ESPN sent out a press release that ESPN 3D will now be broadcasting all day every day. There isn’t really much information except for this page with a video with Larry the Cable Guy.

My guess is that they are going to be filming one sportscenter every day and showing that all through the night. Then probably a lot of old world cup games. It’s will be like ESPN classic, but with only the world cup and a few Boise State football games to show. All and all this is a pretty big step toward having more games in 3D.

Here’s to hoping they start doing Mayne Street in 3D, and more regularly.

After the previously announced NBA 3D games. The NBA will have more 3D games on ESPN3D for the 2010-2011 NBA season. The first new game will be on Christmas day, so even more reason to ask for that awesome 3Dtv. The NBA 3D Christmas day game features the Chicago Bulls at the New York Knicks.

The other games that have been added are in Phoenix, with the Suns hosting the Lakers and the Trailblazers on January 5th and January 7th. That being said, here is the full NBA 3D schedule.

Planning multiple events in the same city over a 3D week like this, is the way to make 3D more profitable. The cameras are expensive, and there is limited supply, so they need to be moved further than HD cameras for each game, so playing 2 games in three days at the same location could be huge in raising profits for ESPN3D, and hopefully keep the service around for longer. The cameras are already going to be in Phoenix for the College Football National Championship game, so it makes perfect sense that they would add these games in Phoenix.

In the future, this seems like a simple thing they could do. For example if ESPN knows in advance that they are going to be putting the preseason NIT on ESPN 3D, why not work with the NBA to have the Knicks have a home game the next day. They could even take it one step further and work with the Big East to schedule a Rutgers or UNCONN game around that weekend so they do not have to move the 3D equipment as much.

This will slowly become less problematic as 3D equipment moves more toward the norm, but for the time being, this is a simple smart way for ESPN to produce more 3D events, and save money doing it. It seems the executives at ESPN are very smart, so I expect to see more games like this.

UCLA at Oregon will be filmed in 3D on ESPN 3D and will be the first game from ESPN Thursday night college football that will be broadcast in 3D. The Ducks have one of the nation’s most exciting offenses and maybe the game’s most exciting player in LaMichael Keodrae James (great middle name). UCLA has showed one flash of being good, and that was at Texas. Other than that the Bruins have been average at best.

Below is the 3D schedule for college football as of 10/12. Also check here for the full 3D schedule that will update as more games are announced. Also check out the ESPN 3D schedule for all confirmed 3D match ups on that network.
