THE type of poison used to kill General Sani Abacha and Basorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (M.K.O.) Abiola in 1998 is known as ‘Chemical 1’ in espionage and diplomatic circles and it is one of the most ‘deadly and scariest’ poisons in the world. It is colourless and odourless and can be injected into the skin, dissolved in a liquid, or simply released into the air. Any target will be dead in minutes.

Presidential candidate of the National Action Congress (NAC), Dr. Olapade Agoro, who is close to Nigeria’s security circle, disclosed this while reacting to the revelations by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Abacha, Major Hamza al-Mustapha, at a Lagos High Court.

Al-Mustapha declared before Justice Mojisola Dada that a high-level conspiracy, involving some senior military officers, civilian and foreign collaborators, led to the murder of Abacha and Abiola on June 8, 1998 and July 7, 1998 respectively.

Agoro, a cleric and businessman, said the poison was the type used by the United States (U.S.) to try and eliminate Adolf Hitler during the Second World War “but he was saved by his girlfriend”. He also alleged that Abiola, being an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), would not have been killed if he had heeded the warning of the American agency that he should renounce his mandate.

Agoro revealed that a late Yoruba leader was in the United States (U.S.) when the plot was hatched to kill Abiola during the General Abdulsalami Abubakar regime and he may have collected part of the $200 million, 75 million pounds and N500 million withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to bribe South-West leaders.
He said: “Al Mustapha’s revelation came late but was truthful, strong and damning. The type of Chemical 1 used on M.K.O. and Abacha could only be produced for that type of a deadly assignment by the Western power, particularly the U.S.

“Considering the fact that some agents of the West were present when M.K.O. was served the tea, a liquid he took last before he died, one can reasonably conclude that he was poisoned, using Chemical 1 which once taken dissolves into the blood system within a minute and, thereafter, becomes untraceable. “The U.S. attempted killing Adolf Hitler with Chemical 1 in tea during the Second World War but the plan was voided by Hitler’s girl friend.

“Abiola was an agent of the FBI. The agency told him it was enough but he did not heed and that was why he was eliminated. They used the nurse treating Abiola to poison him. The nurse was a Pakistani and you know Pakistan is also an agent of the U.S. The lethal poison cannot be procured in Nigeria”.
In his reaction, Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, said al-Mustapha must mention the names of the Yoruba leaders who collected the money and Abubakar must speak whether his regime withdrew the sum from the CBN for that purpose.

Adebanjo, who maintained that Afenifere had always insisted that Abiola death was a conspiracy, said: “We have always maintained that Abiola ‘s death was a conspiracy. al-Mustapha was the CSO then, so he knows all the details. If what he is saying is not true, Abdusalami should refute the allegation.
“al-Mustapha said he is being persecuted because he knows too much about what transpired and how Abacha and Abiola were murdered. Let him (Abdusalami) produce his own video and audio tapes about what happened; how Abacha and Abiola died to counter the al-Mustapha’s tape. The truth shall come out one day”.
To the founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Isiotan Fasehun, he was not one of those who collected money from Abubakar.
He said: “I can assure you I’ m not one of the South-West leaders he was referring to. Nigerians will always be Nigerians, whether from the South, North or East. Corruption sustains our government at any level”.

OPC National Coordinator, Otunba Gani Adams, said: “The information is true. It was through the connivance of some Yoruba leaders that Chief M.K.O. Abiola was murdered. And you will realise that it was about the same time that Abdusalami was going through the South-West states to induce some leaders. You will discover that none of the notable leaders were there when Abiola was buried. They stayed away, it was the masses that buried him.

“Abiola, Bola Ige and Funso Williams were murdered without any clue to their death. Abiola was traded off because of the selfish interest of some leaders. If they want to deny it that they took money, al-Mustapha may be forced to open the Pandora Box and name them and the amount they got each from the Abdusalami-led military junta. We have to talk now, this is not the time to keep silent. It is true that some people took money to compromise Abiola and the pan-Nigerian mandate bestowed on him”
But, Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, described the allegation as wild.

Fasoranti told the Nigerian Compass that al-Mustapha’s allegation was not only wild but an afterthought in order to wriggle out of the murder charge hanging on him.
According to the octogenarian politician who was in the forefront for the revalidation of Abiola’s mandate, there was no sharing of money among Yoruba leaders that he was aware of to betray the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Pointedly, Fasoranti said what sl-Multapha said was a contradiction of the reality of the situation, adding that he should substantiate the allegation instead of making sweeping statements that may embarrass Yoruba leaders.

Legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola, also said that al-Mustapha should be bold enough to give the names of those who collected the money.
He said: “In the interest of the whole Yoruba race, he should give the names of those leaders who collected the money”.
In his view, the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev. Felix F.Ajakaye, advised al-Mustapha not to heat up the polity, calling on him to give facts of the matter and not be a propagandist.

However, the Director of Africa Network on Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), a non- governmental organisation and public analyst, David Ugolor, described al-Mustapha as a man “who has no history of integrity” and “an interested party in the entire Abiola saga”, particularly concerning the military onslaught and several killings that characterised the then military era under which he served.
Ugolor told the Nigerian Compass: “Mustapha is an interested party in the whole Abiola saga and whatever anything Mustapha says, one would want to see how opportunity would be established for it to be confirmed and because I don’t have the other side of the story, it will be difficult for me to completely say what Mustapha said is true or not.

“He was a key stakeholder in the entire process, he was in Aso Rock. He also has his own interest. Mustapha has no history of integrity in terms of human rights. So, when Mustapha is saying anything, you have to be cautious. So, the fact that he is in prison now, he wants to whip sentiments, there is no doubt. He is like a sinking man but as that may be, whatever anything he said, it will be wrong to throw it out completely because I think that we need to reflect on things that happen in this country if we must move forward in constructive development.

The ANEEJ boss maintained that beyond what Mustapha said, “he has the responsibility to make those audio and video evidences he claimed that he has available to human rights groups who I think are in a better position to make the reprint or republication of those materials available so that it can generate public debate as to the role individuals played during that time because I think this is one of the things General Babangida had also referred to that he agreed to take responsibility for the annulment of the June 12 election but, at the same time, if you read his commentary ever since, you will note that he didn’t take that decision just alone. There are people who jointly took that decision with him and to a large extent, those people are hiding under Babangida’s non commitment to disclosing who played what role.

“So, when you have a Mustapah coming out clearly to say things about how the government treasury was looted to appease some individuals in the South-West who particularly were aggrieved as a result of their son who was killed, it gives room for more investigations.
“It is the same characters of people either by offshoot or friendship that are still in power in the last 20 years. So, if Mustapha ever expect justice from the present government in dealing with issues that he has exposed, he is on his own but I think the better way to move forward in ensuring that what Mustapha has said is that Mustapha should be bold enough to make all these information available to human rights groups and I think human rights groups should be able to make good use of it to make further debate and once there is a public debate, I think that is the only way we can bring pressure to this government to set up an independent panel of inquiry to investigate the veracity of the statement credited to Mustapha.

Meanwhile, two human rights lawyers, Fred Agbaje and Bamidele Aturu, have absolved the courts of any blame in the more than 13 years incarceration of al-Mustapha.
al-Mustapha and two others, Rabo Lawal and Lateef Shofolahan, are being tried for alleged conspiracy and murder.
They were accused of assassinating Mrs Kudirat Abiola on June 4, 1996 along Motorways, Ikeja.
al-Mustapha was also accused of attempted murder of the publisher of The Guardian, Mr Alex Ibru.
Aturu said: “al Mustapha has himself to blame over the delay in his trial. His lawyers are the ones that have been coming up with frivolous suits which may be their strategy but which have resulted in 13 years of trial.
“The law is that a man cannot profit from his own wrong. There is no way the courts will allow him to go without concluding the matter,” Aturu said.
Agbaje said: “The courts are doing their best in ensuring that al-Mustapha’s procedural rights are complied with.
“al-Mustapha is not deliberately kept in jail. The courts are giving him every opportunity to tell his own side of the story, hence the revelations he gave on Monday”.
According to him, al-Mustapha’s many applications may have also contributed to the delay in his trial, but at the end, justice would be done.

I say, Let the trial of Al-Mustapha go on. In the end, the Judge has a choice of acquittal or sentence for life or death sentence, whichever verdict is visited on him. But his evidence has given us a chance at national healing and discovery.

The University of Ilorin has emerged the best university in Nigeria, ranked 5484th in the world and 55th in Africa, the July edition of the World University ranking, conducted by Webometrics has revealed.

Since 2004, the ranking is published twice a year (January and July), and it covers more than 20,000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide.
Previously, no Nigerian university has ever been rated amongst the first five thousand best in the world. Quality of educational research, school size, academic prestige, and others are amongst several other conditions considered for the ratings.

