Finding a Church Part 1

While walking my granddaughter to school today, I noticed a building set off to the side a few mintues down the road.
On my return trip home I discovered that the building was not a church, but a senior citizen center. In the distance however, I did see a baptist church.
I walked on a little further to investigate, this church has a daycare center, I entered and had a nice talk with a Ms. Moore.
My plan was to return and fellowship there. But God had a different plan in mind.

Well I went to one of our local food pantry's, they had Eggplants just harvested from a community garden.
I have never had the pleasure,or truthfully the desire either to eat this vegetable in any way or form.
I figured it was time to bite the bullet.

this is the pasta sauce I used, I added a teaspoon of sugar to each layer because the children like their sauce a little bit on the sweet side.

When you are handed lemons, you can make a sour face or you can make lemonade. Many things have happen to me in the last year some good some not.

Here is my lemonade, this is where I will be doing a great deal of my online work over the mext few months. I'm at the public library.

Yes, it is not ideal, but still I press on.

I was on YouTube trying to learn how to earn an income, when I came across the YouTube blog and this video.
All I could think was I do not want to watch this, but I knew I could not turn away.

You see my first grandson has Autism, I have so far been waiting 8 years for him to speak again.

I am going to find a way for him to get the touch screen technology so he can speak to us, his family.

Looking back on 2012, Reflections

Found Looking back at the year of 2012, it was the worst year for me personally. Never in my 53 years of living, did I once think I would be in a homeless situation.

Especially with my grand children in tow, but God has been good to us. We never once had to sleep outside (came close to it).

I prayed a great deal before moving in with my daughter and grands,
I believe that His plan was to have us struggle and return to our hometown to take care of other family members.

Since, I have been back I've applied to just about every business in the area that was hiring, to no avail.

So I have taken matters into my own hands with prayer and good networking skills I have HIRED MY SELF. Taking what I have learned in the past I have decided to work on my on-line business as often as I can.

I know that this is not going to happen over night, but I have faith.

It's all I need.

As hard as it is to believe, we could not get the proper class situation for him. After five weeks of DeKalb county jerking us around, we went back to where we know he will get the education and independent life skills he needs.

Friday September 28th, 2012. I'm back, this time I don't have any reservations about using this Ministry.

Using my phone to still record this journey back to self reliance.

I've been in Saginaw around 8 days now. So much has changed in 7 years. The housing market has been hit pretty hard. So many abandoned houses, stripped of plumbing, siding, furnaces and no one is taking any action to prevent blight.

We still face the prospect of being on the street, a former co-worker of my daughter offered a place for us to live with her, but she was lying. When the time came for her to pick us up she did not. She had a ton of excuses, sorry we could not believe not one of those excuses.

These are my babies, we were in a closet and a stairwell for 7 hours in the Georgia heat. Waiting for this person to pick us up!

Now why a person would want to see another suffer this way is beyond me.

Day 4

Today is day 4, we have until Tuesday June 12 at noon to occupy this room. It is almost noon today, I have a pot of pinto beans cooking, serving those with rice. At least I can still cook for us. We are waiting for the social agencies to see if they are going to be able to help us.In the mean time I am doing whatever I can think of to get our room rent together. We need at least $185 that includes the taxes for one week. At this point I have no shame. It is unfortunate that we do not have any family in Georgia that we can stay with for the next month or so.

Homelessness in the United States

To be considered homeless, a person must meet the federal definition of homelessness set forth in the McKinney Act of 1987. According to federal law, a person is homeless if they:

1. Lack a regular, fixed, and adequate nighttime residence (or)
2. Live in a shelter or transitional housing residence for homeless persons (or)
3. Live in a temporary residence for persons waiting for institutionalization (or)
4. Are sleeping in a place not intended for human beings (or)
5. Will be evicted within one week from their home (or)
6. Will be discharged within one week from institutions where they have lived for more than 30 days in a row and they have not found a place to live and they have no money or other resources to find a place to live.

Persons in jail are NOT considered homeless while in jail. Persons living in housing with relatives or friends are NOT considered homeless.

According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's 2008 Annual Homeless Assessment Report, the most common demographic features of all sheltered homeless people are: male, members of minority groups, older than age 31, and alone. More than two-fifths of sheltered homeless people have a disability. At the same time, sizable segments of the sheltered homeless population are white, non-Hispanic (38 percent), children (20 percent), or part of multi-person households (33 percent). Approximately 68 percent of the 1.6 million sheltered homeless people were homeless as individuals and 32 percent were persons in families, around 512,000 people.[HUD, 2008]

Back in the Saddle

That is what it feels like, doing the day to day parenting that you forget about.
Like a schedule:

6 am rise personal hygiene for all
dress the two older ones (9 and 5 years old)
catch the bus
breakfast at 8 am (for the two boys 1 and 2 years old
start dinner 10 am
cartoons
snacking
lunches (why do you two eat so often)
nap time
getting your siblings off the bus 2:30 pm - 2:45 pm
more snacking
homework
playtime
dinner 6 pm - 7 pm
baths
bedtime (kitchen is closed) 8 pm

And there were diapers to be changed on three boys the whole time. Constantly cleaning something or somebody all day long. I would not trade it for the world (yeah, I am surprised to feel like this).
