I was introduced to Nutella a few years ago by a good friend of mine - and have been addicted ever since. But to be honest, I always kept it stashed away as a treat for myself (hubby and kids were banned from my jar of Nutella). I also always enjoyed it later in the afternoon or after dinner as a treat (spread on some graham crackers is one of my favorite treats). <br /> <br /> Nutella for breakfast? At first I thought Nutella was crazy! But let me tell you - my kids are in love (as well as the 13 other kids that were at our house)!!!! <br /> <br /> I received the necklace in the mail a few weeks ago and have had a chance to wear it a few times already!&nbsp; Everytime I wear it, I am always receiving compliments!&nbsp; It is a square pendant with 12 round amethyst stones in it.&nbsp; My husband and I went on a cruise last week together without our kids, so this necklace was definitely worn one of the nights at dinner.&nbsp; I really love the necklace - it is the perfect size and length.&nbsp; I remember as a kid one of my favorite toys to play with were all my Barbie dolls.&nbsp; My parents still have our Barbie playhouse in the attic (and possibly her convertible too)!&nbsp; My 3 year old daughter is just starting to get into Barbie dolls - so when our DVD arrived in the mail and she saw it, she was immediately excited and couldn't wait to watch it!<br /> <br /> Overall, we enjoyed the DVD.&nbsp; We enjoyed al the&nbsp;fashion, sparkles, glitter and glam as&nbsp;Barbie traveled to Paris to&nbsp;help her aunt (a fashion designer) save her fashion business!&nbsp; Definitely a great movie to help us all "discover our inner sparkle"! &nbsp; As you've probably read before, I really try to not use paper towels in the house anymore and instead use rags for clean up and washcloths to clean off the kids hands and face.&nbsp; I came&nbsp;across a few blog reviews of Skoy Cloths and immediately went to their website, because the product really intrigued me.&nbsp; It is a reusable, washable and 100% biodegradable cloth that&nbsp;is used instead of&nbsp;paper towels and sponges.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;One Skoy Cloth can be used over and over again to replace up to 15 rolls of paper towels!!&nbsp; <br /> <br /> Skoy was founded by two stay-at-home moms (Michelle &amp; Karen) who live in Encinitas, California.<br /> <span lang="en-US" style="language: en-US;"><em>"Our story is quite simple. We had a desire to share a cloth that is better than any cloth we have ever used and was environmentally friendly.&nbsp; We started to do a little research and were shocked to see how people were cleaning their kitchens. My hope was to go there without any kids, but instead I went this morning with all 3.&nbsp; Why do I continue to do this to myself?&nbsp; I ask myself this question all the time because everytime I walk out of that store with my kids, I swear to myself I will never do that again.&nbsp; Here's how this morning went....<br /> <br /> When I pull into the parking lot, I remind everyone of the rules - (1) no taking things off shelves without asking me and (2) no asking for anything.&nbsp; Only 2 rules, so it should be pretty easy (at least I think so). <br /> <br /> When we get inside, my 19 month old wants to sit in the seat of the shopping cart and my almost 3 year old daughter wants to sit in the back of the shopping cart.&nbsp; I'm thinking to myself "yay!" - only my 4 year old is "loose" in the store.&nbsp; I try to hurry and get to all the aisles I need to before I know someone starts to fuss.&nbsp; But, my older daughter decides she needs to use the potty.&nbsp; <em>Of course!</em>&nbsp; Do you know that everytime I take her to either Michael's or JoAnn's she needs to use the potty?&nbsp; (Even she has gone right before we leave the house and she's had nothing else to drink since then).&nbsp; For some reason she loves to complain about the smell in the Michael's bathroom (very strong cleaner) and she loves to comment about the hole in the wall at JoAnn's.&nbsp; Can I just say - frustrating!&nbsp; <br /> <br /> And then my 4 year old spots some toy that he <em>really, really, really</em> wants.&nbsp; Tears come and he then follows me down each aisle crying about how much he now "needs" that toy.&nbsp; Yes, I was that annoying mom in the store who lwas oosing total control of her kids....<br /> <br /> So once one starts, they all seem to chime in....then the baby started to get upset because her older sister wasn't letting her hold anything that mommy was buying.&nbsp; And now she is refusing to sit in the cart so I must carry her if I don't want her standing.&nbsp; I rush to get in line and as my older daughter is helping to put everything on the counter, her elbow hits a box of huge bouncy balls (seriously, who puts a box of bouncy balls on a too small counter at the check out ares?) so they all go bouncing down to the ground.&nbsp; As my son tries to collect them, I go ahead and pay (and forget to use my 40% off coupon).&nbsp; In the midst of all that, the woman behind me (who is probably close to 80 years old) asks "are all those kids yours?".&nbsp; With a smile on my face, I look her in the eyes, and respond "yes, of course they are".&nbsp; Her response "oh".&nbsp; What was she trying to get at?&nbsp; I <em>only</em> have 3 kids.&nbsp; So many other people have many more kids than I do.&nbsp; And it really isn't all that uncommon to families to have 3 kids.&nbsp; And what business is it of hers?