INTERVIEW WITH MADDI MCFARLAND

Maddi: 'I really struggle with harnessing my emotions. I guess my conclusion was that if I addressed my feelings on my blog, maybe even I would start to understand them.''

If I had to search for the definition of Maddi McFarland on the Internet it would be REALNESS in all its purest form. The time stops when you read her blog, and you keep posing and posing and posing and reflecting and nodding. This centred soul blogger pours her emotions raw as it comes, her honesty is her testimonial and this is an amazing weapon to change the world. One can connect with anyone who is honest. Who would disagree? She is a palette of watercolour splashed on a brand new canvas and she draws her art according to her own pulse.

My favourite part of blogging is not the looks, style, up to date makeup. It’s all about the person behind the screen. Navigating from words to words, sometimes you pause because it struck you and you wonder, you don't feel alone and you are happy. All these alternate mixed emotions are the reason I read blogs and not to say the least Maddi's platform delivers a true reflection of her soul.

What are the things you are grateful for?

I am most grateful for the people who have helped me continue to do the things I feel compelled to do. I’m grateful to Mother Nature and her mysterious beauty. I’m grateful for artists who make me feel less alone.

Maddi or how would you like me/us to call you? Madison? wink eye. Words are truly a way of evasion, a gift given to us to express some hidden masterpiece unlock in our pained heart. It's the key to liberation, it's the cries of sleepless nights. Words are more than words, it's the rhythm the soul pours out to create a story true to us but true to others in their own way. Just like the Feminine Mystique that has ignited the spark within desperate women to voice out their feelings whether it was about injustice, desperation and so forth. My blog, your blog, anyone's work of self-expression has a stone in history and can inspire others.

As an artist, a writer, a friend, a daughter, what words would you like to convey to us right now?

I believe that marginalized people carry an immense amount of pain. Sometimes this burden affects us physically, emotionally, or mentally. All logistics aside, us humans do not distinguish the difference. Pain is the pain, ultimately we have no way to gauge exactly what or how others are experiencing their walk on earth.

As a citizen of this world, what are the issues that worry you the most?

We focus on that which we are scared of instead of what we love. We are all afraid. How we act on that fear is the focus of all world issues, good and bad.

Ostracism

Maddi: '' When I was little I was ostracized by the other girls because I didn't believe in the same things or play the same way they did.''

We've all been kids, we've all known kids, they are cute yet sometimes they impersonate a concept that is by no means acceptable. They reflect what society does best, rejection.

In society, If you think, act, look or speak differently you become an outcast. Being shunned for having a trait of character that celebrates our uniqueness is quite a dehumanizing experience which can either break us or make us grow. Given the silent treatment engenders self-incrimination which is a ghastly form of hurt, sealed with an exclusion label.

Whenever our hearts are longing, scream or endure pain there is confinement of the soul.

What lessons did you cultivate from this whole experience?

Recently, I have been studying the art of solitude. I am a very social creature which conflicts with my ability to create. Sometimes, it is necessary to draw into oneself to focus and perform authentically. In retrospect, I believed being raised in solitude taught me many lessons up front that I have utilized to develop independent philosophies.

Social media

We have a generation growing up with lower self-esteem that doesn't have the coping mechanism to do with stress. With instant gratification, we've become impatient, with the Facebook and Instagram world we've become good at putting filters on things. We're good at showing people how amazing our life is even though we are depressed.

Maddi: ''When I shy away from the Internet it is for the purpose of healing, but I never expected my life to become so washed out.''

In what ways your life became washed out?

Social media is a highlight real. We do not experience the full presence and energy of the soul. For the purpose of mass communication, social media can be to the greatest of advantages in the modern age.

Maddi:'' Sometimes I'll post a picture and girls will comment nice things about my hair, or makeup, etc. They will call me goals, or even say they wish they were me. Here's the thing, I know this is a compliment, but part of me dies every time someone says this. Today it brought me to tears.''

What piece of wrinkle would you give to this generation, highly dependent on social media?

Go lightly. Nothing is permanent. Social media will evolve and so shall we. Use all your tools to your advantage, and do not fear the internet.

Imagine you stumble across a beautifully showcased dress in a shop, the display, the light, the atmosphere all these little subtle details instill in your mind an urge to possess it. Now that it's yours, your first impression changes, it doesn't fit, you don't feel at ease. Your feelings buried under a layer of silk. It was not what you needed but only what you wanted.

This is how life is, sometimes the evil comes in disguise.

What is your hierarchy of needs?

Self-care is my base for needs, you can’t take care of anyone else if you can’t take care of yourself. My family and loved ones are my next priority. I want to be a catalyst for health and change for the people around me, this is my passion. Without this ability to help others I am nothing.

Friends

Maddi:''...but the issue with people who rely on your energy is that they attach themselves to you like tubes in your chest.''

On your blog, you’ve said that you make friends easily but you are constantly driven to reinvent yourself with every relationship. We've all had this friend or these friends who is/are toxic. We feel drained, depleted when we are in their presence.

What's your bird's eye view of ways to deal with bucket dippers?

You have to literally stop, envision these ties and in your mind's eye cut them. Do this as many times as you need. Buddha practised the ancient art of Reiki for free until he realized that the same people were coming back each time to be healed. Some people choose not to help themselves and it is not your job to take care of those who do not take responsibility for their own well being.

Maddi: ''Along with deleting hundreds of irrelevant relationships from social media. I detoxed my music and television. Even the clothing I wear now is less ignorant.''

What was the motivation factor that inspired you to these changes and how would you describe your new philosophy to life?

I cannot take full credit for this idea. I had reached out to a spiritual healer for guidance after some serious health complications. For me, my internal self-causes ailments in my physical form. This is true for many people. She had suggested that I cleanse all unauthentic influences from my life. Anything that I felt brought me to a place of self-doubt I banished.

Health

The voyage that leads to our destiny is full of barriers to entry that waits to be faced with and as a consequence transcend. Our capacity to voluntarily accept the restricted and painful conditions of our life's journey determines the magnitude of power we associate to it. To bear the burden of being without becoming corrupt, it is Important that we find ways to reinforce our strength as individuals.

Maddi, you've always been transparent concerning your health issues.
Your struggle with Crohn disease for almost a decade is exemplary. While reading your blog, I felt your deep energy and realized how your health played a drastic role in the person you've become.

What is the most difficult part when dealing with health problems?

In the past, I feared people would find out that there was something, anything wrong with me. I had wrapped myself up in a world of perfectionism that I lost my own identity. I was also dealing with several controlling egos that wanted to take health choices into their own hands. I had to learn to decipher and communicate with others as efficiently as possible so that I might receive the treatment I wanted and deserved. It is imperative to be upfront and honest with your care providers. Do your research so you know the language of modern medicine. If you wish to practice holistically, remember that sometimes this alone is not enough and forgive your body!

As humans, we are a sponge of emotions.

What advice would you share with someone dealing with health issues, how to move forward?

We all feel bad for ourselves sometimes. Do not get trapped in the what if’s. You were given these circumstances for the benefit of your own spiritual growth. Overcome and you will find your reward.

On your blog, you showcase a wide range of looks and your aesthetic reflects your uniqueness.

How would you define your style and what is your approach to fashion?

Colour harmony is sacred to me. If I let my hair fade it is usually a reflection of how I feel on the inside. The same can be said for the outfits that I curate. This is how I feel, so this is what I will wear.

You share a special relationship with your hair ;) blue, purple, pink, henceforth. It's your tool of expression.

What do you like the most about changing your hairstyle?

I feel like a giant mood ring sometimes. It is interesting for me to see how my hair colour and style affects others, as well.

Finally, during an Interview with The Telegraph, you've shared how your Grandma taught you how to sew and how both of you shared a love for "Project Runway". It seems that your grandmother has had an impact on your career.

What are the most important values you've learned from her?

My grandmother is my Indigo guide. I was given to her, and she to me. We help each other find our way on Earth. She is like the sun to me. I would not have survived without her. I have learned to live from this woman, a selfless Aquarius. She taught me how to create. She created a safe place for me to express my individuality. She taught me the value of my god given right, and to love my body regardless of flaws. She taught me to heal, guard, and love myself and others. She encouraged me to push myself, but always be understanding when I fail. I spoke to her today and she told me that she put red roses on my grandfather’s grave for father’s day. Her world never revolved around her, she is the ultimate earth angel. Most importantly, she keeps me grounded. She buys me tokens of the sea turtle to remind me to slow down.

Can you share with us more about you?

The most difficult thing is always to talk about yourself, and here it begins... ;) Well, my name is Grzegorz, to non-polish speakers it will be easier to say just Greg. I am 25 years old. My whole life is related to my hometown, Kraków. Despite its many disadvantages, I am proud to be Cracovian. In addition to fashion I am interested in all types of music, photography, movies- especially directed by Lynch and Jarmusch, good design and foodies. Grzegorz, you created your blog GMALE to share your passion and knowledge for fashion and you've found in pursuing what you love an avenue of self-expression.

It takes courage to act. To act towards our authentic self.If we don't express WHO WE ARE we will suffer in silence and stay in a restricted frame.What we give out to the world is a piece of us and it should resonate with realness.If we put out false symbols we will attract people to those symbols but we won't establish a trustful relationship with them.

What are the biggest challenges you've had with being authentic?

To be honest I do not completely agree with the above. My blog is a combination of who I am and who I want to be. A mix of reality and creation. Of course on my blog, my readers can find my opinions, advice and real experiences but also always a little bit of fantasy. In my opinion fashion photo shooting it is not about the clothes or photos. These things are only parts of the CONCEPT. Moreover, I believe in one rule - If you only try, you can be whatever(whoever?) you want. That’s why I create persons, session by session. I have always been an incurable dreamer. It’s the way to spice up my life ;)

What advice would you give to someone who lacks the self-confidence to assert his style?

Some people have such a period in life when they turn from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. It happens to them automatically. For others, it doesn’t. If you belong to the second group you need to work on your self-confidence and it's not just about style. How? It depends. My self-confidence comes from doing new things. I hate routine.

Why do you approach fashion more like an industry rather than an embodiment of art?

Fashion can be art. What we see on the catwalks in Paris, Milan or London is usually art not for everyday usage. Fashion shows for clothes are like museums for paintings. We can not buy most of the exhibits. What we see on the streets is a mirror image of high fashion, a high fashion which has been grounded by a machine called the fashion industry. That’s why casual fashion for me is mostly like an industry.

Curbed by the daily to-do list of life, we suppress our being from foraging to the simple pleasures of life.The subdued freedom somewhat craves for fresh air and goes in quest for a peaceful place.A spot to recharge our battery, regain momentum and reconnect with our being.

Where do you like to go to escape from the normal life routine so as to replenish your creative spirit?

