Three media drivers, three dynamic cars, and sportbike showstoppers take centre stage at South Africa’s premier motorsport event.

Suzuki Auto South Africa is shifting into high gear for the 15th annual Simola Hillclimb, returning to Knysna from 1–4 May 2025 with a line-up that celebrates performance, accessibility, and sheer driving joy. Reaffirming its commitment as a Tier One OEM sponsor, the Japanese carmaker will once again take charge of Zones 4 and 8 – the latter affectionately dubbed the Suzuki Esses – where thousands of fans gather for a visceral close-up of speed and skill.

But this year, Suzuki isn’t just turning up – it’s turning heads.

Three Drivers. Three Cars. One Epic Hill.

Continuing its tradition of empowering South African motoring media to experience the adrenaline of Simola first-hand, Suzuki is fielding three unique vehicles across the 1.9 km hill course, each piloted by a respected journalist and seasoned racer.

Ernest Page – Fourth-Gen Swift GLX

First up is Ernest Page, familiar face from the small screen and longtime automotive content creator, who will be tackling the twisty incline in the all-new fourth-generation Suzuki Swift GLX. Beneath its compact hood is Suzuki’s new Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, pushing out a sprightly 60kW and 112Nm.

While those figures might seem modest in a field often dominated by high-output machinery, Page is counting on the Swift’s featherlight HEARTECT platform, recalibrated suspension, and agile handling to make up ground.

“The last time I raced up Simola with a manufacturer was back in 2016,” says Page. “So it’s great to be back – and I’m really intrigued to see how the new Swift performs under pressure.”

With his background in club racing and extensive vehicle testing experience, Page is sure to wring every last drop of performance out of the pint-sized powerhouse.

Jeanette Kok-Kritzinger – Swift Sport

Joining Page in the hotly contested A1 class is Jeanette Kok-Kritzinger, who brings racing pedigree and pace in equal measure. An ex-Group N production car competitor and SA Women’s Land Speed Record holder, she’ll be commanding the fiery third-generation Swift Sport, known for its punchy 1.4-litre turbocharged BoosterJet engine delivering 103kW and 230Nm – all while tipping the scales at just 970kg.

“I’ve wanted to do Simola since the first event back in 2010,” she says. “The Swift Sport is perfectly balanced – light, responsive, and quick through the corners. I can’t wait to see how far I can push it.”

Chasing a class record of 53.551 seconds, Kok-Kritzinger’s return to the competitive cockpit promises to be a highlight of the event.

Sean Nurse – Jimny GLX 3-Door

Proving that performance comes in many shapes and sizes, Sean Nurse will climb Simola in the Suzuki Jimny GLX 3-Door, a fan favourite more accustomed to trailblazing through muddy tracks than tarmac. Entered into the B9 class (for bakkies and SUVs), the Jimny’s robust 1.5-litre petrol engine makes 75kW and 130Nm, and is paired with Suzuki’s rugged AllGrip Pro 4WD system.

“It’s not your usual hillclimb contender,” Nurse admits, “but if the weather turns – and it often does – that four-wheel-drive grip might give us a surprising edge.”

As the 2024 Toyota GR Cup Media Challenge champion, Nurse has the precision and composure to hustle the compact off-roader to a memorable finish.

Two Wheels, Maximum Thrill

Not content with dominating the four-wheeled stage, Suzuki is also injecting two-wheeled theatre into the 2025 edition with GSX-8R sportbike demonstration runs. Piloting these nimble machines will be none other than Nicole Purificati, rider in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship, and Tristin Pienaar, a standout in Junior Superbike racing.

Their high-speed dashes up the hill are set to showcase the balance, agility, and performance of the new GSX-8R, adding even more spectacle to Suzuki’s already rich offering.

“Performance for All” – Suzuki’s Hillclimb Ethos

For Suzuki Auto South Africa, Simola Hillclimb is more than just a motorsport event – it’s a celebration of accessible performance and the joy of driving, no matter your horsepower count.

