I was with Globe since time immemorial.

I can't forget how my mom gave me my first ever mobile phone when I graduated in high school. I was passive right then on having a network of choice but I chose Globe. Ups and downs came my way and my one reliable mobile phone stood by me... through thick and thin. It was a witness to having reunited with my then girlfriend now wife MEL. For every rendezvous, for every gimmick during our then single days, my Globe networked phone is always an accomplice. Now, what more?

I am already a family guy of three kids with my latest kid just newly born two months ago!
I may have passively noticed how Globe has been my constant companion on my travel through life... I know this one reliable connection will keep me connected on my every special and usual days of life.

My Globe story far stretched from my high school graduation, rendezvous with my then girlfriend, starting my family, getting a new job or even checking out my social networks and Googling my fave topics using my Globe Broadband and many more. I knew getting into Globe let me fulfill a bigger purpose in life... and that is through serving God with my God-given talents.

Apart from my usual everyday life of being a dad and also a full time 3D artist at an architectural firm, I am also our church' music director... and the church' motion graphic designer too!

I just feel like giving out my talents to Whom it is due. It was never an obligation but a gift to Him. Since I've been into our Music team, I feel like a part of me has been fulfilled. I feel like giving the best shot for the one who deserves the very BEST. .. and only the best! How Globe paved the way to getting me connected with our every church member during weekend rehearsals was not mere special but a day to day service that I get to enjoy because I am reliably connected to Globe. What more? 98% of our church musicians are with Globe? Need I tell more?

What's more remarkable is our recent church anniversary. We've been into our church building project for almost 5 years now.. and I 'm glad to be part of such great move to greatness. Two years ago, we had our first church service to what was then a humble newly constructed, roughly-walled-and-floor church... but it was a STEP OF FAITH. I was tasked to model the church in 3D from the architect's plan. It was days and nights of constant communication with our church pastor and even the contractor. Need I say more again? We were both using Globe. Our pastor is on postpaid while I am using our Globe tattoo SIM for phone calls too.

Last April was it's 4th year-still-in-construction.. but this time it was for the kid's ministry. We felt the need, we really want to get the kids sheltered in a decent place. It was God's plan... and I know we can still pull this through. I made a presentation to be presented during our 4th anniversary as well as our Facebook page. It was simple... with a message that could hopefully touch the hearts of everyone who will watch it.

I may not have come up with a good concept and visuals without our Broadband stick. I may not have completed the details without constantly communicating with our Pastor.And blessing may not have come our way if not for the good who saw the post in FB.

Now we're an inch closer to our dream house for our kids ministry.Truly no good deed has ever been wasted and it will never be in vain. Blessings may come simple as having a good 3G or 4G connection. Having an HSDPA signal on the broadband and that... but what if it's not there? It's like an air that we breath... essential yet invisible and passively appreciated.

More than on the bragging of having a great job for Globe, I think what's more proper is that it gets me connected right at the moment I needed it the most. It was as simple as saying, I had the great times of my life without noticing that Globe was also there with me all the time... all the while.

The Road to Greatness Starts @HOME

The road to greatness may have never run as smooth and as easy we may want it to be, but having someone to accompany us along the way increases the probability that we'd reach the END of the ROAD... SUCCESSFULLY!

Just as I may have the same mantra in life since I got married and got kids of my own, I love that Globe is keying into the importance of one's family in the HOME as a MAJOR ROLEPLAYER in achieving one's dreams and aspirations. Indeed greatness ought to start @HOME!

As parents we have always had HIGH HOPES for our kids. I have two, a girl and a boy, and I know I can never be more than thankful that they came and graced our lives with utmost joy ever since. The mere fact that they can be around us each day, to play and cuddle with us , to lighten us up after a tiring workday, to cheer us up with their antics and stories... that's more than enough for us to find ourselves COMPLETE and ACCOMPLISHED in some way or another.

My little David has had some sort of magic everytime. He never failed to bring something new for us every time. He is some sort of joker and player. He catches our attention with all sorts of moves and funny antics. Someday, I'm seeing and artist or performer in him. Little by little, the traces of my past, being a real adventurer and fun-lover seemingly reflects his every move. I can't believe but marvel... in four years time, my little DAVID has really grown BIGGER and SMARTER. If I can stop the time, I'd probably will. I can't believe, our little baby will soon be reaching newer and broader heights!

