90's Kid's Rejoice!

105th (Hello, hello)

2015-02-26T16:37:00.000-08:00

Hello, hello!

I felt like Snorlax would be the most appropriate way to start this post because yes....I've been in a mythical hibernation from all of you for far too long & for that I am sorry!!!!

The unfortunate truth is that in this ever growing modern age, where things are so instant & fast paced, even 90's kids gotta grow up or get trampled with the times.

Don't fret darlings, I've gathered some great 90's gems along the way and will be sharing them with you as much as they come to mind.

For I, just like most of you, still long for the great memories of the 90s.

NEW Powerpuff Girl EPISODES !!!

2013-02-08T02:46:00.002-08:00

Apparent leaked image of the new revamped Powerpuff Girls. Buttercup visually more feisty than ever!

3 BAD BITCHES ARE BACK!!!

All is well in the world now that we have the soon to be return of Towns-ville's 3 baddest bitches: Blossom, Bubbles, & Buttercup!

A staple in 90's nostalgia culture, for the generation that was made of sugar & spice, the announce brings excitement to the 90's kids who loved the hit Cartoon Network show, which embraced feminism & the running theme of GIRL POWER which occurred throughout the 90's and early 2000's.

However, this time our beloved trio won't just be taking on the villians of Towns-ville, but the entire world! (let's get those damn North Koreans already hahaha JK)AND....THE ORIGINAL VOICES WILL BE RETURNING! So at least they're not messing up with the original formula, the only new added addition we know of so far is the music of Ringo Starr...

Hopefully this won't be like the revamped version of Beavis & Butthead that only lasted 1 season after losing it's steam eventually viewer wise. Here is the official statement from Cartoon Network:

The Powerpuff Girls Special: "Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice...plus a dash of mysterious Chemical X" were the essential ingredients that created Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup-also known as The Powerpuff Girls. This groundbreaking and Emmy®-winning series, created by Craig McCracken, ran on Cartoon Network from 1998-2005 and will soar again as a brand-new, redesigned and re-imagined CG special coming in 2013 where the trio of pint-sized super heroines will be called upon to rescue not just the city of Townsville, but the USA and the world! Featuring an original song "I Wish I Was A Powerpuff Girl" performed by Beatles legend Ringo Starr, who also portrays Townsville's most famous flamboyant mathematician, "Fibonacci Sequins," this all-new original special comes from a powerhouse creative team featuring animation talent from around the globe including acclaimed director Dave Smith and award-winning art director Kevin Dart and is produced by Cartoon Network Studios in association with UK's Passion Pictures. The special also features the original voice cast reprising their iconic roles and will premiere later this year.

OH NO, Hocus Pocus 2 WITHOUT Original Cast?!?!

2012-07-07T08:19:00.001-07:00

The news broke recently that Disney may be quietly developing a sequel to the 1993 Halloween cult classic titled, Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch.

At first I was super stoked to think we'd be seeing Bette Midler & Sarah Jessica Parker (I didn't forget the chubby one either!) hop on their broomsticks one last time, however I don't think that will be the case :( :(
Rumor has it that they'll be casting an entirely new set of people. The only thing I'm excited for is the possibility that Disney could decided to film it where I live, they've filmed quite a few movies in New Mexico in recent years, and I definitely think we have the backdrop for that sorta movie.

Any who movie buffs, thought I'd share & would love your opinion on all of this?! Are you excited or tired of Hollywood's constant remaking of classic movies that shouldn't be re-made in the first place?!

ALL GROWN UP: All That's Josh Server

2012-07-07T07:29:00.001-07:00

Some say age is just a number, some say to act your age & not your shoe size. Some of us age gracefully & get better with time, like a fine wine or cheese ;) ahaha While some of us fade into the background, into obscurity.

The point I'm getting at, is that for 33, Josh Server has aged wonderfully into a very handsome grown man. His baby face that we all grew up watching has disappeared, however we now get a more sophisticated Josh than before :)

Here's some pictures from Josh's most recent photoshoot & you can follow him on twitter @Josh_Server

What do you think, better before or now?!

