Another way of using solar energy is to produce electricity. The system is called photovoltaic system and it uses solar cells or photovoltaic arrays to produce electricity from the sun light. Solar cells could be placed on the roof or near the house. The power of solar cells is measured by W/sqm (Watts per square meter). Photovoltaics or generally “electricity from the sun” is sometimes called as the power of future. Thermostatic radiator valves are very smart devices used for more than 20 years for radiator heating. Thermostatic radiator valve regulates radiator temperature depending on room temperature. When room temperature reaches adjusted temperature on thermostatic radiator valve, then this “smart” valve automatically reduces radiator temperature … and vice versa … if room temperature is dropping then “smart” valve is opening and radiator gets warm again.

Using air conditioning devices for cooling air in rooms could be expensive and polluting. Air conditioning devices use a lot of energy and therefore they indirectly produce CO2 and other pollution (in power plants where electricity is produced). If it is possible try to cool down and ventilate rooms through windows in the evening or in the morning when outside air is cooler and fresh.

I think the title of this post tells you all. If you are using old household appliances (e.g. refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher…) do consider buying new ones with energy sign A or A+. Old machines (5 or more years old) have no energy sign at all or have energy sign C or D … those machines are bad machines swallowing energy with big spoon. Important: Don’t throw old machines anywhere!!

Check water heater temperature. In normal conditions and for normal use it is enough to warm up water in a water heater up to 50 – 60 degrees Celsius. It is also recommended to heat water up to 70 – 80 degrees Celsius from time to time, but these temperatures are too high and should not be used on a daily basis.

Always observe cars in front of your car and try to foresee situations that could happen. If you do so, you will be able to drive your car without sudden stops or accelerations. Sudden stops and accelerations use much more fuel than driving moderate. Now you know why fuel consumption is so high when you are in town and totally nervous – full throttle, full brake.

5. Separating paper from other waste

Factories for producing paper have to use a lot of clean water, energy and destroy many trees in our neighborhood. If you want to change this, buy wastepaper basket only for paper and start separating paper from other waste. Most sorts of paper are recyclable and could be used for paper production with less energy and less destroyed trees.

Instead of classic lamp, which is not efficient in transforming electricity to light, use energy saving lamp (light, bulb). Many people are buying new plastic bags every time they enter the shop and then throwing them away after they put goods in the refrigerator. This is very bad behavior. You can improve this behavior by using one bag for many times (not throwing it away) or buy one special bag for shopping that can be used many times and is made of recyclable material. 99 Environment friendly advices

I think many of us just can’t see opportunities for environment friendly living due to the constant race for business, daily activities, stress and other factors. Those “disturbing” factors force us to behave according to our plans and company’s plans, almost everything is in the plan in our tight schedule, but what is missing … I think environment component is missing in our plan. For the start maybe just to check if all lights are switched off when leaving our homes at the morning, or to think in which shop we have to go in our way home to reduce our travel costs and of course pollution. Those are the little things which will enable use to continue planning also other “more important” business plans in the future. If we forget about those little environment friendly things, I’m not sure how long we will be able to make plans for our business and daily activities… maybe 20 years… who knows? So let’s act environment friendly now – my new blog is the right place to move into action, powered by Green Confident Blog, always in action.