“Although the spotlight often falls on the mega-power machines built for pure speed, we’re here to show that excitement isn’t measured in kilowatts alone,” says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager for Suzuki Auto South Africa. “This year’s driver line-up, vehicle mix, and our GSX-8R showcases all reflect our brand philosophy: great engineering and real-world fun for every kind of enthusiast.”

The Final Word

From compact hatchbacks to 4×4 icons, from turbocharged thrills to two-wheeled dynamite, Suzuki’s 2025 Simola Hillclimb campaign promises variety, entertainment, and plenty of surprises. Whether you’re a diehard petrolhead or just along for the ride, make your way to Zones 4 and 8 – and prepare for a show.

See you at the Suzuki Esses.

In a move that reaffirms its commitment to customer satisfaction and long-term reliability, Suzuki has announced a significant enhancement to its already generous Service Activated Warranty. From 1st May 2025, all Suzuki customers in the UK and Republic of Ireland will benefit from a newly extended 10-year Service Activated Warranty scheme – offered entirely free of charge.

Initially launched with a seven-year limit in Spring 2023, this upgraded programme is designed to provide unparalleled peace of mind to Suzuki drivers – extending protection well beyond the industry norm and demonstrating the brand’s philosophy as “The Trusted Car Brand for Those Who Are Proud to Be Different.”

What’s New – and What Makes It Stand Out?

Suzuki’s enhanced warranty programme provides continued cover once the original manufacturer’s warranty (three years or 60,000 miles) expires, so long as the vehicle is booked in for its next scheduled service at an authorised Suzuki dealer. This activates the new warranty period, which lasts until the next service is due – and this cycle continues until the vehicle reaches 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

There’s no catch, no hidden fees, and no complicated exclusions – just a seamless extension of confidence for owners who service their vehicles through the Suzuki network. From major components to genuine parts and expert repairs, customers benefit from a safety net that not only protects their investment but also enhances resale value, as the warranty is transferable to subsequent owners during the 10-year period.

It’s a loyalty strategy built on transparency, trust, and tangible value – one that puts Suzuki ahead of the curve in an increasingly competitive automotive landscape.

Leading the EV Charge with Industry-Beating Battery Cover

Coinciding with the forthcoming launch of the e Vitara – Suzuki’s first fully electric vehicle, arriving this Autumn – the brand is doubling down on its commitment to long-term support. The e Vitara will be backed by an industry-leading 10-year EV battery warranty, outpacing the standard eight-year coverage offered by most rivals and exceeding current regulatory expectations.

It’s a bold, forward-thinking gesture that underlines Suzuki’s confidence in its engineering, while sending a strong message to EV buyers who value both environmental responsibility and long-term peace of mind.

A Strategy Built on Trust and Customer-Centric Thinking

Commenting on the new warranty programme, Denis Houston, Director Aftersales at Suzuki GB PLC, said:

“At Suzuki, customer experience and retention are paramount. The extension of our Service Activated Warranty will certainly enhance this for the future, ensuring our customers get the best levels of service, fitment of genuine parts, and avail of the expertise within our dealer network – rather than going to a non-franchised repairer once their manufacturer warranty expires. Offering this warranty free of charge for both UK and Irish customers is something we are very proud to do as a strong message of trust and care.”

In line with this commitment, the Service Activated Warranty is also available to Suzuki vehicles purchased privately or those with a gap in their dealer service history – making the offer as inclusive as it is generous.

Backed by Awards – and a Proven Track Record

Suzuki’s reputation for reliability and customer care is well earned. The brand has won numerous industry awards in recent years, including recognition at the UK Customer Satisfaction Awards (UKCSI) for its innovative Customer Feedback Strategy. Notably, Suzuki was also named winner of the Trusted Quality Provider category just two years ago.

Further affirming its leadership in customer satisfaction, Suzuki has ranked as the Number 1 Automotive Brand in the UKCSI eight times since 2019 – a level of consistency rarely seen across the industry.