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, emerged the second in the country, 5756th in the world and 61st in Africa. It is followed by University of Jos, University of Lagos, University of Benin, University of Ibadan, University of Nigeria Nsuka, all with 66th, 68th, 77th, 79th, 99th positions in Africa and 5882th, 5936th, 6324th, 6425th and 7170th respectively position in the world.

The new rating is seen as a sign of improvement, as the best Nigerian university in its February ratings emerged in 6340th global position.

The University of Lagos, which was ranked at the 6340th position, is now 5936th but it slipped to the fourth position amongst other Nigerian universities.

Harvard University was rated the best in the world, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University respectively.

Africa has only one university amongst the first 500, and five in the first one thousand, with University of Cape Town, South Africa leading in Africa and ranked 340th in the entire world. Stellenbosch University, University of Pretoria, and University of the Witwatersrand, followed the ranking as the leading African universities respectively

Prostitute Arrested For Trying To Burn Down A Church

A prostitute who was being persuaded to renounce her trade and become a born-again Christian has been arrested by the police for allegedly trying to burn down the church where members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Ministry were trying to make her a member.

The woman who was identified by the police as Lydia Joseph, an Idoma from Benue State, was alleged to have entered St. John’s Catholic Cathedral, Bauchi, at 12.30 p.m. on the said day with petrol which she reportedly sprinkled on the pews and lit them with a lighter.
After her action, she tried to escape but was caught by other church members.
It was alleged that the suspect lied to security men at the gate that she had gone to ‘’buy kerosene before getting to the church for prayers,’’ before she was allowed to go in, having become a regular face on the premises.
However, nemesis was said to have caught up with her when she sprinkled with petrol on the pews and set them on fire but was noticed immediately by another member of the church who was praying inside.
The Catechist at St. John’s Catholic Cathedral, Mr. Daniel John, said he was at the priest’s house in the church compound when he heard shouts by other members who noticed the smoke coming out of the church and saw the suspect trying to escape and then raised an alarm which attracted other people to the scene before the arrival of policemen.
John said: ‘’The lady took to her heels when she noticed that a church member was inside, praying and had seen her carry out the dastardly act".
“When I came out she had run out of the compound but the members who saw her running chased and caught her”.

That both of them have terminated five pregnancies in the course of their affinity & why they are keeping the present pregnancy due to the advice of Dr that his mother will loose her life if she attempts abortion again. Thugs kill mother and daughter over Delta politics

The attackers reportedly raped Miss Owolo, who recently completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, before shooting her. Both mother and daughter died on Wednesday in a private hospital in Effurun. Another victim in the attack carried out at about 10pm was a toddler, who was hit by a stray bullet.

Narrating the incident to reporters in Warri yesterday, Aghoghor Ewenode, the elder son to the late Mrs. Ewenode, said he was the target of the attackers.

Mr. Ewenode alleged that officers of the Ekpan Police Division, Effurun would have averted the situation but for their nonchalant attitude as he and his murdered sister had reported the threat to their lives by political hoodlums in the area.

He called on the Inspector General of Police to order for the immediate transfer of the DPO in-charge of Ekpan Police Division, Muhammed Muazu for his failure to protect lives and property in the area.

"I was not around when the incident took place. I was hanging out in a drinking bar with some friends when someone came with a report that a woman and her daughter have been shot dead," he said.

"It was later that one okada rider came to tell me that it my mother that was shot by some supporters of a political party. This same group that had come to tell me to come and work with them. That I should come and work with them instead of the DPP where I belong. I have been an agent and a strong supporter of DPP in my area since 2003."

"They beat me up in February because of this same issue. It was the police that came to rescue me on that occasion. Because of their threat, I packed out from my mother's house in Effurun to our house in Warri. Even after that, they called me to say that I should remember that my people are still in Effurun. That if they can't get me, they will erase my family from the surface of the earth and on Tuesday night at about 11pm, they came and killed my lovely mother. They shot my sister in her private part after raping her and shot my mother on the waist."

The spokesperson of the Police in Delta State, Charles Muka, said the Police already have the report of the killing, but that the matter had not been officially reported.

"We (Police) already have record of the killing but we are yet to receive any former statement from anybody or members of the family. However, we have started full scale investigation into the matter with the view of ascertaining if it was a politically motivated crime," he said.

Court denies 13-year-old bail for attempting to kill Olusegun Obasanjo

A 13-year-old boy, Precious Efurueze, who is accused of allegedly attempting to kill former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, in Owerri on 31, March, by stoning their campaign convoy with sachets of pure water; was on Wednesday denied bail by a chief magistrate court in Owerri.