The best way is of course travelling. Unfortunately not every week can I afford holidays. Fortunately, I learned how to deal with it. I learn new things, I meet new people, I watch a new film, I visit a new place I have never seen before. Newness - this is my way to get creative.

Psst ... social media, this inevitable topic.WHY? Because millennials are now addicted to dopamine.The photos we share on these platforms, don't always reflect WHO We really are.That screen where we press the like button reflects only the visible aspect of our being.It's inaudible to the cry and laughter of our heart and soul.It doesn't perceive a ounce of emotion other than the smile on our face or the expression of our eyes and so forth.Only expression but not our feelings.Those feelings are just buried deep down.

What kind of feelings do you want to showcase through your work? I am from a generation that still remembers times without Internet. In spite of my blogging activity and social media addiction, I have a certain distance to this world. Sometimes it happens that I overuse it and feel a moral hangover. I do not give up this tool totally. I control it (still /for now).l). Before I upload any picture, a recording or link, I think about it 3 times. I realize that social media is not only my playground but a place that is used by nearly 3 million users. What feelings do I want to show through my work? Professionalism, ingenuity, inspiration. You are the window shop of your blog. GMALE's core values mirror your own values.

What are they? It's probably the best question anyone ever asked me. From the very beginning, it was important for me to do what I do best. So I think that the first value would be diligence. Scrupulousness will be the second value. When I am planning a photo-shoot I am thinking about all stuff: clothes, places, props. First of all the places where we take pictures. It is not accidental walls and streets, but thoughtful surroundings that complement styling, not just any backgrounds. Third value will be freedom, freedom above all else.

There are generally two types of individuals. Some who define themselves according to their success and another group who are proud of their success but refuse to be defined by what they have accomplished.

What category do you fall into and what is your definition of success? Success is a very individual matter. What for me will be an achievement for you can be a disappointment? Success is consumed by yourself, success builds your self-confidence, rarely your success will be understood by someone apart from you. I define people by their values. I appreciate success, but I never look through the prism of it.

To concoct a nice outfit, we need tasty ingredients like a handful of good ideas.

When you stir an outfit together what is your main recipe? I sincerely believe that if we are at least a little interested in fashion, she will pay us back with interest. Outfit ideas come from knowledge and experience. Look carefully and you will find them.

What is the most important trait of character that you value in someone?

Currently? Probably it will be selflessness. More and more people that I meet have lost this quality. I appreciate it all the more.

J B Peterson once said, Like Geppetto who wished that Pinocchio becomes a genuine fully developed individual. We should also wish upon a star to become a genuine fully developed human being.This is the key to deal with suffering which is inevitable in life.We should stop being a marionette whose strings are being pulled by forces behind the scenes. If we are not properly oriented in life we might become resentful.This is why it is important that we learn how to strengthen ourselves.

What are the things you do to build on your inner strength to face life's struggles?

It seems to me that with each success I become more resistant to problems. Life is sometimes difficult and if we do not immunize to small things, we will never be able to cope with these really big ones. I am therefore created from experience.

How do you handle criticism?

The loudest criticism is always given by those who did not come out, those who were frustrated and unpopular with their achievements. I do not care about them.

However, I have never rejected the constructive criticism. Without it, I would just come to a standstill.

We have one life and each day which passes by is a testimony that we aren't eternal.

What is your lifelong quest? Be happy… in lifelong term :)

So, let's take a deep breath and immerse oneself in this little ride down Izzy's unfettered world.

I am what I am

Everyone knows that gender box where you have to tick male or female, right? Within these two lies a vast spectrum of other gender identities. On her blog, Quirky Queer, Izzy McLeod expatiates her thoughts on this theme.

Reading your blog was very interesting especially when I've immersed myself into the topic which is gender neutrality.For those who aren't aware, gender neutrality is about not adhering to the labels girls or boys should or shouldn't do and being label-less or freed from gender conformity is what gender non-binary people fight for.For uninitiated people, the subject of gender identity and what defines someone's gender can be quite daunting and Intricate.

Izzy: '' ..... yeah I still fit within “female box” to most people but I am trying to get out of it, I'm just having a little trouble.''

Izzy, as someone who does not identify its gender within the binary, how do you perceive yourself through your own eyes and what makes it difficult to get out of the ''female box''?

My perception of myself depends on the day, most of the time I just see myself as “me” and don’t really feel the need to attach a gender to myself. Sometimes I feel more masculine and want to be seen as that, which can be really frustrating because I find it hard to present as masculine without just being seen as a tomboy or dyke rather than “not actually a woman”. Other days I feel more feminine and completely at home in the way I present myself, but generally, it’s just “I’m Izzy” and that is that.

Getting out of the “female box” is difficult, mainly because I’m never perceived as anything but female by other people, and I don’t think this is going to change. I’m very happy in my skin most of the time, I have my own style, I enjoy wearing the clothes I do, having the hair I do, and wearing makeup, all of which are seen as “female”. And so my life experience is that of a woman because that’s how people treat me. I do identify strongly with being a woman because that’s the way I experience life, mainly because of perceptions of gender, I just don’t identify as a woman, and for the most part, I’m fine with this little box. That being said I do want to one day be able to go out presenting masculine and actually have people perceive me as something other than a woman, I just have to experiment a bit more first.

Izzy:''It’s time to speak up and stand up for what I believe in rather than just thinking it and being too scared of how others might perceive me.''

FEAR

Fear, fear is just an illusion but so many times it's the root of all problems. We let fear restrain us from doing new things, accepting new progress but most of all it stops us from embracing all these little changes that can impact us as a whole. It holds us back from making our community, our society, and our world just one. Just one little Big family. Hence, all the little dots remain unconnected and refrain the basic principle of mankind which is living. We live according to the rule of the majority. Thus the subsets are doomed to be repressed or ostracized. Imagine you were Aladdin and the magic lamp, what would be your three wishes?

Is there an option to ask for three more wishes?

Gosh, this is a hard question, I’d want to just go with the obvious and ask for the ceasing of world suffering! For everyone to be happy! But that wouldn’t actually work because without some form of suffering we can’t actually experience happiness.

I would definitely ask for the ceasing of wars though, they are completely unnecessary forms of suffering, maybe also to end the gender binary and have people of all genders treated equally, and (because I have to have one just for me) to be able to speak every language in the world, that would make travelling easier!

What is your relationship with fear?

This is a weird one for me because I’m both constantly in fear and also not really scared of anything? I have anxiety and spend most of my time stressing and worrying about the unknown, and it’s always about the little things. And yet I’ve traveled the world on my own and haven’t been phased really, would love to go skydiving, bungee jumping, try the world's biggest roller coaster. I’m generally the one out of my friends who will take on the responsibility of making important phone calls or asking questions other people don’t want to. So my relationship with fear is, complicated? I can feel both fearless and completely paralyzed with fear all in the same day sometimes. I think what I’m most fearful of is failure, and having a negative impact on other people, so if I’m doing something to help someone else or something that I can’t “fail” I have no fear at all.

MENTAL HEALTH

The plaster on her hip is not just a mere tattoo, it holds a deeper signification, it represents healing. It's a plaster which covers a scar that she inflicted on herself.

Izzy:''So if you’re reading this and you’ve even thought about harming yourself, just don’t, it’s not worth it. It doesn’t help you and in the long run, it will just make you feel so much worse. It sometimes feels stupid to call it an addiction, like alcohol or drugs, but that’s what it is and it stays with you.''

You are so admirable to acknowledge your struggle with self-harm.Thank you for talking about this sensitive and taboo subject. Speaking about your pain and struggles is like giving an outstretched hand to someone in the same position, this act is priceless. Being true to oneself is a thing but laying oneself bare in the eyes of others is a true sign of genuineness.As someone who has been through a lot, you emanate an amazing aura which transpires through the screen.How important is it for you to share your experience?

For me sharing my experience was almost like a “fuck you” to my struggles with mental health. I was writing the post and my brain was going “no don’t publish this, people don’t want to know” and I pressed publish and put a middle finger up to the voice doubting in my head. I didn’t want to feel like I had anything to hide anymore because I’d been hiding it from most people for almost eight years.

It’s also important because I know that it’s something that has so much stigma around it, no one seems to “understand why anyone would want to do that to themselves” and it’s something that comes with a lot of shame. So I wanted to put my post out there and say that people don’t have to be ashamed. Even if one person ended up reading it and feeling better about their own struggles it was worth it.

What message would you like to share so as to change people's preconceived ideas about self-harm?

I mainly just want people to stop seeing self-harm as something that’s something that you should be ashamed of, or disgusted by. I would love a world where nobody felt the need to self-harm, but it’s an addiction that people are always going to suffer with, and so I want to remove this idea that people are doing it “just for attention” when it’s so much more complicated than that.

Izzy:''If you’re struggling mentally, whether you’re self-harming or not, please seek help. It took me four years to properly tell anyone how much I was struggling and that’s one of my biggest regrets, life’s too short to live it hating yourself. And though I still struggle sometimes, and probably will for the rest of my life, I am far beyond what I ever dreamed and could be in terms of my life and happiness right now.''

Confidence

The pathway towards happiness is about loving and accepting ourselves beyond others opinion and judgment.Easy said than done!

But little steps are worth the journey because you'll get to savour every moment of it. The struggles, the self-doubt all that seems to be negative are crucial to personal growth.

The gift of life is about discovering the treasures that encapsulate our being through adversity. Flowers blossoms through seeds just as growth blossoms from pain.

From the time you’ve started blogging till now your self-confidence has increased considerably. From being self-conscious to take photos in public, little by little you've worked on what was at first an Achilles' heel.What would be your personal advice for those struggling with low self-esteem?

Start with baby steps, and be kind to yourself, you’re not going to go from someone with extremely low self-esteem to the most confident version of yourself overnight. You have to acknowledge the problems you have without judging them and little by little find ways to overcome those problems.

You also need to challenge yourself, a lot, you won’t get that far if you stay within your comfort zone. As scary as it is, sometimes you have to take a leap and do something that terrifies you, but afterwards you feel like you’ve suddenly leveled up, it’s extremely freeing.

Oh and there will be setbacks, but don’t let that completely discourage you. I’m worlds away in confidence from where I was four or five years ago but I still have days where I don’t believe in myself and where I feel like I’m back at square one, but really I’m just having a bad day. Those happen, and they pass.

How do you challenge your self-doubting thoughts?

I have a couple of different ways of dealing with self-doubt, depending on how I’m feeling.

On my best days, I challenge the thoughts head on and tell them they’re wrong, if they’re telling me I’m ugly I say “no I’m damn cute shut up”, if they tell me I’m not good enough I say I’ll prove them wrong. But this isn’t always something I have the energy for.

