What Do You Think I Should Do, Now?

2012-06-28T12:19:00.000-07:00

During an attempt to figure out something about this blog's appearance, I discovered, to my dismay, that there is a site with the same name which sells "sex dolls."

I'm reeling, a bit. My first impulse is to change the name of this blog.

Have you tried changing the name of your blog? Some of you have become such friends that I can hardly believe we have not met in person. I love being in contact with you through this blog.

What do you think? Opinions sincerely sought!

Giveaway Winners

2012-06-26T12:06:00.001-07:00

I did not anticipate taking nearly 2 months to complete my first giveaway! Life takes some curious little twists.

Since three people came up with ideas for prizes, those three people shall be awarded said prizes.

The first to respond was Heather. Now, Heather, some of your ideas are a bit out of my reach. I do, however, have access to books about making dolls and doll clothes. If you care to contact me via my Gmail, we can decide which you would like. Failing that, I do have a lot of poor dolls waiting for attention.

Bama, you shall have my mushrooms. :) I will need your address so that I can send them. I also need to know whether you would like only the "natural" ones, or the fantasy colored, as well.

Marta, I will be glad to send you something for Barbie. Since her things are small and light, it should be easy to get it to Spain. I will need your mailing address, as well. I would like to know if you would like little things for your very detailed scenes. Would you rather have Barbie clothes? :) Thank you for keeping in touch.

Congratulations to each of you. Your prizes will not be of great monetary value. Your support of my little doll blog is worth a lot, to me.

BEWARE!

2012-06-13T12:05:00.003-07:00

I may seem like the grandmotherly

type. "Aunt Lou" may conjure

pictures of a cookie baking,

children's book reading

doll collector

who thinks of her dolls as children

and tries to see that they

have a good home

when they have to move along.

Well, this is true, somewhat.

I seldom bake cookies, now,

as I eat too many of them.

I still love children's books

and love to read to my

nieces and nephews of the

next generation.

-The first generation is

all grown up.-

I do hang on to too many dolls.

BUT

There is a dark side to my

doll gathering.

I buy porcelain dolls just

to rob them of their

clothes...

...also their wigs.

THEN

I take them to a local

flea market where they

are sold for 25 cents

to help out...

...I forget what.

That is, the lucky

ones go there.

Like these

Some even have their wigs on, still.

This week I was going through
my "rejects"
and I noticed that
one very pretty one
was not very well put together
at the neck.
I had a project in mind, so
I... well... I
um
pulled off her head.
I was about to set the other
four aside to travel,
when I thought of another
project I would like to try.
Thus...

Porcelain parts

and "three bodies in the trash."
which I had considered
using as the title for this post.
I decided it would
possibly get too much
attention from an
element I don't wish to attract,
so BEWARE! was selected
to warn away
poor little dolls whose
clothes are nice
because they may end up
in the flea market --
or worse!

A lovely Kathe Kruse,

Some of my photos actually

so, I'll try to post again, soon.

Do You Like Animal Dolls?

2012-05-10T20:21:00.000-07:00

Here is a Kitty who looked
forlorn in the bin with
all the stuffed animals.
I have put her up for sale.
I decided not to steal
her dress and send her
back in just
her fur...
for now. :)

Somebody Wants Me!

"I'm sorry. I don't mean to
be hurtful. I know we've
been listed side by side
for a while. I just can't help
being a little excited.
If you are happy for me,
you don't have to say
anything. Just smile.

Thank you!"

What Shall I Give Away?

2012-05-04T06:37:00.000-07:00

I'm very close to a rather large number of page views for this blog. Well, 10,000 seems large to me. Having desired to do a give away for some time, I thought this might be the occasion. Here's my dilemma: what to give? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Another Shot

2012-04-29T14:12:00.000-07:00

Here's my next attempt
at getting the cash flow
turned around!
I bought a doll lot,
last year. This,
though unexpected
was in it.
I have it on eBay.
Well, we'll see.

Oh, by the way,
neither cloth doll has sold.
Oh, well.

Uh Oh, I Went to a Thrift Store!

2012-04-23T04:37:00.001-07:00

Who is that?

Just an irresistible Furga girl.
At this point, I had already
taken her hair down from
it's ponytail & brushed it out.
Now, she lies naked,
awaiting new clothes.
I do not know if her
original clothes made
her valuable, or not.
They were dirty.
They were not
impressive in quality.
I think I can do better.

