Author Interview

1. Can you see yourself in any of your characters?

Unfortunately, yes. I learned a valuable lesson. Never, ever, write a
character based on your own personality. It is a very humbling experience.
The heroine, Reba, is brash, bold, and determined. I now realize that some
people see this as arrogant... that was pretty hard to take, considering she
is a lot like me. But many people do say that she has a good heart so they
can tolerate her - okay, that a little better.

2. Who is your favorite character in Prophecy of the Flame?

Definitely not Reba. She has too many rough spots she needs to work
on...lol.

Szames was always my favorite. The altruistic prince is a true knight in
shining armor. Not to mention that he's totally hot!

3. What is your favorite snack when you write?

Snack? I should take my hands off the keys long enough to get my hands on
food? What a novel idea. Lol no pun intended. The only food that calls to me
strong enough to break through the writing haze would be really good
chocolate from a hometown store called "Lee's." Or perhaps a blueberry
strudel muffin.

4. Do you have any of books in the works?

Two actually. Book Three in the Prophecy of the Flame series: Love's Journey
and a bridge book - Book 2.5 - Love's Reward.

5. It's so exciting Prophecy of a Flame is being made into a movie: Tell us
a little bit about it.

Well, it's not as big a deal as one might think: It's not like Spielberg
called. A local producer and director approached me about doing a movie for
the charity that I donated my book to: Agape (uh-GOP-pay)Assistance. I began
by creating, the Prophecy Project, to produce the movie. I started by trying
to get the word out and do a little fundraising at Kickstarter.com.

Recently, an Oscar nominated Director, a winner of the Sundance Film
Festival Award and an Emmy, has taken an interest in this project. The
Director said, "If Kickstarter tells Hollywood that people love our project,
producers will back the movie with big bucks to make a Blockbuster film."

Now I am totally scrambling, trying to ramp up an event that was just
supposed to be a little "toe in the water" test. It's like, I was sitting
around my house in my PJ's, with my hair all a mess and someone said - get
ready, the Good Morning America camera crew will be here in ten minutes!

Here's how Kickstarter works: they post projects like ours online and people
vote by sending in $1 if they think the project has merit. Our hope is that

all of us will bring our friends along: Every dollar we send to Kickstarer
is vote for our project. It will prove to Hollywood that WE are serious. WE
want this movie produced!

My review:

This is an absolutely wonderful read. I read it in one sitting!! The beginning of this book finds the very responsible, almost to a fault, Emily searching for and accepting a new job where she and her 2 yr old daughter, Katy will need to move in with the ever famous Brad and his 3 yr old son, Trevor so that she can care for Trevor and prepare meals. As time goes by she notices that Trevor isn't quite right. When she first tries to talk with his father about it, he isn't understanding at all. Of course he isn't who would want to accept that there might be something wrong with their child?? But they find themselves working together and face many trials throughout this book. You won't be able to put this book down once you start it. When Brad's ex-wife steps back into the picture is when the book gets really interesting, but I don't want to give anything away, so you'll have to grab a copy and read it yourself.

My review:

Great contemporary romance book!! I read it in one sitting. I was so interested in finding out what would happen between Deri and Cole that I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Linda does an excellent job of getting her readers caught up in an abundance of emotions. At certain points I was laughing, angry, and even saddened by the story line. I couldn't wait to see what the two of them would do next. If you like romance, you won't want to miss The Big Mistake.

She lives in Kansas with her husband and two-year-old daughter.

Author Interview:

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Hmm, I'll let you know when I do!! Okay, okay, truth is I knew I wanted to be an author in the first grade when my teacher praised some really cheesy poem I wrote. I completed my first full-length story when I was seventeen, but it sucked eggs, so we won't go into that. Then I was offered my first contract when I was twenty-eight, and I held my first book in my hands when I was thirty. Of course, I'd just given birth, like, four days before that, so I was all drugged up from pain-killers and don't remember a whole lot of seeing my first book! All of those moments have been big "I just might be a writer now" moments for me.

What books have most influenced your life?

I started out reading The Baby-sitters Club books, so they've been very influential to me. They actually got me into reading. When I was in high school, my sisters were talking about authors like Sandra Brown, Linda Howard, Julie Garwood, and LaVyrle Spencer. The first adult romance book I ever read was by Sandra Brown. From that moment on, I was a confirmed romance junkie and could barely stand to read anything else.

What book or books are you reading now?

Oh, where to start! The Darkest Seduction by Gena Showalter, Irish Rising by Marie Rose Dufour, Between the Lines by Ivy Bateman, Sweet Enemy by Heather Snow, Stripped by Tori St. Claire, Archangel's Blade by Nalini Sighn, and many many more!

What are your current projects?

I'm all excited about Farm Boys Have All the Fun. It's a full-length contemporary romance story that's actually a prequel to The Trouble with Tomboys (which came out in 2010). I wrote 'the end' in mid-February and it still seems to be nagging me. Usually, after I finish a story, all the voices in my head (okay, not literally--that's just a figure of speech!!) quiet down, pacified once I make it to The End and I can go work on something else. But this one keeps dragging me back and re-reading to change little things here and there.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Endings are my biggest obstacle. There are just so many ways you can go with a story once you get so far into it. The challenge is to find the perfect conclusion for that tale.

And finally,

Do you have any advise for other readers?

If you really love it, never give up! If you keep at it, keep working, you will improve and you will find some kind of success!

I wanted to get my giveaways going right away now that I am back.

So I am offering a total of $50 in Amazon gift cards to three of my followers.

The first winner will win a $25 gift card.

The second winner will win a $15 gift card.

And....

the third winner will win a $10 gift card.

Hi everyone!!

I have been quite sick for a few months.

I have been in and out of the hospital, but seem to be doing better now!!

As some of you may know...

I suffer from Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Sciatica.

I have a chronic pain blog as well.