On other days I just acknowledge them as just thoughts, that don’t serve me and don’t need to be dwell on. In this case, I’ll have a self-doubt thought come up and just think “this does me no good” and I’ll let go, stop focusing on it. This is easier said than done and takes a lot of practice, but things like meditation can help with letting go of thoughts that aren’t helpful.

And on my worst days I distract, when I have no energy and am having my worst days in terms of self-doubt, where I can't bring myself to challenge the thoughts, or even just to let them go, I occupy myself with something else. Ideally something productive/creative like going to take pictures, doing yoga, or painting, but other times I’ll just watch documentaries on you-tube about cuttlefish, or dinosaurs, and wait it out until they pass. This last one isn’t an effective solution in the long term, but sometimes it’s the best I can do, which is OK.

Photography

Your personality is embedded in your gestures, copy and paste does not form part of your lexicon, you are your own kind of authenticity and you're not afraid to showcase to the world who you are. One of your signature pose, the one falling off the ground. I am just flabbergasted on how you transfigure the little things into subtle meaningful one.

Izzy: '' Falling over in a field is how I spend my time, I like this set of fields because not many people walk through and you can always hear them before they can see you.I'm not as shy as I used to be but still me with my blue hair stood in a field with her camera is weird enough let alone if I start taking pictures of myself face planting the ground.''

I have a sensation that photography is your way of evasion, hours of Photoshop to photography experiments. You are creativity and creativity makes you whole & just as Will Durant once said ''we are what we repeatedly do.'' what kind of sentiments do you share with your art?

A lot of time there’s nothing deep and meaningful behind taking my photos (though I do want to do more deep, artsy stuff in the future), most of the time what comes out the best was a happy accident, an experiment.

For me, it’s about having fun and just creating something and saying “yeah I did that” more than anything. I love to just play around and lose myself in taking pictures, even if I am just running around on a beach or falling over in fields taking photos I do always lose myself and feel a sense of achievement afterwards. It’s also nice to see improvements in art, because I may not be the best photographer in the world but I’m a lot better than when I first started and that feels good, it feels good having put the hours into something that I love and to have gotten something back from it. Recently I’ve been enjoying playing with color, I like art that feel slightly surreal, but not over the top, and so I incorporate that into my own. And I think that’s what I like to share, just having fun, experimenting, doing your own thing, and continually learning.

By sharing the ABC of ethical and sustainable fashion, she takes a step in making this world a better place.She instills a drive in her audience to be more conscientious of what they consume and buy.How did your journey towards a more ethical lifestyle started, what was the spark that lit this desire of yours?

I can't remember where exactly it sprung from, I think it was a mixture of things. Partly it was travelling and fully taking in and experiencing how different people live, and also realizing how much, in wealthier parts of the world, we exploit poorer people so that we can live more comfortably. Travelling really helped me realize what a privilege I have and how my actions can impact on people on the other side of the world, and I didn’t want that impact to be a negative one.

So I wanted to change my consumption for the better, and a few of the blogs I followed at the time started becoming more ethical too, which made me see it as a lifestyle that I’d never considered before.

Why do you love astrophysics?

Ah, me answering this question three days before my astrophysics exam I’m thinking “do I love astrophysics?”.

I think for me it’s about the surreal again, and the unknown. So much about the universe is a complete mystery, there’s so much out there that we can’t even comprehend, and that fascinates me. I’ll learn something new and my brain’s automatic response is “nope, can’t be real, doesn’t make sense” yet, as far as we currently know, it is real. And I love that, I love the mindfuckery and the challenge that comes with trying to understand something we’re probably never going to fully understand.

My name is Gaby and I am a french engineer living in Paris. I am 24 and I have a pretty busy life! Indeed I work for the French army, I am a content maker for companies and for two years now, I own a blog, GabyOwl. This website is a place where I feel free to share my thoughts, my pictures, my videos, my style and everything that has a part in my life.

Her blog GabyOwl is a jewel, a precious platform where she shares very detailed makeup tutorials, informative beauty reviews, and fashion outfits. Most importantly it's a place where you will get to know her on a more personal ground through the different themes that she discusses.

Why naming your blog GabyOwl?

It is pretty simple. I wanted something short and easy to remind. Something that sounds sweet to the ear. My name is Gaby and my spiritual animal is the owl, which is also my first ever tattoo (placed on my shoulder). So I quickly went for GabyOwl.

Gaby: '' I hardly prefer to hide my body under beautiful clothes with a good angle that makes me look cute.That fucking same angle every single time.''

During one of her first lingerie shooting, she revealed on her blog that she has been dealing

with body image. Body image is about how we perceive ourselves. Sometimes we tend to have a negative internalized image of our body. We scrutiny each part of it in the mirror, we compare ourselves to others, we envy the perfect models or ''post bad'' we see on Instagram. This distorted perception of beauty is caused by media, low self-esteem, and other factors. What I found amazing about Gaby is the fact that she raises her voice on such sensitive and taboo topic. She brings positivity, encourages her readers to accept their true-self and inspires them to acquire body confidence.

Gaby, I know that body image was a subject of stress for you and that modeling helped you to see your true-self. Can you share with us more about how you overcame this challenging issue?

I am that kind of person who always tries to challenge itself. I think that I spend most of my free time finding what makes my life harder today and how I can find a solution to go through. Maybe it’s my engineer studies that have put this state of mind in my personality, maybe I was born this way, I don’t really know. But I remember the day I realized staying locked in a cell that you have built with your own hands, literally kills you. That day I decided to change my life and open the cage. I decided to be the only one to control my future.

My body has always been a difficult subject for me. I have never felt good in my own skin. But why? I could be so happy if I was just accepting myself as I am! So I decided to jump from the cliff and show my body as it is, with flaws and blemishes. Doing this, I have learned to see beauty and subtlety too.

what advice would you give to people struggling with low self-esteem?

Challenge yourself, learn how to love you, try things you thought you were not able to do, succeed, fail and try again, see that you can actually do whatever you want, be whoever you want. You decide what your life is going to look like, give you the opportunity to have the best of it.

Why did you choose this career field?

Well at first I always loved cars. I have worked for the most famous French car manufacturer for three years and I admit that I have been totally disgusted by this industry. Men are so rude with women, so disrespectful. Those years were the hardest of my life. So when I had the opportunity to do something else, I jumped on it. I have always been interested in defending my country. And I was at a point in my life where I needed to feel useful for others. I wanted to give my skills to people who deserved it. This is why I decided to enter Ministry of Defense.

Fashion and military are kinds of the opposite, how do you manage the best of both worlds?

You know when people hide their tattoos, piercings, and stuff at a job interview ? I am definitely not that kind of person. I entirely assume myself and my choices. I am me, 100%. I am feminine, I love fashion, I love being well dressed every day, have some makeup on, show my tattoos and my weird hair! This is who I am. I do my work most than well and people always accept how I look like at the end. When they see that you have a strong character and you are not going to let your physical appearance have any consequences on your work, they shut the fuck up!

What would you like to leave as a legacy in this world?

I wish I could say that I plan to do something amazing for our world but I don’t. Because I am not. Every day I am trying to make someone happy. I hope people will remember me as the girl who always had a smile on her face and was trying hard, every single day, to put one on yours.

Gaby, in the fashion blogosphere there are some topics which bloggers usually tend to avoid so as not to appear vulnerable, misunderstood, labeled or even rejected. But is that not human to be vulnerable? what I like about you are the different things that you share with us about your life, your pain, your sadness, your doubts and to be honest sometimes I find myself in the words that you've written. The reason I interview bloggers is to find genuine people like you, who write what they feel without any filters, who reveals their authentic selves and who goes beyond the fashion Icon that they may represent for others. Ma falaise, Reborn, Pause. play. move on, j’en suis incapable are some of the blog posts that reveal more about you.

Why have you chosen to show your vulnerability to your audience and how do you think it helps others?

First, it helps me. I want to be that kind of person who is honest from start to end. Life is not always beautiful, we all have fears, flaws and more. I want to be 100% myself on my blog, even if it means not being a part of that “sell a perfect life” trend. I think that if more people were doing like me, we would be used to see those aspects of life we hardly accept. We always compare ourselves to Icons, but they do have flaws! Everyone has. They do have hard times, bad moments and more. The perfect life does not exist, why would you buy a thing that you will never be able to possess?

''What makes you vulnerable makes you beautiful'' I found this quote of Brene Brown amazing. If you had to quote something about yourself what would it be?

If I had to quote something for myself it would be “A princess who doesn’t fight is not a princess”. Because we all want to be the beautiful princess, living the perfect life doing what she wants with who she wants. But you have to deserve it, you have to fight. Every single day. You can be that princess, choose it.

How would you define your style and what inspires you?

My style is more a “none” style I admit! I just wear what I love and what I think suits me. It doesn’t please everyone but I don’t care. I don’t follow fashion designers, Icons, I’m definitely not a part of the trend. But I do what I want and as I am feeling good in those outfits, I keep moving forward!

You hide the meaning of your tattoos under lovely and girly designs, to what extent are tattoos important to you?

All my tattoos have a strong meaning for me. They are inked in my body but most of all they are deeply engraved on each bone I have. They represent a moment in my life, a feeling I have felt, someone important to me, everything that builds me. I hide them under girly designs because they mostly are dark memories I am trying to proceed and accept. It is a difficult thing to ink this kind of thing on your body for your entire life. I wanted to make them look pretty in order to show that even if it is something that can destroy you, you are able to make the best of it.

Gaby, you love cats, tells us more about your furry animals.

Yeah, I definitely love cats! I adopted my first one, Minouche, four years ago when I had one of my hardest breakups (I know, what a cliché !). This babe takes care of me as much as I take care of her. And to be original, I adopted my second one, Mamoute, six months ago when I had to face another breakup… Hope that I will not have to be in this situation again soon, I will die as a lonely cat lady if not!

Anyway, I am the happiest now to have them both in my life. They bring so much love and joy in my house, so many cuddles and laughter. They truly helped me fighting loneliness and depression. I am so grateful!

You are a huge fan of Lingerie, another topic that you talk on your blog but which still remains rare on other platforms. Nowadays, it seems as if Lingerie is only a sexual or intimidating thing. But It’s not. Lingerie empowers women to look and feel comfortable in their own skin. How would you encourage women to democratize this topic and what is your favorite brand?

Lingerie on the web is a very difficult topic. People are so used to see sexual and intimidating porn pictures and vid that, every time they see a woman half naked, they judged. People judged being naked online. They always criticized with painful words such as “you should be ashamed of your body”, “children are following you, how do you dare”. This is why I am very careful when I post pictures of lingerie set or me wearing lingerie. Those articles are the hardest to post online, those are the ones I work the most on, those are the ones that ask me hours and hours, way more than classic topics. And only because I want to publish the best about lingerie. I want to demonstrate that showing your body and talk about lingerie is not a taboo. Lingerie is not a sexual thing or a vulgar topic. On the contrary, lingerie is all about femininity, delicacy, subtlety. What a powerful thing to feel feminine, delicate and subtle! It empowers every woman.

