Not sure who designated today Comeback Friday but between new videos from Madonna, M.I.A., Santigold (the other week), and now Sam Sparro, it’s starting to feel a lot like 2008 all over again and I LOVE it. Pitchfork announced today that Miike Snow’s upcoming LP Happy To You will include a duet with Lykke Li called ‘Black Tin Box’. We got a stream of it below and all we can say is that Happy To You is shaping up to be a perfect album.

Coming straight out of Lithuania (where?), this is the first I’ve ever heard from trio Proper Heat. In their own words, ‘Just A Little Bit’ is a “passionate low-slung disco house” track and its definitely worth a download for some easy low-key listening. The track comes as a prelude to the group’s forthcoming album, expected to be released this Spring on Nang Records.

In honour of Aaliyah’s 33rd birthday I thought I’d post an amazing remix of her 1998 Grammy-nominated hit ‘Are You That Somebody?’ flawlessly put together last year by Montreal production duo Azamat B and Sinjin Hawke of ITFW. The duo remixed four of her other hits which they’re offering for free here.

New York house legend Morgan Geist is making his return to disco house under the new moniker Storm Queen and has an EP for ‘Look Right Through’ set to release February 1 on Defected Records. The label has released a preview of the EP which features remixes by Aeroplane, Dimitri from Paris, and Jamie Jones. I’ve included my favourite below but the rest can be previewed on the label’s SoundCloud here.

Last year Gomma producers Moullinex, Telonius, Munk, and The Phenomenal Handclap Band were asked to rework four old hits from the Casablanca Records catalogue. Backed with vocals by the incomparable Peaches, the label recreated classics by Donna Summer & Giogrio Moroder, Skatt Brothers, Stephanie Mill, and of course, Michael Sembello.

I didn’t intend for today to be a ‘Born to Die’ remix day, but I couldn’t not share Gucci Vump’s interpretation. Gesaffelstein promoted it today on Facebook and it caught my eye (ears?)

I posted a snippet of this remix a few days back and I was pleased to find the full version today. Lil Silva produced a hauntingly beautiful remix of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’.