Last year, he has just got a chance to play part of a Sunday School performnance. It was a Black Theater for kids and his role was pretty simple, wave hands, sit and go with the music. It may have been that simple and short but I believe, big things just ought to start with really small ones.

We have shown real support for this cute kid by joining him all the way from practice during the holy week break until the day he'd be performing on stage with other kids. He may have been the youngest but at this very moment during practice, I knew he really concentrated a lot. For once, he listened to details, he focused and gave attention to his mentor... with that I WAS ELATED! My playful buddy is now starting his road to GREATNESS... and I can't be but excited to travel that road with him...

Come the day of the performance, we were as thrilled! The play may have only shown silhouettes of our little buddy performer but surely we are his greatest fan. He may not notice us around due to the shadows all around and the darkness that covers all over... we surely are just watching him from afar... looking and watching after him... and getting seriously excited over his next achievement.

I may have never known how my dad could've been so proud of me if he sees me now, just like I see my little David, but I know the feeling of being a DAD is more than winning in a battle of the band or owning my long-coveted car. With my son slowly growing up and taking the centerstage... I can't help but just be on FULL WATCH. I want to see his every move. No matter how simple, no matter how short, no matter how easy or hard or bitter or sweet... I just feel like wanting to be by his side and TRAVELLING THE ROAD TO GREATNESS with him!

Every performance may lapse and come to an end, every milestone may be overturned by an even bigger one and every dream may have been achieved and a new dream will soon be born... but as for me, I want to visible for my son's every performance, milestone and dream. I want him to see me around, as he grows, as he live, as he achieves as he travels his road to greatness.

When our little David becomes a big man already in a few years time, he may be reaching farther and broader than the simple black theater performance that he has once had... but it would always give me the fullness of joy that when my little David starts looking back... He sees me around, together with him, cheering for him... all the way from the engine start, to the full throttle, to the every banking and pitstop and change gear and until the race is finished and until he has completely traversed the ROAD TO GREATNESS which fore-mostly started @HOME!

The story of music in my life has gone through different eras. Each generation marks a significant milestone that forever will be written as a major heading in my autobiography. I say music is my PAST, my PRESENT and my soon to happen FUTURE. And this is my entry for the Unbox Audio-Technica M50 Professional Headphones Giveaway.

Today I'm taking the time out to talk about my long-lost dream... to become a ROCK STAR. Who never wished anyways? Haha!

MUSIC IS MY PAST

My teenage years was marked with my having a new guitar that started a new hobby that I once thought to be SEASONAL.

Yes I went with the flow. I love joining the bandwagon of seasonal enthusiast. Tried YO-YO, card and magic tricks, roller skating, biking and the like.... and if there's one thing I'm proud of these hobbies is that I ALWAYS GIVE MY BEST IN WHATEVER I'M INTO. I spend a lot for my hobby. It's on the full exertion of money, time and effort that I get my rewards and ultimate enjoyment of my passion.

And my love for music all started with that single desire to be the best, extract my full potential and UNLEASH THE ROCKSTAR IN ME.

I can still remember those days when I have to save for my baon in school just for an hour of practice at a music studio. My late night and early morning finger exercise to train the flexibility and reach of my fingers in hitting the strings. My hard drive getting full with bass video tutorials. My every attempt to win a battle of the bands. Winning is more of a giveaway... it's the chance to performance upstage before a large crowd, give my all and show them what I've got that really gives the thrill down my spine for every pluck and tap that I render on my BASS on stage.

And my effort just truly paid off. We won quite a number of battle of the bands and got my best bassist awards, we've got some late night gigs at the bar, got our first album recording and I even got the chance to perform on a concert at an SM Cinema. It's much like having the gold medal in olympics or garnering first place in a math competition. The feeling is surreal. I am getting a bit nostalgic now.

My music and my colorful past, being a musician has molded me towards a higher calling that I am into right now. While I used to play in what my Lola would say Banda Rito Banda Roon- much like a street musician and barkadahan, I am now playing part of a church band. Still the same old street music and barkadahan- but for a RENEWED FOCUS AND BRAND NEW PURPOSE.

MUSIC IS MY PRESENT

I have always believed that the training I've had in my past is in preparation for something even bigger. The discipline, the skill, the talent- everything just fell into its proper place for me to be able to be what I am right now.

