On the City of Valdosta Georgia website under Boards of Commissions I did see copy of the Janurary 10, 2013 minutes of the Fair Housing Committe Meeting. But have concerns about what you informed me via phone conversation that Fair Housing Committee Meetings minutes will not be posted but every two months.

It is March 2013 I feel this is an effort by the City of Valdosta, Georgia leadership to continue to keep the Environmental Justice Community Development Block Grant low-income high poverty high crime communities of color , Environmental Justice Advocates, CDBG Advocates , Public Housing Residents and others not present on the Fair Housing Committee present board left out and behind instead being informed without delay.

The City of Valdosta Fair Housing Committee does not have enough Environmental Justice Advocates, Community Advocates, Minority Contractors and Other Minorities on the Fair Housing Committee who views that are different from some of the City of Valdosta hand picked members presently serving on the HUD Fair Housing Committee.

This is effort by the City of Valdosta to keep them that are "TEAM PLAYERS" .... MEANING CITIZENS THAT WILL GO ALONG WITH THE WAY THE HIGH UP CITY OF VALDOSTA LEADERSHIP ... TOP DOWN APPROACH TO DECIDE THE WAY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SHOULD RUN HERE...... INSTEAD OF BOTTOM UP APPROACH TO OBTAIN INPUT AND HAVING LOW-INCOME HIGH POVERTY RESIDENTS , COMMUNITY ADVOCATES AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE ADVOCATES AND PUBLIC HOUSING RESIDENT AT ... THE POLICY TABLE.

Community Planning Development HUD Region 4 Director Mary Presely Office is not obtaining a true bottom-up approach input from ... all low -income residents, area and income based residents, African-American Protected Classes Other Minorities, and Environmental Justice Communities here from the efforts of the higher up leadership the Untouchables... desire to run Community Development here and knows what is best .... meaning low-income area and income based residents input is not need and surely not wanted..... and City of Valdosta Leadership does not have any low- income Public Housing Residents, Environmnetal Justice Advocates and Community Advocates with seat at the policy table.

If your not at the City of Valdosta policy table you will end up on the City of Valdosta Menu.

Valdosta Community Leaders made appeal before the “VALDOSTA CITY SCHOOL BOARD of EDUCATION. And the following was addressed and the United States Justice Department was fully aware of the following information.

However nearly 50 years the Justice Department have done little to nothing to bring Valdosta-Lowndes County up to the 21st Century of inclusion.

This is nothing new for----back in 2009 It was highlighted to Elected Officials:

1. That the City School Superintendent was ----WHITE.

2. The Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning---- was WHITE.

3. The Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations-----was WHITE.

4. The Curriculum Director for grades Pre-K-5------was WHITE.

5. The Curriculum Director for grades 6-12-----was WHITE.

6. The Director of Special Education----was WHITE.

7. The Head of Human Resources----was WHITE.

8. The Director of Personnel----was WHITE.

9. The Administrative Secretary----was WHITE

10. The Director of Title 1----- was WHITE

11. The Director of Title 11 and The Director of Title 111 is WHITE.

12. The Director of Instructional Technology is WHITE

13. The Director of Nutrition is WHITE

14. The Director of School Social Services is WHITE

15. The Director of student Information is WHITE.

16. The principal of the Valdosta High school----was WHITE.

17. The head football coach was WHITE.

18. The names of all schools that bear somebody’s name except one--- was WHITE.

19. The receptionist was WHITE

20. The Juvenile court judge----was WHITE.

21. Blacks had no input in the selection PROCESS of the Juvenile judge---that was White.

22. Five out of 9 school board members------was WHITE

23. But 80 percent of the students----was Black.

24. The question concerning district lines have been (apparently) gerrymandered

25. To insure that whites would always control the education of------black children)

26. With every position of authority, perceived and real was occupied----- by Whites.

27. In a school district that is approximately 80 percent-----Black.

IN CONCLUSION: It seems that the old 1860 Valdosta City Charter Mentality is alive and well in 2013.

In 2004 it was reluctantly removed from City Hall that lead into Judge Edwards Municipal Court Room.

It read as follows: In Article 100, Section XI:

“THAT THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL SHALL PASS ALL PROPER AND NECESSARY LAWS AND ORDINANCES FOR THE CONTROL OF SLAVES AND FREE PERSONS OF COLOR IN SAID TOWN AND SUPPRESS AND ABATE ALL NUISANCES ARRIVING FROM HOGS, DOGS, HORSES, OR OTHER STOCK STRAYING AT LARGE IN VALDOSTA.”

Citizens Comments:   I thought you might appreciate a little eyewitness commentary about the Political Forum hosted by The 30 Club (president JD Rice). This forum was outstanding for its professionalism and the way the moderator and panelists kept the participants on task, keeping responses brief and to the point so that everyone could be heard from.

