The purpose of this blog is to have an accounted record of my bicycle travels in the year of 2012 (and potentially beyond). I intend to ride for 5001 miles this year. I had intended to ride only 5000, but that blogspot subdomain name was already taken; I will just have to push myself a little bit harder. :p

My Custom-built Carbon Road Bike

The records I will be keeping for each ride will include a trip map with as many statistics as I can muster, including weather, mood and diet. I may rearrange the posts a bit from time to time as I find a visual format that works nicely for the information provided.

Though fitness goals may be the primary reason I started bike riding, I refuse to simply put the miles in and blow past life while doing so. Lots of pictures will be taken and maybe a few videos in order to share the trips with anyone desiring such. I have a plethora of video and photo cameras, including sunglasses with a built-in video/photo camera and a Toshiba Thrive Android tablet. I will try to take some of these along on every trip and be sure to stop for the sights.

My Modified Mongoose Paver Hybrid

Now, I'd better get some rest, as this weekend's riding may be a bit daunting. It's only supposed to get up to 25 degrees Fahrenheit and there is currently about 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground.

By the way, I intend to start running a C25K program soon, and will likely keep a record of that here also. In fact, once done with that, I'll probably do a 5K210K program and beyond. There's no reason my running miles shouldn't count toward my goal (since it's mine). :))