As Suzuki prepares for its next chapter with the all-electric e Vitara, its unwavering focus on customer experience, trust, and long-term value ensures it continues to set the benchmark in the industry. With the new 10-year Service Activated Warranty and EV battery coverage, Suzuki isn’t just promising peace of mind – it’s delivering it as standard.

In an exciting new development for grassroots rugby in South Africa, Suzuki Auto South Africa has launched an inspiring corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of rugby stars. Partnering with the Humanitarian Empowerment Fund (HEF), the Japanese automotive giant is set to bring a nine-month programme to the schools of Gauteng’s West Rand. The initiative will focus on training, developing, and promoting young talent in Rugby Sevens, with the ultimate goal of preparing them for the competitive world of professional sport.

A Shared Passion for Sport and Development

Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager of Suzuki Auto South Africa, expressed the brand’s enthusiasm for this new venture, underscoring how integral sport has been to Suzuki’s legacy. “Sport has always been something close to the brand’s heart,” says Carpenter. “Last year, we proudly became the naming sponsor of the Griqualand West Rugby Union (GWRU), home of the Griquas, a momentous partnership that celebrated top-tier rugby. However, we understand that the journey of a rugby star begins long before they step onto the professional stage. This is why we’re excited to team up with HEF and support grassroots rugby development.”

The partnership with the HEF reflects Suzuki’s commitment to not only supporting elite teams but also giving a leg up to aspiring players from disadvantaged communities. The programme is set to run from April to December and will pilot at four schools in the West Rand region: Newclare Primary, Everest Primary, Dowling Primary, and Claremont Primary. If the initiative proves successful, Suzuki and HEF hope to extend the programme to more schools across Gauteng.

More Than Just Rugby Training

The focus of this initiative goes beyond skill development on the rugby field. Carpenter explains, “Aside from nurturing young talent, the project also aims to promote healthy lifestyle choices and impart essential life skills. Through rugby, we hope to teach discipline, teamwork, and resilience, which will help the children in all aspects of their lives.”

To further motivate the young players, Suzuki and HEF will host two annual competitions under the banner of the Suzuki Sevens Development Tournament. This exciting tournament will not only provide an opportunity for players to showcase their talents but also expose them to a wider audience, inspiring both the participants and the local community.

A Seamless Partnership for Logistics

Ensuring the smooth running of such a programme requires more than just coaching expertise. To support logistics, Suzuki Auto South Africa is providing two of its versatile Ertiga MPVs. These seven-seater multi-purpose vehicles will be used to transport players and supplies between training sessions and competitions. The Ertiga, one of Suzuki’s best-selling models, is powered by a 77kW/138Nm 1.5-litre petrol engine, offering a practical blend of performance and efficiency. With flexible seating configurations and ample luggage space, the Ertiga is the ideal vehicle for the job.

“We’re confident that the Ertigas will prove to be perfect teammates,” says Carpenter. “Not only are they practical, with excellent running costs, but they also embody the values of reliability and teamwork that are central to this initiative.”

A Bright Future for South African Rugby

Clete Stevis, Founder and Director of the HEF, is equally optimistic about the programme’s potential impact. “We are excited to have Suzuki Auto South Africa as a sponsor and partner in this venture,” says Stevis. “I have faith in the programme we are developing, and I firmly believe it will help uncover a new generation of future Springboks. Watch this space!”

This new collaboration is just the latest in Suzuki Auto South Africa’s ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots sports. Since 2022, the brand has been involved with the Imvuselelo Sporting Organisation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Thembisa, dedicated to getting young people onto the soccer field and away from the perils of crime and substance abuse. Suzuki has supported this initiative by contributing to prizes, paying referees, and assisting with the upkeep of the organisation’s football pitch.

