To anyone who may see this, I know I didn't make many posts, but I had a few followers so I thank you all. I think I made few posts because I truly enjoy taking pictures of toys more than reviewing them, plus I'm bad at reviews! So I have a new blog, that isn't focuses 100% of toys, but it is a similar tone. I promise there will be a weekly toy post! Thank you all again.

The Hobbit Gandalf and Bolg Two Pack Review

2012-10-20T04:43:00.002-05:00

Today we have a review of The Hobbit Two Pack featuring Gandalf and the orc Bolg!

These are the first Hobbit figures I have opened, and they are amazing!

Here is Gandalf the Grey.

The fearsome orc, Bolg.

Gandalf includes his sword, signature staff, and a removable hat.

Bolg comes with two very haggard looking sword, and a make shift hammer/axe thing. Either way, it looks cool.

Articulation on these figures is pretty great.

Gandalf: head, hip, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and ball jointed legs.

Unfortunately, Gandalf has no knee or ankle articulation, but stands fine on his own anyway. His cloud might kind of hinder his movement, but I really had no problem getting him to stand without a stand.

Speaking of stands, these figures include none, which is fine, but they don't have peg hole. I have tons of stands lying around that are not being used, it is a shame I can't use them on these, but they do seem to stand on their own fine.

Bolg: wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, torso, legs, and knees!

As you can see, there is quite a high amount of detail in these figures. The beard looks great!

As for their heights, Bolg simply towers over Gandalf. His hat adds a little bit, but Borg is still a giant. I think these sizes are about perfect.

As you can see, with his hat, Gandalf is just slightly taller than Captain America, and still shorter then Thor. This works great in my opinion.

Bolg is considerably taller, towering over Captain America and still being a head or so over Thor.

My favorite thing about this line so far is the potential it has. This scale is great for collecting, so tons and tons of army builder would be AWESOME. Also, they can afford to have massive figures compared to their dwarves and hobbits.

Here is Bolg compared to Kili and Fili. He is almost twice their size!

The dwarves are closer to Gandalf size, but he is still undeniably bigger. It really works about great. (Dwarf reviews coming soon!)

The detail on Bolg is simply great. His armor can move around a bit, but isn't loose by any means.

Overall, this is just a wonderful two pack. I simply cannot wait until more waves of this toyline are announced. I will absolutely be buying all of them if this quality stays consistent. I need a Gimli after all!

Marvel Universe Hulk VS Wolverine Review!

2012-10-18T01:28:00.001-05:00

This set isn't too bad. Honestly, I hate having yet another Wolverine, but this comic is such an iconic image, that is seems okay to have these two packaged together. Furthermore, I didn't have First Appearance Wolverine, so I'm glad it's included here, even if I didn't need it.

It isn't a bad set, but the $18 a spent seemed kind of high for essentially one figure.

To my knowledge, this Hulk figure is the same as the single carded version that just came out. It's a very solid figure.

This is the standard Wolverine sculpt from multiple figures. The head is a little different, but seems to be almost the same as single carded First Appearance Wolverine, but this one doesn't seem to have the same whiskers painted on, but I could be wrong.

That's about enough for Wolverine, as I'm sure nobody will be buying this two pack for him.

Here are some comparison shots to past Hulk figures in this line. This is the Classic Avengers Team Pack Hulk, and honestly I've never been a fan of the Kirby Hulk (Sorry), so I don't think that figure is in any way better than the new one.

Here is the Secret Wars Hulk. Prior to obtaining this new figure, this had been my display Hulk. I've always liked everything about this figure but the neon green. It isn't bad, but it seems a little bright. This new figure is obviously a little smaller, but seems much more proportional. I mean look at the hips to shoulder width on that Secret Wars figure!

Here is the previous single carded Hulk figure. The only thing this figure really had on the Secret Wars one was the open hand. I thought it was a nice touch.

Here we have my previously favorite Hulk. World War Hulk! If you read comics, but haven't read this, I highly recommend you check it out. It's great. Anyway, this new figure seems to be the same sculpt minus the armor. It also has a new head, and pants obviously. The color is a little more "green" as well.

Here is another shot of World War Hulk without his armor. As you can see, very similar.

