It is a major roadblock into which so many marketers run.  They have the best intentions — and even the best MLM marketing system planned out — but they are bringing in little or no income at the beginning.  That is a problem both practically and emotionally.  It is hard to stay motivated when you are seeing no “results” in your bank account.

It is for this reason that I tell people who are just starting or are in the process of building their business, to implement funded proposals into their MLM marketing system.  They are a way to put some money into your pockets while you’re building your business — and even if people don’t decide to join your business.

Before I go into this, I want to put one idea into your head that I hope you’ll keep with you as you build your business.  You always hear about how you need to build a list (which you absolutely DO), but you want your mindset to be not that you are building a list but rather that you are building a COMMUNITY.

Remember that your list (or your community as you should now think of it) is the most valuable asset in your business — and it is important that you treat it as such. Your MLM marketing system should be built around this idea.

You can communicate with your community in any number of ways — via Twitter, Facebook, Email etc.  As you do so, you want to abide by the “golden rule” of marketing, which is to treat others how you would want to be treated.

With that said, and going back to what I was saying at the beginning of the article, when you are just starting your business or are in the process of building your community, you need to make sure that you are getting paid.  You want to be sure that you have money coming in throughout the whole process of building your business.

This is where funded proposals come into play.  They are a great tool for anyone getting started in an MLM business, and should be part of the MLM system of anyone in that boat.

So what is a funded proposal and how does it work?  More importantly, how does it make you money right now?  Here’s how it works.

When you take leads to a squeeze page and they input their information, where do they usually get sent?  When you are using a funded proposal, you would send them to a salespage advertising a low end product of yours (which might retail for $30-$50).

What does this do for you?  It allows you to get paid while you’re generating leads.  This is a very powerful concept and a very important piece to have in your MLM marketing system while you are building your business.  Think about the power of this — you are taking one of the biggest variables for your business and turning it into an asset.

If there is one downside in setting up a duplication system in multi-level marketing system it is perhaps the fact that personal skills are not duplicated. Most aspiring network marketers enter the business without a firm grasp of what it takes to succeed. They almost always underestimate the number of people they will need to approach about their opportunity. To put it in real terms, talking to 5 to 10 prospects weekly is not going to give you the ability to earn a 6 or 7 figure income from home.

In martial arts, an effective way to defeat any opponent is to keep the pressure on and throw ‘punches in bunches’ as opposed to a jab here and there. To build a huge list of prospects, the key to success is in marketing your opportunity to a massive amount of people. If fear is holding you back from taking action, adopt the mindset of ’some will, some won’t, so what, someone is always waiting’. A huge list of prospects won’t do you a bit of good if you don’t approach every name on that list with the correct ‘posture’.

A huge mistake that you can make in MLM is to act as a salesperson for the product or service. There are plenty of resources that your company will provide such as CD’s and DVD’s that will promote your company and opportunity. These tools were made by some very knowledgeable marketers, and you should use them. Your number one concern should be in selling ‘yourself’ as opposed to selling your company.

Stay away from making attempts to convince your prospect that he or she should join your business. Trying to convince your prospect to join your business puts you at a severe disadvantage and portrays an image of weakness and need. After all, it your business opportunity is so great why do you need to practically beg people to join?

Instead of trying to convince, approach every prospect as if you are interviewing them. Remember that this is your business, and bringing in a ‘dud’ will only waste your time and decrease your chances of success.

Always keep control of every conversation by putting them in the spotlight. Remember that you are interviewing them for a top spot in your business. And make it a point to only answer their question with a question of your own.

As a newbie in the business there is one question you will dread until you reach a decent earnings level.

“How much money are you making?”

You might not be a Black Belt Recruiter yet, but you can still use a response that all masters in MLM have had to use at one point. Turn the ’spotlight’ back at your prospect and point out that what you make doesn’t matter. It’s what your prospect is going to make that counts!

It’s a statistically proven fact that people that are considered ‘attractive’ tend to be more successful. This applies more to women than men, but it’s a general truth. So if you’re a good looking sales lady, you have a ‘leg up’ on the competition.

But if you don’t think you fit into the category of attractive, don’t worry. There’s a lot you can do to even the score.

The first thing you can do to make a killer impression is to ‘out dress’ your prospect. Don’t overdo it and meet up with your prospect in anything made by Giorgio Armani! Just have a good idea of what he or she will be wearing and adjust your attire to be slightly more impressive. This will help to build a perception of you as a leader. It’s also important to try and match the style of dress of your prospect as closely as you can. The more similarities that you and your prospect share, the better. Don’t you feel more comfortable with a person when you think or feel they are like you?

