Yes, it is the same animal; however, the difference is its age. Lamb is usually less than a year old (same vein as suckling pig?), whereas mutton is usually older (2+ years). Oddly the definition of lamb and mutton might be different from country to country. But, the general idea is that. C'mon, they should go to grocery shopping more often, as yellow-ish plums (not necessarily Mirabelle, there is one called "grenade" plum) are available in markets/supermarkets! Just like yellow-flesh watermelon, purple carrots, pissing shrimp, four legged chicken, red-flesh oranges and spaghetti from &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasta_tree" rel="nofollow"&gt;pasta trees&lt;/a&gt;!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Just as Francis, I would normally eat the plums "as is". As for recipes, aside from a sauce, which sort of takes away the plum as showcase, the only other thing I can think of would be a tart (specially an "open" version).