Out of all the Hulk, this new one is clearly the best in my opinion.

Even though this new Hulk is not as wide, it is actually a little taller. It still doesn't seem quite in scale, as he isn't much taller than a head over Captain America (seemed like an average height guy).

Overall, I would say this set is a buy. If you can find the single carded Hulk, I recommend you get that instead. This pack does include the famous Hulk VS Wolverine comic book, so if you have never read that, it might be worth it to get the set. If you are like most Marvel Universe collectors, you probably don't need another Wolverine.

Hobbit figures and a great Toys R Us deal! Plus a "buying guide".

2012-10-16T00:00:00.000-05:00

Hello everybody! As I'm sure everyone who is a fan of this scale is aware, there are Hobbit figures in 3.75 inch scale! So far there is quite a collection of very nice looking figures.

So far, the figures come in a variety of different purchase options. Above is a five figure set that includes Bilbo, Thorin, Dwalin, Kili, and Fili. The set retails for $30, so $6 a figure isn't bad at all compared to other figures in the same scale (granted these are kind of smaller).

At first, this gift set seems like an obvious choice to get the most figures for the cheapest price. However, all of these figures are available in single or multi-packs.

Balin and Dwalin two pack.

Legolas and Tauriel two pack.

Bilbo Baggins and Gollum two pack.

Kili and Fili two pack.

These two packs retail for $15, so for the price of two, you could get five figures in the set. The only problem is, the set includes Bilbo, but not Gollum, and it includes Dwalin, but not Balin. So, if you can settle for getting duplicates, or going without a few figures, the gift set is still the way to go. What is you don't want to gift set, but still want Thorin you ask? Well, you have two more options!

Thorin Oakenshield is available in a single pack for about $9 depending on where you are shopping. So, you could get all the two packs, then add this figure. So, for about $55 dollars, you could the entire five pack, plus two figures. That averages out to about $8 a figure. Still not too bad considering recent movie franchise prices (Avengers...), but there is another, maybe better, option!

Check this thing out! This two pack includes Thorin Oakenshield and The Goblin King. The Goblin King is about eight inches tall, so he towers over the dwarves, making him quite a fearsome foe. This two pack runs $30, so you are basically getting the Goblin King for $20, which isn't too bad compared to the $16 most six inch figures run these days.

Now we are looking at about $75 for the set, plus Balin, Gollum, and the Goblin King. That's about eight figures $10 a figure, which still isn't too bad by today's standards, and you get a giant blob of a figure that is the Goblin King!

Besides the single carded Thorin Oakenshield, there are four other single packs that are Grinnah the Goblin, Bilbo Baggins, Legolas, and Gandalf the Grey. They also run about $10.

Now, I do not have these figures in hand for comparison, but I believe this Legolas is the same as the two pack, and considering Tauriel is only available in the two pack currently, it might not be wise to purchase this Legolas to avoid double dipping.

Same goes for the Biblo figures, it appears to be the same figure with Gollum and in the set, so I wouldn't recommend this single figure unless you don't want Gollum.

Onward! So, don't be so hasty about buying that Gandalf. Damn, does he look cool, but wait!

There is a two pack containing Gandalf and Bolg! Bolg just looks amazing, and is apparently huge considering Gandalf is about four inches! I have been told that this Gandalf is a little different than the single carded, so if the difference is great to you, go ahead and get them both! This pack retails for $18, so if Gandalf is going to cost you $10 anyway, this seems like a deal.

Finally, we have our last figure set. This set includes Fimbul and a Warg. I'm not entirely sure who this character is, as I haven't read the Hobbit since middle school, but I'm definitely going to be getting this figure. This figure pack seems to retail for about $18 as well.

Running total time! So, we have a few options to get every figure:

Option 1:

Goblin King and Thorin, Fimbul and Warg, Bolg and Gandalf, Bilbo and Gollum, Legolas and Tauriel, Kili and Fili, Balin and Dwalin, and Grinnah the Goblin.

Here we have 15 figures for $136. About $9 a figure, not bad at all!

Option 2:

Five pack gift set, including Thorin, Bilbo, Dwalin, Kili, and Fili. Then add Legolas and Tauriel, Bilbo and Gollum, and Balin and Dwalin. Then we will add Gandalf and Bolg, Fimbul and the Warge, Goblin King and Thorin, and finally Grinnah the Goblin.