Master Efurueze is among 18 people charged with attempted murder for participation in the attack on Messrs. Obasanjo and Ohakim. Notable among the accused is Prince Madumere, the chief of staff to the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Rochas Okorocha.

At the resumed hearing of the suit yesterday the presiding magistrate, V.C Isiguzo, while delivering ruling on the application for bail for the accused, explained that her court has no jurisdiction on two of the charges because they are punishable by life imprisonment. Mrs. Isiguzo, however, turned down the accused's request to be granted bail until the conclusion of the substantive suit.

The chief magistrate explained that her reason for denying the accused bail is that they had been charged with felony which carries a punishment of life imprisonment if found guilty. She said the offence is a serious one and, therefore, should not be treated lightly.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the court session, Greg Okemiri, the counsel representing the 12th to the 16th accused persons, while expressing his displeasure with the ruling of the magistrate, hinted that the reason the application was denied may be political. He was also angered by the continued detention of Master Efurueze who, he explained, under the law of the country, by virtue of being a minor, is considered incapable of committing a crime.

"The law describes him as not capable of committing crime yet," he said. "All these things are in our law. Sometimes I feel very sad that we do not want to do things right. You see someone who the law describes as not capable of committing a crime yet, and you remand him in an adult prison." Mr. Okemiri, however, stated that he has taken steps to see that the boy is released soon. The case was adjourned to May 30, for further hearing.

A 21-year old woman described by family members as ‘a staunch Chelsea supporter’ died on the way to hospital after fainting just minutes when Manchester United striker, Javier Hernandez scored the first goal in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-finals clash between the Red Devils and The Blues.

Tabitha Nyambura, who was an aviation student, was watching the game with her mother and other family members at home in Kiserian, a town which is about thirty kilometres from Nairobi City, when she heaved heavily thrice, just seconds after Hernandez scored the opener before she passed out.

“After Manchester United scored the first goal, she simply said, ‘United will win this match’ and then took three deep breaths before falling down,” her mother told Citizen TV. “She died on the way as we rushed her to hospital. She was shocked because she never expected Manchester United to win.”

Her father who was not at home at that time told the TV station that Tabitha was a staunch Chelsea supporter and watched all their matches and other matches in the English Premier League. “I was away but she loved Chelsea and watched all their matches and that of other teams. She also liked to play football occasionally while at home,” the father said. The family was awaiting post-mortem results to ascertain the real cause of her death.

This is not the first time a Kenyan fan had died because of football matches happening far away in England. In May 2009, Seuleiman Alphonso Omondi, an ardent Arsenal fan committed suicide after Manchester United eliminated the Gunners from the Champions League on a 4-1 goal aggregate. And in March last year, a 19-year old Manchester United fan, Abubakar Baishe was repeatedly stabbed by fellow school-mate, who was an Arsenal fan. Baishe was stabbed in the left side of his abdomen after United beat Liverpool. Baishe though survived the tragic incident.

She was a 16-year-old schoolgirl who dreamed of going to Oxford with a talent for public speaking. But her life was ended by gangsters who fired a submachine gun through the window of a takeway in the mistaken thought their rivals were inside.

Two members of the gang were sentenced to life in prison both with a minimum term of 32 years after they were found guilty of the murder of Agnes Suina-Inakoju.

The 16-year-old was happily talking to friends in the fried chicken shop in Hoxton when bullets from the Croatian-made Agram 9mm submachine pistol smashed through the window.

Agnes, who the court heard had a realistic chance of achieving her ambition of a university education, was seen clutching her face in agony — an unwitting victim of gang rivalry which has reached a new and terrifying level of sophisticated weaponry and callousness.

Gunman Leon Dunkley and his lookout Mohammed Smoured, both 22 and from Hackney, are members of the London Fields Boys gang. Police later discovered the gang's stash of weapons including a Mac 10 submachine gun, stored under a nine-year-old boy's bed.

The killers, dressed in hoodies, rode to the shop on bikes and, without checking who was inside, opened fire through the window. CCTV film of the shooting played to the jury was described as 'shocking, graphic and hideously violent'.

'The scene inside this shop is one of shock, horror and chaos,' said Simon Denison, QC, prosecuting. A teenager, often used by the London Field Boys as a gun runner, told the court he heard Smoured talking a few days after the killing. The gang were laughing and 'Smoured said something about someone being shot in the neck and said the way they dropped was funny'.

Agnes, a popular and successful student who had just finished her GCSEs, died in hospital two days later with her mother Safurat at her side. Her sisters had had a plan to make her a model by sending her photos to agencies on her 18th birthday. They wanted to wait until then so their mother did not accuse them of spoiling Agnes’s education.

