The Porsche 993 is the internal designation for the version of the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1994 and 1998. It was the last of the air-cooled 911s and it was considered by many to be the best of the 911 series.

The 993 featured a more aerodynamic design than its predecessor, the Porsche 964, and it was available in several different models, including the 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S, 911 Turbo, and 911 GT2. The 993 was also the first 911 to feature a six-speed manual transmission as standard.

The 993 was also the first 911 to have an all-new multilink rear suspension, which improved handling and stability. The 993 also featured a new powerplant, the M64/03, a 3.6-liter flat-six engine that produced 282 horsepower in the Carrera models and 360 horsepower in the Turbo.

The 993 was also the first 911 to have a VarioRam induction system which improved low-end torque and response.

The 993 was also the last 911 to feature the classic, bulbous shape that had been a Porsche hallmark for over 30 years.

Many enthusiasts and critics consider the 993 to be the best 911 ever made, due to its perfect balance of performance, handling, and design. Today, the 993 is a highly sought-after classic car and it commands a premium on the collector car market.

The Porsche 901 is the internal designation for the original Porsche 911, which was first introduced in 1963. It was first presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, however it was later changed to 911 due to Peugeot claiming to have the rights to car model names with 3 digits and a 0 in the middle.

The 901 featured a rear-mounted flat-six engine, and a distinctive design that featured a long hood and a short rear deck. It was initially available in coupe and cabriolet body styles, and it was equipped with a 2.0-liter engine that produced 130 horsepower. It featured a five-speed manual transmission and a four-wheel independent suspension.

The 901 was well received by the public and automotive press, and it quickly established itself as a premier sports car. However, due to the name conflict with Peugeot, Porsche was forced to change the name of the car to 911, which is still in production today.

The 901 prototype and early production models are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, due to their rarity and historical significance as the first generation of the 911.

Porsche built a total of 82 901s, but only a few has survived, making it now a valuable collector car and a piece of Porsche history.
