I’m still playing at $10NL, mostly on the weekends. I’ve noticed there aren’t as many fish as the lower levels (believe it or not there are 2 levels below $10NL). It makes sense really, the higher the level the better the players. That being said, I’m surprised by how many 2, 3 and even 4 star players (silver, gold and platinum star) I see at $10NL. Even more surprising is how many of them display the badge on their avatar. I mean it’s free information for other players. I can understand wanting to show off the achievement, but personally I’d rather keep opponents in the dark as much as possible.

I’m still treading water for the most part. The bankroll is now at $371, down a little but not much change in the last week or so. It seems whatever I make one day I lose the next, or vice versa. I’m having fun though, gaining experience, and making notes on a lot of players. It’ll all start paying off soon. I hope.

So much for a smooth and easy pregnancy. On Friday my wife was put on bed rest for a minimum 1 week before she goes in for another check-up. At which time we’ll find out if things are getting better, staying the same, or getting worse. I get the feeling no matter the results she won’t be coming off bed rest. Although I’m obviously concerned, I’m not too worried, I try not to worry about things out of my control. All I can control is how inactive I keep my wife. Ultimately I think everything will turn out fine, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of fear of the unknown.

We’re having a boy! Ultrasound pictures at 18 to 19 weeks!

It’s been about 2 weeks, but we found out we’re having a boy! Which means I have a new set of pictures to share with everyone. We got some forward facing shots that look a bit creepy (still cool though), and some hand and feet ultrasound pictures that are pretty well defined. The lack of poker posts on my blog would suggest I haven’t been playing. Well I have been playing, almost daily for the last week and at the very least a few times a week before that. Unfortunately I’ve simply been spinning my wheels so I haven’t had much exciting to report or even discuss. Almost every session I end about even (which isn’t all bad I suppose). I’m still multi-tabling $5NL (.02/.05) and to put my rut into perspective, in the last week my bankroll has been as low as $406 and as high as $418 and currently rests at $414. Boring.

Now I’ve played some $10NL in the last month and for the most part it’s gone well, so I’m thinking a move up may help break my rut. I’ve just always argued that I can play for the same stacks at $5NL as I can at $10NL (both $10 buy-ins) but the risk is less for those stacks at $5NL. Yeah, you might want to read that again, but don’t say it three times fast. I think the logic is there, but I feel like moving forward at $5NL is becoming a chore, so here is hoping $10NL allows for some traction. Check back soon for what I hope is a positive update on my travels through $10NL.

How to reset “My World” in Blackberry App Word.

If you own a Blackberry you’re probably like me- always trying out the latest and greatest free apps and themes. Well recently App World started including themes in App World, and some of the themes are free. Of course I had to try a few of them, all of which didn’t live up to my standards so I uninstalled them. Now if you’ve reached this post from a search, you’re probably annoyed with the fact that anything you install and uninstall in App World remains in “My World” (with the status Uninstalled) no matter how many times you restart or pull the battery on your Blackberry. My understanding is App World is just remembering this info for your future reference. Well it bugs the shit out of me to have all these uninstalled references to crappy apps and themes clogging up My World. Well the fix is – while in App World, hold down ALT and then type R S T. On my Blackberry Curve 8330 it took about a minute and App World closed itself. Upon entering App World again all those uninstalled apps in My World were gone! Awesome, time to celebrate and have a beer! Hope this post also helps you be less annoyed with Blackberry App World.

Haha, that never gets old. I’m easily amused though. Life is easier that way. Anyway, on to the photos.

This is my royal python (aka ball python) in the bath tub. No she isn’t dirty, but she did have a bad shed and this usually takes care of the leftovers. I used the time to clean out her cage, but I have to keep an eye on her because it’s no problem for her to get out when she decides it’s time.

Blogging is fun again with Zemanta and Apture!

We’ve come a long way since the birth of the internet. Yesterday I posted about Apture, a wonderfully easy plugin that helps add rich and interactive content to your blog posts. I’ve had one comment to that post (that wasn’t spam) and it mentioned Zemanta. I am testing out Zemanta as I write this post. The concept is similar to Apture- as Zemanta enables writers to easily enrich their content- but it is much different because it automatically offers up various content in a slick little sidebar via a browser extension (I’m using it in Google Chrome…yep…Chrome has extension support now). At this point of the post I see a Media Gallery, Related Articles In-Text Links and Tags that I could easily insert into this post. I just added a photo from the Media Gallery by dragging it to the body of this post. In the Related Articles section I just clicked an article which was added to the end of this post. Both super easy to do, and automatically recommended to me. Between Apture and Zemanta I should never have a bland post again, no matter how bland the subject.

After my initial use of the two products I have to say Apture is easily my favorite, but Zemanta certainly has it’s place in this content niche and over time I’ll have a better comparison. One thing I do know is these two products have me wanting to post something everyday just so I can easily add awesome content. It’s been a while since blogging has been more fun and less like a task.