She had a talent for public speaking and had come second in a Hackney 'Speak Out Challenge' in 2009 with a speech on racism. She never got into gangs or fights. She was, her friends say, just “nice and bubbly.” The murder scene, a few minutes walk from the de Beauvoir estate where she lived, was covered with flowers.

Barry Herson, head teacher at Haggerston school, said: 'Agnes was a lively, vibrant and young woman with a bright future. 'We are very proud of her achievements and the wonderful way she represented the school.'

Sister Atinuke, 24, said: 'She was the bestest sister in the world. I could never ask for a friend like her.'

A London legal practitioner, Alloy Osondu Osuji, speaking to EMNnews last week appealed passionately to President Goodluck Jonathan to save the life of the youngster, who already has leant his lessons the hard way.

Michael’s life could be wasted within weeks unless the Nigerian government intervenes to show its disgust over the sentence, claimed by many to have been racially motivated. Michael was sentenced to death in Vietnam for transporting a small quantity of heroin last week. His Vietnamese wife was also sentences to life imprisonment, raising questions of racism and dislike for foreigners the so called substance claimed to be heroin was caught with the wife who was saaid to be acting on her husband’s behalf.

According to a court official, Michael and his common-law spouse Nguyen Thi Hai Anh, 27, were convicted on Tuesday in Ho Chi Minh City by an Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court. He was sentenced to death on March 22 for illegal transportation of hard drugs. The couple were arrested in December 2009. According to the report, Nduanya had asked his wife to collect about one kilogram of heroin from Cambodia and she was arrested at a Ho Chi Minh City bus depot after returning with the drugs.

Executions are carried out by a firing squad comprised of seven policemen. Six of the men fire rifles while the captain fires a final shot to the head from a handgun if required. The prisoners are blindfolded and tied to stakes at execution grounds in the suburbs of Vietnamese cities. Relatives of the condemned are not informed of the execution beforehand, but are asked to collect the prisoners belongings two or three days afterwards.

There are 29 capital crimes recognised in Vietnamese law, although drug trafficking accounts for the majority of executions there. Nine people were put to death in 2009 and just three in 2008. The Vietnamese legislature voted on the 17th of June 2010 to replace firing squads with lethal injections from July 2011, according to the VietnamNet online news service.

There were 80 death sentences and four executions last year in Vietnam, according to the tally. Most death sentences in the communist country are issued for drug and murder cases. Michael Ikenna Nduanya, 34, confessed that he had visited Vietnam in 2008 and had met Nguyen Thi Hai Anh, 27, from Dak Lak Province and they had since lived together as husband and wife.

That is not true, he has been in that relationship before we separated. In fact the day I found out about it, I confronted her over the phone and she reported me to him. He came to fight me because of that and later called his parents (Alhaji Azeez Akande, Tawa Oshodi) to come and pack me and my son out of the house.

Some ave alleged that she was the one who broke your marriage. Is this true?

Yes. She was the main reason along with issues with his family. All that ruggedman story was rubbish, I'm not even attracted to ruggedman cos he is like a brother to me. Aside that, his manager was feeding his parents false stories about me cos he wanted me out of the picture cos he thought I wanted his job and also his brother Dr Wale Akande convinced them I was after his property because I stopped the brother from continuing with building our house after noticing some monies where unaccounted for. Mind you I met my husband when he was struggling, none of his family members sent him then. We were staying in my family house and his apt with Jahbless in Ikorodu and I loved him regardless, so what property could I have been after? I toiled night and day with him so why would I want to cheat him. The parents would come to the house to fight me, yelling curses, trying to frustrate me out of the house, the mother tore my dress one day and I ran for mine and my sons safety. This caused a lot of tension in our relationship but instead of him to stand by me he ran to another woman.

What was your reaction to the twins news wen you heard it? Were you angry? Did you call him to ask about that news of a woman having a child for him?
Yes, I was understandably angry because from day1 he knows I don't want polygamy for my children if I can avoid it and also cos I felt he should have divorced me first and married her before engaging in such. Like what example is he setting for his son. Lastly I felt if he would impregnate anyone it should not be the woman who broke our home.