1 Earth Year Later...

2012-07-07T00:19:00.000-07:00

It's been exactly one year since I started this blog & even though I've strayed away from being able to update it consistently, my web traffic has not decreased & for that I'm truly grateful to anyone who has taken the time to read my posts, and to those who have left comments ;) I will be trying to refresh my blog with all kinds of 90's goodness soon, for I still have a huge passion for 90's nostalgia & everything 90's.Lately I've found myself watching TONS of old 90's commercials & basking in the memories :) I also find that there's a tremendous amount of 90's television on TV right now & I'm definitely loving it! (that is for us fortunate enough to have cable ;)Any who, thought I'd catch up with all of you! I'm currently filming a Disney movie!! You know the one with Johnny Depp?! I'm sure you know the name *drumroll* The Lone Ranger!!! Woo!! Besides filming in the hot desert with tons of layers of authentic 1800's clothing all summer, I've also been working on signing with an agency, finishing my album, and collaborating with a bunch of fabulous photograhers for my portfolio!! I'll be turning 22 this year, so this is the year I prove to myself & the world that I have the chops to bring home the bacon baby!!! KICK ASS CAPTAIN PLANET STYLE!!! Ahahaha

God Bless you, where in this world you are ;)

XOXO,

Destin

2011: The Year of Nostalgia

2012-01-16T04:45:00.000-08:00

"If every generation has a moment where they adopt a rose-colored perspective of the people and pop culture of its past, the 20-somethings had their turn in 2011." -CNN

Those who came of age in the '80s and '90s now span the demographic that's exiting college or creeping into their 30s. As they do so, various cultural outlets are recreating or referencing the TV shows, movies, fashion and music on which they were raised.
This year, we were reacquainted with the staccato giggles of the animated "Beavis and Butt-Head," which returned to MTV after originally appearing on the network from 1993 to 1997. And then, in perhaps the biggest TV flashback, was TeenNick 's weekly late-night block of programming, "The '90s Are All That."

At the box office, 1994's "The Lion King" was re-released in 3-D in September, and we can now expect 1991's "Beauty and the Beast" and 1989's "The Little Mermaid" to be theatrically re-released in 3-D as well.
It's the same deal with James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster "Titanic," which will also be back in theaters in 3-D in the spring. Not to mention "The Muppets" being dusted off for another theatrical jaunt this year, courtesy of "How I Met Your Mother" star Jason Segel (a series that thrives on the theme of nostalgia and looking back).
This year was kind to the musicians of the '90s, as NKOTBSB -- the supergroup made up of New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys -- pulled in $40 million with their tour, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
And if that wasn't enough, the very depiction of '90s whimsy, Lisa Frank, has added clothing to its swath of school supplies. Of course, they'd be remiss to not have adult sizes.
It seems that while the kids have grown up, a lot of the culture that surrounds them hasn't.

I AM ALIVE, SINCERELY APOLOGIZE..

2011-12-03T00:54:00.001-08:00

I sincerely apologize to all my fellow 90's kids for the lack of updates in months. I don't currently have a stable internet connection, and I've still been working on finishing up my debut album, "Chameleon." as well as many other things!
I realize a lot has changed in 90's Nostalgia-Land, and I'm aware of Nickelodeon's now sporadic line up, however I haven't had a chance to really catch up on it. I have watched the new Beavis & Butthead though & I'll be sure to post my opinions on it very soon! Thank you to all my readers that continue to support my blog! Hope you all had a wonderfully FAT thanksgiving :)
I look forward to posting a lot more often in the future.

Are You Afraid of The Dark/Aaahh!!! Real Monsters ALL OCTOBER?!

2011-09-17T14:42:00.000-07:00

Wouldn't it be fitting if starting October 7th, if Nickelodeon gave us the option to VOTE for ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK/Aaahh!!! Real Monsters every week of October?!

As of now Nickelodeon has been very vague about the shows we'll be able to vote for during "UPick With Stick", but if anyone at Nickelodeon has any kind of sense whatsoever they'll realize what a great idea this is & seize the opportunity to make us 90's kids happy tricker treaters!

Of course it'll still be up to us to VOTE for the shows we wanna see, but their in charge of the content that's up for voting so let's keep our fingers crossed someone at Nickelodeon gets wind of this!

If you are unfamiliar with what UPick with Stick is, click here to find out!

Tommy Pickles & Buttercup SAME VOICE?!?!

2011-09-17T14:05:00.000-07:00

This is the voice actor that played the voice of not only Nickelodeon's Tommy Pickles on the Rugrats, but she also voiced Buttercup of Cartoon Networks, The Powerpuff Girls!

Isn't it crazy how some of our favorite characters are voiced by the same person?! Was this something you kinda already thought, and do you think it takes talent to voice cartoons?!

