Perfume is meant as an accent to you, complimenting your overall being. With that being said, the perfume you wear can magically attract people to you, but it also has the power to make a person flee from you. But no worries, 99Perfume is here to help! :)

Here we have gathered some quick perfume wearing dos and don’ts to ensure you are successfully wearing your fragrance.

Dos of Wearing Perfume:

Have dry skin? Is it cold out? You should wear some extra perfume because the oils in your skin, or short of, can boost or weaken the scent. Also, cold weather tends to weaken the scent of a fragrance.

The best time to put on a fragrance is right after a shower or a bath because your skin pores will be open and soak up the perfume. Also, some soaps can effect how the fragrance will smell on your skin so using a non-deodorized soap in the areas in which you plan on using a perfume will prevent from an unpleasant mixture.

It’s good to apply your fragrance unusual places where it will keep its scent longer and stay warm such as the inside of your elbow, the wrist, neck, stomach and even the back of your knees!

Don’ts of Wearing Perfume:

Don’t spray your perfume on jewelry. Some types of jewelry, like costume or pearl, tend to be discolored due to the alcohols in the fragrance. So when wearing perfume with some types of jewelry it is important to apply it away from the jewelry.

Don’t wear the same perfume year round. Try to change it up a bit! Test out different fragrances for different seasons, some scents can be affected by temperature.
Never apply your perfume behind the ears because it can mix with skin secretions and give off a bad scent. Also, you want to avoid spraying it on light colored clothing to avoid discoloration.

Can I wear two fragrances at the same time?

Of course you can!

By wearing two different fragrances, you could create your own personalized signature scent! It is important to make sure the two fragrances work well together. You might want to first try it just a little bit on your wrist first. Just be sure to only apply about half of what you normally would spray of each. PH levels (amount of acidity in our skin) also vary slightly from person to person. Our individual levels of PH determine how each ingredient in a fragrance will react.

Best way to know is by testing the fragrance on you. Test it out to see what you think before further applying it to more places. Also, have somebody else smell it on you too. It is a lot easier to remove it if it turns out bad, and you could just add more if you like it.

Try refraining from combining two similar scents. For instance, combining florals with more florasls will just give you an overly floral smell, along with a headache. Instead, try supplementing a floral with a hint of spicy oriental tone fragrance.

There's nothing wrong with being creative. Just remember to go EXTREMELY light with both of them and always get someone's opinion when mixing/wearing two different fragrances! :)

Should you wear perfume/cologne to an interview?

One of 99Perfume's co-workers recently applied to graduate schools and is starting to get interviews for admissions. She recently asked a fellow co-worker how she should dress/look during the interview. This made me think what kind of perfume a person would wear at an interview. Obviously, we don't want to wear something that is overpowering and is one of those headache-inducing perfumes.

Here are some tips one could follow when thinking on wearing a perfume to an interview:

Tip One: Wear perfume in places that the interviewer wouldn't come in contact with. Places like behind your ears, on the insides of your writs, on the back of your neck.

Tip Two: Do not spray it on your clothing because the fragrance stays behind each time you lean or move around.

Tip Three: Go easy on spraying the scent. Once is enough.

Tip Four: Avoid strong shampoos, conditioners, hairspray, body oils, body sprays, and fragrance glitter too because it will further intensify your smell.

The Golden Rule When It Comes to Fragrances

Less is more!

Fragrance is always more potent than one imagines. The nose is a delicate instrument. When it becomes used to a scent (whether it be your fine perfume or the garlic used in the kitchen) it does not register the scent anymore and so one thinks that thing has lost its scent. This is actually a defense mechanism and our olfactory systems shut down. This does not mean it isn’t noticeable for others. Likewise, if you have worn a fragrance several times, your nose will lose your sense of smell to it. Especially as we age, our sense of smell begins to dull. The old trick of walking through a mist does work, but avoid applying directly on clothing as it can stain and also doesn’t diffuse the scent as nicely as the natural oils on your skin.... This applies to women and men alike.

Someone should be able to smell your perfume if they’re within 1-2 feet of you, not much more. The best way to test this and get a honest answer is to ask someone who is not used to your scent to see if they can detect it on you.

How can I make my scent last longer?

Fragrance lasts longer on some people than on others because of differences in our skin (oily or dry) and in our PH levels. Layering of perfumes helps the fragrance to last for a really long time without the over application of your favorite perfume.

