For Christmas, its going to be epic this year with record number of family members attending meaning at least 40 ha half of that being kids, then its onto holiday month with a camping trip fingers crossed, the are so excited about that :) should be fun

because Roderick is 18 months and still not talking I was quite a bit concerned mainly cause even though he is a boy and they sometimes go slower I was going by Ray who has been earlier in almost everything so far to Leona and Roderick, anyway read this post below on babycenter and he does everything on it so my wonderings are gone for now ...heres hoping he starts talking soon!!! :)

Most children have learned to say at least one word by the time they're 12 months old and it's unusual for a child to not be speaking at all by 18 months. But although it's not typical, your child's situation is not necessarily cause for concern, either. Boys, especially those under two, tend to develop language skills more slowly than girls, and some more cautious and reserved children tend to wait until they understand a great deal of what they hear before they actually speak.

Look for these signs of language development:

• Does your child point? Pointing to something he wants or to pictures in a book is closely related to the beginning of actual speech.

• Does he seem to understand what you say? The ability to understand language precedes the ability to talk. If your child seems to understand a great deal of what others are saying, he's well on his way to talking.

• Does your child use gestures and facial expressions to communicate? Many children communicate what they need non-verbally, and in fact most toddlers develop a host of non-verbal signals. Until about 24 months the fact that your child is making some kind of effort to communicate is more important than a large vocabulary.

• Does your child grunt? This may seem a strange question, but new research shows that the little grunts toddlers make while pointing to pictures or playing with toys are actually a kind of commentary. Children who aren't yet talking and don't grunt are more likely to be diagnosed with a language delay later on.

If your child isn't showing these signs of language development, you may want to mention it to your health visitor at his 18-month development check. (You are responsible for taking your child to the clinic for this -- you won't be called in automatically.) In general, the earlier a language delay is detected, the easier it is to treat. Many language problems can be treated very effectively during the pre-school years leaving no long-term problems.

I'm heaps relieved its finally out now just waiting to get past the swollen ouchy phase, didn't sleep much for the first 2 nights so the days after that were complete hell at least the first day Leona was brought home from school by a classmate and his mum which she loved, going in others ppls car is a special treat for both her and Ray :) then the next day was a teachers strike so there was no school, so no need to go out they just played computer games...now its weird cause the stitch has been in my cheek nowhere near to area they sutured and it hurts in my cheek at that spot where the knot is and only that spot is still swollen...not sure if I should clip the knot and take it out or just suffer till my checkup next Tuesday...it seems from what I have read on different online forums that the travelling of the stitches seems to be a common thing, hmmm

So we had a successful and fun party today for the kids...although I think this is the last year we will do them together, there was alot of back and forth between them"its my party" "no its my party" etc etc :) They loooove seeing friends and cousins, and of course getting presents :), and they were not disappointed...will get some pics up soon

went to the Aquarium for the first time today and it was a different experience for us...took the train in...found our way, forgot to print the vouchers so waited to get in for almost a hour(tried to send the vouchers from my phone to their e-mail to print but it wasn't going thru so finally Zeth had to go find a internet cafe to print them arg) but once we got in it was awesome, the kids loved the glass tunnels most of all I think, having the sharks and stingrays swimming above us was amazing...this is the pic we took on the way in, unfortunately Ray was having a moment and would not look, everyone was having a moment being frazzled by our wait :(...anyhoo we are now bushed not getting home till 7:30, tomorrow 3 applications go in...FINGERS CROSSED!!!

update: I found out just now from another computer that blogger has added new fonts!!! its about time :)

I have been trying to change the font but it keeps freezing on me so hopefully its readable now :)

We are all pretty congested, Roddy man the most which is sad cause he is not sleeping at night and has a hacking cough...hopefully it will be done with next week as we have big planes for my birthday...First a zazi makeup party at Anaiks where we will eat drink and get makeovers(and hopefully buy some good quality mineral makeup) and then to the fiddler for some dancing...I have till Saturday to get better :)

so many things are going on right now that it seems crazy to sit down and try to untangle thoughts but anyways here goes, we are househunting again and to put in a nut shell we want someplace where we can have open space, animals, but also be near a school/pre-school too as I want to start studying something, I'm having a look at the different Tafes and what courses they offer etc so thats what we are looking for, I'm still on L's but hope to get onto P's soon after we move as its a must as every sane person knows :) starting to sort stuff and get rid of as much as possible then comes the packing moving mission, need to also somehow sell Leonas school uniforms, she only used the summer for one term and the same with the winter one so they are in good nick still and costed a small fortune, the girls one is double the amount of the boys :(
Roddy man has been so adventurous its so much fun watching him explore and discover, getting a fridge lock was the best thing cause then I stopped trying to keep him out of the kitchen when all he can get are plastics cupboards and drawer and he has fun with those so I don't see the harm as long as I'm keeping a eye.

Happy Birthday to my gorgeous big 1 year old boy, he is such a little honey pie and his favorite thing at the moment is listening to ppl sing, playing outside, eating anything and everything, waving hi and bye, playing with puzzles, he is also starting to draw and he is completely night weaned and sleeping through the night!!! he also walks everywhere and has 4 teeth :) I love my bunny

Well Derick is about to turn one and so I have been thinking alot about his birth and the last year and it just amazes me at how fast they learn and grow, the years seem to creep by at a snails pace but then all of a sudden they are grown if that makes any sense at all :)

I'm also very happy with Leona's progress at school in only one term, she has so many friends too which is so nice for her, she was also quite clingy at bell time and I would have to walk her to the line but that last few days she has been running off to play with a little wave of goodbye, its cute and heartwarming and a little scary to think of them becoming more and more independent but we all know its good for them too

I'm also constantly amazed at how at the tender age of three Ray is such a great big brother to Derick...he is so loving and Derick obviously loves him too and always perks up when I say Rays name :) Leona is a little more wary of Derick touching her and interrupting her when she is writing or drawing or playing and will give him kisses but she is not as attached to him and Ray is, I can always count on him to make baby happy if I'm busy and if Derick needs a distraction, its just so sweet :)

must must must keep the blog up..., so Roddy is 9 1/2 months and has his first tooth coming thru, he is very sick and miserable, poor bun.

Ray doing so well with pottying and goes completely by himself, I;m very happy he was so easy, now just to night train...

Leona is about to start school and she is very excited, just need to get a few more things like shoes and a lunchbox and she is ready, it will be a little different without her most of the day but not that much seeing as I still have the 2 boys at home...

oh yes Friday is my driver knowledge test yay, I'm so excited and nervous but hopefully by Friday afternoon i will be a L plater...can't wait!!!

I got him a bath seat which I started using to sit him upright while on the couch...today 22nd I sat him at the table while the other kids did a craft and he sat happily for over a hour, talking, playing with paper etc :)

He is getting quite ticklish now and giggles when tickled, he also has started hysterically laughing when he is tired anything you say will bring out the cutest laughs, I love this age, he is so much fun to play with, he can also hold himself up with his arms when on his tummy and has started rolling in every direction...poor thing has also been crying in his sleep lately which starts with grunts and moans but turns into hysterical crying until he fully wakes up :( its very sad to hear we also had a day out at the Bella Vista farm which was fun, the kids ran around chasing bubbles for ages
