A once in a lifetime opportunity! This is an amazingly original 1972 911T that was delivered new to California and has only had 2 careful owners. The last owner was an aircraft pilot and over the last few years he has tastefully upgraded this rare Sepia Brown 911T into a subtle street racing sleeper. He upgraded the car to 2.7Liters and added 911 SC suspension and 911S brakes.

The previous owners of this car have been very meticulous with it, most of the paintwork and the interior are all original. This 38year old Porsche has never been restored!!! This is truly an amazing find! The last owner bought it back in 1978 and he always kept it in a garage and had it detailed on a regular basis.

When the previous owner retired he decided to upgrade his 911T, he contacted Dwight Mitchell and had him upgrade the original engine case to 2.7 liter, identical to a desirable 1973 Carrera RS. The intakes were modified to improve low end torque, the case has been shuffle pinned and line bored, the heads were rebuilt and ported/polished and matched to the throttle bodies, all new factory S injection parts were employed. Stainless steel heat exchangers and a Dansk single outlet muffler (all polished) were fitted. The car received factory 911S brass oil cooler lines with a fender-mounted Turbatrol oil cooler. Wevo engine mounts secure the engine onto the body. The transmission is the original 915 (matching numbers) upgraded with a Quaiffe limited slip differential and coupled to a Wevo short shifter. Only the best was good enough.

The Brakes were upgraded to 911S specification and the front suspension came from a 911SC, all powder coated and detailed. It has Koni adjustable shock absorbers, 21mm and 26mm torsion bars. He added 19mm sway bars (Wrightwood) with Zerkite bushings and a black powder-coated Weltmeister strut tower brace. The wheels are 7"X15" Factory Fuchs, in their original "Frosted" finish. Finally a 911S front bumper was added to make the car even more stable at high speeds. The car has been fully aligned and corner balanced, it's ready to be enjoyed on the street or at track days.

This car is truly as clean inside as outside, top to bottom, and with all it's mechanical upgrades it really is a blast to drive! The car comes with its original steering wheel, Fuchs spare tire and original books/toolkit.

This early 911 has spent all its life in California. Its previous owner had the car fully restored and gave it a 911R inspired look. This car was originally delivered in the Ivory white color from the factory in 1966.

The engine has been totally rebuilt, the heads received new valves and the 40mm Weber carburetors were reconditioned using factory Weber parts. A sports exhaust with dual muffler tips was fitted and the original airfilterbox has been replaced with big K&N air filters. This early 911 is ready to be enjoyed again for another 40 years.

The interior received a factory single hoop roll bar, a new headliner and lightweight carpets, a rare MOMO "Jackie Stewart" steering wheel and the original gauges were rebuilt.

The seats are GTS "Le Mans" models that have been custom upholstered with period correct "hounds tooth" fabric, the door panels are like in a 911R. These modifications suit the period race car theme very well and they are very comfortable. All the window rubber is new and the rear quarter windows have been replaced with Plexiglass 911R vented side windows fitted into the original pop out window frames.

The racing theme was carried on throughout the whole car. The suspension received sway a way 22 and 30 mm torsion bars. 19 MM adjustable sway bars were added to the front and rear. The springplates and Koni shock absorbers are adjustable. All of the suspension pieces were powder coated. The brakes are all new with orange Pagid pads, suitable for track use. The car was aligned/corner balanced and the ride height set with just a bit of negative camber. 72 mm wheel studs were fitted to hold the original 6" X 15" Fuchs wheels. They have been fully detailed and are fitted with brand new Yokohama S Drive 205/55/15 tires.

This early 911 2.0L is a blast to drive, set up to be driven hard and enjoyed to the fullest. The early Porsche 911s with their quick revving Weber fed flat6 engines are amazingly nimble and fast on the road and track and they deliver that glorious sound that only the old Porsches have, a real feast for the eyes and ears!

This particular 911 S Soft Window came off the production line on June 23 of 1967 (according to the Certificate of Authenticity issued by Porsche).

In 1967, Porsche introduced the S version of the 911, as well as the soft window Targa body style, which at the time, Porsche called the “4 in one” because of its versatile fold away back window and removable Targa roof section. The 2.0 liter S engine offered 160 bhp compared to the standard 911’s 130 bhp.

"The S version also benefited from upgraded suspension, brakes and the 67 S was the first car to introduce the famous Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The S package included 4.5 J X 15 Fuchs alloy wheels, Koni shock absorbers, ventilated brake discs, front anti-roll bar increased to 15 mm plus the addition of a 16 mm rear bar. It was equipped with a Durant exterior mirror, leather rimmed steering wheel, basket-weave trim on lower dash, and larger deco strips on the bumpers and lower body. The S also weighed less than the standard 911, tipping the scales at only 2.272 pounds (1032 kg). " Source: Porsche 911 Red Book 1965 -2005, by P. Paternie.

Production numbers on the 1967 soft window 911 S cars vary from 360 to at most 483 made. Rest assured that many of these early cars are gone, so the remaining number is very, very small today.

For sure, the first year, 1967 911 S Targa (soft window), is one of the most significant street legal Porsche’s ever made.

This car, # 500614 S was sold new in the US, and was acquired by the previous owner, a football legend in his time. He bought the car because he wanted both his sons to have a black1967 S soft window Targa. When he acquired the car it was still in its original Irish Green livery but he decided to have this soft window painted black, so both his soft windows would be black. When this bare metal respray was done the car was fitted with new rubbers and a brand new Targa roof cover and complete opening back widow assembly including a new cover to place over the back window when it's folded down.

