The Bee Gees - 70's Portrait

The Bee Gees are a musical group which originally comprised three brothers: Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their 40-plus years of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s and early 1970s and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The brothers co-wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.

Born in the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived their first few years in Chorlton, Manchester, England, then moved in the late 1950s to Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia, where they began their musical careers.
It is not known how Captain Smith died on the night of the sinking. Robert Ballard's book, The Discovery of the Titanic, and historians alike claim that Smith was on the bridge at 2:13 AM, 7 minutes before the final sinking and went down with the ship. Some sources state that Smith quietly wandered off to the ship's wheelhouse, while others say he was actively present in the radio room. Working near Collapsible B, Junior Marconi Officer Harold Bride reported seeing Smith dive into the sea from the open bridge minutes before the final plunge began. One story states he carried a child to the overturned collapsible B after the sinking and swam off to freeze in the water, but according to historians featured in the A&E Documentary Titanic: Death of a Dream, that story is generally considered romantic fiction.
We're having a lovely time here in Southern Africa. We've spent a few days enjoying watching the animals from open jeeps. We've been very lucky as we have seen a lot of animals including leopard and lion. We also visited Victoria Falls - an amazing sight, Take Care -

El Djem is famous for its amphitheatre (often incorrectly called "a coliseum"), capable of seating 35,000 spectators. Only Rome's Colosseum (about 45,000 spectators) and the ruined theatre of Capua are larger. The amphitheatre was built by the Romans around 238 and was probably mainly used for gladiator shows and chariot races.

Until the 17th century it remained more or less whole. From then on its stones were used for building the nearby village of El Djem and transported to the Great Mosque in Kairouan, and at a tense moment during struggles with the Ottomans, the Turks used cannons to flush rebels out of the amphitheatre.

The ruins of the amphitheatre were declared a World Heritage Site in 1979.
The Douglas Avenue Sculpture Series adorns the sidewalks of downtown Wichita, Kansas, adding a touch of humor, conversation, and special interest to driving through downtown Wichita. Wichita is also known as the "Air Capitol of the World" because of its aircraft factories.
Placed in the late 1990's, there are 31 whimsical bronze sculptures by Washington artist Georgia Gerber on Douglas Avenue.

The largest sculpture is a recreation of a dimestore counter, placed in Lewis Reflection Square Park, which was once the site of a F. W. Woolworth store. Now some people sit at the counter and eat their lunches.
Budva is a coastal town in Montenegro. As of 2011 it has a population of around 18,000 people. The coastal area around Budva, called the Budvanska rivijera, is the centre of Montenegro's tourism, and is well known for its sandy beaches, diverse nightlife, and examples of Mediterranean architecture.

There is vast archaeological evidence that places Budva among the oldest urban settlements of the Adriatic coast. Substantial documentary evidence provides historical references dating back to the 5th century BC.
The Admiralty building is the former headquarters of the Admiralty Board in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The building you see now was re-built in the nineteenth century to support the Tsar's maritime ambitions.

It has a gilded steeple topped by a golden weather-vane in the shape of a small ship and is one of the city's most conspicuous landmarks. The spire is the focal point of old St. Petersburg's three main streets - Nevsky Avenue, Gorokhovaya Street, and Voznesensky Avenue - underscoring the importance Peter I placed on Russia's Navy.
Blonde d'Aquitaine is a breed of beef cattle originating in south west of France. They were predominantly work animals until the end of the Second World War. This resulted in their muscle development, hardiness and docility. They were always hardy lean animals with light but strong bone structure.

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt (October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919) was the 26th President of the United States (1901–1909). He is noted for his exuberant personality, achievements, as well as his "cowboy" persona and robust masculinity. His achievements as a naturalist, explorer, hunter, author, and soldier are as much a part of his fame as any office he held as a politician.

- - - - - - - - -

President Roosevelt in his office.
The President's private office, in which President Roosevelt spends most of his working hours, is located in what is known as the Executive Office Building, a small structure connected with the White House.
This is an illustration from the book 'Tierisch Unter Strom by Peter Gut. It is a book where, from what I understand, animals test machines. A cat rides fan blades like a carouse, and as in the postcard above, zebras test the catapult power of a toaster. It is the animals way of braking the same old routine.