If people were to put their eyes more on articles like this than on porn website, the vision of the woman in our society would be totally different. So please girls, let’s democratize this topic!

Gaby, you are a super sensitive and empathic person. Before interviewing the blogger Eeva I never knew that it could affect a person’s life. How does this impact on your daily life?

Well, being sensitive and empathic affects your life a lot. In a bad way but in a positive one too. People always talk about how difficult it is in your everyday basis. I can’t count how many articles I have read on the internet about girls suffering from it.

I have been this girl, a few years ago.

But when I decided to change and become a better person, I realized that being sensitive and empathic is an incredible asset in life to help others. A sensitive human being is able to deeply feel everything around, an empathic person can understand the situation of anyone, what they feel and what they need to heal, go forward, reborn or just be ok. I use those skills every single day to be the most helpful friend for the one I love and each one of them will tell you that I am a caring friend that always listens and cares. So yes, it’s hard to be that sensitive. It’s a work on yourself to control it. But when you understand how it works and decides to use it for others, you have won the war. I promise.

How amazing is Janine Ramos? This is the perfect starting question to get to know the blogger behind the impressive blog zanzookht. Am literally blown away by this fresh and sweet Filipina. In three words: risk-taker, breathtaking and inspiring would define her, but there is so much more. She is a dose of vitamin C and it’s not an overstatement. I came across her blog and thought why not interviewing her, but little did I know at that time, that I would come across a wonderful person with whom I would love to become friend with. This is what I like about fashion, each creator is unique and each one brings something special to this industry. And we are fortunate to have Miss Janine as an Ambassador of beauty who reflects amazing values.

Fashion and Travel blog contributor, she loves puppies, promotes hugs, hot chocolate, and big fluffy pillows.

In 2015, her life completely took a spin around. She quit her microbiologist job for fashion courses. Starting all over requires some gut and courage. She left a stable and easy life, to pursue her dreams which means more sacrifice and hard work: working on weekdays as a blog contributor and on weekend night shifts as a data researcher.

Janine, during this whole period you overcame struggles, depression, anxiety and even fear. Can you share with us how come you’ve been unstoppable?

The hardest thing for me to do was deciding to quit my already stable job for something unknown. I didn’t know what was in store for me. What I did know was that it was going to be a bumpy ride. I’m uncertain if this applies to other cultures too, but for us Asians, what our parents want us to do matters a great deal. My parents didn’t want me to pursue the arts and that created a lot of tension in the family. Knowing I wouldn’t get any support, I saved up for months just to be able to move to a different city and pay my tuition fee. I took on online jobs to get by every day. I risked a lot. The fact that I went through thorns to be where I am now is what motivates me not to quit no matter what.

Janine: ‘’ I believe in myself more now. I believe that standing out is better than fitting in. I believe that talent will only get you so far.’’

When was the turning point, that made you realize that your talent was fashion and that you had to pursue this dream?

I used to be a very insecure teenager. I only found myself when I was already studying at the university. And since I was studying for a degree in food technology, I didn’t really have many subjects wherein I could express my creativity. One fine day, I saw a local blogger (Tricia Gosingtian) on tv. I ended up searching for bloggers. At first, I used to copy looks, but then I became more and more adventurous with my clothing and found my own preferences and personal style. Dressing up became my creative outlet and it gave me the confidence boost that I needed.

As for pursuing the dream, I realized it a little late. I was already working as a microbiologist. I worked too much and stayed too long in the laboratory all the time. I lost my creative outlet and little by little I lost myself. The depression that came afterward was a factor to why I finally decided to pursue whatever I actually wanted.

Janine: ‘’Fashion styling course not only made an impact on my style preferences but more importantly on my personal growth’’

During the process of pursuing your dreams, what did you discover about yourself and tells us more about your personal growth?

Being a person with social anxiety, I never really know what I’m capable of unless I am forced to go out there. Taking the styling class gave me answers to the doubts I used to have. I realized that I do have what it takes, that I am not average, that I do have the talent, and that all I have to do is to stop doubting myself all the time.

Janine embodies perseverance, strength, and willpower. She would be an amazing role model for any people willing to pursue their dreams.

Her blog zanzookht, a play on the German word “sehnsucht” meaning yearning, will motivate and trigger you to never give up on your hopes, aspirations or ideals. It’s quite overwhelming to me whenever people tell me that I inspire them or motivate them in some way. It’s exactly what I was aiming for when I started blogging my story and my feelings aside from my personal style, but it still surprises me that it’s actually happening. It fills my heart with joy and it motivates me, even more, to work harder.

Her Instagram followers are not just a number for her. It’s not a surprise to see the genuine response she receives there considering how unique she is.I can feel that you share a special bond with them; you energize them to be happier. How do they bring the best out of you?

I don’t try to collect followers on Instagram. It would be very useful for sponsored blogs, but the truth is, I like collect FRIENDS on Instagram. The closest ones I’ve met there are what I’d like to call my IG fam. It’s easy to get followers, but it’s easier to lose them. However, if you gain friends, you’d enjoy the social media experience even more. A lot would share inspiring stories with you and they leave you the sweetest most thoughtful comments and messages. I make sure I am the same to them. The very first “best friend” I had on IG was Natalie of @herpersonatalie. We both LOVE genuine people. We started out almost at the same time and we’ve been growing and building each other up on social media ever since.

This effervescent woman has another passion which is music.

You have an amazing voice, singing LA VIE EN ROSE d'Edith Piaf and in French am speechless. On top of that, you play guitar.Tell us more about this passion and other passions that you may have.

I love music. If I weren’t pursuing fashion, I’d be pursuing music. I play the clarinet, guitar, and ukulele. I’m not the best player and singer out there, but it’s one of my most loved hobbies. I’m more inclined to old-school jazz music. Some of my favorites are Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Louis Armstrong.

What would be your dream job in the fashion industry?

I have a lot of dream jobs in the fashion industry. To name a few, I’d love to become a fashion stylist with my own clothing line, a curator or director, or a fashion buyer. My next journey is knowing the top one out of all my dream jobs and making it happen.

How would you describe your style and what influences it?

My style has changed significantly ever since I started pursuing fashion. I no longer limit myself to what other people might say. Right now my style is sort of me just combining things that most people might not think of putting together and then make it work. Often I’m attracted to the edgy minimalist and healthy goth aesthetics.

Hello am Eeva,
I was born in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and have been living in Helsinki most of my life. I come from a quite poor family with lots of different challenges. I've always been the one who gets to settle and stand aside when others get to have things and do things. My family and I, we have not been as fortunate. This is why the following subjects are so important to me; inner growth, inner beauty, personal style and overall understanding and accepting others. I grew up to be creative and persistent, and one of my biggest goals in life is to make my mom proud, (who past away 4 years ago struggling cancer for the third time), by succeeding in life.

One of the most interesting thing I love about reading blogs, is discovering the character behind each bloggers. It is true that people decide what to post but we can get a glimpse of their personalities. What I have discovered about Eeva is her honesty. She writes what she thinks. It’s definitely unconventional to see bloggers raise their voice on certain topics as she does. Eeva is a super positive person, even if she has gone through hardships, she finds no reason to worry about things. Her blog is definitely a place where you will get motivated to achieve your dreams and a place where you’ll learn more about entrepreneurship especially in the field of creative work. She is not only a determined, strong-minded and intuitive girl who relies on her instinct but she is also the entrepreneur of Roots. A company that she owns.

What do you find challenging in doing everything from the design, photo shoots to the marketing tasks without a team?

I find the biggest challenge to be lack of time, but that's not by any means the only challenge. I have small assets, meaning money, and it takes a lot out of me to try to create everything out of nowhere, using my imagination and creativity. My biggest assets are, actually, my mind, my hands, and the fact that I am willing to make the effort.

Eeva, when we talk about the subject of female entrepreneurship there is always room for comparison with our male counterpart, how do you deal with that?

I try to focus on my own space and what I'm doing instead of what others are doing, and most of all, HOW they do it. It's an eternal battle for me to try to showcase that there are many ways you can do your own thing and not letting others to determine what is correct. But it is true, the society demands more from us female entrepreneurs, and I don't consider it to be fair.

Tells us more about ROOTS, what was your vision when you’ve created it and what makes it different from other street style brands?

Roots Inc. is a combination of handmade street wear and customized second hand, to fit to the current street fashion scene. I've always favored recycling and ethics, and that was the first thing I wanted to put into my work. Second part is that I love mixing styles and clothes from different genres, that is how you create the most exiting outfits in my point of view. I would love to create a bigger clothing line and serve really cool, well detailed custom clothes in addition. Maybe that will be the next step for Roots.

What is your secret to stay motivated?

I am such a believer, and a positive and intuitive person. I don't think that our biggest dreams come to us only to be ignored. I believe there is a reason. I've found this passion and vision of mine, and a reason why everything has happened the way that they have. My past, my journey towards entrepreneurship and now the 2 years I've been an entrepreneur. Those things didn't happen to me to let go and stop trying, I know there is something big to come. This spark keeps me going.

Eeva one of your strength is your willingness to fail. You are not afraid to be a risk taker. How did you forged this trait of your personality?

I have never believed your failures or struggles could define you in the end. The thing that defines us is our ability to stand up and try again. The way you react to things that happen and ability to see the silver lining in everything. Also, I believe, if there are no possibilities to be seen, you can create your own chances.

Eeva’s style is not about high end but she rather loves street style inspired by Rihanna, Rita Ora and Fanny Lyckman. Eeva: ‘’ I can promise you you’ll never catch me with a designer bag on my arm, I simply hate what that represents to so many people.’’ She privileges style over brand.

What do you like about street style?

The youth aspect, the countless possibilities, the attitude, showing your personality, the coolness of it all.

How does it represent your personality?

I dress how I feel. And the thing is that I'm a rocker soul, with a hood girl inside of me, and little bit of boho too. My style is not to label myself. And one of the things I love to show is those second hand clothes in my outfits, simply because I choose style over brands and don't believe that money can define your looks and status by any means. I know that is not how mainstream thinks, but hell, I'm not mainstream.

This interview would not be complete without talking about HSP, high sensitive person. Eeva can you share with us your life before and after knowing you were a high sensitive person. What counsel would you give to people facing the same life experience as you.?

This is a big subject and really defines me a lot. I could write a book about this subject! I've always known there's something different about me. The way I am and how my energy is. I haven't met many people in my life who can identify with me and how I think and see the world, and that does make me feel lonely at times. Tell us more about it:

I generally shoot people. I outline/design the photo-shoots, direct and also style the people for them. I try to avoid clichés and overly sexy poses, and add my own vision to every shoot, which I think is a rockfish vibe. I've had the opportunity to shoot and style some of the Finnish artists, such as Sanni, Evelina and Krista Siegfrids whom are the top artists in Finland. I hope I’ll get the chance to proceed with my photography for many years to come.