Building a Legacy

By supporting young athletes at the grassroots level, Suzuki Auto South Africa is playing a pivotal role in developing the future stars of South African sport. The collaboration with HEF is more than just about rugby; it’s a step towards fostering a brighter, healthier, and more resilient future for youth across the West Rand. As the programme continues to grow, there’s no doubt that it will have a lasting impact on the rugby landscape—and who knows? Perhaps the future of South African rugby’s next superstar is already in the making.

Suzuki GB PLC has once again proven its unwavering commitment to excellence in customer service, securing a prestigious win at the 2025 UK Customer Satisfaction Awards, held in London on March 4th. This year, Suzuki was honoured with the award for its outstanding Customer Feedback Strategy, adding another accolade to its growing list of achievements. The award marks a significant milestone in the brand’s customer service journey, following a previous win just two years ago when Suzuki was recognised as the Trusted Quality Provider.

Suzuki’s entry for the Best Customer Feedback Strategy was submitted on behalf of both its car and motorcycle divisions, showcasing the brand’s comprehensive approach to understanding and responding to customer needs. The competition was fierce, with Suzuki being shortlisted alongside organisations from a wide array of industries. The judges, a 34-strong panel of industry experts, evaluated how organisations collect, measure, and act on customer feedback. In Suzuki’s case, their success was attributed to their clear, structured strategy that has led to consistent improvements in customer satisfaction and overall performance.

Suzuki’s ability to make it easy for customers to share their feedback, along with its robust process for closing the feedback loop, was a key factor in securing the award. This strategy has ensured that Suzuki maintains the highest customer service standards and continues to be a leader in customer satisfaction across the automotive industry. Notably, Suzuki has ranked as the top automotive brand in the UK Customer Satisfaction Index (UKCSI) eight times since 2019, a remarkable achievement that underscores the effectiveness of its approach. In the most recent UKCSI, over 278 organisations from 13 different sectors were evaluated, with Suzuki consistently outperforming competitors in its sector.

Commenting on the accolade, Denis Houston, Director of Aftersales at Suzuki GB PLC, expressed immense pride in the company’s achievement: “We are immensely proud of our achievement in winning a second UK Customer Satisfaction Award that once again clearly reflects the ever-strong commitment to our customers.” Houston emphasised that the award was not just for the brand but for everyone involved in delivering exceptional service at Suzuki, adding: “Rather than being an award for our brand, this accolade is very much for the people of Suzuki, and we would like to express our sincere thanks once again to our employees, dealers, and suppliers for their consistent and strong commitment to our customers who have, of course, been instrumental in this.”

Jo Causon, CEO of The Institute of Customer Service, praised Suzuki for its dedication to customer feedback: “Congratulations to the teams at Suzuki GB for picking up the Customer Strategy Feedback award at the UK Customer Satisfaction Awards this year. Properly collecting, analysing, and understanding customer feedback is a cornerstone of successful service strategies, and this award seeks to recognise that. Well done to all the team, and I hope you continue to build on this success.”

This victory reinforces Suzuki’s commitment to placing its customers at the heart of its business. With a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service, Suzuki continues to lead the automotive sector in ensuring that every customer’s voice is heard, valued, and acted upon.

As Suzuki looks to the future, this award serves as a testament to the power of customer feedback in shaping a brand that consistently delivers on its promises of quality, reliability, and service.

Suzuki has yet another reason to celebrate as the Swift Hybrid secures victory in the small car category at the prestigious 2025 UK Car of the Year Awards (UKCOTY). This latest accolade reinforces the Swift’s reputation as a practical, well-equipped, and budget-friendly option in an increasingly competitive market.

A Resounding Endorsement from the Experts

A panel of esteemed judges rigorously tested the latest Swift Hybrid against its key rivals, ultimately crowning it the winner. Their praise highlights the vehicle’s remarkable value, efficiency, and practicality:

Alex Robbins: “Practical, good-value small cars are few and far between these days, but it’s Suzuki to the rescue with the Swift, which provides honest motoring at a reasonable price, and with low running costs to boot. It’s good fun to drive and comes with plenty of equipment, even in its most basic form.”