Here we have 18 figures for $141. About $8 a figure, so that's even better, but you will have two Thorins, two Dwalins, and two Bilbos.

So, depending on your thoughts on doubles, either options would be great. They are both reasonable considering the size of that Goblin King!

No matter what you choose, I recommend toysrus.com. Typically, I do not buy from them as they are kind of higher than most places, and selection isn't always great. Fortunately, they have a promotion right now with free shipping for anything over $49, and 20% off any purchase over $125!

I went on a little binge, and purchased most of the line that has been released so far. I decided to wait on Grinnah, as he is the only figure that is released exclusively by himself, and I'm thinking he may be in a two pack before too long.

As you can see, I got all those figures for $107.69 shipped! That's quite a deal!

One tip, I couldn't find the Legolas and Tauriel two pack in the search, or anywhere else on the site. If you Google for the link, you can find it and add it to your cart.

As soon as these come in, I will post individual action shots, and maybe a battle with some deadites or two.

Examples of Marvel Universe Scaling

2012-06-18T14:38:00.000-05:00

This post is just a few quick shots that show the variation in size of Marvel Universe figures.

Here I have the Spider-Man line Rhino next to a Marvel Universe Spider-man from the Greatest Battles Two Pack with Captain Britain.

As you can see, Rhino isn't that much taller than Spider-man, but he is certainly bigger.

As for Hulks, they tend to vary slightly depending on the figure. These are all Marvel Universe Hulks.
From left to right: Classic Avengers Three Pack Hulk, Single Carded Hulk, Secret Wars Hulk, and World War Hulk.

Wolverine is pretty small in this line, as he should be, so compared to Hulk, he is clearly smaller. Here we have the Single Carded Hulk compared to the X-Force Three Pack Wolverine.

Here is X-Men First Class Two Pack featuring Wolverine and Sabretooth.

As you can see, Sabretooth is much much larger than Wolverine. Again, Wolverine is very small in this line though, but he probably should be.

Here is a Secret Wars Human Torch next to Fantastic Four Three Pack Thing. Almost the same height, but The Thing is clearly bigger.

Secret Wars Hulk next to Fantastic Four Three Pack Thing.

This is pretty large, as he should be, so most of his figures are Hulk height, but not as thick. I would consider Captain America to be "average" sized. Single carded Thor, Ultimate Giftset Captain America, and Secret Wars Hulk.

There seems to be two version of "larger" characters. The "Hulk" size, which is very thick and tall, and "Colossus" size, which has similar height on Hulk figure, but not as thick. Single carded Juggernaut, First Class Two Pack Wolverine, and X-Men Six Pack Colossus.

X-Force Wolverine and Single carded Apocalypse.

Single carded Thanos and Ultimate Giftset Captain America.

Single carded Juggernaut and X-Men Six Pack Colossus.

Single carded Hulk and Ages of Thunder Thor.

Thor looks short here, but his knees are bent quite a bit. He is about the same height as this Hulk figure.

Generally speaking, Hasbro makes female figures rather small. Secret Wars Human Torch, Fantastic Four Three Pack Invisible Woman and Thing. Reed must have the night off.

Fantastic Four Three Pack Invisible Woman and Secret Wars Hulk.

So, as you can see, most figure that should be large, are. There are obviously exceptions, for example most people think Drax the Destroyer is too small. Overall though, Hulk is definitely bigger than most, and there is pretty good variation in height overall. A 3.75 inch toyline doesn't have just 3.75 inch figures thankfully.

Palisade's Army of Darkness "Bloody" Ash and Deadite Scout Review

2012-03-23T15:59:00.000-05:00

Today I have a review of my first Army of Darkness figures! These figures are about 4 inches, so they fit in quite well with Marvel Universe, Star Wars, and GI Joes. This is honestly the perfect size for this toy line, because a vast majority of the line is "army builders", and 1:18 scale works great for collecting. Furthermore, who doesn't want Wolverine and Ash to team up against some deadites?

As you can tell, these figures are extraordinarily detailed. Furthermore, for a skeleton body, it is very articulate. Ball jointed shoulders and legs, with double joints for knees. It can be posed quite well.

