“Did you kiss?” asked Hermione briskly.

Ron sat up so fast that he sent his ink bottle flying all over the rug. Disregarding this completely he stared avidly at Harry.

“Well?” he demanded.

Harry looked from Ron’s expression of mingled curiosity and hilarity to Hermione’s slight frown, and nodded.

“HA!”

Ron made a triumphant gesture with his fist and went into a raucous peal of laughter that made several timid-looking second years over beside the window jump. A reluctant grin spread over Harry’s face as he watched Ron rolling around on the hearthrug. Hermione gave Ron a look of deep disgust and returned to her letter.

“Well?” Ron said finally, looking up at Harry. “How was it?”

Harry considered for a moment.

“Wet,” he said truthfully.

Ron made a noise that might have indicated jubilation or disgust, it was hard to tell.

“Because she was crying,” Harry continued heavily.

“Oh,” said Ron, his smile fading slightly. “Are you that bad at kissing?”

“Dunno,” said Harry, who hadn’t considered this, and immediately felt rather worried. “Maybe I am.”

“Of course you’re not,” said Hermione absently, still scribbling away at her letter.

“How do you know?” said Ron in a sharp voice.

“Because Cho spends half her time crying these days,” said Hermione vaguely. “She does it at mealtimes, in the loos, all over the place.”

“You’d think a bit of kissing would cheer her up, said Ron, grinning.

“Are you trying to weasel out of showing us any of this stuff?” said Zacharias Smith.

“Here’s an idea,” said Ron loudly, before Harry could speak, “why don’t you shut your mouth?”

Perhaps the word “weasel” had affected Ron particularly strongly;

Harry arrived early in the Room of Requirement for the last D.A. meeting before the holidays and was very glad he had, because when the lamps burst into light he saw that Dobby had taken it upon himself to decorate the place for Christmas. He could tell that the elf had done it, because nobody else would have strung a hundred golden baubles from the ceiling, each showing a picture of Harry’s face and bearing the legend HAVE A VERY HARRY CHRISTMAS!

Cheeky!

How do you do today?

It’s a lovely day for saying it’s a lovely day!

It was just one of those fabulous flights.

We’re painting the town.

Too hot for this town.

Here’s hoping I’ll meet with you never again.

I’m for Paris, love!

Painting that town.

Making a gesture with the night.

I’m a nocturnal vampire with flight.

No! Don’t run from me.

I’m as loving as more than any.

Putting on the ritz.

Putting on a fit.

My heart won’t let my feet do things they shouldn’t.

I won’t dance.

Don’t ask me.

Boop boop da boop da dee dee da, boop.

“Music leads the way to romance.”

I won’t dance.

How could i?

Can I see the sun shine?

How could I?

The best is yet to come?

I hope it’ll be fine.

Divine!

I’m starting to hum.

We’ve only just tasted the wine!

This is fresh!

Just like what I want for you.

“The time may go, but our love is here to stay.”

The best is yet to come.

Yes! I hope it’s that kind.

Dancing, cheek to cheek!

Out together, making the night shine.

If I could just reach the highest mountain!

I can hardly speak,

To see the happiness I seek.

Dancing, cheek to cheek.

“You know what?” Ron murmured, looking over at the bar with enthusiasm. “We could order anything we liked here, I bet that bloke would sell us anything, he wouldn’t care. I’ve always wanted to try firewhisky-”

“You-are-a-prefect,” snarled Hermione.