Trinity Francis: “The Swift strikes the right balance between good value, economy, and curb appeal. Although it’s a small car, its square proportions make the boot space – especially with the seats down – very practical.”

Natisha Chatten: “An unbeatable combination of reliability and efficiency, thanks to its straightforward powertrain. In a market filled with complex vehicles, the Swift offers a refreshing simplicity, all while maintaining an affordable price tag that makes it accessible for a wide range of drivers.”

Balsall Common, UK – In a bold move set to redefine youth driver training, Young Driver—the nation’s leading pre-17s driving school—has invested over £2m in a fleet of 170 brand-new Suzuki Swifts. The switch from the increasingly unreliable Vauxhall Corsa to the greener, mild hybrid Swift marks a significant step forward in safety, efficiency, and overall driving experience for the company’s young clientele.

A Clear Winner for Young Learners

After 15 years and nearly 1.5 million lessons, Young Driver has built an enviable record: only 3.3% of former students have been involved in accidents within the first six months after passing their test—far below the national average of 20%. However, persistent issues with the previous fleet of Corsas, which had become a liability in terms of reliability and operational efficiency, prompted a comprehensive review of vehicle options. The decision was clear.

“After reviewing all our options, the Suzuki Swift was the clear winner,” explains Ian Mulingani, company leader and motor industry stalwart. “Our priorities were product quality, durability, and a vehicle that supports low CO₂ emissions and exceptional fuel economy. But above all, we needed a car that was easy for novice drivers to handle. The Swift outperformed the Corsa in every respect.”

Tailor-Made for New Drivers

The new Suzuki Swifts come packed with features designed with young drivers in mind. Thanks to their compact dimensions—the Swift is 200mm shorter and 30mm narrower than the outgoing Corsa—the vehicles offer enhanced manoeuvrability. The lower scuttle and widely adjustable driver’s seat have also been instrumental in lowering the minimum height requirement for drivers, meaning that youngsters as short as 1.4 metres can now take the wheel. This design change effectively drops the minimum driving age from 10 to nine years old, providing more children the opportunity to build early driving confidence.

Senior instructor Lance Peake is enthusiastic about the benefits:

“Even kids who have just reached our 1.4-metre threshold will feel more confident and comfortable in the Swift. With standard features like satnav, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera—and even heated front seats for winter lessons—the car is perfectly suited to our needs.”

A Fleet Built for the Future

The fleet is predominantly composed of 160 Swift Motion models, each powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, 12V mild hybrid engine producing 81bhp and paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, 10 models come with an optional CVT transmission, tailored for young drivers with impaired abilities who cannot operate a conventional three-pedal system. All models are equipped with He-Man Dual Controls, ensuring that instructors maintain an added layer of safety throughout every lesson.

The decision to purchase the vehicles outright—rather than opt for a lease—was bolstered by Suzuki’s excellent residual value. According to CAP HPI’s predictions, the Swift is expected to retain around 55% of its value after three years and 36,000 miles, a testament to its longevity and reliability. Moreover, with an impressive warranty of up to seven years or 100,000 miles, Suzuki’s reputation for durability was a critical factor in the decision-making process.

Greener Driving for a Sustainable Future

In addition to improving the driving experience for young learners, the switch to Suzuki represents a strategic move toward sustainability. The Swift’s official combined fuel consumption stands at an impressive 64.2mpg, and its CO₂ emissions are a notably low 99g/km compared to the 117g/km of the outgoing Corsas. Young Driver anticipates saving nearly £20,000 in fuel costs alone, reinforcing its commitment to both the environment and operational efficiency.

Suzuki UK’s Director of Automobile, David Kateley, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership:

“We are delighted to be involved with Young Driver through the supply of 170 new Swift Hybrid cars. These vehicles are ideally suited for young drivers, offering efficiency, state-of-the-art technology, and the safety features required to instil confidence behind the wheel. Our collaboration will undoubtedly raise awareness of the Suzuki brand and its commitment to reliability.”