INTERVIEW WITH BEATRIZ MARIANO : THE RECKLESS BLOOD

Hello there!

My name is Beatriz Mariano. I was born on the September 9th in 1994 (so I'm now 21). I'm Portuguese, but I lived in Berlin until I was 3/4 years old.

Well, I can tell you that I'm a very weird person, “I myself am strange and unusual" (quoting Beetle-juice). I'm very outgoing and fun - or so I like to believe - when I'm with friends, but I can guarantee you that I'm the shyest person on earth within a group of strangers. Most of the people read me as this grumpy, unfriendly, full of hatred metalhead chick, but whenever they actually get to know me, people can get quite pleasantly surprised to find out that I'm just a calm and weird looking person. I have great friends that have told me "when I first met you, I was so fucking afraid of you because you look like you're about to murder someone, but then I got to know, and I'm really happy that we're friends now" ha-ha, the perks of owning the resting-bitch-face syndrome.

I love everything about creativity. I love to create; I love to be able to express myself through something I can make with my own bare hands. I love to read, I love to learn, and I love to acquire facts and knowledge about anything I can lay my mind on. I love putting my hands into that and transmit it all together with my influences in my art. I also am I great music lover - do I need to specify heavy metal? - I love to close my eyes and just create an entire universe of imagery all-around of how music makes me feel. And those are the things that motivate me the most to become the artist that I am, and that I'm still yet to be.

I guess that kind of resumes it all. I'm just a weird looking heavy metal fanatic with an unusual and bizarre taste, but I might just surprise you.

Her blog ‘’RECKLESS BLOOD’’ is a place where she shares her passion for photography, her style and diverse topics related to her work. Before Interviewing Beatriz, dark colors especially ‘’ Black’’ did not appeal much to me. But while reading her blog, I have gained a deep interest in how BLACK could be vibrant. Especially when she was talking about photography. Photography is one of her biggest passion in life. Through her black and white photographs, we have a glimpse of her sensitivity.

Her studies in visual culture and photography are now enabling her to make commercial videos for various brands.

What do you enjoy the process of making videos?

I just love the entire process of it! I love imagining what would fit, creating fields and photographic compositions, colors, framings, and then filming it all, editing, and literally just watching it come to life!

According to you, what’s the best photograph you’ve ever taken and explain what does that particular photograph express?

Oh. Shit. I can't quite say I have a favorite photograph! I love them all equally because I know the entire process behind them, their flaws and perfections. It's like looking at ourselves, to be honest. But of course, there are a few that give me a little pinch in the stomach and a chill in the spine of just how proud I am.

The black and white you do in your photographs is your trademark, how is it different from the black and white that other photographers do?

You see; I don't know... I've heard that my entire career though. I've heard great Names in the creative area (painters, editors, photographers, and even musicians) say that my pictures seem to transmit something they couldn't ever see elsewhere, that they're strong and impactful, and that they stick in your mind. Makes me extremely proud of course, but I can't quite explain it to you. I just put my entire self in every little thing that I do.

You once said: ‘’Capture the heart and soul of the moment, just capture all the feelings.’’ How do you do to achieve that?

Well, you achieve that when you're caught in a moment/situation where you're feeling all these emotions and all of the adrenaline rushing through your veins, that somehow give you this sense of unreality as if you were living a dream, and then, you're able to capture that, frame it, and be able to say "wow, this shows exactly what I was feeling at that exact moment".

Why do you love photography?

I love photography because I'm an extremely "visual" person, as in I think about everything through images. You know, sometimes I'm lying in bed, and I randomly wake up at 4am with an idea, and I get up, draw it down, and in the next day, I HAVE to do it! It just gives this anxiety and rush to create it, to edit it, and then sometimes print it and think "fuck, did I make this? this is me?". It's really fulfilling to hold with your own hands' something that you create from scratch.

Photography is probably one of the main reasons that have helped me push my own boundaries. I see photography as a way to break barriers. Photography seemed to be, in my entire life, the only way I could always get through challenges and difficulties in life: expressing insecurities, nightmares, and fears, physically as art, is what has made me overcome all of those, and not be scared (or insecure) of them anymore. And that is probably one of the strongest motives that have helped me push forward and has definitely helped me find myself, as an artist and as a person.

How did this passion for photography start?

Well, first of all, it all started when I first grabbed a pencil and started to draw. I've never put it down ever since. That sense of having a blank space and turning it into art is just overwhelming! Then, of course, I've always had a passion for "creative writing", and with that came the lyric writing, together with my love for music. I started composing at a really early age, and I still have all of that saved. Of course, I look back at those files and think "what the fuck was I thinking?" and laugh, but at the same time I look at them as a record of my evolution, and I have serious pride in that. With music came, of course, completing that with images, so I started making these home-made videos, and since then I spend many many many hours researching videos, and all sorts of art forms. And with the video, of course, came photography. But I think my biggest step into the world of photography was when my drawing teacher (Ana Paula Xavier) in 10th grade forced my class into using Photoshop and I just immediately fell in love with all of the creative processes around it! That was the first time working with that kind of software and I scored a 20/20 (A), I still have that work up on my wall!

Beatriz is not just a photographer or videographer; she has multiple talents. She is a singer and musician. Her all artistic influences are basically the well-known Death, Morbid Angel, Venom and not to forget her favorite soundtrack Slayer. To resume she is a heavy metal lover. While scrolling through her old posts, I saw a cover she has made on youtube sometimes ago and her voice is amazing. Here is the cover.

What place does music have in your life and how does it help you?

Music plays a huge roll in my life. It always has. I remember going through some tough phases as an unfit kid, and listening to music would always make me feel so much better and calmer. It was nice knowing that someone else has already felt what I did, and made that into music. That made me want to make music as well! I had music classes when I was younger, I can read and write a music sheet. I play the piano and the drums as well. Unfortunately, I feel a huge heartache for not being able to play the guitar (yet) but I'll get there. And of course, I sing.

Writing songs is actually a very healing process to me. Makes me think everything through, and at the same time, thinking my lyrics through, and eventually associate things I feel or memories I have with musical connotation I create from it. It's wonderful recovery process.

Do you plan to make more videos in the future?

Yes, of course! I'll hopefully be launching new stuff this year.

Beatriz, you get a lot of support from your readers. They do beautiful illustrations. What does it mean for you?

I do! It's amazing! Sometimes I swear it's fucking hard to believe it! People actually take the time to draw me, and my art... That leaves me speechless, to be honest, I can't quite thank everyone enough for all the love and care they've been having! It really means the world to me, to create things and then see people enjoying it this much! It brings me tears to my eyes, really! One thing I can tell you for sure, I'm gonna repay every single one of these souls for their love, somehow! I'm a very thankful person, and I like to give back twice the loving! And they fucking deserve it!

Do you think in the future years you could go outside your comfort zone, by adding more colors to your wardrobe?

Colors..? What is that...? Ha-ha. But no, never! I'll stop wearing black when they invent a darker color!

How about getting your ears modified? Can you tell us more about it?

I'm supposing you're wondering about the elvish ears? Those are photoshopped! But it's alright, I've had a shit ton of people asking where I've modified them ha-ha, and sometimes they don't even believe it's photoshopped because "they look way too realistic". Other than that, just 3 earrings, 20mm tunnels, an industrial, a helix and a rook piercings.

In one word how would you describe your style?

Metal.

What are your favorite brands?

Well, I don't have many, but I love Toxic Vision by Sheron Ehman - good fucking lord I just don't have the money to buy all of her stuff. Killstar, of course, everything Tila makes is perfect! And Disturbia obviously, they have some grunge stuff as well!

Mikkel, how would you describe your style?
I thought about this for a long time, i am bad at talking about myself. You know i am also one of those awkward people who don't know how to react when i receive a compliment. But I think my answer to how i will describe my style has to be "detailed in a simple way". I don't think i overdo or try to hard when it comes to my outfits. I think everyone can be a part of my little style universe.

Details

I know that you love details in a look, so what "accessories" do you add to spice up your daily looks?
Yes, and i have become a big fan of hats lately (I"m behind i know) so a lot of my looks is accessorized with some kind of head wear. And how great is it if you don't want to do anything to your hair, you can just put on a hat and then look like you got your shit together?

Copenhagen is now considered as the fourth most fashionable city in Europe, it has entered the arena on an international level due to its great designers with high achieving labels.

The city has plenty of cool designer who excel in the art of clothing design that is suited to the frigid weather.

What are your indispensable clothing items in winter?
-No doubt it is a great comfy knit! Nothing beats a good knit that just fits perfectly with a pair of skinny jeans. You can always create some variation with a knit sweater if you just add a nice shirt underneath it.

What are your favorite looks in Winter?
I really like my DR Martens boots in this look and here is a great example of a great knit sweater if you ask me! :)

If we had to go to Denmark, what places would you recommend us for shopping?
The biggest tourist shopping attraction in Denmark is “Strøget” , It's a long street with stores located in central Copenhagen. But I think it is a bit crowded so i like to shop in the stores that are located on the small side alleys to “Strøget”. Magasin and Illum are two giant shopping, which are quite similar to Bloomingdale, they are also located in central Copenhagen.

How was your trip experience?
It was really one of the best decision to travel through; Australia , New Zealand and some islands in Indonesia. And I am so glad I decided to travel with a good friend. We supported each other and just had so much fun. I also love the fact that i have a person to share all the memories and experiences with. We saw so much beautiful nature and met so many different kind of people. It was really an amazing adventure and i would do it all again.

Today its a great pleasure for me to feature the amazing Pallavi Ramasami a Mauritian photographer. I had this amazing opportunity to work with her and i have to confess that she is one of a kind. It was a very nice and unique experience. Hope you'll enjoy this interview. All these pictures shown are her favorite photographs she has ever taken.

Pallavi, tell us a little bit about you?

This question gets me thinking.. Hmm.. Everybody knows me as a photographer.
I believe I am an artist who gets the chance to capture and immortalize bits and pieces from people’s lives, and show it to them, the way I see it.

Your biggest dream in life?

To be happy, whatever I do.
Wake up happy, spend a day happily and go to bed even happier after thinking of the good day I spent.
And being grateful for every smile I gave to others and to myself.

In three words how would you describe yourself?

Crazy, crazy, crazy :D

In your spare time what do you enjoy doing apart from photography?

My whole world revolves around images,whether still or moving, I see life as a painting, a photograph or a movie.

Who do you admire the most in life?

My mother and women I meet in daily life. These women means so much in life, and I am lucky I met them and learn from their stories and experiences.

