We are the Champions is one of Queen's biggest and most recognizable hits. It peaked at #2 on the U.K. Singles charts and #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1977. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, a writer for Allmusic, wrote that the song was written with the plight of the gay community in mind, and that it became a sporting event anthem somewhat by chance. This song was the second track on Queen's 1977 News of the World album. Enjoy!

Baby, I Love Your Way is one of Peter Frampton's signature songs. The live version was the second single released from his massively popular Frampton Comes Alive! album. I graduated from the University of Alabama back in 1993. Back then, before every home game, and right before the players took the field, Sweet Home Alabama was played over the speakers in the stadium. It was an incredible feeling. Sweet Home Alabama is probably the most popular southern rock song of all-time, and the beginning guitar riff is one of kind. Enjoy!

Van Halen - You Really Got Me

Because Van Halen achieved the majority of their success during the 80's, I think most casual rock fans assume they started in the early 80's. But, Van Halen actually released their self-titled debut album in 1978. You Really Got Me was the first single they released from the album, and it's become one of the all-time greatest hard rock songs of all-time. Enjoy!

Rod Stewart - Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)

Blondie - X Offender

Wow, this is the first time I saw Blondie's video for X Offender. Debbie Harry was so young back then. She doesn't sound anything like herself in Blondie's later songs like Call Me and Heart of Glass. X Offender was Blondie's first official single from their 1976 self-titled debut album. Enjoy!

The Guess Who - American Woman

American Woman was the Guess Who's only #1 Billboard Hot 100 single. It topped the charts in 1970. American Woman has become one of the most recognizable rock songs of all-time. The Eagles - Hotel California

Hotel California by the Eagles is arguably their biggest hit. It's definitely one of the most recognizable songs of all-time. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts for one week back in 1977, and it won the Eagles a Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1978. This video is one of my favorite performances of the song. Rolling Stones - Angie

Angie was a #1 hit for the Rolling Stones back in 1973. It was included on their Goats Head Soup album. While it was widely assumed that the song was written about an alleged affair Mick Jagger had with David Bowie's wife Angela, Keith Richards said this about the origin of the song, "I'd recently had my daughter born, whose name was Angela, and the name was starting to ring around the house. 'Angie' just fitted." Whatever the origin, it's one of the best songs of the entire 70's. Enjoy!

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song (Live)

To get things started, I'm going to feature my favorite Led Zeppelin song. Immigrant Song was released as a single in the U.S. in 1970. It was the opening track on Led Zep's 1970 Led Zeppelin III album. It's one of the few songs that Led Zeppelin actually released as a single, and it's also one of the few songs the band licensed for film use.