Instant Approval from the Next Generation

The new fleet made its debut at Young Driver’s NEC venue, where students quickly warmed to the Suzuki Swift. Katie, 13, shared her excitement after just four lessons in the new model:

“I have a lot more confidence in the Swift because I get a better view out of the car, and the gears and pedals are lighter to use.”

Similarly, 16-year-old Kane noted the vehicle’s responsive performance:

“It’s more sensitive, with better steering and a smoother engine. And the heated seats are a real bonus on chilly days.”

Driving Into a Promising Future

As Young Driver prepares to roll out the new fleet across its 72 training sites throughout the UK—delivering over 150,000 lessons a year—the partnership with Suzuki heralds a promising future for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible driver training. With every lesson, the company not only imparts vital driving skills to the next generation but also demonstrates how strategic investments in quality vehicles can drive lasting improvements in safety and sustainability.

In celebration of self-expression and passion, Suzuki Auto South Africa has added a fresh dose of visual flair to its popular fourth-generation Swift with the introduction of three exciting dual-tone paint options. This move enhances the stylish hatchback’s already distinctive look, ensuring that it stands out even more on the vibrant South African streets.

Launched in November 2024, the fourth-generation Swift has quickly become a favorite in the compact car segment, winning accolades for its blend of style, practicality, and performance. It’s no surprise that Suzuki has chosen to build upon the Swift’s bold aesthetic, making it even more customizable for the discerning customer.

The sleek exterior design of the Swift marks a significant departure from its predecessor. Restyled headlight clusters, featuring eye-catching L-shaped signature lamps, draw attention from the first glance. A new oval radiator grille with a striking piano black finish complements the updated bumper, which now boasts a more pronounced lower intake for a sportier stance.

The Swift’s profile is equally captivating, with a clamshell bonnet that flows seamlessly into an exaggerated shoulder line. Blacked-out A- and B-pillars reinforce the hatchback’s signature ‘floating roof’ design, creating a dynamic look that radiates youthful energy. The rear design continues this theme with a sculpted tailgate, integrated spoiler, and high-level brake lamp. Adding to the visual appeal are the 3D LED tail light clusters and a wide-set rear bumper adorned with sleek horizontal reflector panels.

The Swift’s exterior design is available in a range of seven striking colours: Luster Blue Pearl, Novel Orange Pearl, Black Pearl, Splendid Silver Pearl, Magma Grey Metallic, Sizzling Red Metallic, and Arctic White Pearl. Yet, for those who desire a more bespoke, attention-grabbing look, Suzuki has introduced three bold new dual-tone combinations: Arctic White Pearl and Black Pearl, Luster Blue Pearl and Black Pearl, and Sizzling Red Pearl and Black Pearl. In each case, the Black Pearl hue is applied to the roof and side mirrors, accentuating the vehicle’s sporty, dynamic character.

Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager of Suzuki Auto South Africa, emphasized the appeal of the Swift’s exterior design, saying, “A large part of the fourth-generation Swift’s appeal is down to its exterior design language. Best described as both youthful and energetic, it’s a vehicle that resonates amongst a broad spread of South African motorists. These new dual-tone paint options – available on GL, GL+ and GLX model grades – massage a little more flair and exclusivity into the mix and will attract the attention of customers seeking to stand out from the crowd.”

The new dual-tone options further cement the Swift’s position as a go-to choice for South African motorists who are looking for a car that not only performs well but also makes a bold, personal statement on the road.

Now available for order at all Suzuki dealerships across the country, the fourth-generation Swift with these striking new paint options ensures that customers can drive away in a car that mirrors their style and individuality. Whether you’re navigating city streets or cruising along scenic routes, the Swift’s new dual-tone look guarantees that you’ll be turning heads wherever you go.