Why have you been quiet all this while about your marriage break up?
I tried very hard to protect him even when people rubbished me. I never said OK he was the one who messed up because I felt he would be wise and consider my sons interest, when taking life changing decisions that could affect Zion. A part of me wanted to believe he would never put his own bloods future at stake for cheap thrills. I changed my mind about talking when I read a recent paper and noticed his manager was already trying to twist things to make it look like he moved on and got someone pregnant cos I'm engaged, I'm NOT engaged, so I just felt enough is enough, I don't know why they must always bring my name up to justify their mistakes. I had to ask myself, Why am I protecting a man who continues to make me look bad to protect himself. No, I just felt I should protect him because I guess a stupid part of me still loved him and felt he would come to his senses and at least do right by my son even if we never reconcile. At the end of the day I'm human and have emotions too, guess I never predicted things would get this bad.

I can't say I was perfect, but I NEVER cheated on him. I was pregnant and later nursing the entire time we were married. Also, before I got married I knew what being loyal is, I also knew there is no way I would ever cheat on my husband. Its not my way. Yeah I would get angry when he cheated on me, I felt it was a normal reaction when you love someone and they are doing things to hurt you but still I never left him. The separation was not my idea. My son was 11 months old, a week before his 1st birthday, his parents threw us out. My son spent his birthday in a hotel. I was sitting in my house when his parents came, they packed my things and my sons things into my car, I have pictures I took as evidence and I drove off with my son to a friends hotel in VI where I stayed for 3 weeks. Meanwhile he was with Vicky in Abuja while it was happening.

Is it true you have asked for Divorce
Yes, I have. He is yet to file. If he is so sure he doesn't want to be married he should have no problems divorcing me. Allow me move on and give my son a family life he deserves.

Do u see room for reconciliation?
I am not God so I can't say yes or no but he has hurt me too deeply to just go back. It would take a lot of healing, although i've moved on forgetting the pains is not that easy. At the end of the day, only God knows where our future is headed.

Some accuse you of forcing yourself on him and that you are older than him and that he couldn't just say no
I never forced myself on him. He did all the chasing, even when I said I can't marry a musician, he never stopped, he kept assuring me that if he got famous he would not change and I trusted him. What people don't know is we got engaged in November 2007, even before Gongo Aso became a hit, some said its because I was pregnant, that is not true, I got pregnant 5 months after we picked a wedding date. I am not older than him, that report is also false. He is older than me.

Can you let us into how you fell in love wit 9ice? Who toasted who? Did you make the 1st move or he did?
He toasted me, I resisted in the beginning because I did not want a musician boyfriend, I later agreed because I felt he was sweet and sincere. How he changed so much is what I'm not sure of. Maybe bad advisers around him.

How did you feel when the news broke that you are dating ruggedman/ Did u ever date him?
I have said this hundreds of times, I Never dated Ruggedman, I was never caught with Ruggedman or any other man. At first I did not take it serious because I knew it was a lie. I've known ruggedman longer than any guy in the industry, we have always been friends but never dated. Till date, we have been and still are like brother and sister. That ruggedman story was a terrible attempt to destroy my reputation. I'm not loose, I don't sleep around, I don't jump from man to man, I know the consequences of cheating so why would I engage in it. Why would I build with a man, when I know I still want to play around. Why would I destroy my home carelessly. I'm not stupid. That makes no sense to me. I thank God I have a fighting spirit because I did not let the lies or insults bring me down.

How did u meet 9ice? For how long did you date before marriage?
I first saw him in Oct 2006, he came to back ruggedman up at Gbenga Adeyinka's Anniversary. We didn't hook up till the following year. I went back to the states and we would chat online and talk on the phone for hours. We got married in July 2008.

How true is the story that you were too overbearing on him?
I do not think I was overbearing. I wanted the best for him so yeah I may push him to strive for the best. I don't think that's a bad thing or something worth breaking a marriage over.

How come it didn't work out
It takes 2 to make a marriage work, if one party insists they don't want it to work it will cripple any effort made by anyone. The mistake I made was entering with my heart and not my head. I should have taken his family background seriously and made 100% sure he had the same family values as me.

I currently manage three artists; Adol, Zara and Olamide and all three are focused people. Olamide and Adol just released their albums titled Rapsodi and Orin, respectively. Zara is currently working on her debut album

Did you ever manage 9ice? How did you cope fitting the 2 roles?
I took care of his international relations as well as some PR. I did it because I wanted him to succeed not because he hired me or was paying me. Its what I love doing plus I was very passionate about his music so it came easy

Marrying a star means you coping with his female admirers. How did you cope?
Well, I'm in the industry as well so I know it comes with the territory. It didn't bother me so far he kept it professional.