When I got married I never had time for my late night gigs and short time music jamming at a nearby studio. I, for some time, said goodbye to my music... until I found a new avenue to channel and PLAY MY PASSION.

I am now the church' music director and I'm happy.

It's not just the bass that I'm holding right now, it's the entire team of brilliant musicians that I am tasked to direct. It was a great honor and I'm blessed for this calling.

Apart from being a bassist, I bought my own electric guitar and start my six-string experience as the lead guitarist. I know I can still push myself to the limit. I know I can offer something more.

Now it's no longer on being the performer of the night or the best bassist that I am looking forward with an every performance. It's for every heart that we get to touch and bring closer to worship to God that I get my ROCK STAR AWARD. It's on offering my every head bang, my every jamming, my every performer of the night award, my every rock and roll to my God that I've found true bliss and contentment. Yes, I am finally the rockstar that I've always dreamt of becoming some few years back... and again I'M HAPPY!

Music is my present... it is a GIFT that I will forever be thankful of!

And for being blessed with such present... I am seeing my future as one proud DAD that has passed on its LEGACY TO HIS KIDS!

MUSIC IS MY FUTURE

The moment I knew I already am a dad, I know things will never ever be the same. And it's true.

I never knew I'd be so devoted to music just as I've never thought I'd be a Dedicated And Devoted - D.A.D!

Every time I see some hints of love for music in my kids, I can't help but be proud and excited. I may not have a hold of who or what they want to be in the near future but one thing's for sure, if for once they'll tell me they want to learn my music.. I WILL GIVE THEM MY FULL AND UTMOST SUPPORT!

And here I am being a self-confessed stage daddy for my daughter Cassy...

I rocked, I rock, I will rock!

Just when I thought that my passion for music will soon fade off and season out...I was wrong. Staging some landmarks in my road towards life, my music has now and forever be part of ME. It's utmost significance is on the notion that I was born for it and that I am CALLED FOR IT!

Captain America is my A+ Captain

A captain is a person who is at the head of or in authority over others; a chief or a leader.

While I have been on a popcorn weekend with my kids lately, I came across a few famous "CAPTAINS"!
All of them embody that of a given definition of being a CAPTAIN, so to speak, but yeah, not all captains are just so the same. Some are no good, some are just right and some are just worthy of having an A+ grade!

Here are (for my kids), the most notable captains in our computer screen.

1. Captain Hook - This Peter Pan antagonist has marked my kids of a bad, greedy, full of hatred and coward captain. He is of authority to his men in his ship, but really acts childish when confronted by Peter Pan. His epic HOOKED hand is after a crocodile bite hence leaving him shiverring everytime he hears the tic-tac of wrist watch.

For being coward and unmanly captain I give Captain Hook a grade of "F".

2. Captain Jack Sparrow-
This slightly drunken captain has been through all sorts of adventure in the Carribean seas. He owns a compass that, rather than pointing north, points to the holder’s most wanted possession or desire. His speech is slurred and he seems to be in a constant state of disorientation and confusion. Nonetheless he is just a jolly person, makes a mistakenly right move which eventually saves his fellow and makes him an accidental hero.

For his jolly and hit-and-miss moves and oftentimes being so much linked with "not-so-fine-girls" as a captain I give Captain Jack Sparrow a grade of "B-".

And last but not the least for this list is Captain America...

3. Captain America - Captain America was the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a sickly young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort. Transformed into the pinnacle of human physical potential, he became the Sentinel of Liberty: Captain America. Currently, Steve Rogers has taken the mantle back and is leader of the Secret Avengers.

Captain America's strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability, and healing are at the highest limits of natural human potential. Rogers' body regularly replenishes the super-soldier serum; it does not wear off. Despite his high profile as one of the world's most popular and recognizable superheroes, Rogers also has a broad understanding of the espionage community, largely through his ongoing relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. He occasionally makes forays into relatively mundane career fields, including commercial arts, comic book artistry, education (high school history), and law enforcement.

For being expert in combat strategy, survival, acrobatics, military strategy, piloting, and demolitions yet truly humane superhero, I give him a grade of "A+".

And because such captains are as remarkable and truly outstanding, I myself have been dreaming of being one. I have never dreamt really of heading a ship or a plane, but something that is far more worth - MY FAMILY. Being a father is like being a captain- AUTHORITATIVE BUT JUST... STRICT BUT LOVING.
And as for my kids, I am hoping they give me an A+ grade too as their captain.

