The Vortex Mat collects gold in each of its small cavities like a gold attracting magnet. I also like how easy the Vortex Mat is to clean. The Vortex Mat cleans up in just minutes. The combination of the three intelligent gold separations together allows a gold prospector to process large amounts of material down to just a cup of super concentrate in just a few minutes.

Vortex Matting: The Gold Cube’s vortex matting works because water flow interacts with a combination of very small pillar walls and cavities—about 7,056 of them per mat. Just like a tornado, the spinning creates a low pressure zone in the center of each of the cavities. The Gold Cube Concentrator has a brilliant design and an impressive 98% gold recovery. I think the Gold Cube Concentrators G-Force separator is genius because is takes the surface tension off the water and forces the gold to collect at the top of the vortex matting. This is a critical step and one that I love because I work in gold bearing areas that are famous for having ultra fine gold. The Gold Cube G-Fore Separator Process:

(1) 8 mesh or smaller gold bearing material is added to the water flow (2) on the Gold Cube slick plate (3). The slurry (4) drops into the Gold Cube G-Force Separator (5). The slurry accelerates around the bottom of the trough and the centrifugal force helps move gold outward (6). As all the material leaves the Gold Cube G-Force Separator, high volume water carries the lighter material up and away (7). The gold is then dropped into the beginning of the Gold Cube vortex mat (8). This process is repeated in each of the Gold Cube’s separation trays.

Let’s take a closer look at how the Gold Cube Concentrator works! This awesome invention was designed and is manufactured by two very intelligent gold prospectors Mike Pung and Steve Wilcox. They own www.goldcube.net and sell this direct to the public.

The Gold Cube Concentrator slick plate is the first tray in the Gold Cube stack. This is also the first gold recovery step in the Gold Cube Concentrator. The idea of the slick plate has been around for awhile in different forms and the guys at Gold Cube made it better! They made the slick plate better by having a nice evenly controlled amount of water continually running over the entire surface of the Gold Cube slick plate. I like the slick plate feature because you do not have to control the water or anything else and you can spread large amounts of classified gold concentrate material over the entire surface at the top all at once. About a 1000 Lbs. of material can be run through the Gold Cube per hour. You can tell the slick plate is working by looking at the surface of the Gold Cube slick plate and seeing all of your gold slowly moving towards the G-Force separator.

Slick Plate: The slick plate on the Gold Cube Concentrator has a precisely controlled water flow that is designed to process very large amounts of 8 mesh and smaller material in a very short time. With controlled water flow, the Gold Cube slick plate does 2 things:
1. It turns aggregate material into a slurry, and
2. The water flow forces the lighter particles ahead of the heavier material.

Gold Cube Concentrator Review, Gold Banker Review & Field Test

Many of you know that I am a gold panning prospecting guide and go out often. I also have used a lot of gold prospecting equipment for better or worse. In this post I will tell you about my first Gold Cube Concentrator review, field test and experience.

I got a call from my gold prospecting buddy to come down to the river and see his new amazing gold toy he was so proud of. He did not tell me what it was and after hanging up the phone I was riddled with all kinds of thoughts about what he had. Does it really work? I personally do not like the snake oil tricks manufactures play and marketing games touting their gold prospecting equipment as the best gold getting thing on the planet. I am a very skeptical gold prospector and tend to just stick with what is proven that works.

Once I was down at the river and saw what he had I started shaking my head as I was walking up to the Gold Cube Concentrator and looking at him with a look of pain. I had never seen one before and have only just head of it. He brought it down to the river in a plastic tub. I asked him how much it weighed and how it was to set up. He said it was very light and only took him several minutes to set it up.

He proceeded to show me all of the Gold Cube Concentrator ins and outs. He showed me how it was set up and talked to me about what it does and how it works and I was still skeptical.

The area we work is notorious for having ultra fine gold. He said the Gold Cube Concentrator will get it! I also know that 90% of all the gold I will get is fine gold and if what he is saying is true then the Gold Cube Concentrator will be an awesome benefit to me.

For the next several hours we ran as much material as we could get through the Gold Cube Concentrator. We used it two different ways. We first classified all of the material to 1/8” with one of my bucket classifiers and then ran all of the classified material through the top slick plate with a big plastic scoop spoon. The second method was to use it as a highbanker and shovel as much material in it as we could. He had bought the Gold Banker attachment that comes with a spray bar and nugget trap. The Gold Banker set up was fast and easy. It worked great! All of the rock and gravel was washed and discarded with no trouble.

