Tap your watch to compatible gym equipment, and Apple Watch shares your heart rate while the machine sends back metrics like distance, incline, pace, and calories.

With iOS 27, Apple is expanding that idea beyond Apple Watch. I tested the new GymKit on iPhone and AirPods Pro 3 ($179, reg. $249) experience with a GymKit-compatible treadmill. It basically gives you the Apple Watch GymKit workout tracking experience, just without the watch. This could be useful in a lot of scenarios.

You’re running errands, waiting in the parking lot, or stuck away from the TV when the match finally kicks off. While your car screen is great for maps and music, it’s usually not set for match day streaming.

That’s what Ottocast wants to change this Summer Soccer Celebration. OttoAibox E2, OttoAibox P3 Pro, and Play2Video Ultra turn compatible car displays into entertainment hubs. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, streaming apps, and split-screen multitasking are included without replacing your car’s built-in head unit. Ottocast gives you a much better way to stay connected to the match.

As stated at WWDC, over 1000 apps are being submitted every hour. Apps can be built substantially faster now – creating a flood of submissions. This is a bit of an issue when there’s only one true method of distributing apps on iPhone, at least in most of the world.

Apple recently introduced a higher review bar for App Store submissions, and while that’s certainly a step in the right direction – I don’t think it’s a full solution.

My LinkedIn feed is full of a growing narrative predicting a coming SaaS apocalypse. It’s actually full of AI-slop-thought-leadership as well, but that is another story. The idea is that generative AI tools like Claud will eventually become so powerful that businesses will simply replace all their specialized SaaS software vendors with a single AI tool. As someone who’s worked in IT for 20 years and currently uses these tools in the workplace, I want to immediately push back on that idea