It’s also extremely important to take the time to give yourself a real grooming session. Make sure your nails and hair are trim, clothes pressed, and shoes clean and shiny. I had a friend go to a jewelry store to buy an item and passed because he noticed a hole in the salespersons sock! Don’t let this happen to you.

This might sound obvious, but take the time to evaluate whether or not your potential client might or might not need your product or service. I constantly see people in direct sales and marketing treating their business like a pure numbers game without determining what their target market is. I don’t know about you, but for me, time is of the essence.

You would be surprised at just how good an impression you make if you just give a smile and a firm handshake. Take the time to notice how you feel when someone gives you a genuinely warm smile. Even if your somewhat nervous, giving a nice smile will reduce the tension you feel. And giving a somewhat firm handshake (but don’t overdo it) will increase your aura of leadership.

And one of the most important things you can achieve within the first seven seconds is getting your prospect to say YES! It really doesn’t matter how you get them to do it, just make sure they say YES. Getting your potential client to say yes will put him or her in a positive state of mind and make a successful sale much more likely. In fact, make sure you ONLY ask questions that can be answered with an affirmative yes throughout your presentation.

If you know anything about effective public speaking, you know that the first few words out of the mouth of the speaker set the whole tone of the speech. If the speaker is good, the words were carefully crafted to make a motivating impression on the audience. The opener is crafted to make an impression that will persuade the audience to the speakers’ point of view. Take the time to carefully craft the impression you will make on your prospect, and you will make the sale in seven seconds.

Many people operate under the mistaken impression that if they don’t “close” a prospect immediately, that they never will. This might have some truth if you are marketing your company or your company’s opportunity. If you are using an MLM attraction marketing system, however, you will bring more prospects into your business and you will make more money on average per prospect.

The concept behind MLM attraction marketing is simple. You are trying have people seeking YOU out, instead of you having to chase people. It is meant to eliminate the “convincing” component to most MLM marketing plans. You know what I’m about — approaching pe/ople and having to twist their arm to get them to agree to join your business.

That kind of tactic may have some success, but it will also result in poor retention rates and lower average revenue. When you attract people into your business, though, you are going to get MUCH higher retention rates and much better average revenue per person.

In an MLM attraction marketing system, you gear your entire system around offering people a solution to a problem or satisfying a need that they have. Instead of telling people how much money they can make selling a super-vitamin, you may advertise that you have the solution to feeling run down and sluggish. There are a lot of people out there who have that issue. When they find you because you — as an expert — have information about that issue, then they will want to submit their information and learn more about it from you.

So then when those people get on your list, you will give them information and a solution to what they were already looking for. This is the type of prospect that will not only be more likely to join your business (at least to consume your product themselves), but also who will fall in love with your product and continue to consume it over a long period of time. This is where you will generate an ongoing revenue stream. This is where you MLM attraction marketing will really pay off for you.

You want to keep your relationship — the trust you’ve built with all of these folks — going. So even after you’ve brought these great leads into your business, you want to use your autoresponder and continue to provide them great content. You can also market other and additional things to these folks as time goes on. Those who already trust you and love your product are great prospects to buy more from you in the future.

Are you ready for this? I am about to tell you the Truth which not many people like to do these days.

A home based business is a REAL Job just like any other. You MUST put alot of your time and effort into anything you want to succeed with. This is the Truth. Do not let anyone sugar coate it for you because unless you are willing to work, this industry will not do anything for you.

With that being said, let’s assume you are similar to me and you are willing to work but just do not know how to go about it and have no advertising budget to begin with.

2. Forums/Message Boards

3. Traffic Exchanges

Use these 3 Methods to get you going. Alot of people do not like talking to friends and family but once again here is the truth.. If you believe in what you have and believe it will only help people then there is nothing to have fear about when sharing it.

Another thing I did was I joined a bunch of Free Survey companies. I knew I needed an advertising budget so I did thes “Paid to Survey” companies to pay for my $10/Month Business Opportunity and give me some advertising money to get me going. You can make some pretty good pocket change with the Survey’s.

If you are going to talk to people on the phone and are going to Purchase leads only get the pre-screened or interviewed leads. Here is why… You know that their phone number is good so you are not going to waste your time and money on people that you can never reach and this person has talked to several people before you explaining how serious they are about getting information on a home based business.

The Cheap leads are people who have been contacted a million times and will report you for spam or harrassment if you try to contact them. It is one headache you just do not want. Only spend your time with those that want the information.

Keep your Advertising Costs as low as possible but always have more people to talk to then you can actually contact. This is the best form of advice I can give on the topic of marketing.

Keep Consistent. Have several different marketing methods going on at the same time this way if one is not producing as much another one will- Your business will never stop growing with using this tip.