Ash is quite a bit more articulate. Wrists and head move, great articulation on the shoulders and legs, with double joints on the knees and elbows. He can be posed in about every way you would need him to. Unfortunately, BOTH joints on his right as has broken on me and are now held on with glue. One fell off right as I took it out of the package, and the other just broke off as I was typing this. Oh well, they are getting pretty old so it is understandable.

Both figures come with an abundance of accessories, which are all movie accurate. Unfortunately, no chainsaw or "boomstick" for Ash, but he does have a few swords and a shield.

These figures have a hard time holding some of the weapons, but they can hold others fine, so it works out. Honestly, most of this line are just army builders, who a wide selection of accessories is great.

Along with the weapons, both figures come with a stand. Ash can stand without his stand, but the Deadite Scout requires it to be able to stand. In my opinion, this isn't really anything too negative. I have figures not even a year old that can't stand on their own, so considering the age and the fact that they are skeletons, I don't need them to stand on their own.

Both of these figures came together in a Palisade Toys Collector's Club package. They are slight variants of Ash and a Deadite Scout. They just have a little "battle damage" on them.

Obviously, these toys are great for any Army of Darkness fan, especially one that collects toy line that are similar in size. These figures are old but aren't hard to find. Amazon and ebay has the entire first series readily available.

Unfortunately, these figures did continue into a second series, but were all in blank packaging so you couldn't see what figure you were actually getting. This has caused prices increase rapidly on ebay. Some figures are well over $150. So, series two is out of the question, but I will certainly continue finishing up series one, but I should probably stop there.

Overall, these are pretty decent figures for being a few years old. I will certainly be buying more.

Bloody Ash

Articulation: Really great, besides the broken elbow. Stands on his own, and is quite pose able.

Paint: Also really good. The blood splatters seem plausible and shading on the figure is great.

Sculpt: Has Bruce Campbell likeness, and seems realistic and true to the movie.

Accessories: Removable cape, a few swords, and a shield.

Deadite Scout

Articulation: Surprisingly good for a skeleton. Very pose able also, just requires a stand.

Paint: The armor is painted amazingly, and all the bones seem like they have rotted for years. Looks great.

Sculpt: It is just like it needs to be, a skeleton is armor.

Accessories, a few swords, a shield, and a pike.

Marvel Universe Daredevil and Bullseye Review

2012-03-14T16:40:00.000-05:00

Daredevil and Bullseye were some of the Marvel Universe figures, and it is about time we got an updated version. The initial releases of these figures were relatively inarticulate. These two figures are literally the most articulate Marvel Universe figures to date.

Both figures share a sculpt, but that works out fine. They complement one another perfectly. Furthermore, I believe this is a new sculpt. I can't find a figure in my collection that shares the same sculpt.

Both figures also come with great accessories.

Bullseye is equipped with a silver pistol and throwing dagger. They are both very soft plastic, and the dagger is slighty to small for Bullseye to hold.

Luckily, it comes with a great holster to hold the throwing dagger.

His pistol snugly fits right in the holster.

Daredevil comes with his signature baton. It splits in half easily so he can attack with both arms. Also, it does seem to fit in it's holster, but it is a little difficult to get in there.

As you can tell, the new sculpt has greatly improved on virtually every aspect of Daredevil. I wish they would have used the same sculpt for Shadowland Daredevil, but oh well. Fortunately, the new Daredevil can hold his weapon!

The original Bullseye figures is the same as the original Daredevil figure, so again, a great improvement.

Overall, I would highly recommend this pack to any action figure fan. These figures are extremely articulate and detailed for any size figure, but especially at 1:18 scale. I would say this figure might be worth scalper prices, because I have a feeling these will go fast in retail!

Daredevil

Articulation: Top class. The best articulation I've ever seen.

Paint: His paint is very dark, with shadowed outlines throughout the body. Looks great.

Sculpt: Seems to be new, and works great.

Accessories: Comes with Daredevil's signature weapon that splits in two.

Bullseye

Articulation: The same as Daredevil, amazing.

Paint: Bullseye is painted black with white stripes are his arms and legs. The white stripes have a light "blue" tint to them. It looks spectacular.