(laughs) Toni is short for Antonia and Payne is my last name. My Yoruba name is Seun

How come you and his manager don't get along?
He disliked me because he felt I wanted his job. I believe it was ignorance disturbing him. I wasn't interested in his job. I just wanted to be helpful to the process by contributing my knowledge. Guess he knew he was horrible at his job hence the insecurities. For me I dint care who managed him so far the person was doing a great job.

When the news broke dat you were marrying 9ice in 2008 many felt you rushed him. Did you?
In 2008, no we did not rush. We were engaged before he got popular so because the marriage took place around the time people started appreciating him, they felt it was a new decision when it wasn't.

No, I was of age and so was he. We discussed it before, its just because everything was happening around the same time people wanted to know more about him. It wasn't a new decision at all or something that just happened. No.

(laughs) No, that is not true. My husband met her a few months before our separation. I believe in September 2009 or thereabouts. Her name is Vicky "Bukky" Godis. She works at ECOWAS in Abuja.

What did being a mother change in you

It made me more tolerant at the same time more protective. A mother son love is unique. Very special feeling.

Any regrets about how your marriage went?
In life there are always two sides to things. People never gave me a chance before judging me. I received so many insults, hate mail over something I did not do. It was painful knowing I was innocent yet a lot were quick to crucify me. I'll just say to those who judged me blindly, may God forgive you. An Osun State monarch, has been arrested and arraigned in an Osun State Magistrate Court for allegedly raping a corps member.

The royal father, who was arrested on March 28 was said to have forcefully had sex with the 23-years-old corps member at his Osogbo residence on March 25.
The monarch appeared before Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode on March 30. Curiously, the magistrate was said to have instructed that the court proceedings should not be made public. Nigerian born British wannabe hip-hop star Claudia Aderotimi has died after an illegal cosmetic procedure to enhance her bottom went tragically wrong. The university student, 20, flew to Philadelphia, US, for silicone jabs to increase the curve of her buttocks. But Claudia, of Hackney, East London, suffered chest pains after the injections and died in hospital. US cops are still investigating.

She wanted the jabs because she thought having a bigger bottom would make her FAMOUS, heartbroken pals say. Claudia was desperate to transform her image with cosmetic surgery so she could appear in music videos. Friends revealed her confidence had dipped after she was dropped from a previous promo because her “booty” was too small. But the £1,000 procedure, carried out in a budget Philadelphia hotel, ended in disaster when Claudia suffered agonising chest pains and died.

Talent scout Tee Ali met the university student – stage name Carmella London – when she filmed a video. He said she often wore special padded trousers to give the impression she had a shapelier backside. Tee said: “She was a dancer and choreographer. She loved to dance and had a drive to be famous. The problem was she didn’t have no butt, and she wanted a butt.
“She went to audition for one video shoot wearing fake booty pants and she got all the attention.
“But when they found out it was fake she didn’t get asked back.
“It’s such a shame. She’s a victim of all these girls trying to be perfect. She thought if she had a big booty she would have been in better videos and been more famous.”

Claudia is thought to have travelled out last November to have a buttocks enlargement op. She jetted off again with three friends to have top-up injections, which she was given last Monday.
Police said she and her pals checked into the cheap Philadelphia hotel to have the illegal procedure. But almost 12 hours after receiving the injections in her rear she began complaining of chest pains and was rushed to hospital, where she died at 1.32am on February 8th, 2011.

It is suspected she may have been injected with industrial silicone normally used as a sealant instead of the more expensive variety usually used for legal breast enlargements. It is also thought the substance was mistakenly injected into a vein. US cops are seeking the “doctor”, who left after giving the jabs in room 425 of the Hampton Inn hotel, near Philadelphia airport.

Some reports claimed the suspect was a “transgendered” woman – a man living as a female.
Claudia’s sister Toomi said her family, from Nigeria, were deeply shocked and had known nothing about her plans for surgery.
Toomi said: “She said she was going to the US but didn’t say why – we thought it was a holiday.
“What has happened is a huge shock. Her mother is very ill and is taking this very badly.”
The family is speaking to the Nigerian Embassy in the US about arrangements for releasing Claudia’s body, which was identified by the Delaware County Medical Examiner. The official did not list the cause of death pending an autopsy and further inquiries. Toxicology results are expected within six weeks. Claudia, of Hackney, East London, and also known as Claudia James, was 12 days from her 21st birthday.

She posted a poignant Tweet shortly before the jab, telling pals: “I’m gooonneeeee so faR away.”
A source said Claudia spent £1,000 on the jabs while one friend paid £1,100 for a hip-enhancing procedure. It is not known if the doctor was licensed. Her three pals remained in America yesterday having been quizzed by cops.