Just got my Daewoo Racer ignition system replaced because of a SIMPLE WIRE!

January this year, we just got our distributor motor replaced. It was a diagnosis after our car stopped by a gasoline station at Deparo, Caloocan on a Sunday morning as we are about to go to church. We just didn't know why it stopped running. We parked the car in the gas station, looked for mechanic and even added some fuel incase it just got dried up!

But no, it was actually the Distributor Motor Assembly that has got damaged. We had no idea that this would happen since we just got a periodic maintenance last December. So needless to say, we have to buy a new distributor motor. There is an OEM and a replacement one. The OEM costs P7500 and the replacement costs P3500. We chose the more expensive OEM of the thought that this one would last longer and has better performance. So yeah, we got the car running after getting a mechanic to install the distributor for us. We shelled out another P1500 for installation. So it has been almost P10k that flew away just that! But for the sake of the comfort of having a car, we just let that P10k go!

By the way, I made a compilation of all the contact numbers of all Daewoo Parts Supplier that I have researched over the net. Here's my share for anybody's reference:

But the sad story just never ended there. It was a series of erratic idling, hard starting motor and misfire that we have been experiencing after the installation. But the car still runs, so we thought it will get better sometime. (We thought!)

Til then, last week of April. Amost 4 months after the distributor motor replacement, the car just won't start anymore. From then I knew, something in the ignition AGAIN is causing the problem. Got the idea on how to diagnose the possible cause when I saw how the mechanic tested every part of the system when our car broke-out last January. It really pays to watch them and learn from such experiences.

So going back to the story of the almost-giving-up-car.Did a research too. I knew it was the ignition coil this time. So yes, we got it replaced. Good news that it only costs P600 at GoogGear (at Libertad,Pasay). So that faithful morning hereafter, we had the ignition coil replaced, and ALAS! -the car just STILL WOULDN'T START!

Again, I knew it!We have to unfortunately BUY a new Distributor Motor Assembly! We just bought a replacement and I installed it myself. I won't go wrong, that was just so easy, I learned how the mechanic did it before. Also I consulted the manual for COMPLETE and MORE PRECISE instruction. Thanks to a forum, I got this Daewoo Racer Manual. (Here's a forum that you might find useful for your Daewoo repair needs!)

So yes! The car worked this time!But idling and misfire just couldn't stop. What must STILL have been the problem?

By then we brought it to the auto-electrician and got it checked for electrical problems. They said the electrical system is OK! So we felt relieved! They advised us to have the TIMING checked!

At a Petron and Shell station, their service bay offers timing via timing light. That's a more precise one. We headed to Petron. The moment the service-crew grabbed the high-tension wire, he got grounded. He told us to replace the high tension wires with an OEM because the one newly-installed in our car is a DEFECTIVE one! And that was it! The OEM costs P1200 while a replacement only costs P350.

After replacing the High Tension Wires with an OEM ( anything but the orange one!), our car did ran back smoothly at 10km/L.

Yeah! It was the culprit! We never thought that it was that single-most-important wire we replaced last December caused us to replace our distributor motor TWICE in 4 months plus the ignition coil on the side.

Now we get to bring the car again to the office everyday. Thanks to that HIGH TENSION WIRES that surely caused us BIG TIME!

I've got a 96-model Daewoo Racer as my first ride from my hardly earned money. I got it quite cheap considering that it was handed over to me newly car painted. I saved approximately P20, 000.00 for the car repaint. It runs 12km/L saving us P1200 per month on transportation cost as compared to taking a cab. This ride that we have obtained gave us much pleasure and comfort than headache. It is the first ever car that I drove so it served as my guinea pig in driving - got my driver's license by practicing driving using it. Moreover it serves as a service for my family every time we go to church on Sundays and let us enjoy weekends and holidays anywhere we want - just a drive away with my kids and wife on board. It has practically served its purpose on us. This precious faithful SULITCAR is a SUPER SULITBUY for me and my happy family.

New Year, New Look and New Groove for our Faithful Precious Ride

A few weeks back, I gave my car some happy holiday treat by shedding off some extra bucks for its periodic car maintenance. Come this new year's season, I felt it necessary to have some nice groove inside my ride, so I dressed it up with a brand new car stereo, 3-way speakers plus an auto tint replacement and a power antenna to complete the new groove package for my faithful Woo.