There is a little known technique to layering your fragrance so that it lasts all day. It works for a woman's perfume or a man's cologne. The trick to it is using products in the same scent category and layering the scent throughout your clothing as well. Whatever perfume or cologne you wear, try to purchase bath products in the same scent, like bath or shower gel, body lotion/aftershave lotion, and deodorant.

Layering begins during the shower. So after showering use the moisturizer (or men’s equivalent product) or powder so it will soak in. Once you have moisturized yourself, spray the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum or Eau de Cologne. Apply the spray on your pulse points, neck, close to your ears, knees, cleavage, wrists, toes, and lower back, because pulse points produce heat which in turn releases the scent of your perfume. When applying the perfume on your wrist, never rub it together because it would "compress" the scent and won't allow the scent to develop naturally with your body chemistry. Also, for a lingering effect, spray your hairbrush with a favorite scent and run it through your hair. A light spray on the hair can last all day!

Don't over apply the products. When it comes to perfumes, live by the motto 'less is more'. It’s always better to leave a delicate perfume trail than an irritating odor :P.

Celebrity perfumes are scents generated by big names more associated with TV, pop music, and film rather than a fragrance house. In recent years, celebrity fragrances are the biggest phenomenon to hit the global fragrances market. But what has caused this massive trend of coming up with a perfume line? Tips for Traveling with Perfume

Bringing your favorite perfumes or colognes may be difficult to take on a flight. Sometimes, the pressure in the airplane causes perfumes to leak, it's important to securely pack your fragrances inside a zip lock bag in your luggage and have it be surrounded by clothes so it won't break. The zip lock bag is your "just-in-case" it leaks or breaks it won't ruin everything in the bag. If you want to travel without risking breaking your expensive and probably large bottle of fragrance, here are some great alternatives:

Take smaller travel sizes like 0.5 oz and 1.0 oz, as they are less likely to break or leak.

Chaps Cologne by Ralph Lauren 0.5 oz

Take multiple samples or purse sprays of your favorite fragrance and pack those in a medicine (or similar) bottle with a tight seal. Bringing samples of the fragrance are an inexpensive and less bulky way of taking your scent with you on carry-on.

Note, unless it is a very small bottle, the airline/airport won't let you bring it on the airplane. Calvin Klein CK One Shock for Her--Coming Soon!

If you’re old enough to remember the days when Calvin Klein was truly shocking (think Brooke Shields! think Obsession!), you’re probably older than the target audience for the new CK One Shock for her. CK One Shock for her (along with its male counterpart, CK One Shock for him) is a flanker to the unisex CK One, which was innovative, if not exactly shocking, when it was launched in grunge-era 1994.

The Calvin Klein website describes CK One Shock for her’s composition as having top notes of passionflower, pink peony, and poppy flower; mid notes of liquid chocolate accord, blackberry, narcisse, and jasmine; and base notes of vanillin, patchouli, ambers, and skin musk. It’s billed as a ”juicy floriental,” but it’s really more of a fruity gourmand. As you can tell from the list of notes, it does not have anything in common with the original CK One’s green-citrus freshness. On the other hand, you won’t confuse it with Schiaparelli Shocking, either. CK One Shock for her opens with a tart, synthetic blackberry note and possibly just a hint of lemon. The heart of the fragrance is more fruit, of the pink-and-purple variety, if you know what I mean: sort of plummy, sort of currant-like. The base of the fragrance emerges after a half-hour or so and blends with the purple fruits. It’s the kind of dry, powdery cocoa accord that Obsession seems to be appearing everywhere these days. The “skin musk” of the dry down is very light and clean.

Overall, CK One Shock accomplishes what it sets out to do: it’s a flanker for a popular youth-oriented fragrance, geared towards female customers in their teens and twenties who enjoy sweet berry-dessert fragrances but might be looking for something a little higher-end than Bath & Body Works. It’s smoothly blended. It’s reasonably priced. And, despite its gourmand aspect, it won’t overwhelm the wearer (or anyone she passes in her high-school hallway), because it has low sillage and mild staying power.

The 2.43 carat Flawless Vivid Yellow Canary Diamond adorns the cap of the bottle alongside a DKNY Golden Delicious diamond oval logo.

The DKNY Million Dollar Bottle will be unveiled across the globe from London, to Mexico to Malaysia. Fragrance lovers will have a chance to marvel at the stunning, one-of-a-kind bottle, as it is unveiled.
