If you’ve used the Wunderlist Web app recently, you might have noticed a few surprises. Hint: it involves # and it’s been one of the top three most requested features... Anyone? Yep, the ability to tag to-dos is now available via our Web app! That‘s not the only surprise we have in store for you today. There are also some shortcuts for you to play around with and a whole host of other improvements, that you may not directly see, but will no doubt experience. Care for a test-drive? Great, jump in:

#Planning just got easier

To tag to-dos, simply add a hashtag like you do on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Let’s say you’re planning a trip to NYC for Memorial Day weekend. You definitely want to go to Central Park, a friend recommends her favorite cafe, and your roommate says you can’t miss a certain play. Just add each of these to-dos to any list followed by #NYC.

From there, you’ll be able to click on the #NYC tag to filter all relevant to-dos into one list. This makes organization simple and even fun. For the moment, tagging is only available via our Web app (coming to other platforms soon) so try it out and let us know what you think by leaving a comment below!

CTRL + Shortcuts

Shortcuts speed up work by letting you view your to-dos in less clicks. So, we’ve added even more of them for easy access to your Smart Lists! The best part? You can customize these new shortcuts and even create your own under Account Settings.

It keeps getting better

We’ve also done a lot of polishing under the hood of Wunderlist for the Web. From the moment you login you’ll experience a faster, more stable app. Just take a look, even your longest lists are no trouble. See how quickly and seamlessly they appear?

Survive Finals Week with Wunderlist

Finals week is here! Chances are the library is your second home and you’re becoming immune to coffee, eeek. Now more than ever, staying organized and motivated is key. To help you stay on track, we’ve noted down some handy tips on how Wunderlist can help you breeze through the end of Spring semester. So, are you ready to ace all those finals and group projects? OK, let’s begin:

#1 Stop relying on pen and paper

Pens run out of ink. Notebooks get lost. And, most of us can’t even read our own handwriting, sigh. As your daily companion, Wunderlist solves all these issues by safely keeping your to-dos in the cloud. Available for free across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Windows and the Web, Wunderlist lets you access your tasks from absolutely anywhere. Think about it. From your laptop in class, you can create a list of all the topics that will be on the next exam. Then, refresh your memory by accessing the list on-the-go from your phone while waiting for the bus or late friends.

#2 Stop missing out

In the span of one day, you might have multiple classes, meetings with professors, and group study sessions. Adding events to your Wunderlist inbox with a “due date” of when they’re taking place is a neat trick to transform the pre-made “Today” Smart List into your daily agenda. You can also keep classmates updated on the latest going-ons by sharing lists and using the Wunderlist Activity Center (the bell icon at the top of the app) to see when to-dos have been added, edited, or checked off by friends.

#3 Stop losing research

To study for exams, we search the internet for helpful resources. We might see something online that we need to read or watch but don’t have the time just yet. The Add to Wunderlist browser extension allows you to save items to a list, automatically importing the website link so you can return later. This feature also eliminates distractions by allowing you to save those funny cat videos for later viewing, ahem, outside the library.

#4 Stop missing deadlines

Create a new list for each of the classes you’re taking. For example, one for Marketing, another for Finance, and one for Anthropology. Then, add all final to-dos in the corresponding list with a due date and reminders via your choice of push or email notifications. This way, you’ll be able to see what’s due that day and look in the Week Smart List for projects due in the next few days.

#5 Stop getting overwhelmed

Big projects can sometimes feel more intimidating than a first date. Use the Subtasks feature to meet deadlines by breaking larger goals down to more actionable tasks. For something like a 5,000 word paper, you would want to include Subtasks like (1) find resources (2) write outline (3) write first draft (4) submit first draft for review, and so on. Set a due date for extra motivation along the way.

Need even more?

Graduate to Wunderlist Pro for the ability to delegate to-dos to others (even if they’re on the free version of Wunderlist). Say you’re working on a group project, go ahead and Assign tasks like “organize the presentation deck” to one person and “edit the paper” to another. This eliminates any confusion around who was responsible for that bibliography page, while keeping everyone up to date on the group’s progress. Wunderlist gets an update too

Wunderlist Pro arrives at the same time as a major update to Wunderlist. As a free user you can also expect a host of on-going improvements, starting today with the arrival of the all-new Action Bar. Here you are provided with one-click access to email and share lists, as well as printing and one of the most requested features - sorting. Now you can easily sort by due date, alphabetically or by assignee. Want to know more, take a quick look at our tutorial video.

You can now also see the creator of to-do (in a shared list) as well as the date via the Detail View and Activity Center. With the arrival of Wunderlist 2.1 we will no longer support Mac OS X 10.6 in order to ensure a fast, reliable and high-quality experience with every new update in the future. If you’re running on OS X 10.6 you won’t be able to upgrade or receive new features, but you’ll still be able to use Wunderlist as you know it today and can get the latest features by using our Web app. Wunderlist will continue to be developed and will always remain free, now and forever.

It’s time to break out the bubbly, because Wunderlist for Android has passed a massive 1 million downloads! We’ve been rocking our happy dance in celebration and want to send out a very big Dankeschön to all of you who’ve downloaded the app. We couldn’t have reached 1 million without you!