<br /> <br /> So anyway, I get handed my receipt (and see a new 40% off coupon which triggers my memory of the coupon I forgot to use) and am about to walk away when my son comments that he's still holding the package of buttons and scotch tape that I wanted to buy - he had never put them on the counter. I also think it is even more important to teach each new thing we've learned about saving our planet to our children, as they (along with their own children) will be here much longer than you or I.&nbsp; <br /> <br /> So when I received a big box in the mail, my kids were ecstatic and couldn't wait to see what was in it.&nbsp; When I openned it and all they saw were paper towels, tissues, toilet paper and napkins their excitement quickly dwindled.&nbsp; I think they were secretly hoping for some toys!&nbsp; So as they were sitting with me, we emptied out the box together and I explained a few things to them about these "special" paper products: <br /> <br /> <ul><li>All of the items were made from 100% recycled paper content (since they come with me to drop off our recycling each week at our transfer station, they thought it was pretty cool that these could have been made from some of the paper we dropped off to recycle)</li> <li>No new trees were cut down to make these</li> <li>There was no chlorine bleach used for whitening (they didn't know what chlorine bleach was since it hasn't been in our house in over 2 years)</li> <li>There were no added fragrances or dyes (they liked this too because my son gets frustrated with me at the store all the time when he wants some "cool" shampoo or lotion and I tell him he can't get it because there is fragrance or too many chemicals in it)</li> <li>Marcal has been recycling since 1950 which has resulted in millions of trees being saved</li> <li>And that if every home in America switched to any <a href="http://www.marcalsmallsteps.com/">Marcal Small Steps</a> product just once this week, then together over 1 million trees could be saved</li> </ul><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_e_k6Es2NPaA/THcXuf8np3I/AAAAAAAAAtU/lrx2GU1H8fY/s1600/prod_home.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_e_k6Es2NPaA/THcXuf8np3I/AAAAAAAAAtU/lrx2GU1H8fY/s320/prod_home.jpg" /></a></div><br /> As much as we have been working on being a more green family, I can honestly say that&nbsp;we do not regularly purchase recycled paper products.&nbsp; This is for a few reasons; (1) the few we've tried I wasn't that impressed with because they were very rough (not soft to touch at all) and very thin (so not absorbent) and (2) we've switched to reusable cloth versions to replace some of our disposble products (ie: napkins and paper towels).&nbsp; I would love to find a recycled product though that I am happy to purchase where we do not use a cloth alternative (or as a backup for our cloth alternative).&nbsp; <br /> <br /> So how did we like the <a href="http://www.marcalsmallsteps.com/">Marcal Small Steps</a> products&nbsp;in our house?&nbsp; <br /> Overall, I liked all of the products - here is a rundown of each product we tried and tested: <br /> <br /> <strong>Napkins</strong> - we received a sample of standard napkins and a sample of dinner napkins. Let me just tell you my husband was thrilled to have disposable napkins in the house!!! We usually just use cloth napkins at our house, so this was a real treat. Since we were leaving for vacation a week after I received the napkins, I saved them to bring along with us. As much as we use cloth for most things at home, when I'm on vacation, I'm all about making things easy for me - and not having to wash cloth napkins for a week was a treat for me! The napkins worked great - they were thick enough to clean off some of the messiest kid fingers we had during vacation (ie: smores, ice cream, pb&amp;j sandwiches - need I say more?) And the dinner napkins were more formal and looked nice on a table set for dinner!<br /> <br /> <strong>Paper Towels</strong> - the paper towels worked very well!&nbsp; They were very absorbent and comparable to any other brand of paper towels that I have used.&nbsp; Their paper towels come in two different styles: standard and the "u-size-it".&nbsp;&nbsp;I also saved our paper towels for vacation (we use mostly cloth paper towels in our house, but I&nbsp;always keep a roll on hand for those unusual messes that I just want in the garbage a.s.a.p.).&nbsp; So I felt that I was able to do a more thorough review of them while using them on vacation - they worked great at keeping the kitchen clean in the rental house!&nbsp;With a house full of 7 adults and 3 kids I can't even begin to explain some of the cleanups we had! <br /> <br /> <strong>Toilet Paper</strong> - everyone in the house liked the toilet paper. A few weekends ago, we took a hike together at a state park down the street from us - the kids all had so much fun!&nbsp; The day was so hot out, so it was so nice to be in the woods (lots of shade!!) to let them explore and run around. <br /> <br /> Why stay on the path when there are cool rocks to climb?&nbsp; I had forgotten that I promised the night before that I would blow up their kiddie pool for them to play in the next day.&nbsp; I had also forgotten where our pumps were (we have both a hand pump and an electric pump).&nbsp; So after some wasted time of looking for the pumps, I decided to give it a try just blowing it up with my own hot air!!!!!!<br /> <br /> Almost 2 hours later (yes, 2 hours!)&nbsp;- I did it!!!!