In a year marked by robust growth and dynamic market performance, Suzuki Marine South Africa has emerged as the undisputed leader in the Southern African outboard market. The region recorded an impressive total of 3,200 outboard units sold in 2024—an 8.5% increase that encompasses exports and 2-stroke engines. Yet, it is Suzuki’s outstanding performance in the 4-stroke category that has truly captured the spotlight.

Unmatched Growth in the 4-Stroke Segment

Focusing solely on the South African market, Suzuki recorded the sale of 1,226 4-stroke outboards over the past year. This figure not only reaffirms Suzuki’s position as the best-selling 4-stroke outboard provider in the country but also represents an impressive 18.5% growth compared to 2023. With a rising market share that climbed from 50% to 53.9%, Suzuki’s commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction is clearly paying off.

A closer look at the product lineup reveals that the DF100B was the standout model, with 239 units sold—making it the number-one choice among consumers. Representing 14.9% of Suzuki’s total outboard sales in Southern Africa, the DF100B has set a high standard for performance and reliability. Trailing closely behind was the DF140, which garnered 230 units, further solidifying Suzuki’s appeal across different engine sizes and consumer needs.

Dominance in High-Horsepower and Diversified Offerings

In a noteworthy development, Suzuki experienced its highest growth in the high-horsepower segment (150hp and above), registering a 19.4% increase in sales over the previous year. This surge in demand underscores the brand’s ability to meet the evolving needs of both recreational and commercial users. An interesting statistic from the year’s sales data is that Suzuki Marine sold more DF300’s than DF6’s—a testament to shifting consumer preferences and the company’s adeptness in capturing market trends.

Exemplary Customer Service and Dealer Network Excellence

Behind these impressive figures lies Suzuki Marine’s dedication to exceptional customer service. With a Customer Service Satisfaction Score of 94.4%, the brand’s robust after-sales support has become a key differentiator in a competitive market. This success is largely attributable to the hard work and resilience of Suzuki’s extensive dealer network, whose performance was praised by Tanja Maes, Marine Division Manager:

“Suzuki Marine is the clear market leader in 4-stroke outboards, and we are incredibly proud of the outstanding sales achievements of our dealer network. The results reflect a well-balanced sales performance across all engine sizes and a strong geographic spread, thanks to the dedication and resilience of our dealers.”

A Brand on the Move

The remarkable accomplishments of Suzuki Marine South Africa in 2024 are not confined solely to the marine division. Suzuki’s motorcycle and automotive segments have also demonstrated robust growth, with the automotive division experiencing rapid expansion driven by strong consumer demand. These successes across multiple sectors further cement Suzuki’s reputation as one of South Africa’s fastest-growing and most innovative brands.

Looking Ahead

As Suzuki Marine South Africa reflects on a year of record-setting achievements, the path forward appears equally promising. The company’s unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction has built a strong foundation for sustained growth. With a clear vision and a robust dealer network, Suzuki is poised to navigate the challenges of a dynamic market and continue setting benchmarks for excellence in the coming years.

In summary, 2024 has been a banner year for Suzuki Marine South Africa—a year that has not only highlighted its market leadership in the 4-stroke outboard segment but also underscored its broader role as a trusted provider of high-performance marine solutions. With momentum on its side, Suzuki is ready to sail confidently into a future of continued growth and innovation.

Suzuki Auto South Africa and its extensive network of dealers have set the tone for 2025 by shattering multiple sales records in January. The official naamsa sales report, published on the first business day of the month, reveals a robust performance that not only surpasses previous benchmarks but also highlights the growing appeal of Suzuki’s innovative lineup in the South African market.

A Month of Milestones

In January 2025, Suzuki sold 6,399 new passenger vehicles—a new overall record that eclipses the previous high set in November 2024 by 370 units. This impressive achievement is segmented into:

Dealer Sales: A record 4,534 units were transacted through dealerships, surpassing the former record of April 2024 by 42 units.

