Following Marks post we decided to go check out the Aston Martin DBR9 Le Mans at Avenues.The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the world's oldest Endurance sports car race, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans,France. Its runs on a circuit containing closed public roads that are meant not only to test a car and driver's ability to be quick, but also to last over a 24 hour period.

After a series of lousy coaches and terrible transfers, which has led to their gradual decline over the past 4 years. They've turned to their very own iconic player Alan Shearer to save them this season. Shearer, who amassed some 206 goals in 404 appearances during a ten-year spell at his hometown club, will be officially unveiled at a press conference after leading his first training session on Thursday. You could never take New Castle out of this man and vice-versa and exactly why the team will be playing their hearts out with their new coach who used to don the famous no 9 jersey. The fans will be hoping for a miracle from the man who has been their Messiah in the past

Mangas (Japanese comics), are extremely popular in Japan and well known throughout the world for their unique and awesome storylines. Animes are made based on the respective mangas. The very first anime which got me hooked was DeathNote and just because its an anime doesn't make it a stupid "CARTOON" as some might think.

The series centers on Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook,titled "Death Note", dropped on Earth by a shinigami (death god) named Ryuk. The Death Note grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose face they have seen, by writing the victim's name in the notebook. The story follows Light's attempt to create and rule a world cleansed of evil using the notebook, and the complex conflict between him and his opponents.

There are tons of animes out there but i feel this would be the best to start off with if you haven't started watching animes, as its got an amazing storyline and only has 37 episodes in total.

Young urban educated Indian women have found out a unique way of protesting against Hindu ultra-rightist groups. More than 39,000 people from all over the country and abroad, (including Afghanistan, Iraq and the West) have already joined this group during the last one week as the fastest growing international community, which calls itself the ‘Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women’ (CPLF). They have decided to give pink underwears, (‘chaddis’ in colloquial Hindi) to the chief of Sri Ram Sena, Pramod Muthalik, this Valentines Day. This is a reponse to the Mangalore Pub incident and protest against Muthalik's comments on forceful marriage of couples on Valentine's Day. Show your support by joining the Facebook group.

Update: So far, 16,139 people from all over the city have sent chaddis for Muthalik.

The company's Internet bus will roll through towns in the state of Tamil Nadu, providing connectivity via satellite, and content and instruction in both English and Tamil to people whose only previous exposure to the online world (if any) has been via cell phone or cyber cafe. This is all part of a broader scheme to expand into the Indian countryside, and if the trip is a success more are sure to follow. The company's services already include transliteration, news, bidirectional machine translation, and soft keyboards for a number of Indian languages, and a host of kick-ass Ravi Shankar tunes now available on Google Video.

$20 Laptop ... Fake?

All eyes are on India now. First, India gave us the world's cheapest car. Now comes the world's most affordable laptop. India's government unveiled the jointly-developed "$20 laptop" dubbed Sakshat. The laptop is slated to ship in six months, with specs of 2GB of storage, WiFi, Ethernet and 2 watts of power consumption.

There's still no published image of the thing, or information about the screen size, RAM or processor. Some folks are also still skeptical as to whether a laptop can really be produced at such a low cost, since most LCDs alone would put it over budget. The laptop itself won't be subsidized, but the government will shoulder 25 percent of the cost of broadband for colleges, and there will be free e-learning textbooks available to students online. It forms part of a broader plan to improve e-learning at more than 18,000 colleges and 400 universities.

The Indian machine would also be considerably cheaper than the "$100 laptop", the lime-green computer known as the Children's Machine or XO that was designed by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US.

Fans of Top Gear might want to prepare themselves for another Stig death soon. When "Black Stig" Perry McCarthy revealed himself, Clarkson, Hammond and May "killed" him. The "White Stig" has apparently ended the mystery, revealing himself as 33 year-old Ben Collins. James May claims that there is a clause in the Stig's contract that should his identity be exposed either through his own willingness or via a member of the Top Gear staff (including the hosts of Top Gear), he has to be fired.

Collins has raced professionally in everything from NASCAR to LeMans, and most recently served as Agent 007's double for sequences of Quantum of Solace that required fancy wheel work. Collins himself apparently revealed his day job to the owner of an art gallery in Bristol, England when asking for help producing a limited-edition print of The Stig.

India splutters to halt

I was out last night to stock up on petrol like the rest of the country. The queue was horrible and the pump attenders were playing 'God' deciding who to give the last bit of their stock. In today's morning news, it seem like 80% of all pumps in major cities of India are out of stock. 90% of taxis and autos are not running. Does anyone know how long this strike is going to last?

Update : Cochin wasn't hit so bad. Fuel was available at the refinery pumps on Airport-Seaport Road and traffic was as usual except for the CPI meeting in Ernakulum town. It seems the fuel strike has ended but it will be Monday till everything gets back to normal production. Meanwhile the fuel pumps in metro cities will be refilled tonight.