The interior is still mostly original and has only been well maintained and cleaned. The car is equipped with a period correct Blaupunkt radio, the five gauges are all in excellent working order (even the clock) and the car shows just less than 82.000 miles ( 132.000Km, believed to be original) on the original black / green speedo. This is what we would consider a very low millage car, having only covered around 3000km per year over the last 43 years!

Today, the deep black paint suits the car very well, especially with the chrome and golden trim, period correct Fuchs wheels and the stainless steel brushed Targa “safety” bar. Most of the trunk space is original and the car even has its rare and original 5 spoke Fuchs spare wheel. All the wheels are the very rare 4.5"x15" '67 only Fuchs, these were restored to the factory anodised finish by Harvey Weidman and they are absolutely stunning.

This super rare early 911S Softwindow still has it's original factory delivered, matching numbers engine and gearbox! The engine is totaly stock (except for the K&N air filters).

After we received the car our Porsche mechanic went completely through the car. Everything was checked, cleaned and if necessary overhauled. The brakes have been redone, and the engine was fully detailed and serviced, the rare original 40IDS carburettors have been overhauled using only new original Weber parts from Italy.

The engine idles perfectly and pulls strong to the factory redline. Especially nice is the experience of the open soft window and the sound of the 6 cylinder boxer motor in the back. This has to be experienced in order to be able to imagine and appreciate. Those period 2.0 liter 911S engines are very quick, they rev up through the powerband so easily, so musical and deliver fantastic power and torque.

This is your unique opportunity to acquire a car with true investment potential. It's a rare and very desirable Porsche that's for sure going to increase in value in the years to come and at the same time it can be enjoyed as a daily driver or just a fabulous collector car to go out driving with the family on weekends.

When this car was bought by the previous owner he first restored the cars body. He decided to make the car into an R-Gruppe tribute Porsche. He replaced the front fenders, bumpers and rear deck lid with fiberglass ones and welded in new metal where necessary. For the front bumper, one was chosen from a 911S with the small front spoilers that provides more stability at high speeds. As the 911 T was the lightest of all 911's, replacing steel parts by fiberglass served the goal of saving weight even more.

Thereafter the bare metal tub was resprayed in a resplendent Original Signal Orange. The white stripe decoration was also painted. Looking at the car it is easy to see it as a Kremer built Jägermeister sponsored car that ran in a European Touring championship back in the seventies.

To add to the period look it was decided to change the rear Fuchs wheels with wider 7” aluminum Minilites (very specific of that period). The front Fuchs wheels are original rare early 6”X15” ones. A dual sport exhaust was added to finish of the period race look of the car.

All these features are an integral part of how an R-Gruppe car looks, sounds and handles.

The R-Gruppe being a fraternity of early long hood (pre-73) 911 lovers who asked themselves how Porsche would build these early cars today in a lightweight (911 R) type fashion. This club for passionate long hood 911 owners was founded in California by Cris Huergas and Freeman Thomas. The R-Gruppe idea appealed to lots of people and now there are chapters all over the world.

Further detailing the car, the previous owner in Colorado decided on building a 2.2 liter engine with modified S cams, 40 PMO carburettors (delivering that glorious sound), K&N filters. He used a blank engine case (NOS). All the hardware in the engine bay has been powder coated. Bursch headers and a dual sports exhaust have been installed. The exhaust is ceramic coated grey. To ensure that the high performance engine stays cool a full Carrera oil cooling system was installed. Cadmium plated oil lines were added alongside of the body just like on a more modern model 911, they are connected to a radiator mounted in front of the passenger side front tire.

The gearbox is the earlier type 5 speed 905 gearbox with the first gear to the bottom left, the so called dogleg 5 speed. Clutch and flywheel have been resurfaced and the pedal box has been rebuilt.

The suspension is set up for hard driving and track use featuring Dart monoball upper strut mounts and Elephant Racing Polybronze bushings front and rear. The sway bars are TRG’s and fully adjustable. Torsion bars are upgraded to 22 mm up front and 28mm in the back. The shocks are new custom Sports Bilsteins in SC struts up front and the same Sports (Green) Bilsteins in the rear next to the Adjustable, cadmium plated SC spring plates.

As for the brakes the previous owner opted for the bigger SC callipers that were completely rebuilt. All the fixed brake lines are new factory lines and the flexible ones are braided stainless steel racing lines. The brake master cylinder is also new.

An ATL fuel cell was mounted (15 gallons = 57.78 Liters), connected with aeroquip plumbing, also a PMO fuel regulator and fuel pressure gauge have been installed.

The interior has been built following the same lightweight philosophy as the rest of the car.

The dashboard was fitted with a big oil pressure warning light on the right in place of the clock and the revcounter was turned similar to period racing 911s, the dashboard was covered in a lightweight non reflecting dashtop. The shifter is the stock one that was totally rebuilt with all new bushing, the carpets are lightweight "RS Perlon" and the headliner is a brand new factory one.

The seats are a period looking GTS Classics "Sebring" driver seat and a GTS Classics "Nurburgring" passenger seat both with custom houndstooth cloth inserts. The belts are 4 point Schroth and the steeringwheel is a Momo Prototipo.

This car is currently being detailed and will be as good as new. All technical components are being checked and a complete big service will be performed. The car will be aligned and corner balanced and all mechanical components will be checked before the car will be sold.

This car will be ready to be enjoyed by the avid sports driver, on track days and touristic or other rallys or just as a nice collectible early Porsche to enjoy on weekends or even as a daily driver. It is a joy to drive as it is so nimble and light and it has plenty of horsepower to play with.

The power to weight ratio of an early 911 like this one is very hard to beat by any modern car, they are seriously quick even by todays standards.

And then there is that amazing sound of an early Porsche flat 6 engine with carburetors, it's like sweet music in your ears.
