iPad 2: 5 million for July delivery revealed

Apple is pursuing a broad flight of growth for the production of iPad 2 this summer, so wide as to arouse suspicion. A hardware vendor on behalf of Apple to have explained to the assemblers over five million touch panels for the month of July, as was done in June.

Production could be separated if the rumors about a third to be released in October iPad were true: the upgrade could gradually reduce the production of iPad 2 in favor of a transition to the newer model.

Several companies are involved in maintaining the pace dictated by Apple: TPK Wintek and make the lion's share, with 1.4 - 1.6 million units, followed by Cando, Chimei Innolux, and Sintek Photronic. If correct, the calculation may at outperform those made by Acer, which plans to deliver 800.000 Tabs Iconia throughout the summer, a time when Apple produces 15 million units sold.

Calculated that RIM is estimated to sell 2.4 million devices, however, significantly lower numbers than even the expected, Apple still can not sleep nights sleep.

JVC Victor has announced a new audio system that will work with the iPhone and iPad that will hit Japan

first. The new audio system has some really cool features and comes in several colors. The device comes in two versions that share almost all the same features. The UX-VJ5 has a CD player built in and the UX-VJ3 lacks that CD player.

All the other features between the two systems are the same. Those common features include the ability to dock both the iPhone and iPad at the same time for charging. The system will play tunes from those devices and has a FM tuner integrated. The CD payer version hides the CD door behind the iPad.

The system has dual speakers each with 15W of power. Both of the products have audio inputs and video outputs to hook to your TV or larger computer screen. Another cool feature is that the VJ5 has a USB port and can rip your CDs to MP3 and shoot them to an external HDD. Pricing is unknown, but the devices will hit Japan at the end of July or beginning of August.

iPhone 5 To Be Thinner And Lighter Than iPhone 4?

We are expecting Apple to launch the new iPhone 4 at the same time as iOS 5, some time in September, and have heard a number of rumors on what the iPhone 5 will be like.

Today’s rumor comes courtesy of the Wall Street Journal, who have apparently received some information from Apple’s suppliers, and according to their information the iPhone 5 will be thinner and lighter than the current iPhone 4.

One other thing which they are reporting on is that the iPhone 5 will feature an 8 megapixel camera, this is something we have heard before, and we have also heard that the iPhone 5 camera may be supplied by Sony.

We just mashed our refresh button about a million times to get the screenshot you see above, but it was worth it. JailbreakMe 3.0 with support for the iPad 2 is finally live, and we're already getting word from tipsters who claim to have successfully jailbroken their iPad 2s running iOS 4.3.3, as evidenced by the pseudo-blurry jailbroken Verizon model below. Thankfully, all of this suggests we're not dealing with the dodgy release that was leaked previously, but let us know in the comments how it's working for you this time around and hit the break for another screenshot.

Apple MacBook Pro 2011 Official details emerge

The new Apple MacBook Pro range is official, and it’s quite the star line-up. The entire 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch spread has been updated, with Intel’s Sandy Bridge 2011 Core processors across the board. Apple has also cast out NVIDIA, replacing GeForce GPUs with AMD’s Radeon graphics on the 15- and 17-inch machines. The 13-inch, meanwhile, makes do with Intel’s integrated graphics alone. Perhaps most interesting is the addition of Apple’s new Thunderbolt connector, based on Intel’s Light Peak technology and promising up to 10Gbps data transfer speeds. Full details after the cut.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with 2.3GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and 320GB hard drive starts at £999; with the step-up version including a 2.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and 500GB hard drive starting at £1,299.

Its 15-inch equivalent comes in two models; one with a 2.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6490M and 500GB hard drive starting at £1,549, and one with a 2.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 750GB hard drive starting at £1,849.

Finally, the new 17-inch MacBook Pro features a 2.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 750GB hard drive and is priced at £2,099.

iControlPad finally available for order, shipping next week

The iControlPad hasn't been flirting with vaporware status for quite as long as Duke Nukem Forever but certainly long enough to make us wonder if we'd ever be able to use it to kick some in-game butt before we ran out of bubblegum. We've been tantalized by this formerly iPhone-exclusive adapter since way back in 2008, when it was going to be a simple case with a dock connector that would let you control those emulators with greater ease. It's grown significantly since then, the latest version shown above -- the final version, as it happens. It's now available for order at a cost of $74.99, and we're happy to say that ditching that dock connector and going for Bluetooth has expanded support well past the iDevice crowd, including things like the Motorola Blackflip, Blackberry Touch, and the now-classic G1. Apple's App Store hits 10 billion downloads (update: we have a winner)

Now that the number of App Store downloads to iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads around the world has handily exceeded the population of Planet Earth, we can hopefully put this story to bed until they hit another factor of ten -- and as unreasonable as 100 billion downloads sounds, we'll bet it actually won't take that long. That's right: just a few days after kicking off its online counter, Apple's officially hit the 10 billion mark, which is a whole lot of software any way you slice it. So, Android Market, you're next?

Apple patent application details magical mouse with a built-in display

Could the Magic Mouse be replaced by an even more "magical" input device? It might, if a just-published Apple patent application ever results in an actual product. Described simply as a "computer input device including a display device," the application clearly details a mouse that would have both a touch-sensitive surface and a built-in display.

That the application suggestions, could open up a whole range of new input possibilities, including using the mouse as numeric keypad, a phone, a personal digital assistant, or a graphics pad, to name just a few. What's more, the nature of the collimated glass used for the mouse would also apparently allow it to display a magnified image of anything underneath, and the images displayed would seemingly appear to be directly on the surface on the mouse, and not appear to be under the glass (we're not talking about a regular capacitive touchscreen on a mouse here). Of course, all of this is still just a patent application, and Apple has a long, long string of those that have yet to result in anything -- still, something about this one strikes us a bit more likely than, say, a head-mounted iPhone display.