<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; Tommee Tippee sent three products to review: a spill proof water bottle, a weaning bowl with spoon, and a non slip easy mat.&nbsp; </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br /> </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br /> </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I reviewed all three of these products with my 17 month old daughter (although my 2 1/2 year old daughter has also used all of the products because she just can't resist anything that is pink!).&nbsp; To be honest, I was a little nervous to review the spill proof water bottle with my younger daughter because she has proven to be <em>VERY</em> picky with her sippy cups.&nbsp; It took me over 3 months to find her the "perfect" cup - you know, one that she would actually drink out of!&nbsp; But I was very excited when she took this water bottle rather quickly.&nbsp; I think she liked how it was very similar to her older brother and sister's cups so she thought she was being a "big girl"!&nbsp;&nbsp; As her mom, the things that I liked about it were: </div><ul><li>it is BPA free</li> <li>it was actually spill proof!&nbsp; The cup ended up on both my couch and in my car and we didn't have any leaks :) </li> <li>it is super easy to clean - I'm so tired of fancy spouts and attachments and straws to keep track of for all of our sippy cups in the house - this just has one piece that pops in and out very easily!&nbsp; </li> </ul><br /> The weaning bowl with spoon was a very cool product!&nbsp; The bowl is good size bowl for a toddler and includes a spill proof top (where the spoon attaches too).&nbsp; And the way the spoon attaches to the top, the part of the spoon that goes in the baby's mouth is covered, so it's perfect for on-the-go moms and dads!&nbsp; I always hated when I would be so organized to pack my kids' lunches before heading out for the day, only to realize at lunch time I forgot the kids' spoons (you know, the ones that actually fit in their mouths?).&nbsp; With this contraption, I am guaranteed to always have their spoon on hand :)&nbsp; <br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_e_k6Es2NPaA/TEpECCFvxMI/AAAAAAAAArk/Etw-a0fMY-4/s1600/tommee+tippee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hw="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_e_k6Es2NPaA/TEpECCFvxMI/AAAAAAAAArk/Etw-a0fMY-4/s320/tommee+tippee.jpg" /></a></div><br /> And when you are at home (I say this because I'm not really that organized where I would ever remember to bring along this in my diaper bag), the weaning bowl can be used with the non slip easy mat to help keep your baby's bowl on the table.&nbsp; The mat is a rubbery type material and when you lay it out on your table, the mat sticks to it so your child cannot pick it up and spill everything that is on it.&nbsp; I know I stopped using placemats on our kitchen table because it drove me crazy when one of the kids would grab a corner of it and then everything went flying (plates, bowls, cups, etc.)!&nbsp; The top of the easy mat has a suction cup that can be used to hold the weaning bowl in place (so baby can't knock over the bowl).&nbsp; I've read that the easy mat will work with most other brands of bowls and plates too, but I didn't try it.<br /> <br /> So how did this work at our house?&nbsp; It worked okay.&nbsp; I used it for my 17 month old and the first day she had a bowl of cereal with the bowl&nbsp;attached to the easy mat and&nbsp;it worked great.&nbsp; She tried to tip over her bowl but wasn't successful.&nbsp; By day 2 though, she had it figured&nbsp;out and was able to&nbsp;get the bowl&nbsp;detached from the mat.&nbsp; Lucky for me though, she wasn't really interested in trying to figure it out until she was almost done eating (so messes were not as bad as they could be!).&nbsp; I think this product would be great for someone younger, but at her age, she is stronger and able to pull them apart.&nbsp; I would definitely still recommend this product for someone with a baby at a younger age who is looking for something to help them&nbsp;to get their baby to eat more independently.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> So are you wondering where you can get your hands on some of these products for your little ones?&nbsp; Of course, wouldn't you know, he came home the first day and was sick (so had to miss the second day).&nbsp; Camp was only 4 days so I felt bad that he had to miss a day.&nbsp; On the 3rd day, he went back to camp.&nbsp; While he was there, I took the girls to our weekly library storytime.&nbsp; I had a feeling that my son might feel bad that he missed out on storytime this week, so I made a point to pick out a few dinosaur books for him to read when he got home.&nbsp; <br /> <br /> So when I picked up my son from summer camp and we got to the car, he saw a pile of books on the seat and my daughter's arts &amp; craft project and asked what was there.&nbsp; I explained we had gone to the library and told him that since he couldn't come this week, I picked up a few dinosaur books for him (and one that was about a dinosaur who was sick and trying to feel better - just like he was the day before).&nbsp; My son then looked up at me with a huge smile, gave me a hug and responded "that is why you are the greatest mommy! thank you!"<br /> <br /> So if you are wondering how you can be the greatest mommy out there, according to my son, it only requires you picking up a few books for him at the library while he's at summer camp :)&nbsp;