Joe RUINED Blue's Clues, Just Like Jamie Lynn Spears RUINED All That

2011-09-17T13:34:00.000-07:00

In a previous post I clarified that Steve Burns, AKA Steve from Blue's Clues is ALIVE & WELL. As most of you 90's kids know, on the show Steve went to "college" and his "cousin" Joe took over the show. EPIC FAIL, right?!
In real life, Steve Burns went on to a pursue a "music career" & well I haven't heard his music, but I think it's safe to say it probably isn't as cool as he was on the show!
After JOE took over the show didn't last another 6 years, and didn't continue to be hugely popular like it was when Steve was on & ultimately came to it's demise. However, we can't place all the blame on poor old Joe, because Steve did leave on his own terms. I imagine it'd be a tough to fill the shoes of someone so well received & liked.
Even though your sister was literally the coolest person on the planet in the 90's, that doesn't necessarily mean your meant to be a star too...Jamie Lynn!
Jamie Lynn Spears only got hired for "All That" because of who her sister is, because it DEFINITELY wasn't for those acting chops of hers!
She came onto the "All That" scene in the 8th season, when the show was basically a watered down version of what it use to be. If Nickelodeon thought she would breath life into the show, they definitely thought wrong!
FOR WHATEVER REASON, she was able to land her own show after All That wrapped, called "HOEY 101" whoops I mean "ZOEY 101"
Which made shows like iCarly seem like some kind of artistic masterpiece.
Proving that you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl, Jamie Lynn got knocked up at the age of 16! Ultimately ending Hoey 101 & Jamie Lynn's acting career for good!

Nickelodeon Confirms Rocko was Originally Golden Yellow?!?!

2011-09-16T21:39:00.000-07:00

The Original Rocko

(Why does Rocko look so angry?!)

Earlier today on the official 90's are all that facebook, Nickelodeon posted on their wall that our beloved Aussie wallaby trying to make it in the modern world was originally gonna be golden yellow!

The Rocko We All Know & Love

I'm glad they ditched the golden yellow concept, and made him the way we all know & love him!

Josh Server SHOULD of Been the NEXT JIM CAREY!!!

2011-09-15T22:57:00.000-07:00

Jim Carey NEVER looked this good, that's FOR SURE. Josh Server from the show "All That" captured the hearts of girls (and even some boys aha) in the 90's, and it's safe to say he's still melting hearts today!

According to Josh Server's IMDb page his career peaked with "All That" & the movie, "Good Burger" He's also guest appeared on various Nickelodeon shows such as Kenan & Kel, The Secret World of Alex Max, the wannabe Kenan & Kel..DRAKE & JOSH, and most recently played a "speedy delivery guy" on the awful Nickelodeon show, Neds Declassified School Survival Guide.

I know Hollywood's a tough place to make it, but his fellow cast mates Amanda Bynes & Kenan Thompson have been able to get respectable work since their Nickelodeon days.
I don't see why Josh couldn't/can't because he's way more talented then both of them! He definitely showed his acting chops in all the different characters he played on "All That", from my personal favorite TANDY, or the male version of Kesha FLEM!!!

It's pretty clear from the posts on the official 90's are all that facebook that Josh is still very popular with the ladies, and 90's nostalgia fans alike. Maybe with the recent resurgence of everything 90's, he'll be able to get more work! I believe that if given the right opportunity he could still have a great comedic career in television & movies.

Subliminal Messages in Our 90's Cartoons: Rugrats, PRO FEMINIST FAMILIES?!?!

2011-09-15T21:51:00.000-07:00

Rugrats is pro feminist families...HERE IS THE PROOF:

Mrs. Pickles is the educated breadwinner, Stu often chasing his less profitable dreams
Phil & Lil’s mom Betty DeVille, obvs (short hair, female symbol sweatshirt, clear second waver, OBVIOUS LESBIAN)
Charlotte, ballbusting CEO who wants Angelica to have an edge in a male-privileged world
Suzie’s family, upper-middle class black family with a really accomplished mom
Chaz, sensitive single dad who childrears and has rejected traditional masculinity

Pretty obvious, right? Although, there is NOTHING wrong with women running the household! Whatever works best for the family, in my opinion ;) I just found this rather interesting! I wonder if it was done intentionally! Hmm :)

Sticky Stickly & Moose a. Moose SAME VOICE?!?!

2011-09-14T19:34:00.000-07:00

Yes, you read correctly! Stick Stickly & Moose a. Moose are actually voiced by the same person! You can kinda tell just by listening to both of them closely! Looks like this guy has been working with Nickelodeon for quite some time!