OOU boils as students lock out VC, workers

Tension rose in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State as hundreds of students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University continued their protest.
The students barricaded the gates to the temporary and permanent sites of the institution, preventing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wale Olaitan, other management staff and non-academic staff from entering the campuses.

The students were said to be protesting the unending strike by the academic staff of the institution over the failure of the state government to pay the salaries and allowances of the staff for months.

It was learnt that after the meeting of the OOU chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, where the management of the institution failed to resolve the six-month-old strike of the lecturers, the students started their protest.
Confusion has continued about the directive by the Governing Council of the institution to the students to resume academic activities, which was anchored on the premise that the lecturers had been paid three months salary arrears.

The lecturers, however, refused to resume lectures, claiming that the management had only paid one month salary, dashing the hope of the students, who had stormed the school in anticipation of resumption of academic activities.

It was learnt that the protest started at the permanent site of the university after the chairman of ASUU in the school, Dr. Adesola Nasir, addressed the students on the stalemate in the lingering crisis between the academic staff and the school’s management.

An official of the Non-Academic Staff Union in OOU, who craved anonymity said on the telephone that the students decided to express their anger when it was clear that one of the parties had been deceiving them on the state of the strike by ASUU.

“After they were addressed by the ASUU chairman to the effect that the strike could not be called off as the school still owed the lecturers, the students mobilised themselves to the canteen, where they found some lecturers enjoying their drinks. They chased the lecturers away from the canteen,” he said.

A student in the Department of Economics, identified simply as Wale, told sources that the students heard that the school had secured a loan to off-set its indebtedness to the lecturers, expressing surprise that the ASUU members had not been paid.

“We went to the banks in Ago and Ijebu-Igbo and discovered that the school had only paid one month salary to the lecturers. We have no other option but to let the world know what the school was doing to us and our future. We shall continue this protest until they resolve their grievances and allow us to resume,” he said.

This is less than a year after her short lived marriage to Emeka Nzeribe hit the rocks. Her latest care giver is identified as Mofe Duncan. He is listed as a man about town based in Abuja. He is further tagged as into the world of production (the organisation and supervision of the making of movie, broadcast or recording…), with a sister as an Anchor person in a radio station.

Stella and Duncan are said to be very careful about making noise about the relationship. Despite this, insiders claim they have attended a couple of events under the pretext of being just friends. The most popular of these occasions is identified as the celebrated wedding of Olumide Akande and Dakore Egbuson.

Both Mofe and Stella reportedly arrived and left the reception held at K.F.A Events centre, Lekki Lagos together. Whether this latest romance would lead to the Alta is not sure yet. Those close to Stella however claim the actress does not appear to be in a hurry to rush into matrimony again. Friends maintain her short lived matrimony with Nzeribe- after a brief courtship is responsible for her new stance about marriage. Though it’s not clear what really led to break up of the marriage- insiders cite lack of proper knowledge of each other’s way as the origin.

Stella Damasus is the widow of late entertainment figure and friend of many, Jaiye Aboderin. She surprised many by remarrying four years after a couple of rumoured romances after her husband’s death. Shockingly the marriage barely lasted months and now she is said to be back again in love with Mofe Duncan. Stella has two children, Isabella and Agelica (both from her marriage to Jaiye).

However in the message that has a hint of anger, she wondered why it is only her romances and not other achievements that are usually celebrated.

Women March Through Streets in Jos To Protest Killings

The central Nigerian city of Jos was brought to a standstill as thousands of women dressed in black marched through the streets to protest the continuing violence in Plateau State.

The women, some of whom were half-dressed in a cultural sign of deep mourning and desperation, marched to the state governor’s official residence in Jishe, where they also denounced discrimination against Christians in northern Nigeria and called for the military forces stationed in Jos, which are viewed as biased, to be replaced by the mobile police.

The group’s spokesperson Rhoda Awang said, ‘Women are killed and children are killed. Pregnant women are killed and the babies cut out of their wombs. We have local chiefs in all the 17 Local Government Councils. Where are they and what are they doing? We have former governors, where are they? Where is Yakubu Gowon (the former Nigerian President who is from Plateau State)? If the people are killed in the state who will they rule over?”

The women’s anger was further fuelled by the deaths of a woman and child during an attack on a village in Vom on the previous night, and they made clear their rejection of any federally instituted state of emergency in Plateau State. They also called on Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang to relocate Jos’s Motor Park and the Vegetable Market from the Bauchi Road and Farin Gada areas, as several non-Muslims have disappeared there.