Where would you go if you had to escape from reality?
Go to ‘’Sleep’’

The different things that inspires your work?

Everything I see... Sometimes I look at my fiancé and I go ‘’ouuuuh, this light is gorgeous on your face’’ and I am inspired.
Or I see my puppy and kitty playing and I feel happy.
Happiness brings all the positivity I need to do my work. I cannot work without being inspired. And luckily I do not need a lot to be inspired. Simple things in life make me happy.

In one word what does photography means for you?

"My everything", I cannot imagine myself without it.

What is the one thing you always think while shooting?

I don’t think, I shoot. Ha ha

What would you like to be doing in five years from now?

Photography and everything that connects with it. I won’t change now.. It took me a long time to know what I want to do. And now that I know, I won’t turn back.

What’s the most challenging thing in photography?

Pleasing myself.

I am often hyper after each photo session; I have favorite images, I am happy and excited to share them to my friends, family and my page.
But I don’t remain proud of these same images after a while.
So I create new work, and this goes again.
I guess it is a good thing to challenge yourself and constantly wanting to bring change to your work, your personality, your life. It only brings better things your way.

If you had to choose a memorable shooting what would it be and why?
The maternity sessions I did, are the most memorable. I can do them over and over.. and never get tired.
The new life growing in a human’s body always amazes me and the mother love for her offspring is such a beautiful thing. I love every second of being next to these mothers and I enjoy how they glow.
I adore being part of the joy of making this moment last forever through my work.
And meeting them again when their little bundle of joy is here doubles everything.

What do you do to differentiate yourself from other photographers?

Everyone is good at what they do in their own way.
I appreciate other photographers’ work and I enjoy learning from them.
We never stop learning.

Your all time favorite song?
I have many songs that I play while working on my photos. Mostly French, English and Foreign languages.

Dez Offril , is a Filipino blogging from San Francisco. She started her blog “ The Style Bender “ on May 14^th 2013 and since then she continues blogging about her style.

Origins

Can you tell us more about you,your origins,and your life in San Francisco?

-My family came here from the Philippines a year before I was born. The Filipino community in the Bay Area is large and close knit. My family was always around while we were all growing up. I am definitely comfortable saying that I rarely made friends because I had cousins to hang out with while I was at school hahaha.

Even though I was born in the Bay Area, I have JUST recently journeyed into it. I'm not a fan of crowds or walking and that's pretty much the only way to travel in San Francisco. If you're not walking, you're just wasting your time trying to find parking. But I am only 24 years young and have a lot ahead of me, I can't wait to see what the world has to offer.

In my spare time I'm just at home catching up on television shows (HUGE TV BUFF) and hanging with my doggies.

Fashion

Dez Offril is a fashion blogger that does not stay in her comfort zone. She dares wearing colors that are clearly opposite from each other, specially primary colors. She adores mix and matching !!! .

· Dez how did you manage to find your style?

- You know I actually think my obsession with primary colors comes from me working at Hot Dog on a Stick for almost 5 years hahaha. While I was working there, I rarely branched out to find creative things to wear only because I knew sometime later in my day I would have to switch out of it and put on my "lovely" uniform. Once I left that was pretty much when my creativity started to tingle. But I could just not for the fucking life of me get away from that damn color scheme!!!

· What does fashion helps you to express?

- Fashion helps me express my creativity. While growing up I was into charcoal drawing and using oil pastels to make landscape portraits. Then when I got into high school I was introduced to graphic design and desperately wanted to go to school for it. Plans changed though and for a while I just stopped being artistic in a way, there was just no point. After things settled down for me and life was at a much easier pace that's

when I got back into it via blogging. Every time I'm putting an outfit together on my blog, I challenge myself and I absolutely love it. I get so excited just rattling my brain to see what I can come up with. It brings me back to those days in high school back in those graphic design classes. I ask myself what do I want my art (or outfit) to say today?

· Nowadays, physical appearance is extremely important for teenagers. They get rejected simply because they look different or dress differently, what advice would you give to them?

-I totally feel them on this. We all try so hard to fit in and then years later we just realize it was all bullshit because EVERY single person is different. If I could go back in time and give my younger self advice, I would tell her to not give a shit, that only important thing in life is to be a GOOD person. You can wear a paper bag for all I care. But as long as you're a good person, how you dress, how you look should NOT matter. I think people get so fixated on their outer appearance based on what negative things are being said to them, they forget how to be positive and start thinking negatively themselves. Its asking a lot of someone who gets rejected based on how they look but If they can just remember to be a good person no matter what, they will be extremely happy, guaranteed.

Thrifting

Dez : " Honestly, its better to go to a thrift shop, get a random tee and cut it up yourself"

Shopping at charity store, thrift shops, second-hand shops and vintage clothing stores has become popular enough to earn a slang term: thrifting. However, it was during the Second world war that charity shop became widespread.

Dez: " I cannot stress enough how awesome it is to thrift shop. It's a money saver ! . "

· Charity shops are often popular with people who are frugal. Can we qualify you as someone who is prudent and who avoids wasting a lot of money on expensive items?

-Yes definitely! Although I haven't been to a charity shop in the last few months, I still stand by what I've always said about it. People often get the wrong idea and think I go shopping every week for my blog. WRONG. A lot of my clothes are thrifted items I've saved over the passed few years and slowly rotate them into my outfits. Do not be afraid of thifting people!

· what were your best discoveries in thrifting?

-Ahh! There are so many. I have tons of cardigans, skirts, shoes, pretty much everything. If I had to pick ONE outstanding piece though, it would be this button up shirt, I saw it on the rack. It was huge and bold, totally not my size but I decided to pick it up anyway and I am glad I did.

Dez: "I normally hate going into downtown because I hate crowds, walking and DUH there's always online shopping! "

The famous Albert Einstein once said, "I hate crowds and making speeches." Have you always hated crowds, can we say that you are enochlophobia and why so?

-Hahaha I have always hated crowds. I guess I am more cynical about it than afraid of it. I don't mind going into crowds but if I had the option NOT to, I am taking it. Hahaha I went to LA recently for Paleyfest and it was CROWDED. But hey, this event only happens once a year so I should enjoy it. I ended up sitting next to a stinky guy for almost 2 hours and could not enjoy the event as much as I should have hahaha. OH and I am also pretty short (around 5 feet tall) no one ever seems to see the short Asian girl.

Dez: " People think i spend a lot of money doing online shopping but honestly i save money doing all this crap online"

· What are the online shops that you would recommend us ?

-Oh that's so funny, I think I mentioned this earlier haha. Most online shops are very helpful IF you subscribe to them. Yes you will get a whole bunch of spam you don't need but you will come across those emails that have 50% off ONLINE ONLY sales and it will save you TONS. The best deals I often see are from ASOS. I am part of their Premier ASOS package (free 2 day shipping on all orders) and get emails about deals a day before it is sent to everyone else.

Her Philosophy

Dez : " I love this philosophy, i do not drink alcohol or party hard"

In the early 2014, the neknomination, an online drinking game has led to several death. What are your thoughts about alcohol consumption ?

-Just Google that and I am appalled. I just don't get it! Alcohol doesn't taste good, the after effects aren't fun, your troubles DON'T go away, your breath stinks, you end up being a hot mess and its just bad! Alcohol has never been a negative aspect in my life, I just choose not to do it. I can understand how people turn to it based on their situations which is very unfortunate. But to those who DO have the option and drink for the sake of being drunk, it doesn't seem worth it. I would hate to have someone I love to take care of me because of my poor choices or even be taken advantage of. There are other things in life that are not detrimental to your health that can make you 10x more happier than when you're drunk.

Writing style

Dez, what i have notice while reading your blog is that you have a unique writing style which is not quite familiar and not conventional at all. However this adds a kind of twisssst in your post.

Dez: " I knew this was going to fucking happen, i fucking knew it......."

Not everyone dares writing like you do , how would you define your writing style ?

-I would define my style as honest. It's not perfect, my grammar sucks but at least I'm honest. At first I chose to go CLEAN for my blog but when those close to me read it they said it sounded super fake. I go with what I know and I know me and I curse a whollleeeee fucking lot. I'd call it the Sailors Mouth haha.

If yo had to Brand your blog with a catch phrase what would it be.

-First thing that popped to my head was "the fucking style bender". But that probably wouldn't do very well hahaha

Hair and skin

Dez : " EMBRACE YOUR NATURAL HAIR LADIES !!!! "

· Dez how would you describe your hair journey and how come, did you accept your natural hair ?

-My hair journey is confusing as fuck. As a child, my hair was thin, straight at the top, curly at the bottom. After I chopped it all off my hair became thick and coarse but not curly. I chemically treated my hair to make it straight which didn't turn out so well. It caused my roots to grow out curly and my hair texture was uneven. Then my hair became very curly which I LOVED. It took me a while to accept my curls because I always had straight hair. But seeing everyone around me with straight hair and me having curly hair just made me feel special haha. Now that I chopped off my hair though, its gone back to being straight -_-, go figure right? haha

Dez: "The one thing everyone should consider is investing more into skin care than actual make up."

Do you have any skincare routine, if any what are your favorites?

-I am a HUGE supporter of Marky Kay's Timewise skin care line. I use a cleanser, apply serum and night cream all at night. In the morning I use moisturizer and sun screen. Ashley Dy is a globetrotter , she needs adventure , she travels a lot and spends most of her money on trips we cannot blame her.Besides being a sightseer her dream is to travel the world and make her job a vacation. New-York , Chile, London, Singapore, Paris are on the top of her lists, the best place for a shopaholic. Her favorite countries are Japan, Australia and Hong-Kong and if she wasn't a Filipino, she might or would love to be half Australian, half Japanese.

-It's good for the economy of Japan of course. I definitely understand what they are trying to do. It's hard to earn money but we have to pay taxes right. That's my point. Even if I wouldn't be able to live in Japan forever, I cannot not go back to this country at least every year when I leave.

-My name is Kiko Cagayat, I`m a Filipino living in Japan. This country is very well known with their anime, technology, food and of course fashion.

Kiko, am very impress by your effortless sophisticated looks , there is one question i wish to ask you, how did you manage to find your style? and where do you get your inspiration to create your looks?

- My style depends on the availability of clothes and occasion. Magazines and movies inspire me but because of high technology, i also find some from blogs.

When you create your looks, what do you consider as the most important, on what details do you accentuate more?

-Whenever I create my own look, clothes will be my last priority. I focus on the light, angles, my facial reaction, pose and the proportionality of my body. It is important that you are the one carrying the look, not the clothes over taking you.

Nowadays there are so many fashion lookbookers, what do you try to bring in your pile of great looks so as to be one of a kind?

-It is important to have your own look. You should find your own style and statement for you to be always remembered.