Getting to this milestone truly warms our hearts and sends us on a trip down memory lane. Wunderlist for Android was our first ever natively built app starting back in the early Wunderlist 1 days. Since then, it’s now evolved to become what we believe is one of the most beautiful apps available on Google Play, all the while giving you the same Wunderlist experience that you love on all of your other devices.

When we were thinking of ways to celebrate our little green-robot’s 1 million downloads milestone, we couldn’t think of anything better than sharing the love and giving back to the wider Android community. As of today, we’re officially open sourcing the code behind the silky smooth transition you see when the Detail View slides in and out. Want to see how it works? Here’s a little background story from our Android team on why we built SlidingLayer:

When we started developing Wunderlist 2, our product design team came to us with this beautiful layer concept for Wunderlist’s Detail View. Since we strive to create a consistent Wunderlist experience for our users across all platforms, it was very important for us to have the Detail View behave the same way on Android than it does on iOS and the Web.

First, we tried to use existing open source code, but they just didn’t offer the behaviours and quality that we and the design team needed. So, equipped with a big pot of coffee and a few long nights, we worked on what is now SlidingLayer. After the launch of Wunderlist 2 we received a lot of email from Android developers that were interested in the techniques we used for the Detail View element. Today, we are super happy to be opening it up to the Android Community. We hope to see more and more developers getting inspired to use the component in their apps.

If you’d like to build this into your own Android app, we’ve also added some helpful extra options that you don’t see in Wunderlist’s Detail View:

Wunderlist becomes much more than a To-Do List with Add to Wunderlist

Buckle up, because your web browser is about to get a big Wunderlist boost with Add to Wunderlist. This very clever extension for your Chrome, Firefox and Safari browser allows you to save your favorite content from all over the web to Wunderlist with just one click. To make things even easier, the extension also places an Add to Wunderlist button directly on some of your favorite websites, starting with Amazon, Asos, Ebay, Etsy, Hacker News, IMDb, Twitter, Wikipedia and Youtube, as well as the most popular web email clients, Yahoo! Mail, Outlook.com and Gmail.

Click on the button and Add to Wunderlist will clip the most important information from that page – such as links, email content, prices, descriptions or average ratings right to your list of choice. What’s more, you can completely customize the information you want to save by simply highlighting the text and hitting the Add to Wunderlist button. It’s the simplest way to remember articles and websites you want to read or visit later.

A productivity boost for webmail

If your inbox is overflowing with to-dos, you can now turn any email into action by sending them to Wunderlist. All you have to do is click the Add to Wunderlist button from your Outlook.com web, Gmail, or Yahoo! Mail account. Your new to-do will arrive in your Wunderlist, where you can later add a reminder, due date and subtasks, as well as share it with a colleague.

Add it to your Wishlist

If you love to shop online (who doesn’t?!), we’ve now made it even easier. With Add to Wunderlist you can keep track of all the items you want to buy in one central location, accessible from anywhere. Think of it as your Wunderlist Wishlist. It could be a new Spring outfit from Asos, the latest best seller from Amazon, something unique from Etsy to brighten up the home or a new toy for the kids from eBay – just click on Add to Wunderlist and select your wishlist. Oh, and a quick tip, to get the gifts you really want be sure to share your wishlist with your loved ones.

Who says you can’t mix work and play?

So now that we have productivity and shopping covered, what about surfing the web for interesting news or funny cat videos? We don’t know about you guys but we are always coming across cool things in the day that we don’t necessarily get to watch or read in full length - from that Youtube video that’s been doing the email rounds or the Wikipedia page of your dream travel destination and the 2013 Oscar winning films on IMDb – Or maybe it’s an interesting Tweet or story on Hacker News that’s caught your eye that you would like to save for later. Now thanks to the integration of Add to Wunderlist we’ve got you covered.

Mail to Wunderlist - Easily create to-dos from your email inbox

Whether you’re an Inbox Zero guru or just looking for a better way to stay organized, keeping your inbox tidy just got a whole lot easier with the arrival of
Mail to Wunderlist. Whenever you get an email that’s more to-do than correspondence or something that you want to read later, you can now send it straight to Wunderlist.

Formerly known as Mail2Task, it’s now back, just with a name change and some nice new improvements. To welcome this handy feature back we have even created a quick video overview, just for you. We hope you like it!

Time to get the lowdown. Mail to Wunderlist works from the email address connected to your Wunderlist account (which you can change in the app settings). To get started, simply forward the email to me@wunderlist.com and we’ll turn it into a to-do.

What A Productive Week! – New updates for Windows, iPhone, iPad and the Web

When we launched Wunderlist 2 we promised that we would do our very best to roll out updates, new features and improvements on a faster more regular basis... Well, we have been very busy doing exactly that! Working around the clock to continually improve Wunderlist.

In the last couple of weeks alone we have launched Wunderlist on two new devices – iPad and Android tablets – YAY. While at the very same time we have been continuously working on Wunderlist providing you with ongoing updates. In fact, this week we released version 2.0.6 of Wunderlist for Windows, iPhone and iPad and version 2.0.8 for the Web! So what do the new versions include exactly?! Although, some of these updates may seem small, they will no doubt have a positive impact on your Wunderlist experience. And, we hope that these continual improvements show our ❤ and commitment to you.