Mrs. Ruth Council was an excellent moderator. Members of The 30 Club acted as event facilitators: timekeeper, runners, organizers. 2 young women with positions in television at VSU were the panelists who asked the questions (Lee Henderson was originally slated to participate in this role but was unable to attend due to illness).

I believe this is the 3rd forum that these 3 elected officials have not attended. I think I saw WCTV and WALB? recording the event, and GEORGE BOSTON RHYNES recorded it and will be posting on his KVCI blogspot.

Democratic challengers: Bikram Mohanty, JC Cunningham, Teresa Lawrence------ answered questions professionally and with quite a bit of well-rounded knowledge and creative ideas for bringing jobs into our area.   When asked what were the differences between themselves and their opponents, JC Cunningham answered "Loyalty" right off the bat. (reference to the fact that the 3 Republican incumbents switched from Democrat to Republican party 2 weeks after they were elected, unopposed).

Dexter Sharper and Glenn Gregory both had professional descriptions of why they should be our next state representative in the Georgia legislature. It was good to see these 2 men interact with each other, it was obvious that they are both genuinely friendly with each other. District #177 is a newly created district that comprises 90% of Valdosta.
The majority of questions went to Sheriff Chris Prine and his challenger, JD Yeager. Sheriff Prine came across as honest, caring, and sincere. He described the new jail facility and the ongoing process of renovating/rehabbing the old jail. Yeager basically said the old jail was not fit for human habitation (I wish he had stated that publicly when he was the second in command there under Sheriff Paulk).

I thought it was strange when Yeager said that he himself "designed the new jail". He made several statements that Sheriff Prine said were untrue. Yeager said that he wants to be sheriff so that he can return the Sheriff's office to the way it used to be. And he claimed that he would hire people so that there would be true diversity in the sheriff's office and jail employment force.

Yeager was second in command under Sheriff Ashley Paulk. During Paulk's administration, the Lowndes jail had the highest suspicious death rate of any jail in Georgia. When Al Parsons used to publish the Lake Park Post, there were officers that worked for Paulk and Yeager who were excessively brutal. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3930808120854021155

Particularly after I and 14 others were arrested during the Citizens to Be Heard portion of the City Council meeting and we spent 26 hours in the jail. I believe I was in the old jail, and it was definitely a human rights abomination. We were denied telephone calls. Yeager said "that's because you didn't ask for them."
He called into the Scott James radio show when I was on it describing our experience in the jail. I was locked behind a solid metal door, no bars, no way to contact guards, so how was I supposed to ask for a telephone call?   It was only the next morning when food was brought in and we were released from our enclosed cells that we were able to request phone calls.

I'll be glad to talk to anyone personally who might want more information on JD Yeager or Chris Prine.

Others who attended included both County Commission chair candidates, Bill Slaughter and Gretchen Quarterman. And superdistrict candidates DeMarcus Marshall and John Gates. They were asked several questions about bringing economic opportunity to Lowndes and how the SPLOST money is allocated.

This was the first political forum hosted by The 30 Club. The members did an outstanding job! I hope this will become a regular event in our community. Both NAACP and SCLC participated in supporting roles, and of course SCLC President Floyd Rose graciously allowed us to have the event at Serenity.

***** What I was mainly disappointed with (besides the 3 Republican incumbents not showing up) was that we didn't have more black ministers in attendance. Our community really needs to come together when we ask political candidates to respond to our issues and concerns. The church was approximately 75% full. It would have been a grand slam if we had packed the house.

1. On January 12, 2011, the Valdosta Daily Times “Editor Kay Harris Headlines” covering the Brooks County Board of Education Meeting read; “Brooks suspects new school resident.” (This heading is now being published THROUGHOUT the web)

2. It seems that our local media has a vested interest in keeping citizens ignorant. This apparent pattern and practice has kept citizen ignorant for decades; perhaps for the purpose of mind control. Moreover it carries the possibility of influencing the outcome of court cases in the Southern Judicial Circuit by omissions of important information from public meetings. I believe all citizens have a right to know what is happening in their beloved community.

3. There were an overflow crowd of SEVENTY-SEVEN people. However, the South Georgia News Media “FAILED” to report the beef of the information from this Monthly Board Meeting and Election. Therefore this lack of news coverage raises IMPORTANT questions in the eyes of the general public----such as:

Why was the newly elected President Nancy Dennard questions ignored by the PRESS? That concerned a stated LOST or SECRET banking account surrounding $104,000 dollars, and should not citizens have a right to know?

Was this not published to the general public? And why did South Georgia Television, News Papers, Radio and Elected Officials fail to inform the general public of what took place at a public meeting in the State of Georgia?

Why local and state television, newspapers, and radio reporters were not present at this most important Board Meeting? And is it a good practice for elected officials not to take a group photo following an election by a News Paper Reporter as was the case when White Elected Officials walked away---and witnessed by citizens?