All That Characters That STILL SCARE ME!!!

2011-09-14T10:28:00.000-07:00

Characters That...

STILL SCARE ME!!!

Basically I LOVE me some All That, but I STILL get SCARED by some the characters played on the show! (insert ROFLMAO here.)

I'm writing this post in hopes that I'm not the only one! ahaha.

Whenever Katrina plays MR. PEROT, I almost always forget she's in character or a woman! IT ALMOST ~~SCARES~~ ME!

I don't know it's the southern accent or that honker of a nose, or if she's just a really good actress, but these skits always give me the chills!

EAR BOY & Pizza Face

Just the other day, I was in a Halloween shop & I saw these GIANT EARS & I immediately was like "WHY WOULD ANYONE MAKE THESE, OR WEAR THEM EWW?!"

My friend replied, "MAYBE FOR AN ELF COSTUME?"

Which in hindsight makes sense, but either way I just don't like the way it looks for some reason. Maybe I'm just a weirdo ahaha

I don't like Pizza Face for the obvious reasons!! ahaha

(I'll never be able to look at pizza the same again.) ;)

Vital Information for Your Everyday Life: Poverty Level Highest Since 1993

2011-09-13T20:21:00.000-07:00

There's no way to sugar coat the way things are in the world today. We're in a recession with a weak President who's only put us further in the can. The contenders for the 2012 Republican party are laughable at best, and if Obama gets re-elected in 2012 (and the Mayans were wrong & we're all still here) you can bet today's issues will seem like some kind of paradise then. Even the recent "death" of Osama Bin Laden wasn't enough to blind-side the American public from the current issues at hand. As much of has it pains me to say, I think it's pretty obvious America is starting to lose it's luster in comparison to countries like China. The fact that we now have to borrow money from China is definitely a sign of the times to come. I take tremendous pride in being an American, and the fact that our country is #1 (sorry my foreign readers.) so it definitely concerns me that analysts predict China should overtake the US to become the largest economy in the world by 2020, then be overtaken by India in 2050.

Until we're able to elect leaders who've actually ran successful business and know what they're doing, NOT senators & congressmen..we'll always be in the mess we're in.

It sounds pretty logical right?!

You'd think, but apparently not..here's an article from FOX NEWS (yes, I'm a gay-republican-foxnews-lover) about

the poverty level being the highest since 1993!!!

More Americans were living below the poverty line in 2010 than at any other recorded point in American history, new government data show.
In the first full year after the recession that ran from 2007 to 2009, 46.2 million people fell below the poverty line. That marks the fourth straight year of increases, and the highest number recorded by the government in 52 years of collecting data, the Census Bureau reported Tuesday.
Intellectual responses ONLY please!

Happy Birthday 90's ICON Fiona Apple!

2011-09-13T19:07:00.000-07:00

Today, September 13th, is the birthday of the ridiculously talented & amazing FIONA APPLE!

Few artists have been able to capture my heart like this woman! In today's world, very few artists actually write/produce & perform their own music. Songs are passed around like hot cakes, meaning producers/artists don't really pride in their music if they pass them around so easily/frequently. That's why, WE NEED ARTISTS LIKE FIONA APPLE IN TODAY'S WORLD!

With eyes that could pierce through your soul, this woman dives in your mind and swims through the depths of your mind with her lyrics & haunting piano melodies. She's 100% authentic, something that's lacking in today's music.

Apple has NEVER been afraid to say what's on her mind, which is one of the reasons I adore her! After she broke onto the scene with her CLASSIC 90's album, Tidal, she got quite the reputation after her infamous 1998 Grammy acceptance speech bellow:

For awhile she held the record of longest album title ever with her sophomore album,

When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king
What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight
And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring
There's no body to batter when your mind is your might
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand
And remember that depth is the greatest of heights
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land
And if you fall it won't matter, cause you'll know that you're right

Or simply abbreviated to, When the Pawn..

All 3 of her albums have been critically acclaimed, and it's rumored she'll be releasing NEW MATERIAL soon! (A boy can dream.)

She claims she doesn't go to the piano & write music when she's happy, so I take it she's been having a good time since her 2005 album, Extraordinary Machine.

Hopefully she gets her heart broken soon because her fans are DYING for new music! ahaha :)

Here is her 1996 hit, Sleep to Dream. ~~ENJOY. 90'S. KIDS.~~
