Slowdownjoe is the latest venture from Superdenim founder Lewis Hull and his brother Matthew. Essentially an extension of Superdenim, the site is an online emporium of cool stuff for the body, soul, home and outdoors ranging from Viberg boots to Lovat Mill travel rugs and backpacks from William Fox & Sons. Products are sourced from Europe, USA and Japan with an emphasis on ethics, craftsmanship and honest design. Given Lewis' reputation for drawing our attention to new and exciting menswear brands that we might have previously overlooked, this should be an interesting project and definitely one to keep an eye on as we move into 2012.

Realm & Empire are a new name in menswear showing their first collection for spring/summer 2012. Taking inspiration from Churchill (our war time prime minister, not the nodding dog in the insurance adverts) the collection is driven by director Stephen Gill’s fascination with The Churchill War Rooms in London and produced in partnership with the Imperial War Museum. Garments are simple and classic with slim tees, sweats and hoodies bearing iconic slogans and imagery of the era.

Masquerading as art amongst a pile of mucky magazines in a backstreet garage, the Pirelli calendar has somehow managed to attract many of the worlds top models and photographers over the years and emerge as a highly respected (and collected) opus of the female form. 2012 sees Mario Sorrenti behind the lens, whilst Lara Stone, Milla Jovovich, and Kate Moss are just three of the beauties baring all in front of the camera. This video takes us behind the scenes in Corsica where the calendar was photographed.

Along with the Sony Walkman and the AK47 rifle, The Face has been added to the Design Museum's permanent collection. To celebrate, The Guardian spoke to founder and influential music journalist Nick Logan. Commenting on the launch issue, he says...

I had been advised that 'the Face' was too abstract, and I should have the word monthly in the title, and I knew I could find something more current for a first cover than the Specials. But they embodied everything the magazine aspired to – they had a look, a passion, and great music - so there was never an alternative. In a sentimental way too, I owed 2 Tone a debt for the inspiration to pursue the idea. And, as it was my savings at risk, I could call it what I liked - after all, the Face was to be my escape from a career where too often I struggled to explain myself to publishers or committees. No focus groups here: I was purely, wholeheartedly, following instinct.

Hand made in the USA, the herringbone style uses a garment dyed 11oz fabric, whilst the camo is vintage 1950's German military deadstock that was first used in the Safari Shorts earlier this year. The cut is slim with a straight leg and medium rise, with details that include angled front patch pockets, square cut back pockets, and the now trademark hidden pen pocket.
At a time when the world seems to be going paperless to the point of digital overload, it's refreshing to see a company bucking the trend, and if this isn't the cutest printer you've ever seen, I'll eat my iPhone… in one mouthful! Berg's Little Printer is a wireless device that is programmed via your smartphone and connects to the internet scouring RSS feeds and global resources to bring you your own personalised mini newspaper. Pricing hasn't yet been announced, and it's not scheduled for release until 2012, however Berg have promised they'll start taking pre orders shortly.

French retailer Tenue De Nîmes have just released the eighth edition of their periodical journal. Focusing on 'Made In Europe', the undoubted highlight for us is an interview with Tim Little, the Creative Director at Grenson who also has his own 'Shoes & Blues' collection of premium mens footwear. There are also features on the new Doulble RL store in London, a profile of Merz B Schwanen (who have recently worked with Nigel Cabourn), and French Breton clothing from Armor Lux. Well worth a read, and there's some really nicely styled photography too!

For an easy alternative to the traditional English cooked breakfast, why not try these baked eggs courtesy of 'Savoring Time In The Kitchen'. Simply slice a croissant into 1/4" thick slices, and use to line a muffin tin. Carefully break an egg into each 'nest', season with a little salt and pepper, and bake in a warm oven at 200°C for 15-20 minutes until the egg is cooked to your liking. Simple, tasty, and perfect for a Sunday morning.

Amy Winehouse: Me And Mr Jones