Why news media did not reported that White Board Members refused to take a group picture?

What value was it to have headlines in the Metro City following an election that read; “SUSPECT

Why did local News Media; NOT published that the votes for President and Vice President were down RACIAL LINES? That is Whites voted for Whites; and Blacks voted for Blacks.
Why do the Times Editor, Publisher, and Reporter Kara Ramos keep publishing the names, pictures, charges, etc., of the Quitman Ten? But frequently and repeatedly ignores the real issues and are not as fair as they could be in covering the Brooks County alleged absentee voter fraud problem?
For what purpose did the South Georgia News Media IGNORE the real business that was conducted on the Board Meeting Agenda---but ignored by the press?

The Times article was covering the Board Meeting was just as bad as their covering of the January 1, 2011 Protest March wherein the real information from the meeting was TOTALLY IGNORED. Why?

We the people must ask how a small town like Quitman do a far better job of covering the January 1, 2011 Protest March with over 300 citizens---than a Georgia Metro City (Valdosta)? One should review both the Valdosta Daily Times coverage of the event. Then review the Quitman Free Press Story?

Is it possible that local news media outlets are taking their example from the old Valdosta 1860 Charter mentality; which was reluctantly removed in early 2004? But is now being instituted upon all citizens of good will here in South Georgia? That is to suppress, control and abate all citizens’ actions who think outside of the box of ignorance?

Have you ever read the content of that charter?

Why does the Times Editor keep highlighting that the White Brooks County Board of Education candidates were leading in the election count-----until the absentee ballots were counted?

Are not absentee ballots cast a part of the voting process; and that the election cannot be decided; until all voters votes has been counted? Then why keep repeating this information in the press except maybe to mislead the general public?

Why have not the local news media QUESTIONED in-depth the JUDGE’s decision to allow the White candidates to run twice in the same election in Brooks County Election?

Have local news media investigated or reported on Brooks County Voters complaints of alleged intimidation by the GBI? Especially about the agent that was allegedly driving through the Black community in a white pick-up truck? In addition, have anyone took a count of the number of citizens that refused to RETURN to the polls because of this alleged voter intimidation?

How many of the three or four hundred people that were investigated or visited by the GBI; were investigated by local news media or any other outside agency? If not, then who will listen to the American Voters that allegedly selected to be investigated?

Moreover if local citizens can allegedly be disenfranchised without any recourse from law enforcement agencies, elected officials, and the Southern Judicial System. Then how can the Quitman Ten expect to receive justice here in South Georgia under the law?

How can citizens trust district Attorney David Miller to call for an investigation into the alleged voter fraud in Brooks County; but has not called for an investigation of the thirty or more jail deaths in the Valdosta and Lowndes County Jail---dating back to 1994? If valuable information is IGNORED at public meetings in the State of Georgia. Then how can the HISTORICAL ARCHIEVAL RECORDS be correctly maintained for future generations? And can we count on it to be accurate? I think not!

Was the White candidates investigated by the GBI? (Mr. Gary Rentz and Ms Myra Exum)

Did the White candidates receive votes through absentee ballots? If so was they too investigated by the GBI? What was the GBI findings on them; in comparison to the Quitman Tem?

Why has news media failed to publish what is listed on back of the Georgia Application Request for Absentee Ballot? And that any voter can cast an application for absentee ballot and that is legal to do so.

Was there also a spike in absentee ballots cast for the Quitman Ten and Mr. Gary Rentz along with Ms Myra Exum? Then should not this issue also be addressed in the public?

Why is it that some whites have stated publicly that some Whites has a problem with Blacks dominating the Brooks County Board of Education? Have Whites always dominated the Brooks County School Board of Education?

Have the SOUTH GEORGIA PRESS asked any of the Quitman Ten. Why did they fail to ask the Secretary of State Office, Georgia Attorney General, Brooks County Election Office or the United States Department of Justice on proper elections procedures? If not why not?

4. We the people must always ask questions in order to insure our Republic is maintained as was set forth by the founding fathers and mothers of our beloved nation. God bless all Americans and beyond.

Ms Hellen Butler Response: Hellen Butler and I am working for Dr. Joseph Lowery and the Coalition For the Peoples Agenda.

Interviewer Question: So is all this stuff people are saying about President Obama just a waste of time? So apparently, we know what we need to do and what he is going to do correct? So are we going to support him simply because he is one of the best Presidents so far. What say you?

Ms Hellen Butler Response: I must say yes! He is and He is the most intelligent. He is a professional. Again, the president is just the COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF and the people who make the laws are your congress people. So if the laws that are not in place, are not put there by your congress people. Then he cannot do anything by himself.

It takes all of us working together the Judicial System, the Executive Branch and the Congressional Legislature. That’s three branches of government if you go back to your Civics Lessons and the all have to be working in concert.