Near my office along Delmonte Avenue, Quezon City is a chain of car accessory shops and that's where we decided to bring our car. We arrived there too early and thought the shops would be closed because that day, December 27, 2010 is a holiday. Fortunately, SPINNER car accessories shop opened earlier than the other shops within the strip so we decided to have our car fixed there.

For auto tint we chose 3M, it's our trusted brand. We made sure it's authentic so we really checked the box if it's made in US and not China, so as I may say, yes they do sell authentic 3M auto tints there at Spinner car accessories. There are also small dotted 3M marks in the car windows after installation which added to our confidence that it really is not fake. Anyways, got my windows and a portion of my front windshield installed with heavy tints so as to prevent too much heat from penetrating in my skin and in the interior of the car. The heavy tint for windows was ideal, looked almost opaque from outside but viewing from inside the car was much less translucent. On the back window, we preferred a medium tint so as to allow visibility specially at night driving.

For our car stereo we chose Pioneer 2250UBG. It's pretty ordinary but will serve its purpose on us, especially the 3.5mm jack and USB connectivity where I will be able to play music directly from my phone or from my USB drive. It will also allow us to connect our notebook for a movie joyride with my kids on board. We have also installed a power antenna in the car for better radio tuning and also as an added groove to my ride a.k.a mobility with style.

I chose a JBL GT0938 for my speakers. Quite pricey but truly worth the price for two 100W-3-way speakers. For a musician on board, high quality speakers such as a JBL speaker surely is a BEST BUY!

Bought that Pioneer 2250UBG stereo quite higher priced than SRP but since the installation is free so I'm pretty sure I paid fair. I commend the workers of Spinner car accessories for exerting much effort on the installation of my speaker and stereo. They did woodworking just to fit in my stereo to my dashboard. The stereo slot in my dashboard was quite off standard so they really had a hard time doing it. After some careful measurement, pattern making and power tool cutting, they painted the carved wood black so it really took much effort on their side just to install my stereo. They also made a housing for my speakers because it is oval shaped as opposed to a previously round shaped enclosure that I have for my previous speaker.

The half day wait and extra bucks shed for the new groove on our ride was worth the take. Traffic jams and daylight heat won't hassle the driver and the passenger on board with this new year, new look and new groove of our faithful precious ride.

Periodic Car Maintenance of My Woo-Racer

I've got a 96-model Daewoo Racer as my first ride from my hard earned money. I got it quite cheap considering that it was handed over to me newly car painted. I saved approximately 20,000 Philippine peso for the car repaint.

Daewoo has lost popularity here in the Philippines and so they have to re-badge some of its products as Chevrolet Optra and Cherry QQ. It was a fickle-funny-fate for me to see a few Daewoo cars being driven around the metro on my way to the office. Some people just gotta say it was not a wise buy and having one like that surely is a headache. And I say it's true, it's really hard to own one, the parts are scarce and really it would kill much time looking around Banawe and Mindanao avenue to find for car parts.

But the catch is this, we have the internet now! There's no more hard time driving around, wasting some precious fuel to look for spare parts of an old car. I found good advices from car forums and blog sites of Daewoo racer owners like me. And true enough, I've got a one-stop-shop for all the parts and periodic maintenance for my car and I know they are all just a phone call away. I called every contact to inquire about my needed parts, decided where's the most fuel efficient route to go there using GoogleMaps and walla... my Woo is on its first periodic maintenance.

For Auto Supply, I found Capitol Auto Supply along Commonwealth Avenue ( Across Meralco and Convergys Commonwealth Branch ). They've got all my auto parts needs right there. The staff has been so accomodating and their parts are priced cheap. They are along the road so it's really easy to locate their store. The day we were there, they were a boom! They've got lots of customers, maybe because of them being nice to us.

They've got their own mechanics and a machine shop on the side aside from their auto supply shop. It's really a one-stop-auto-shop.

Fo my car's periodic maintenance, I've had change oil, fuel and oil filters changed, gear oil replaced, spark plugs and break pads replaced and airconditioning systems fixed.

For airconditioning, the Demeter John Car Aircon and Auto Electrical Shop along Commonwealth Avenue , North Fairview part, is the one that I can recommend. I saved much because they do repair rather than replace damaged parts of the fan of my car.
