The director Céline Tricart has made several short movies, two of them in stereoscopic 3D : 'Reminiscence' (2008) and ‘Inner Fire’ (2010), both received awards in international festivals. During the last three years she has worked as a stereographer, notably for the first French 3D stereoscopic movie ‘Behind the Walls’ by J. Lacombe and P. Sid, (film set for release june 2011). Jim Cummings: "The Flamingo was a two week production that we shot in 2011. It took more than a year to edit and complete. All of the 3D aligning and syncing was done by hand in final cut pro.
We made the film as a gift to the 3D community and as a way of telling different stories in 3D. Too often as a 3D TV owner do I see nature documentaries or action films or movies that were edited for 2D audiences and the 3D is an addendum.

This movie was shot and edited for 3D. We purposely implemented long takes and wide shots because those are more pleasant to view in 3D.

We also purposely used long takes, the interest level of the audience is longer for a 3D movie. The introduction to the brother character, played by me, is such a long take but it isn't boring in 3D. The length of the shot allows the audience to look around the lobby and take everything in.

We really hope to make more movies like this in 3D, we have just completed a screenplay for a 3D thriller/horror film. We look forward to working more with the 3D community to be able to tell 3D stories in new ways."

Plot Details

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Plot Details