Sculpt: Same as Daredevil.

Accessories: Silver pistol and throwing dagger. Both work great for Bullseye, but he can't hold his dagger.

Marvel Universe Quicksilver and Wonderman Two Pack Review

2012-03-12T14:29:00.000-05:00

Overall, the Marvel Universe Quicksilver and Wonderman two pack is relatively plain. Neither figure has a unique sculpt, and there are not any accessories or unique features.

Wonderman is obviously a "built" character so using a bigger body makes sense. It is the same body used for Thunderbird, Warpath, or Drax.

It's not a bad body, so it works, but they keep those damn hands! The hands worked for Warpath because he had knives to hold, but for Wonderman, it makes little sense.

It looks terrible in my opinion, and greatly sets back the figure. How can Wonderman punch somebody without a fist?!

Quicksilver, being nimble and quick, re-uses a much smaller body. It is the basic "Marvel Universe" body.

I'm pretty sure it is the same body as the original Daredevil, Bullseye, Hydra soldier, etc. It works though, because Quicksilver really doesn't have any need for a unique sculpt.

Neither figures come with any accessories or equipment, but I personally can't think of anything these guys would need for accessories.

For any completionist, this two pack is a no brainer. Two exclusive figures that can't be bought anywhere else. Furthermore, anyone who is a fan of creating famous teams probably needs both of them.

This isn't the original roster by any means, but a few characters that appear in the issues that revolve around the West Coast Avengers fighting Magneto.

I'm also well aware the Jim Hammond Human Torch doesn't appear in those issues, but there are so few times he is useful, so I had to use him!

I can't wait to see Magneto fight Iron Man in Avengers vs X-Men. It better happen.

This turned more into a Secret Wars Magneto gallery than anything else...

Overall, I would recommend this pack to any West Coast Avengers fan, or and X-Men fan considering you get Quicksilver. Wonderman certainly wasn't high on my want list, but I'm not opposed to his figure. It is worth it if you can find it in retail, but not worth the scalpers prices on eBay.

Wonderman:

Articulation: Everything you have come to expect from Marvel Universe figures. Compare to Warpath or Drax the Destroyer.

Paint: The paint is decent. The eyes maybe painted a little "too" evil. My specific figure has a random tan smudge on the shoulder, but I'm sure it is just mine specifically.

Sculpt: It works for his character except the hands. He just looks like he is trying to hold something constantly.

Accessories: None, but that's okay.

Quicksilver:

Articulation: No hip swivel, but pretty much everything else.

Paint: Pretty much just white and blue, as his costume should be. The hair is a neat blend of white and grey.

Sculpt: Classic first series Marvel Universe sculpt.

Accessories: None, but again, that's okay.

'90s X-Men In Action!

2012-03-10T23:17:00.000-06:00

After taking the group photos of Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, and Archangel, I took a few of Jean Grey, Colossus, Gambit, Psylocke, and Cyclops. I decided they should probably do battle!

I'm not sure Cyclops is making it out of this one...

After the X-Men got their asses kicked, I got out the old Sentinel.

I assume most people have seen this Sentinel in person, but if you haven't, you need to. A person can't fully understand how awesome it is until you can hold it in your hands.

Marvel Universe Gambit and Mr. Sinister Review

2012-03-10T14:05:00.000-06:00

Hey toy fans! I finally got around to opening my Gambit and Mr. Sinister two pack. I'll be honest, when I first heard about this pack, I was thrilled. Two awesome figures that haven't been released in this specific line! After opening it, I'm kind of "meh" about it.

As you can see, the packaging is very much the same as all the other Greatest Battle Packs. The package is slightly misleading on Mr. Sinister's height. The figures are shown so their heads match up height-wise, but Mr. Sinister towers over Gambit.

Here he is compared to Secret Wars Hulk. With his cape on, Mr. Sinister is even taller than the Hulk. I quickly discovered why he is so tall...

Mr. Sinister is just a repaint of Colossus! I've read many forums with people bitching about reusing sculpts, but honestly, if it came down to getting a reuse of Colossus or no Mr. Sinister, I will gladly take the reused sculpt. Additionally, it probably keeps costs down, making these figures cheaper for us.

