I tried to get an n97 upgrade on my current £180 allowance a month contract (similiar to t-mobiles). I pay £35 a month for it including add on internet. I also initially paid £125 ontop, for an nokia n95 8gig 18 months back. Apparently there is non is stock and they are hard to get hold of. They advised to ring back constantly or check my local 3′ stores for avaliable. My contract has been over for a month or so and this constant ringing back and forth will only cost me money interms of missed opportunities elsewhere.

They also informed me that i would have to pay an additional 125 quid for the phone ontop of my existing price plan and be tied down for 18 months. That would work out to more or less 42 quid a month if i were to spread the cost of the phone over the 18 months and thats after the so-called loyality discount !!

I have been 3 customer for nearly 5 yrs and every time i ring up to thier call centres in India, they are very shrewd and act like they are doing me a favour by me staying with them.

Comparing like for like, if i were to sign up as a new customer with t-mobile, i could get on average 600-800 minutes, unlimited text, free internet and free phone for 25-35 quid and thats without any loyality points!! The reception is probably a whole lot better to.

I am going to ring back again and quote some of these offers that i have read online and lets what they make of it. They will probably more or less twist it.

Lets just wait and see, what offers t-mobile and orange come up with the n97. They should be a whole let better.

It seems to me that even new customers signing up to three are getting better deals then existing three users, which is pretty daft especially considering alot these users are probably just signing up for the new n97 and will most likely leave after the 18/24 months is over because the service and offers lack.

Just upgraded from 3 upgrade. 600mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet + 300 3 to 3. Phone came 30/6/09. Checked later with 3, contract only 300 mix and match no internet or texts, £35. Currently in dispute with 3, Beware!!!!!

So you expect us to thank 3 for moving from free roaming for voice and data in Ireland, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Hong Kong, Macau and Australia to charging us far more (up to 90p/minute incoming , £1.40 outgoing voice calls and £3/megabyte)

You’ve got to be joking. 3 have increased prices and cut services. Less than 6 months ago roaming in Europe was only 25p/minute to make calls and 10p/minute to receive them. This small move back towards reasonable prices is nothing to be proud of.

im surprised people are saying they really had to negotiate to get the n97 because im paying £5 a month for 500 mins and i got the the nokia n97, my upgrade was 29th june, arrived 30th june, they just offered it to me on my £5 contract, i did not have to fight for it, BUT i WANT THE WHITE ONE, can anyone tell me if that will be available with three? i love three they’ve been so generous

Hi Vikki,

You don’t need to pay 3 to use WLAN, tho you will likely have to pay whoever owns the hotspot if it’s secured.

ill like an advise on how to use skype on my 3 phone as i have access to it on my monthly contract, but can seem to get the right download software for it.

I am using a Nokia E61, ill need an advise or link to how to use free skype on the phone.

had my n97 come today must say an absolute pleasure to own 1 a great phone with great features and so much to do on it the touchscreen is so good ots better than that on iphone and blackberry storm
i will rate this phone 10/10.