Fleet/Rental/Government Sales: The figure reached 1,865 units, edging out the November 2024 record by three units.

These milestones have propelled Suzuki Auto South Africa to secure the second spot in total vehicle sales by manufacturer rankings.

The Swift Steals the Spotlight

Among the 16 Suzuki models available in South Africa, the new fourth-generation Swift emerged as the star performer. With 2,628 units sold in January, the Swift not only became the best-selling model of the month but also marked the highest monthly sales figure since June 2022, when 1,925 units were sold.

Introduced in November 2024, the revamped Swift is turning heads across the AB-segment with its:

Exuberant Exterior Styling: A fresh, dynamic design that appeals to modern drivers.

Efficient Powertrain: Powered by the Z12E 1.2L three-cylinder petrol engine, offering both performance and fuel efficiency.

Innovative ‘HEARTECT’ Platform: Delivering engaging driving dynamics with a lightweight yet rigid structure.

Comprehensive Safety Suite: Standard safety features include six airbags (front, side, and curtain), ABS brakes with EBD, Brake Assist Function, Electronic Stability Programme, and rear ISOFIX anchors, along with three-point seatbelts for every occupant complete with audible/visual reminders.

The Swift’s accolades are impressive, having already clinched the 2025 Automotive Researchers’ and Journalists’ Conference of Japan (RJC) Car of The Year award. It is also contending in multiple prestigious competitions, including the 2025 South African Car of the Year (COTY) and the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards, and has been named a Top 10 finalist for the 2025 World Car of the Year and a Top 5 finalist in the 2025 World Urban Car category.

Suzuki Auto South Africa is celebrating a significant milestone as the fourth-generation Swift secures a coveted spot as a finalist in the 2025 South African Car of the Year (COTY) competition. This recognition follows the model’s recent triumph as the recipient of the esteemed 2025 Automotive Researchers’ and Journalists’ Conference of Japan (RJC) Car of the Year award.

Launched in South Africa in November 2024 to widespread acclaim, the new Swift is redefining expectations in the highly competitive AB-segment. Featuring a sporty, modern design, a fuel-efficient 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, and a recalibrated suspension system, the Swift delivers an engaging and dynamic driving experience. Built on Suzuki’s lightweight yet rigid ‘HEARTECT’ platform, the Swift boasts best-in-class safety features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist System (BAS), and ISOFIX child seat anchor points.

The South African Car of the Year competition, now in its 39th edition, is organised by the South African Guild of Mobility Journalists (SAGMJ). The Swift will be evaluated against 16 other finalists across a rigorous set of criteria, including design, technology, engineering, innovation, safety, performance, and handling. The crucial next phase of judging takes place in March at Tshwane’s Zwartkops Raceway, where jurors will put each contender through its paces.

After the track evaluations, the competition’s final scoring round will commence, culminating in the announcement of the overall 2025 COTY winner at a prestigious gala event later in the year.

“What a fantastic way to see in 2025. We are thrilled and honoured to have the new Swift chosen as a finalist in one of our country’s most respected automotive awards,” says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager of Suzuki Auto South Africa. “Making it this far speaks volumes about the car’s abilities, and we hope the jurors continue to be impressed by what the little Swift has to offer as they enter the final throes of this competition. Everyone here at Suzuki is holding thumbs for what lies ahead!”

Adding to its growing list of accolades, the Swift was also named a Top 10 finalist in the 2025 World Car of the Year and a Top 5 finalist in the 2025 World Urban Car category (for vehicles measuring no longer than 4.25 metres), presented by the World Car Awards. Since its establishment in 2004, the World Car Awards has recognised excellence in automotive innovation, with a panel of 96 esteemed automotive journalists from 30 countries evaluating eligible models sold across multiple continents.

As the competition progresses, Suzuki Auto South Africa eagerly anticipates the final results, hoping that the Swift’s outstanding performance and well-rounded attributes will propel it to ultimate victory.