You are talented , in some years where do you see yourself, still sharing this passion to the world, doing it as a job, being a name among others or being ''outstanding''

-I want to have my own family on the years coming. And if that happens, I might stop dealing with the fashion industry and focus more with them.

Tell us more about you , where you come from, your aims and aspiration for this year.

-Concerning myself am from Dortmund, a bigger city in Germany.

This years aim is to visit some fashion shows and I hope to be published in some magazines.

How did you get into fashion?

-Well, must have been when i was around 15 or 16. I was looking for clothes that fit me like I wanted it.

For me the fit on your body is even more important than the item itself.

A perfect fitting normal blue jeans is 1000 times better then a Rick Owens pants worn by the wrong people...
Micha tell us more about your sense of style, how would you describe it and what influences it?

I´m into a lots of different styles. My daily wear is influenced a lot by my current mood.

So sometimes i like some designer clothes which you normally don´t see on the streets but

most of the time I wear simple jeans and chinos with some nice shoes and a shirt.

I live in a very very tiny village in France (at the German border), where fashion doesn't exist & where people look at you like you were mad when you wear Litas..

My aim? Move to Belgium & work in fashion (like 10526594 other bloggers aha!) & my aspiration for this year is just to get my diploma!

How would you describe your style and what influences it?

Oh that’s hard to describe.. My style mostly depends on my mood, & I wear what I really like! There are some trends that I can’t wear, & that I will never follow if it is simply to do as other people!

what is most important for you in a look?

Most important is to feel yourself. Because we can easily see or feel when somebody isn't comfortable in his outfit, like a disguise.

If you had to select 3 of your favorite looks what would it be and why these choice?

A very « heavy » look, but I love the combination, it’s simply perfect !

I love the simplicity, I think this is a great ,every day outfit !

If we were to go to France for a trip what places would you advice us to go shopping and to visit?

Why is fashion important for you?

I hate people who have no style. They look like they have no identity, they wear the same clothes as everybody & criticize only because they are jealous. I want to show the world that fashion also shows who you are.

My other passion is photography, which I practice since 6 years. I discovered fashion thanks to photography & I've been associating both for two years now!

Interview with Ashley V ( Moons Like Suns)

Hi Ashley V, tell us more about, your origins, your aims and aspiration for 2013?

-I was born and raised in San Diego, California, but have family roots in Italy, Portugal and The Netherlands. I aim to eventually be a fashion designer of some sorts, ideally to have my own line. My aspiration for 2013 is to launch my jewelry line and to blog more !

You are now living in Paris, was it easy to adapt and how do you find it?

-I actually moved back to California in July, unfortunately ! But I went through my study abroad program at school. It was difficult at first, mostly because the French you learn in school is very different from the French you actually speak. But after a few months of settling in, it became easier. Once I found French friends, it became even easier, and I felt like I was actually living the French life ! It's a real eye opening experience when you get to discover and live in another culture. I absolutely adore the French people, language and lifestyle, and I am planing on going back in a year for my Master's in Fashion Design !

Tell us more about your passion for making jewelry and share with us more about your jewelry line ?

-I've always had a love for fashion, and jewelry goes hand in hand with it. I've created my own jewelry since I was about 16 and I kept getting complimented on my pieces, so I decided to make more, and started to sell it. Also, my friend and I created a line for our senior project at our University. We both had wanted to create something together, so we took the opportunity to start Moons Like Suns. The name came from a word game I was playing, and it stuck! Right now we kind of just choose elements we find appealing to ourselves, and just work with the materials we have. It's a very organic process. She and I have a very good dynamic, she has what I lack and vice versa.

What is your favorite handmade jewel?

-I absolutely adore these stacking rings by Annika Kaplan

If you were to chose between fashion and jewelry what will be your choice?

-I would have to choose fashion, because it was my first passion.

Describe your personal style and its influences?

-It's hard for me to describe my style... I guess it's darkly feminine? Living in France made me really love dark colors, so I wear a lot of navy blue, black and other dark tones. My influences mostly come from Parisian style.

Your favorite Boho look?

-Wide brimmed hats, fringe and lots of flowy layers.

What are your favorite colors?

-My favorite colors are yellows, from all ends of the spectrum.

From where do you draw your inspiration?

-Mostly from other blogs, pinterest , magazines, my dreams.

What is a random thing about you we should not know?

I am a candy-holic!

what is the most expensive item you've ever spent on?

-That would have to be my Favorite jacket, it is Rachel Roy, and I actually haven't worn it in any of my looks yet, so be on the lookout ! It was about $200.

Hi, tell us more about you, the island where you live, your aims and aspiration for this year.

-Hello to everyone! I'm Beatricia but everybody calls me Becky. I'm studying in Zadar but I'm from a small town called Novalja on the island of Pag in Croatia. It's pretty much alive during the summer unlike the winter because of a famous party beach "Zrće" where big festivals, such as my favorite "Hideout festival", take place.

But back to fashion. I'm extremely passionate about fashion. I'm ambitious and I always want to push myself to limits every day. I wish for my blog to be more successful but we'll see where this will take me, I'm very positive and open minded.

Becky, you are just like a Chameleon, sometimes you are effortless chic and other times you are preppy cool.Where do you draw such inspiration and how do you manage your style?

-I draw inspiration from everywhere; people, nature, even dreams. Once the unforgettable designer McQueen said: " I got my ideas out of my dreams... If you're lucky enough to use something you see in a dream it's purely original - it's not in the world. it's in your head". This quote truly amazes me and the quote by itself is really inspiring. So yeah, inspiration is everywhere.

Is fashion an art or does it have another meaning for you?

- Yes I personally believe fashion is art. It's the way you live, the way you express yourself, the way you feel!

What is your favorite outfit you've ever worn?

Can you tell us why this choice.

-Huh, there are a lot of them! But from these captured on Lookbook, my favorite is "Fierce" because it's the most "me". It's casual, everyday outfit but also stylish and relaxed. I drove my inspiration for this look from British people particularly from their style. They dress so simply, but pull it of so well and they look astonishing which I tend to aim for

What are your favorite online shops?

-My favorite online shops are Romwe, ASOS, Yayer, Missguided, Motel Rocks, Choies, Sheinside ... haha there are a lot of them because they provide the latest trends for reasonable prizes which is always a good thing.

If i ask you your actual music playlist, can you share with us your favorites?

-My playlist is way too long. I listen to almost everything from dubstep and drum'n'bass artists, which some of them are Skrillex (whom I got to meet in person haha :D ), Skream, Chase&Status etc., to indie rock bends such as The Cooks, The Arctic Monkeys and many more. It's a mix of everything, just like my style.

How is it to live in a Sunny place, does this influence your way of dressing up?

-Oh, it's great! I love sunny days! I feel so much better because I wake up happy! But I do get jealous sometimes when I hear my friends talking about all those winter joys and white Christmas. However, sunny weather, definitely influences my way of dressing because you can use pieces of clothing from every season.

Can you share with us One of your good memories in 2012.

-One? Huh, hard one again because it was such a great year! But if I have to choose it would be when my best friend and I were photographed for the Croatian fashion magazine "Stilist". It was very spontaneous and unexpected, And it was some kind of support to keep pursuing our way of dressing and it definitely pushed me in the right way.

What's your favorite piece in your wardrobe, why?

-My favorite piece in my wardrobe is Moschino belt. It gives that "something" to the outfit. You can put it on a simple pair of jeans and white shirt and it would still look amazing. Definitely the best piece!

You've started your blog; FASHION VITAE why this name and tell us more about it!!!

-Fashion vitae - since it was dream of mine to open a blog I finally started it with the help of my best friend. It took me some time to find the right name for it; something that describes my life through fashion. So I thought that for me it's more appropriate "Fashion Vitae" than Curriculum vitae - haha!

What is your favorite brand of shoes?

-My favorite brand of shoes is Jeffrey Campbell. He's always innovative and edgy which I really like.

Can you confess with us the most expensive item you've bought.

-The most expensive item I bought is Moschino belt, but I don't regret a penny!

HI Taylor, tell us more about you, where you live, your aims and aspiration for 2013.

Hello! First, I would love to thank you, Brooklyn Grace, for giving me this opportunity. My name is Taylor Freeman, I'm eighteen years old, and I am currently living in North Carolina, attending a university as a fashion major. I come from a big family of eight people and I am the middle child [which has its ups and down]. My aims and aspirations for the upcoming year is to advance in my sense of style, become more knowledgeable of the fashion industry, and to just grow as a person all together. Nothing is more refreshing than the feeling of knowing your inner self.

What got you interested in fashion?

I would honestly have to say that my mother got me interested in fashion. I always use to watch her put together outfits and how she always knew how to coordinate which item with which piece. It seemed like it came natural to her and I wanted to try it myself, so I did. From that point on, I started making outfits come together before I eventually branched out and created my own style. I love to create simple outfits, but make them stand out with at least one statement piece. Also, style icons such as Grace Jones got me interested in the fashion world.

I've never been 100 pounds in my life.

I have more heels in my closet than flats and sneakers.

If I could meet Leonardo DiCaprio, I would probably faint.

How would you define your style.

I don't think I can actually define my style since it changes so much. One minute I can be glamorous and girly, and the next minute I can be grunge and androgynous. My style usually shifts with my personal feelings so I guess I would describe it as being all around. One big mix.

What is your favorite outfit ever?

My favorite outfit would have to be this one by Nyane Lebajoa at http://nyane-duro-nervioso.tumblr.com . The style is so grunge and makes a huge statement, from her hair all the way down to her shoes. I've always admired her style because it's so 80's and 90's grunge.

According to you what is most important in a look?

The most important things in a look to me are the shoes and the person's confidence. I say the shoes because a nice pair of heels or statement boots can make a simple outfit pop, or you can't have an amazing outfit and have a lack luster pair of shoes on. I then say confidence because anyone can rock an outfit, but not everyone can rock it well. You have to let people see that you know what you're wearing and that you're comfortable in it.

I love your hairstyle, tell us more about it.

I always wanted to do something crazy with my hair as a child, but at a young age, you're told what to do by your parents and you don't really have that much control over your self expression. So when I was finally able to make my own decisions, I decided to shave my head, both sides. Some women cherish their hair and most think that you're not beautiful if you don't have long hair, but to me...it's just hair. I was able to still feel beautiful when I shaved it all off. I added the braids to give it some flair and because I can wear it in so many unique styles. I love my hair.

Where do you shop your outfits?

99% of my outfits are all from thrift shops. I'd rather spend a lot of money on shoes than on clothes.

Do you have style icons?

Like I stated before, one of my style icons is Grace Jones along with Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Momsen. All of these ladies bring fierceness to the table and aren't afraid to express themselves through clothing. I admire it deeply.

What are your favorite pair of shoes?

