, may not back out yet.

Commenting on the development, the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, told Vanguard that the union’s ongoing strike would continue.

“We started out industrial action before the outbreak of Coronavirus disease in the country. All the issues we raised are yet to be addressed. The government is free to open their schools, just like our members are also entitled to their dues.

“As we speak, our members are being owed between three to six months of salaries. The government’s so-called fund saving platform, the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS, is a colossal failure. Apart from that, the government is yet to take any step to revitalise education sector among others,” he said.

Ogunyemi said though ASUU had been invited to a meeting by the government, it would wait and see what happens, adding that ASUU was always available for negotiation.

He added that if the government did not reach an agreement with the union before the reopening date, ASUU members would not resume work.

Similarly, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, and the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, acting under the aegis of the Joint Action Committee, JAC, on Friday also said they would start a two-week warning strike from October 5.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, the Branch Chairmen of UNILAG Chapters of SSANU and NASU, Olusola Sowunmi and Kehinde Ajibade, said the government had reneged on its promises to them.

The unions accused the FG of deceiving their leaders into accepting IPPIS. Listing their demands, the unions said there were a lot of inconsistencies in the payment of salaries to members, and the non-payment of Earned Allowances to members.

Others are the delay in the renegotiation of FGN/NASU and SSANU Agreements, as well as the non-payment of retirement benefits to retired members.

They also accused the teaching staff of usurping the headship of non-teaching units.
