Santa Ana Soaps, a social enterprise and workforce development soapmaking project, is now available at Share and Do Good in Fullerton, Ca. It is a super cool shop full of products whose purchase help make the world a better place. Keep your eyes open as we are hoping to host an event sometime soon at the shop as well.

Exciting news for the future of Santa Ana Soaps, the social enterprise/workforce development initiative we have been “beta testing” for the last few months. In addition to the 511 Store our soaps can now be purchased in The Road Less Traveled in the Downtown Santa Ana Artist’s Village.

Please visit the store and thank them for carrying it and feel free to look around, buy some soap and check out all the other amazing things they offer. My whole family loves the store and I am sure you will too!

Santa Ana Soaps has a great story:

For the last several years a group of us have been working in Santa Ana, Ca to build community, creativity and opportunity. Through service, urban arts and several events we engage the community and try to find new and fun ways to empower others. One project, Laundry Love Santa Ana puts us in constant contact with soap and it dawned on us: why not make the stuff. So while we are still working on scaling up to support the amount Laundry Love would need, we offer our first few batches up to you. These soaps have been handmade by our volunteers and all proceeds go to our non profit initiatives in Santa Ana, Ca. The hope is that this soap making initiative will expand to the point where we can hire Santa Ana locals at living wages and train them in all aspects of the business. A full end to end work force development program supported by a social enterprise, all right here in Santa Ana.

Santa Ana Soaps makes soaps in Santa Ana, Ca. We continually strive to ensure our ingredients are sourced sustainably, ethically, locally and organic whenever possible. Our soaps utilize, naturally occurring ingredients and essential oils that clean well while being gentle on skin, clothes and the environment. Our packaging utilize’s recycled and reused materials whenever possible. All soaps are ammonia-, chlorine bleach-, paraben- and phosphate-free. Due to our unique formulation no dryer sheets or fabric softeners are needed when using our laundry detergents.

The Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity Organization (CPHD) and Orange County Islamic Foundation (OCIF) will be hosting their 5th Annual Humanitarian Day event in Santa Ana on Sunday August 5th, at 11:00am at the Downtown Civic Center Parking lot #4 (Hall of Records).

They will be handing-out needed supplies to the homeless population of downtown Santa Ana, and will also have physicians performing basic health screening. This year’s supplies might include hygiene kits, clothing items, towels, blankets, backpacks, toys, hot meals, and other items as donations arrive.

The Humanitarian Day event will be hosted in 9 different cities this month.
