Quick PDF Library 7.18 has been officially released and is now ready for download. The new version contains a number of significant additions and improvements to the library, including Delphi 2010 support, JPEG2000 / JPXDecode image support, enhanced unicode support and a whole lot more.

Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 will be unveiled to Swedish construction industry

Bluebeam Software will be demonstrating its award-winning PDF editor, Bluebeam PDF Revu 8, to the Swedish construction industry at the Nordbygg trade fair. Bluebeam has recently localized Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 for the Swedish language and will now unveil the product’s capabilities to construction professionals.

Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 was recently launched in February 2010 and it provides extensive digitizing capabilities including integration with other products such MS SharePoint and Bentley ProjectWise. The Swedish version of PDF Revu 8 is available exclusively through FutureCAD, a Stockholm-based software distributor.

Nordbygg is the most important trade fair for the Nordic construction industry and this year, it will be held at Stockholmsmässan from March 23rd to 26th March.

Moyea Software, a vendor for multimedia solutions, announced the availability of its PPT to PDF Converter 1.1 software for Windows 7 and Vista 64-bit.

Moyea Software has fixed the earlier bugs with the software to allow it to run on Windows 7 and Vista 64-bit, and added new conversion parameters to make it easier for users to convert MS Office documents to PDF. The software allows users to embed a new font, choose the right screen resolution and compress the slides.

PPT to PDF Converter 1.1 is available for Windows 7, XP, Vista, 2000 and NT. The software is priced at USD 29.95 per license.

callas software, a vendor for PDF solutions, and Appligent Document Solutions, a vendor for server-based document management products, have announced several server-based bundled PDF solutions. The aim of bundled PDF solutions is to offer efficient solutions to enterprises, government and publishers by bringing PDF conversion together with the PDF/A workflow solutions.

The proposed bundles are built on Appligent’s products for PDF security, variable forms and stamping together with callas’ products to convert documents to be PDF/A compliant. The bundles include the pdfaPilot software from callas to convert the files in to PDF/A compliant format. The server-based products from Appligent included in the bundles are StampPDF Batch, FDFMerge, SecurSign, AppendPDF and APCrypt.

New tool for batch PDF encryption

AWinware Software, a vendor for Windows-based PDF applications, announced a free trial of ’PDF Encryption’ which allows — you guessed it, the batch encryption of PDF files. Separate User and Owner passwords may be set.

The User password is more commonly known as a ‘document open’ password, while the Owner password has the ability to stop a range of activities including printing , copying, form filling, commenting, setting up permissions and many others…

Downloading Your Google Docs Document As PDF

Google Docs is really a wonderful alternative to Office applications where you can create your documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms.

Suppose you have created a “Document” through Google Docs and wanted that document in PDF format. What to do?

Simply follow the steps below.

1- Open your document using Google Docs. Look at figure (1).

2- Click on the “File” option from the menu bar.

3- Choose Download As —> PDF.

In this case, the PDF file will be downloaded to your machine, and will open automatically, in which case you should get something like as shown in figure (2) below.

Viewing PDF Attachments As Plain HTML In Gmail

As you know, as a Gmail user, you can view the PDF attachments directly from within Gmail.

But, did you know that you can view the PDF files in Plain HTML format using Gmail?

In order to do this, simply follow the following steps:

1- Open the email message that contains a PDF attachment within it. Look at figure (1).

2- Click at the “View” link, in which case you should have something similar to what is shown in figure (2).

3- Now, since you want to view the PDF file as Plain HTML, simply click at the Plain HTML link at the top of the page, in which case you should have something similar to what is shown in figure (3).

Foxit Software will be soon releasing a redesigned new version of its eSlick e-book reader which will be pocket-sized. The new device is called eSlick PS (Pocket Size) and is expected to be released in approximately seven weeks. The eSlick supports eReader, ePub, .txt, HTML and PDF documents. Foxit has also included its own PDF Creator Program for users to convert documents to PDF so that they can be read easily on the device.

Foxit Software specialises in PDF solutions and its products are highly regarded as efficient alternatives to products from Adobe. eSlick is the only hardware product offered by Foxit.