Interviewer Question: So once again what is going on next weekend? We want to call the roll.

Ms Hellen Butler Response: Next weekend we are having a State Wide Rally and I don’t mean just in Quitman but I mean every Black Citizen in Quitman. And every forward thinking person in Quitman, Georgia is going to be there in Macon, Georgia for a State Wide Rally. Where we are bringing all of the Civil Rights Groups together to highlight this injustice that has been done to the Quitman Ten.

And again its up to the Board of Education and remember education is knowledge and the more knowledge you have the more you can do and the people can’t take advantage of you. So if there are people that you elected to represent your interest on the Board of Education. You need to support them because they are going to make sure that the curriculums are there to take care of our history. The curriculum are there to insure that our children can compete globally not just in the United States but globally. So we are saying to Quitman Georgia come out, support the Quitman Ten in Macon on next Saturday May 14, 2011. Because we will be there and we want to see you there.

Ms Hellen Butler Response: Then back on Juneteenth! Now you know what June Teenth represent well make sure that you stand up for your history. Make sure that you represent. So we want you back here on June 18^th to support the Quitman Ten.

Ms Hellen Butler Response: Yes! I want to ask you. Are you making sure that you are face booking, are you twittering and are you blogging? So that you can get those young people mobilized and can we get the message out to every facet. That people need to be engaged, and can you get the ministers and get them on record and say that they support the Quitman Ten.

Quitman, Hahira and all around just google Quitman Ten and you see what I have been doing. I can go way back and I only mentioned the lynching of Mary Turner. But I have also been down to Rosewood Florida with the famous Marvin Dunn along with John Robinson of Valdosta. Professor Marvin Dunn purchased five acres of land where the railroad tracks were. We went down there and installed a bridge as we work down there along with people that are coming together with the universities in Florida. We have more work down there coming up down there too.

The famous Martin Dunn down in Rosewood and we are also working with the SCLC, NAACP, Black Business Group including people from Valdosta State University Dr. Noll and anyone else that will step forward.

My beautiful brother John Quarter man. I ask you to google John Quarterman on the lakefront. His blog is sweeping. For too long down here in South Georgia we have not had access to a real news media.

Now since they refused to report; we are (now) taking it into our own hands and doing our own interviews. We are posting our own videos on the web and we are going to force them to do what they are suppose to do or they will be closed. Then we will eventually start or own television, newspaper and radio stations.

Where are our Civil and Human Rights Organizations on this issue? Is it because our civil and human rights organizations have received too much money from large companies that their hands are tired. Therefore, workers are left to fight and defend for themselves unlike when Rev. Martin L. King Jr., was alive and refused to be bought and sold.

We must not leave Wal-Mart Workers alone in times like these. Therefore, I appeal to all civil and human rights organizations along with the religious community to take a strong stand with the workers at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., for real change even if our leaders are quiet. As a retired military veteran I cannot allow these people to continue to be ignored and suffer in times like these. God Bless both the righteous and the not so righteous!

Bentonville, Arkansas on October 12, 2011 only to be ignored again by Wal-Mart Executives! Now where are our Civil and Human Rights Organizations on behalf of American Workers? And where would Rev. Martin L. King Jr. be on this issue? Is this a prank or something else? A local TV Stations did their story and you need to check out their news link to see what local citizens said! I am a retired military veteran and I am not offended by what certain people carries around in their hearts. So we must be informed about others that have agenda's that remains in the secret hearts of certain people in every community of our world. GBR

The above picture and the link below started much controversy in Title Town USA. Moreover, we must understand that Valdosta is Home of Moody Air Force Base, Wiregrass Technical College, Wild Adventure Theme Park, Valdosta State University, Home of the Marching Wild Cats and Lowndes County Vikings.

So whats going on here? And can this be connected to the 30 jail deaths that has occurred in the Valdosta-Lowndes County Jail since 1994-2009. Is this why public officials has failed to address the many complaints brought to them during public meetings but are given the excuse that the Sheriffs Department is an agency that no body has control over and they that the sheriffs department has the power to do as it pleases; without having to answer or respond to Georgia Open Records Act.

Moreover, the general public does not know how many deaths has taken place because the Valdosta-Lowndes County Jail is not subject to the Georgia Open Records Act to inform the general public about just how many jail deaths has occurred in the jail.

Just a week ago I was ordered out of the Lowndes County Jail along with a mother who only wanted to see if her son were already after being involved in a fight in the jail. This is a real world situation and we must ask questions under our form of government.

Congressional Aid and Staffer Michael F. Bryant had a gun pulled on him August 18, 2011) with little to no real news media coverage here in South Georgia. The story was reported by a local citizen and it took sixteen days for local professional news media to report the story and this has proven to be a pattern and practice that has existed for too long in our beloved community of good people.