After highbanking with the Gold Cube Concentrator we lifted the Gold Banker off and cleaned the separator trays out right there in the river. It is very easy to clean and took just a few minutes.

We could not believe how much fine gold we got out of that river material. All the ultra fine gold was just sitting at the top of the first separator tray. It was beautiful! I really feel like I was getting the most out of all the material I ran through the Gold Cube Concentrator. A big plus in my mind is that the Gold Cube Concentrator takes the surface tension of the water and makes the gold go straight to the bottom of the G-Force Separator. The two guys who invented this Mike Pung and Red Wilcox did all of us gold panning prospectors a huge favor inventing this awesome technology.

We had been so excited with gold fever and about seeing all of that gold in the first separator tray that we wanted to work for another hour. We only had a few cups of material at the end of the day and saved all of it to clean up at home.

At the end of the day it was very easy and light to pack up and put in the truck. We had it all cleaned and we were on the road heading home in just a few minutes.

Over the next month I used Gold Cube Concentrator several more times in the river and at the house. I cleaned 5 buckets of gold concentrates from my suction dredge in less than 20 minutes. That is crazy fast compared to the spiral wheel I was using and much more efficient than the mini sluice I use. I loved how fast it processed all of my concentrates down to just a few cups at the house. Now, I use the Gold Cube Concentrator first and then the spiral wheel. Doing this has saved me hours of gold clean up. I bought one soon after that and now take it with me every gold prospecting trip out. The gold cube concentrator gets an A++ in my book. This is without a doubt my new favorite piece of gold equipment! I love it and so do my prospecting buddies. We all run a lot of material through our equipment and need a good FAST finishing product to handle all of our concentrates. We have also used this as a hibanker in the river and it worked great with the screen attachment. The best part about it, and the thing I think everyone will love, is the Gold Cube is very easy to use and operate in the river or at home! BAD DAY ON THE ICE!

January 1st started off like any typical winter Saturday morning, but the day’s events had much more in store for me than I had ever cared to experience. That morning, my alarm clock sounded at 3:30 AM so I could make my way to Lake Loveland where I knew the slab crappie were biting. After loading up the truck and grabbing a quick sandwich, I hopped into the driver’s seat and was on my way. My truck tires rolled onto the ramp at 4:30 AM. It was cold and still very dark outside. Taking a look around, I was surprised I didn’t see any others on the ramp or the ice as the bite had been fantastic the week prior.

Motor memory started working me through my regular routine as I took out my ice auger and drilled a test hole at the ramp to check the thickness of the ice. It was a good 6” solid. With my safety test done, I started the ¼ mile trek to my GPS spot on top of a few concrete outlets. As I was walking, I made use of my headlamp to scan for any cracks so I could be sure to follow the thick ice. As I got closer to my spot my attention turned from cracks in the ice to old drilled out holes. As I was searching, I was slapped with an unfamiliar sense of terror and surprise as I plunged through the ice and into the icy waters. The chill of the water instantly stole my breath and panic instantly followed as my hands did nothing but slide over the ice. I tried frantically to get my sleeves to stick to the ice and was quickly getting drained from all the kicking, panicking and yelling I was doing. After several minutes, thoughts of not seeing my family again consumed me with worry. I had no idea how I would manage to get myself out of this water. Several times I had searched the pockets of my ice fishing suit looking for anything that I could use to pry myself out of the icy water. I had no ice spikes, little energy, and had never been so cold in my life. I was certain that if someone did not hear my pleas for help I was a goner. My only companion was a sense of anguish as I realized my fishing buddies were not set to arrive for another 45 minutes. There was no way I would be able to withstand the water for that long.

I was able to see cars driving on the road in front of me, but I knew the drivers could not hear my screams. I was in total despair. I needed God, an angel, a miracle to save me. Then suddenly, I remembered the Leatherman knife that was in my jeans pocket. I worked to unzip my jacket and pull down my chest bibs so I could reach the knife. I needed to be very careful not to drop the only chance I had at escaping.

