I wanted to share some important news regarding Vecova. As some of you may have heard, Vecova will be closing its doors to public bookings in June 2025. We understand this is disheartening, especially since Vecova has been our home for the past 20 years.

We are currently in discussions with the Squadron Sponsoring Committee to explore our options moving forward. Rest assured, there will be no immediate changes to how training is conducted for your cadets during this training year.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and support during this transition.

We hope everyone had a fantastic summer, whether you spent it diving into summer training or enjoyed some well-deserved relaxation with family and friends. As we gear up for a new season, we’re excited to reconnect and get back into the swing of things.

For Returning Cadets: We’re looking forward to seeing you at our first meeting of the season. Join us on Monday, September 9th, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The meeting will take place in the boardroom at Brentwood Coop. The address is 4122 Brentwood Rd NW, Calgary, AB T2L 1K8. This will be a great opportunity to catch up, review plans for the upcoming year, and discuss any updates or changes. Please bring your parent/guardian with you to sign your paperwork. 

For Level 5 cadets: There will also be a meeting for you to attend with our training department at the same location from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. Dress will be in proper civilian attire. 

For New Recruits: Welcome aboard! Your introductory meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We’ll be meeting at Vecova, Studio 2. If you haven’t filled out your application yet, you can do so online by visiting this link. Be sure to search for 781 ‘McCall Field’ to find our program. During this session, we’ll go over essential paperwork and provide you with an overview of what to expect.

We’re thrilled to kick off another exciting year with all of you. Whether you’re returning or just starting, we’re eager to see your enthusiasm and dedication. Let’s make this a great year together!

This is a supported Area Directed Activity (planned by one unit for all units in the area)

WHAT:The general format for this event (with the exception of the Airdrie location) is that we will divide the cadets for the event that day into a team of 10-25 cadets as a cross section of all units participating ideally by level and they will rotate through a number of stations to include drill (appropriate for their level), , and sports tabloid stations.  We are aiming to have a confirmation activity at the end of the day for a drill competition based on what they have learned earlier in the day.

THERE IS NO LONGER A  UNIFORM ELEMENT TO THIS ACTIVITY.  Please consider attending.

WHEN: Saturday OR Sunday February 3/4    0900h to 1600h  (Indicate on the form)

WHERE: Al Azhar Shriners Building   5225 101 St NW   Calgary AB T3L 1S4

WHAT TO BRING: 

• appropriate CIVILIAN ATTIRE for both sports and drill. 
• Water Bottle
• indoor sneakers
• medical items as required

WHAT TO WEAR:  CIVVIES you can do sports in (indoor sneakers as above)

MEAL (Lunch) PROVIDED:  BUT – you know the drill already.. likely SUBWAY and you must indicate on the form what you need,  if we cannot – THEN BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH.