My only real complaint about the sculpt reuse is that Mr. Sinister just seems way too big.

Furthermore, I assume Gambit uses the same sculpt as the Wolverine Origins Gambit, which is perfectly okay because it is the same guy.

For accessories, Gambit includes his signature staff, and that is it. Some kind of card projectile would have been nice. Just anything relating to card would have make this a better figure. Maybe the hand from the single carded Bullseye figure with cards could have been use.

Mr. Sinister includes removable cape, which is nice, but it adds quite a bit to his height.

Articulation is pretty good on both of these, which one major flaw on Gambit. Gambit's wrists can't move! His elbows has surprisingly good articulation, so it kind of makes up for it, but honestly it would be nice to have his twirl his staff. Additionally, Gambit's trench coat cannot be easily removed, but it really doesn't hinder his movement.

Mr. Sinister obviously has the exact same articulation as Colossus, which isn't bad at all. It works well for a figure of this size. He also stands on his own very well without a stand.

Overall, this pack is a must have for any X-Men fan. If anything, Gambit is required to complete the '90s X-Men team, which is a goal of mine. I can't wait to see the Rogue that was just announced! Mr. Sinister is a good addition for any X-Men fan, but I don't see it being popular among general Marvel fans, not like Gambit anyway.

Gambit
Articulation: Really good besides no wrist movement. Trench coat doesn't stop movement at all.
Paint: Not a lot of variation, but that isn't a bad thing. Glossy, but it works.
Sculpt: Works for Gambit quite well.
Accessories: The staff is nice, but cards would be a great item to accompany it.

Mr. Sinister:
Articulation: Exactly like Colossus. Great for his big size.
Paint: Very detailed, but kind of sparkly.
Sculpt: Again, exactly like Colossus, even the face is similar.
Accessories: Removable cape is nice.

Star Wars Discover the Force Tusken Raider Review

2012-03-07T12:42:00.001-06:00

With Star Wars: The Phantom Menace back in theatres, a new toy line has been released to coincide with it. This new line is comprised of figures from Episode I and includes card board 3-D glasses.

As you can see, the figure's card has a 3-D image that works with the provided glasses. It's neat, but not exactly a selling point. Regardless, the few figures I have are pretty neat.

Just judging by looking at the figures in their packages, these are most certainly repacks. I am somewhat certain I have this exact Yoda from the Saga Legends line, but I could be wrong.

Overall, the Tusken Raider is a pretty neat figure. The only other one I have is from the Power of the Force 2 line, so this is a nice upgrade from that.

The figure itself is pretty articulate. Almost what I would expect from the Vintage Collection. He has a ball socket head, ball jointed shoulders, ball jointed ankles and knees, swivel hips and waist, and swivel elbows and wrists. I am a little disappointed with the elbows being swivel, but it works fairly well with the cloak on, so not a major complaint.

For accessories, the raider comes with a long rifle, a blunt object of sorts, a stand, and a fabric cloth that is easily removed.

Overall, I'm not entirely sure this figure was worth it over others. It is a neat figure, but with limited elbow articulation, pose-ability goes down.

Articulation: Decent, except for the swivel elbows that are slightly awkward.

Paint: The paint on this figure is spot on. Every detail on the figure is painted exceptionally well and is very distinct.

Sculpt: The sculpt looks great, especially the iconic Tusken Raider head. Everything is spot on here.

Accessories: With the sniper rifle and "stick" the Tusken Raider has pretty of weapons. Additionally, with the removable cloak, you could use this figure as an army builder and has some variation.

Marvel Universe Psylocke Review

2012-02-07T23:04:00.001-06:00

I recently began reading Uncanny X-Force, and I've definitely fallen in love with it.

Psylocke is a very cool figure. As an member of the X-Men, I wanted her pretty badly. Additionally, she is part of Uncanny X-Force, so this is just a double dose of awesome. Overall, she is a great figure.

Obviously, she is the exact same sculpt as Dark Pheonix from the Greatest Battle pack, including the head, but it works for the most part. My only complaint is that Psylocke looks a little evil with those eyes, but is isn't that bad.