Finally, I managed to pull it out of my pants pocket. I opened it up with my numb and stiff fingers and then took it in my fist and started slamming it into the ice as hard as I possibly could. I knew I had to get it deep into the ice so I could pull on the knife like a handle and wiggle myself out of the water. This exercise turned out to be quite an undertaking because of how exhausted I was and how badly I was shaking; not to mention I could barely make use of my nearly frozen hands. After several attempts of hammering my knife into the ice as hard as I could, I finally made it stick just enough to do the job. I have never felt as relieved as I hoisted myself onto the safety of the surrounding ice. I was overwhelmed with relief and exhaustion as I laid there looking up at the sky, thanking God I was out.

After the fact, I found out the lake was pumping in water from another location which was melting the bottom layer of the ice sheet. I realize I am a very lucky man and every now and then I reflect on the events of that day. Ice fishing used to be my passion, but I have not been again since that day.

This is about how to find gold and where to find gold on a clay layer. The best and fastest way to get gold from clay layer is to look for the cracks and pockets. Once you find them dig them up to the bottom and then use a suction dredge to get the rest out. You may have to use pry-bars and other tools to help you in this effort but it is worth the work. I was tossing around in bed early Saturday morning wondering what was in store for the day as I had many choices. I finally settled on gold panning and decided to pack up and head to the creek for the day. You never forget the first time you find gold in your pan; you are never the same after that. You can say that I have gold fever, and some days I have it more than others. You know what I’m talking about if you have been panning before. After grabbing my traditional Saturday morning breakfast burrito I was on my way to a creek that was just minutes away from my house. During one of my recent trips to this particular creek I had found a thin layer of float gold that looked promising.

After unloading, gearing up, and working the area for a good two hours I decided it was time for a breather. I sat down to have a look around and saw a woman sitting, hunched over a bucket, panning. She was a ways down the stream from me and I could not see her face, but I could tell by her white hair and frail little body that she was older. After a few more hours of working she was still there panning in the creek. At this point my curiosity got the best of me and I headed down stream to have a chat with this woman to figure her out.

As I’m walking up to her she looks like a very happy grandma. You know the kind, cookies, smiles and lots of tender-loving-care. I introduced myself and asked if she was having any luck. She looked at me with a wonderful smile like she was sitting in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and said, “yes I’m doing ok today.” I wanted to know more about what inspired her to slap on a pair of boots and get her hands dirty in the creek digging for gold.

I stood there watching her while going through all the normal pleasantry’s and could not believe what my eyes were seeing. This woman was a fantastic panner, fast and very productive at that. She was using simple, small tools and the classifier she was using was larger than her pan. But, in the time she was out she had amassed this small whit bucket of black sand.

There was a lot to admire about this woman. If I remember correctly, she is an 86 year-old retired teacher, mother and grandmother. For the life of me I cannot remember her name so I will call her Betty. This woman in front of me was remarkable to be in the creek shoveling and moving material at her age. She said she has been a hard worker her whole life. She makes it to the creek when she can, sometimes several times a week. Over the years she has gathered over 7 ounces of gold that she plans on giving this to her grandchildren.

After our conversation and observing her I offered to help her to her car, she declined. The next day I couldn’t get her off my mind. She is one tough woman. She did not complain one bit while I was with her and god would only know how she feels at the end of the day. If she is doing this at her age what else is she doing in her life? Betty is living and not giving up because she is old, frail or tired. She is young at heart living out her dreams and ambitions. I have been gold panning for many years now and know how hard it is and how sore I am the next several days. My daughters have been out with me as well and agree that it is very hard work. If you have been in the gold game you know what I’m talking about.

HOW AND WHERE TO FIND GOLD

This is an example of how to find gold prospecting, where to find gold in a gravel bar, island, sand bar, point, river, stream or creek. I first start out doing research to find an area that has gold in it. Once I find an area I get a Google map of it and mark up the spots I want to sample. I try to eliminate allot of the river based on what I know about how gold moves. Once I have a game plan I go down to the river and start my sampling system. I will spend all day doing this. I will also mark off all the areas that I sampled that do not have enough gold to make it worth my while. Once I have found a pay streak I will sample more to find the sides, front and back of it. After finding a pay streak worth working I determine what equipment to use based off of the conditions and start working the streak. Watch my video below and let me know what you think about it.