This face gazed down upon me
from a high shelf.

She was not "cheap"
at about $7.50.
They sold for a lot more,
new.

American Girl?
Yes, from Hopscotch Hill.
How could I resist?
I did not.
Someone else will have to
leave...
...I think.

Have I Done This, Before?

2012-04-23T03:47:00.000-07:00

Have I already tried to
sell an original doll
on eBay?

I don't remember doing it.

So, here goes.

Yikes!

Half a Dozen Dollar Dolls

2012-04-17T10:20:00.000-07:00

1. A "skinny Ginnie."
She's kind of a mess, but
I like her.
eBay

2. A LIV Alexis,
nude & bald,
in a fun fur wig
I made last night.
Goodwill store

3. A Fashionista Barbie,
needing a good
face wash.
(I made the hat last night.)
Goodwill store

4. A "My Scene" Barbie,
nude with messy hair.
(I started making the skirt.
The unfinished top
is my work, too)
Goodwill store

5. A hard plastic lady
with a vinyl head.
Her clothes are original,
but ripped.
She required a lot of
cleaning.
I still need to wash her hair.
eBay

6. An all bisque.
She appears to be
a reproduction
or an artist's
work.
She's had a good wash
and I took her braids
down from their
loops and
re braided them.
eBay

Of course, the eBay dolls
had added shipping.
The Goodwill discount
on the other 3 dolls
did not balance out
that shipping,
but, technically,
they cost a dollar,
or less.

All Done

2012-04-15T10:28:00.000-07:00

Five buttons (beads)
on each boot,
a necklace and a hat
(or is it a barrette?)
and the little one is
all done.

Although I can see
places for improvement,
I am pretty pleased
with both of them.

Size comparison,
for Bama.

What do you think?
Do I have a chance
of selling them??

Awaiting the Details

2012-04-14T16:41:00.000-07:00

She's coming together
faster.
(She's quite a bit smaller.)
Just a bit more to do.

Digital Doodling

2012-04-13T21:41:00.000-07:00

And now to take
the medication
which was my excuse
for
playing
so late at night,
log off
and
simmer down.

Here I Go, Again...

2012-04-13T19:18:00.000-07:00

I call them "needle doodles"
because I just start sewing
and cutting
(or, vice versa)
just like doodling on paper.

Just like any other
doodling,
Some are more
successful than others.

Finished - I Think!

2012-04-10T09:57:00.000-07:00

Here she is.
Please gently give me your honest opinion.
Thank you.

Getting Close!

2012-04-09T09:28:00.000-07:00

Her boots have buttons.
Her throat is
adorned with
jewels.

Colorful gems
sparkle in her hair.

There are tiny yellow
earrings, too,
but they don't show.

A Little More Progress

2012-04-07T07:43:00.000-07:00

...but still a way to go
before we get there.

Goodwill Find

2012-04-06T12:22:00.000-07:00

There were several porcelain
dolls at Goodwill, today.
They were mostly priced
well so I might have purchased
them for their clothes.
Not having a huge ammount of
cash. I decided on this one.
The quality of the clothing,
as well as the style, were
the deciding factors.
She's so cute, it's kind
of too bad to deprive her of her
clothes (at least.)
I probably will, anyway.

Progress

2012-04-06T12:12:00.000-07:00

A little yarn, for hair.

(Now, howcome I get to post
this picture?
I think I'll try another
new post.)

Gorgeous Blog Alert

2012-04-02T09:39:00.000-07:00

A Scarlett Reverie

If I have never mentioned Raphael's blog before,

I have been remiss.

If you have not seen this blog

you are in for a treat, IMO.

Well, It's not Great...

2012-03-31T13:33:00.000-07:00

...but it is fun!

There was not enough contrast
in the photo, so I added
contrast & made it black & white.

I thought I could add 1
picture per post.
That doesn't even work.
It's a puzzle.

OOPS! SALE

2012-03-30T14:07:00.000-07:00

Well, I've been thinking of doing it, but now I have an urgent reason. If anything in my tiny Etsy shop NeedleDoodles should catch your fancy, hop on over there, use the coupon code OOPSIEDOODLE and get 20% off. I have additionally reduced prices on some of my items.

In case you are wondering, I bid 99 cents on two dolls and won them both. This would be fine, but one is a medium sized bisque and the other is also not small, causing the shipping prices to be a bit high. Oh, well.
I think I'll have to do a post on my "dollar" dolls! :)
