Sync your files online and across your devices using Dropbox

Have you ever came across the situation where you want to access a file on your desktop that you saved it on your laptop?
Have you ever wanted some of your files to be synchronized across multiple computers that you use?
Forget to copy your files into your usb drive while travelling?
Want to access your files from web which are on your computer at home?

Here is a solution for you. Dropbox is a software that automatically synchronizes files online and across multiple computers and devices that you use. Copy the files that you want to be accessed on different machines into your Dropbox on one computer, a copy of these files will be stored on Dropbox’s servers and they will be instantly available on any of your other computers that you’ve installed Dropbox on (Windows, Mac, Linux). Now Dropbox is also available on mobile for iPhone, iPad, Android.

I have been looking for this feature from a long time now. I want the code posted in my posts to maintain its formatting and to be syntax highlighted. I achieved this on my blogger posts using the syntaxhighlighter but on my wordpress.com blog 5thCross it was impossible. Blogger allows you to use JavaScript in your blogs while Wordpress.com doesn’t allow JavaScript due to security reasons. It was really great to show the code snippets in your posts syntax highlighted based on the language.

Finally they have added support to show code in your posts with syntax highlighting for various languages without the use of you to insert any JavaScript (internally they are using syntaxhighlighter to achieve this). Only thing that you need to do is to surround your code with the tags that are provided like

[sourcecode language=”java”]

your code goes here….

[/sourcecode]

If you happen to use Windows Live Writer like me for updating your blog, the code in the post doesn’t seem to use the syntax. So if you are posting any code in your posts you have to use the inbuilt post editor to achieve this. Otherwise your code will look like normal text in the post. Efficient blogging with Windows Live Writer

Windows Live Writer (WLW) by Microsoft is a blog editor for composing and managing blog posts for windows. You can write your posts offline and publish them later. WLW integrates with most blogging platforms (Wordpress, Typepad, Movable Type, Blogger, SharePoint blog, Windows Livespaces and others). You can see how your posts will appear in your blogs theme even when you’re offline. There are many helpful features in WLW that make creating and managing posts easier.

Inserting Screenshots – You don’t require any third party tools to insert screenshots. Just press Print-Screen and then paste that image from clipboard into WLW using Ctrl+V. You can crop, scale, rotate, add watermark and do so many things in writer itself even before publishing.
Cropping – You can crop the images even if they are pasted and can see a live preview of the image how it looks in your post.
Borders & Effects - You can add different borders and effects to your images like Drop shadow, Rounded corners, effects like Emboss, Sepia Tone etc which gives little aesthetic touches to your pictures. While these effects are no replacement for an image editing application, they’re a quick way to apply some basic effects like sepia, watermark, etc.
Auto Linking – It will help you to link to certain pages from your posts automatically. When you type the auto link words like I have configured WLW to like to its website. So whenever I type WLW it will insert the link to it.
Ping Servers – If you want search engines to pick posts as soon as you publish them you can do that by configuring the ping servers go to Tools –> Options
Inserting – You can insert pictures, maps, tables, photo albums, videos.
Live Preview – You can preview how your posts looks like in your blog theme without leaving WLW by selecting the preview button on the bottom left corner. This is very handy tool so that you can adjust your images configure fonts, colors.

Windows Live Writer Plugins – Using plug-in you can add more functionalities to WLW
- Zemanta - Zemanta lets you find images related to content that you are currently composing. (my favorite plugin). It will automatically picks images from flickr, identifies words in your posts and provides links to websites
- Flickr4Writer – Flickr4Writer is a plugin that enables you to search flickr by tags, photosets, or a photostream. After browsing you can insert the image reference into a post. A flickr account is required.
- Code Snippet – Code Snippet plugin for WLW to help format and apply syntax highlighting to source code.
- DiggThis – Adds a DiggThis button to let visitors Digg your post. You can choose your desired style and alignment in the options menu.
- Twitter Notify – Sends a tweet announcing your new post using your twitter account. A shortened link to your post is automatically generated through the TinyUrl service. If you enable twitterfeed to feed your blog to twitter then don’t use this plug-in as it might create multiple entries to your posts one form this plug-in and another from your twitterfeed.

What is swine flu?

Swine flu as it is commonly known is, a global outbreak of a new strain of influenza virus – 2009 flu pandemic, officially named the “H1N1”. It was first identified in April 2009 and commonly called “Swine flu”. It is thought to be mutation of four known strain of the influenza family of viruses, subtype H1N1: one endemic in humans, one endemic in birds, and two endemic in pigs (swine).

The outbreak began in Mexico. The virus typically spreads from coughs and sneezes or by touching contaminated surfaces and then touching the nose or mouth. TACKLING SWINE FLU: THE HOME GUIDE

Isolate affected people, minimize contact for 7-10 days
Stay at home, away from work, school and public places
Frequently wash hands with soap
Use wet cloth for cleaning, dusting
Use disinfectants for cleaning
Get plenty of sleep, be physically active
Drink plenty of fluid, eat nutritious food
Use face mask or handkerchief while coughing, sneezing

This post explains how to integrate syntaxhighlighter in your blogger blog posts. Syntaxhighlighter is fully functional code syntax highlighter for your code in your blog posts. It will nicely highlight the syntax of the language.

Either download the latest files from here and upload to your webhost or if you can't upload you can directly link to these files and use them from their hosted site.

Goto Layout tab and select Edit HTML

Backup your template in case you might want to revert back the changes. Include these lines in your template right after the head tag.
