TV in 3D

The latest 3D technology seems to be a product of modern millennia, which has been brought to the pinnacle of popularity by James Cameron's "Avatar". However 3D has been left unnoticed by electronic consumers during the 1990's. This same technology has been utilized by cable TV to gained ratings.

TV in 3D has been the newest offering of televisions manufacturers to keep people buying TVs. But there has been reluctance and doubt if TV in 3D with its expensive price tag will click among consumers. In the past two years, consumers had been upgrading their digital TVs, and it may seem impractical to spend another dime to upgrade for a new TV set.

But Samsung Electronics, Sony, LG Electronics and Panasonic prove to be unstoppable, as they released their versions of TV in 3D at the consumer's electronic show held in Las Vegas. Clips of "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and Walt Disney Pictures' animated film "Bolt" have been presented by Panasonic in their 103-inch, plasma 3D. The NBC's broadcast of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing has also been shown in high definition 3D.

Aside from the fact that it may not be as practical nowadays, TV in 3D has its' in own share of drawbacks. The fluorescent lighting might elicit flickering effect, and direct exposure to the sun may greatly affect the 3d glasses. Simply consumers couldn't perceive 3d images without the 3d glasses. The two Polaroid filters within the 3d glasses allows some image to pass though one filter, while sending some images into the other which is the reason why depth is seen.

Needless to say the image looks blurry without the glasses. Some claim that when viewers of TV in 3D are exposed to certain flashing images or lights in television pictures or video games, they might experience epileptic seizure or stroke. Motion sickness, perceptual after effects, disorientation, eye strain, and decreased postural stability may also manifest after viewing films in 3D mode. Some professional advice that people, who are in poor physical condition, have been drinking alcohol and those who lack sleep should not watch 3D. It may cause nausea and headaches. Extended 3d TV viewing is also not recommended.

Television manufacturers admitted that TV in 3D is still in its early phase of development. Some technical improvements are still in the process. They are keeping their high hopes that consumers will be lured in bringing 3D movie theater experience in their homes in spite of some issues in its hefty price and physical after effects.

Looks like 3D TV is coming to a living room near you pretty fast, and all the manufacturers of these electric marvels are working hot and heavy on delivering them to a person-tech early adopter hungry consumer. At this year's CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, 3D TV was as popular as the iPhone, Motorola Droid, and the promises of the Google Nexus One Smart Phone.

We all remember as kids going to the movies and wearing those funky 3D paper and flimsy filmed glasses. No, it will not be cheap, but as long as we are all going down this path - perhaps, until the next new thing, Holographic TV and living room gaming - I have a proposal. I propose that we build eye-tracking 3D TV goggles or glasses, so when your eye looks to a certain place, that part of the screen becomes bigger and closer allowing the rest of the screen to become less engaged. Why you ask? Well, it makes watching TV in 3D personal, and each person will get a slightly different and unique experience.

Is such a personal high-tech option even possible?

Do humans currently have the technological advancements to do this?

Yes, and imagine the uses for military, UAV flying, online or living room gaming, or simulator training? Yes, so many applications indeed. So, do we have this technology now? Yes, actually we do have the eye-tracking technology, which registers eye-gaze, and thus, all we have to do is integrate it into our future 3D TV electronic toys.

Now then, does this require someone like me to point this out to everyone? No, because in my view it is a no-brainer possible future and as soon as everyone starts using 3D TV and/or gets used to the AR or VR (augmented reality or virtual reality) gaming, they are eventually going to demand it. So, it's time our best and brightest in the electronic toy entertainment sector get cracking and working on this newest technological concept of mine. Please consider all this.

I tried my mobile phone spy to my parents, sister and friends and it was pretty neat. My cell spy phone software is probably the phone feature that I will really treasure for the rest of my life because even if I'm not a ninja, or James Bond or CIA agent I still am able to do the stuff that they do.

Cable Fiber VS Phone Fiber For Internet & TV

With telecom companies like Verizon, and AT&T rolling out fiber optic networks for television and Internet service, it's understandable if one would question if the fiber networks offered by cable companies use the same technology. You may have heard ads on the radio, or TV touting a particular cable providers fiber network, but unless they're speaking of business class services, they never use the word "optic" with fiber.
True Fiber Optic Networks
Both cable, and phone companies use true fiber-optic networks. The discrepancy comes in at what's commonly referred to as "the last mile". A cable providers network is typically fiber to the node, or FTTN, and data is then transmitted from that point to nearby homes and businesses via coaxial cable. On the other hand, some phone companies use the same method, but also offer fiber to the home, or FTTH connections. Currently, Verizon's FiOS network, and AT&T's U-verse are the only networks that deliver via fiber direct your home.
FTTH Connections
This needs a bit of clarification. While U-verse, and fiOS do offer FTTH in some areas, it's first delivered to an access point, or node. From that point it's delivered to the home via coaxial cable, just like the cable providers, or a fiber cable. Hence the term Fiber to The Home, which simply means the point where the fiber optic line is terminated. I know this is a bit confusing, but to make this point once more, an FTTH connections referrers to the "last mile" being a fiber connection versus a coaxial connection.
Fiber Optic Internet
An internet connection over a fiber-optic network is going to be much faster than the old fashioned copper, or coaxial cable, because of the fact data is being transmitted through light pulses through thin strands of glass, instead of electrical pulses over copper resulting in less loss of quality and a greater capacity to carry data. A fiber optic Internet connection is not shared in the last mile the same way cable high-speed is. It's dedicated, so regardless of if it's FTTH, or FTTN, the connection from a phone service provider in theory should be more reliable than with cable.
Fiber Optic TV
The same principals apply here as with fiber Internet. Because of the technologies involved, phone providers using fiber optic network technology now have the ability to match, or ever surpass the quality of cable television providers. If television service is the same, or isn't a factor, it may come down to bundling options for Internet, phone, and TV, since as mentioned before, you're likely to get a better connection through a phone service provider for Internet than you would with a cable broadband connection.