For accessories, she comes with the standard "fire" wrist attachment that Iron Fist, Human Torch, and other come with. The attachment is purple to show her telekinetic abilities. She also comes with a purple sword to match the attachment. It seems to be the same sword that Hand Ninjas are equipped with, except due to Hasbro packaging, mine is pretty twisted up.

Furthermore, she can't seem to hold the sword in a decent way. One hand is open, but the other hand looks perfect for the sword, but it isn't quite tight enough.

Along with the sword and attachment, she comes with the now standard "comic shot". It's cool, but really seems pointless. Obviously a stand would be preferred, but I'm sure there is a reason we don't have one.

Another new thing with this wave is Deadpool! Each figure has Deadpool on the back in the same fashion as Commander Rogers, Osborn, and Nick Fury, except this time each figure has a unique Deadpool caption.

Overall, a very solid figure. I have no regrets adding her to my collection, and as far as female figures go, she is probably the best.

Articulation: Articulation is exactly how it is on any other Marvel Universe female figure, and works great.

Paint: The paint on my particular figure had some flaws, but I'm sure they aren't all like this. No complaints either way.

Accessories: All her accessories are great and fit the character quite well.

The best part about having Psylocke is being one step closer to the X-Men roster I grew up with! I'm just praying for a Rogue figure and hoping Jubilee turns out alright.

Wave 17 Iron Fist Review

2012-02-06T22:57:00.000-06:00

This is my second Iron Fist figure, and honestly it probably wasn't worth it.

As you can see, there is very little difference between the Greatest Battles two pack Iron Fist and this one. Obviously, there is no collar on the white one. The rest of the sculp seems to be the same.

Not having the single carded Iron Fist, I am glad to have the "fire" accessory. It is a decent accessory, but is the exact same thing Human Torch and Psylocke comes with. As with all 2012 figures, no stand is included but instead we get a "comic shot". This is simply a piece of card stock with a famous image from a comic book featuring the character.

Now, the real reason I got this figure is for The Defenders. I just recently got back into reading comics, and I an thoroughly enjoying The Defenders so far. Now if only we had a Red She-Hulk, put with She-Hulk on the way, it can't be long. Hasbro certainly likes their repaints!

Overall, pretty much just the same figure as the Greatest Battles Iron Fist, and I assume that is pretty much the same as the single carded.

Articulation: Everything one would expect from Iron Fist.
Paint: The paint is exceptional. The gold is very shiny compared to the more dull white. It works well.
Accessories: He comes with his "fire" punch attachment and a comic shot. The comic shot is worthless.

In conclusion, Modern Iron Fist is a cool figure, but it certainly isn't anything we haven't seen before. The modern costume is nice if you keep up with the comics, but it certainly isn't necessary if you already have an Iron Fist.

Marvel Universe Haul

2012-02-04T14:43:00.001-06:00

This is my first Marvel Universe haul in a while. All my local stores are flooded with Doctor Strange and Tony Stark figures, but that is about it. Finally, today I got most of Wave 17, along with Gambit and Mr. Sinister.

I spent roughly sixty dollars, but I think it was worth it. I've been needing a Gambit figure since I began collecting, so it is nice to finally find one at an affordable price.

Once again, I'll get to individual reviews eventually, but for now I'll just give you some close up images.

Ages of Thunder Thor looks very impressive. I have yet to be disappointed by a Thor figure from this line, and this one doesn't seem like it will change that.

I honestly know very little about the Shadowland storyline, but I plan on reading it after getting Shadowland Daredevil. Daredevil has always been my favorite character, and I'm hoping this figure it better than the last one.

Psylocke has just always been a cool figure. I also have a thing for teams, so she is definitely necessary for an Uncanny X-Force team, even if her costume isn't perfect.

I know nothing about this guy other than his brief bio on the card. He looks cool enough, but we'll see once Patriot is open.

As stated above, I'm a sucker for teams, so a white Iron Fist was necessary to create the Defenders.

This two pack is just awesome. I cannot wait to open it. Mister Sinister and Gambit are both highly sought after figures for me, so I can't wait. It also comes with a reprint of X-Men #1.

Individual reviews coming very soon!

Vintage Star Wars 2012 Wave 01 and Movie Heroes Wave 01

2012-01-18T12:36:00.000-06:00

Yesterday I stumbled across these figures in the wild, along with the new "Movie Heroes" Star Wars line.