My favorite pair of shoes would have to be the Jeffrey Campbell. I love how the shoe is constructed with a cut out piece at the ankle. It's not typical at all.

-I'm a 20-year-old blogger and Graphic Design student in Belgium. I was raised in Germany, but my father is Belgian and my mother is a pretty Filipina. My aims for this year is to work harder for school and become a better blogger!

Which place does fashion take in your life?

-Fashion is pretty important to me. Fashion is my way out to show others how I feel and who I am.

What are the different things that inspires you?

-Mostly other fashion bloggers, friends, movies, magazine etc.

For this year, in few words what are your resolutions?

-Drink more often water

-Blog often

-Experiment more with fashion

-Be less lazy

-Be organized

How would you define your style, is it a mixture of different influences?

-Pretty difficult to answer this. Sometimes I'm wearing a lovely chiffon skirt with some pretty cute accessories and the other day I'm all in black with some creepers and gold accessories. But I would say that it is a mixture of girly, casual and a bit of grunge.

It looks like you love accessories, what are your favorite ones?

- Definitely in love with my dainty rings, the plastic H&M ring, my lovely heart shaped watched!

What is your favorite outfit ever?

-Totally in love with this outfit and La Vagabond's style! She is so rad!

While reading your blog, one post caught my attention the Pen-pals one, can you tell us more about it?

-When I was younger, my friends and I exchanged letters to each other. Our letters were always full of lovely stories and our letters were covered with silly, pretty drawings. And through another blogger I got in touch again with writing letters. So I thought it would be great to do it again, but instead of writing them to my friends I asked my readers.

In Belgium what are the best places for shopping?

-I've only shopped at two places here in Belgium, Ghent and Antwerp. But I have to say that Antwerp is great place to shop! They have a tons of clothing stores, like the American Apparel, UO, Pull & Bear etc. which Ghent doesn't have.

-I share my love for fashion on my blog and I play the guitar for almost 6 years. Besides that I also love to sew and create clothes or jewelleries.

Can you share with us the funniest thing. happened to you?

-Last summer I went to Cagliari with some friends. There was this day, which was very windy and I was wearing my wavy polka dot dress from Forever 21. We were in the center of Cagliari and just at that moment of taking pictures, my dress went all up! It was so embarrassing! People, tourists and even birds saw my underwear! So I made a knot in my dress to prevent it for getting up again!

I actually live in Italy, but I have Finnish origins, so I think I will move in Finland when I will have finished school, 'cause I think it's a nice place to live and I really love it, more than Italy. I haven't particular aspirations for this year, I just want to concentrate on what I really like and I'd like to be more positive.

-How did you got into fashion?

Well, I always loved fashion. I remember when I was little, I used to wear my mother clothes and other stuff, so I think that fashion has always been one of my passions. At the moment I'm trying to find my real style, and I'm also on Lookbook, I really love that site! I think Lookbook it's not just a site, it's a world, where people can take inspiration and find themselves.

-Fashion takes what place into your life?

Fashion is really important for me, so it takes one of the first places in my life.

-How would you describe your style?

Uhm, good question ahah. It's not simple to describe it, but I can say that it's a mix of different styles like 80's, grunge, goth and sometimes there's something vintage. I think it reflects myself and the music I listen to.

-Which two outfits you've ever worn most describe your style? and why these choice?

This is one of my favorite outfits ever, 'cause it's very strong and it could represent the power I have inside.

The second outfit I choose : It's very girly but I think there's also a girly part of me.

-What's your biggest dream in life?

My biggest dream is to work in the world of fashion and photography, to become someone in my life. I know it could sound stupid but I'd like to be loved for who I am and for what I do. I also would like to have a super high self-esteem and feel free to do what I like, without regrets.

-How does fashion helps you in life, is it your way of expression?

Sure, it's the way I use to express what I really am and what I really have inside. I'm very shy with people I don't know so, it helps me a lot. I'm not afraid to wear what I like. It's like I have an alter-ego, who reflects my real me. It's weird, but I like to think so.

-What's your favorite film ever?

I'm in love with the film "Girl,interrupted" with Angelina Jolie. It has something beautiful, it moved me a lot.

-What kind of music do you listen?

I LOVE listening to music. I can't imagine my life without it. I listen to different kind of music like: Pop (Michael Jackson, he's one of my idols, I really love him as an artist, but as a man too) Metal (uhm.. love Metallica! they make me smile always) Grunge (JUST Nirvana, I think their music is so inspiring) uhm, what else? Rap! (Eminem, omg, he's like my god) then I like other artists like Marilyn Manson, Evanescence...

-With whom do you like to go shopping and where?

When I have to go to shopping I usually go with my friends. I go to Rome which is about 20 minutes by train or I go to local shopping centers. In summer it's different, 'cause every year I spend a part of my summer holidays in Finland, and there I really feel the need to go to shopping, especially in Helsinki, which is full of awesome shops!

-What are your favorite brands?

My favourite brand is: H&M, I can't go there without buying something. I also love Gina Tricot, Cubus, Bershka and Pull&Bear. I'd also like to buy something on ROMWE.com which is an online shop, it's gorgeous, really.

-In one word how would you describe your personality?

Hidden. I can't explain it, but many times I'm good at hiding what I really feel, and I don't know if it's a positive thing or not. But I think I'm very loyal and sincere with the people I love.

-what's your favorite accessory?

Creepers and high waist-ed shorts, I would like to wear them ever day!

-Share with us one of your fashion tips?

Well, all I can say is: don't be afraid of wear what you want to wear, don't care about what people say or think. Be original, and be yourself in every thing, fashion too.

HelLo everyone, today its with great pleasure to introduce you to Wilma Harju an extraordinary girl with her own style.Beyond her age she is full of maturity and am sure that you will enjoy this interview.

Hej tell us more about you, where you live , your aims and aspiration for this year?

My name is Wilma, I'm a 15 years old and live in sweden. I don't have so many goals for this year, just that I'll be trying to be active on lookbook again, blogging more and I'll try to draw more! I have had a break from lookbook for about two years but I'm back now! And I'm glad I am.

If i say photography what does it means for you?

Photography is one of my main interests, I love to photograph! It's a way for me to express my feelings and thoughts, it may sound a bit cliché, but that's the way it is. I may not have the best camera, or is the champion of all photographic techniques, I just photograph the way I feel. You don't have to follow any particular rules! For me, therefore, photography is endless and there is so much to explore in terms of photography, and it's so many different ways to photograph! That's why I'm so passionate about photography, both digital and analog photography.

Which season do you hate and why so?

I don't hate a season, but I dislike winter! Here in Sweden, it's super cold, snowy and just... cold! I like snow, it's cozy to be inside, drinking a cup of tea and watching the snow falling outside. But, it's NOT cozy to be outside when it's snowy and cold. That's what I think.

I like sunny days and warm weather more.

Does fashion predominates in your life or do you have other passions?

I sure do have other passions too! Photography, drawing, baking, cooking and sewing for example! I like to do creative stuff, things with my hands!

let us talk about your style,how would you define it in 4 words?

I would define my style in these four words: simple, comfortable, cozy, mixed!

What is the most important thing in your life?

The absolutely most important thing in my life is my family. I have a big family, it's me, my five siblings and my mother. My dad passed away when I was around seven years old. My family means everything to me, I wouldn't be who I am today without them.

What do you try to express through your photographs?

As I said in question number 2, I'm trying to express my feelings and thoughts. I want my pictures to be naturally and peacefully. I don't like to photograph in a studio with a white background and a model standing in front of the camera with a fake smile, I want my photographs to be like a emotionally, impressionistic picture. I don't know if other people think that about my work but I'm just doing it in my way and how I feel.

what are your two favorite outfits you've worn and why these choice?

That's a hard question. And I don't have pictures of all my outfits I've worn but if I choose between these I have pictures of, I would choose this outfit. Because I think it is simple (I like to keep it simple), the outfit was comfortable and.. i just like it! Love skirts, shirt-collars and cozy cardigans!

The other outfit I choose is that one. Because: I LOVE knitted, cozy sweaters! I also wear my favorite shoes in that outfit, my creepers.

where would you go if you had to escape from reality?

That's a good question, I often feel like I want to escape from the reality or just stop it for a while so I can exhale and be for myself. Without anyone disturbing me. I know that's impossible but when I feel that way, I'm usually going out into the forest for a walk. It's quiet and you can be alone. I think that's almost as escaping from the real world.

who do you admire in life?

I admire my mom, how she has raised six child alone, without falling apart, working and earning money to the whole family by herself and beside that, she has time to make us happy and give us love.

where do you shop your clothes?

I shop my clothes all over! Second hand stores is my favorite shops, but I like ''regular'' stores to. Like Top shop Urban outfitters, Asos.com and so on.

Are your friends into fashion?

HM... I wouldn't say that they are fashionistas and crazy about fashion but they have their own styles and know what they like and don't like.

Can you share with us one of your fashion tips?

Yeah I would, if I could! The thing is, I don't have any fashion tips! And I don't follow any trend... I'm just dress in what I like and what I think is comfortable. Well, maybe that's a tip, stick to what you like, dare to be yourself and do not be afraid to stand out!

Hey everyone today am back with guest post$ or as i usually say blog interview$. Its been quite a while that i have not done those Fashion reviews. She is a Cool, 17 years old Brazilian fashion blogger from : Gabriela Aruajo Blog & Lookbooker.

Shes loves fashion and one of her dream is to work in it one day.Her aims and aspiration for this year is to go to the university to have architecture classes and maybe to have some fashion classes in NYC.

When i say fashion what does its connotation means for you?

Its really hard to explain, but for me, fashion is not only what you wear , its FEELING, MOOD & TASTE.

What's your favorite preppy look?

If you were given $1000 what would you buy?

I certainly would buy UNIF’s stuff, that is my favorite brand ever, including a Hellbound and some shoes from Jeffrey Campbell.

Apart fashion do you have any other passion?

Architecture, movies and music, just can’t live without.

What's your favorite outfit ever?

It’s really hard but this one from Lua P have all my heart.

Do you have any favorite designer?

I’m always changing, but right now is Christeric and her boyfriend.

HOw would you define your style?

I’m a mixed of a lot of styles. I love grunge as much as I love girly style. I’m someone that can’t define my style.

What are your favorite online brands?

Unif , T.u.k , Motel , Underground and some others.

What do you think we should wear this season?

Velvet, long skirts, leather jackets and skirts, flower and chess prints. I think we should continue wearing booties and platforms.

Who are your favorite fashion blogger?

I think Olivia Harrison, she’s really amazing.

Would you classify yourself as an impulsive buyer or a reasonable one?

I’m a reasonable buyer but sometimes I act like an impulsive one.

What is the first thing you look at someone's outfit?

The first thing I look is certainly the shoes.