Typically, I won't buy Star Wars toys. I love Star Wars, but there are so many toys, I wouldn't know where to start! Recently, I had purchased a few figures on clearance for pretty much nothing. I had not had a Star Wars toy since the Power of the Force 2 line, and they have certainly increased in quality! I was very excited to find both the Vintage Collection and Movie Heroes line, with complete waves of both! The few figures I had were from the Legacy Collection, and the Movie Heroes figures seem to be a continuation of those, so I bought those instead of the Vintage. Very bad choice. The Movie Heroes figures looked great, but after opening Darth Vader, I realized they had virtually no articulation. Both arms could move up and down, and a button on his back made his hips twist. That was it! I returned to unopened figures and bought most of the Vintage line, and the my luck, the Vintage figure rang up for $4.48 a piece! I got eight Vintage figures for the price of four Movie Heroes figures.

This Vintage wave seems to focus solely on the Phantom Menace. There were twelve figures total, but I only got eight on them, though I may be back since they were so cheap! I will eventually do individual figure reviews, but for now I'll just give a brief description of each.

First up, Episode I Qui-Gon (Final Battle). This figure is very cool, it comes with removable cloth cloak and as always, a green lightsaber.

Second, Episode One Padawan Obi-Wan (Final Battle). This figure is very similar to Qui-Gon, but slightly shorter. He also comes with a removable cloth cloak and his blue lightsaber.

Third, Episode One Padawan Anakin Skywalker. I thought this was a unique figure. I remember an Anakin figure from the Episode One theatrical release, but I don't recall it having a lightsaber. Along with the blue lightsaber, it also includes a helmet that covers his eyes and a practice drone very similar to the one Luke uses in Episode IV.

Next, my entire reason for buying any figures yesterday, Final Battle Darth Maul. The figures were neat, but Darth Maul really was the deciding factor on whether or not to buy them. He has an amazing head sculpt that I clearly didn't show in the picture... Anyway, he has a removable cloak, removable rubber hood, two lightsabers that combine into one, a "non-extended" lightsaber, and some binoculars. This figure comes with tons of accessories and it extremely cool looking.

Next, Episode One Naboo Royal Guard. This figures is a lot neater than I expected! It comes with a nice plaster, a removable helmet, and a holster for his pistol. Overall, very detailed.

Next, Episode One Darth Sidious. Very cool figure. I had an Emperor Palpatine figure from the Power of the Force 2 series, so I kind of expected something similar, but wow, I am blown away. The figure is very articulate, and comes with a removable cloak, removable hood, an extended lightsaber, and a non-extended one. My only complaint is, I could not get him to stand on his own, but about any stand would fit so it worked out.

Next, Episode One Battle Droid. I have a soft spot for anything that can be used as an army builder, so I had to get it. It fits in with my other Battle Droids and it definitely more articulate than the rest. As with all Battle Droids, it feels a little flimsy but works. It comes with a blaster, and two interchangeable antennae attachments for it's back.

Finally, Quinlan Vos. I'll be perfectly honest, I would consider myself quite the Star Wars fan (or used to at least), but I had no idea who this guy was. I got him mainly because he looks awesome with his dredlocked hair and face markings. I had to do a little research to find out exactly who he is. Apparently, he appears as an unknown character on Tattooine. Either way, it is a cool figure, and I can't wait to fully review it.

Introduction!

2012-01-18T11:47:00.000-06:00

Hello toy fans! I'm going to be reviewing 3.75 inch toy lines starting today. I'm well aware there are plenty of other blogs out there, and I really don't have anything to offer anyone else doesn't already have. Honestly, I probably have less to offer than most, but I'll get entertainment out of this, and if even one person reads this blog once, I'll be please!

I am currently a college student, but I do seem to have quite a bit of free time of my hands, hence the toy collection. I used to collect toys as a kid, but I really haven't now for years. I mainly focus on Marvel Universe figures, but after buying pretty much all of them, I have moved on to other toy lines of similar size. My collection consists entirely of same scale figures, typically measuring 3.75 inches or 3 3/4 inches depending on your preference.

In conclusion, if anyone happens to run across my blog, welcome! I hope something if informative or entertaining to you.
