At noon on October 15, we will screen at the San Marco Theatre as part of the Jacksonville Film Festival with a director Q & A to follow.

We will also be screening at the Naples International Film Festival, which takes place November 3-6. We’ll announce our exact screening date and time as soon as it becomes available.

First, the Central Florida Film Festival will screen us in competition this Saturday, September 3, 4:40pm, and Labor Day (Monday, September 5), 2:25pm. Admission is $10, and the screenings will take place at West Orange 5 Cinemas, 1575 Maguire Road # 109, Ocoee, FL 34761-2984. We could really use your vote!

Then, on Friday, September 9, at 7pm, we’ll be the opening night film at the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival, located at the Premiere Theaters, 101800 W Hibiscus Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32901. John and I will be in attendance for our big homecoming. Hope to see old friends there!

Well, the Florida Film Festival has come and gone, and with two great screenings under our belt, I’m pleased to say our premiere was a huge success.

Our opening night was met with thunderous applause, a great Q & A, and a rave review from The Daily City:

The story is beautifully set to the music of Jason Kupfer of The Pauses, though the silent spans of the movie provide a thoughtful intensity to the depth of the characters’ actions and thoughts. Chris Worley, in his debut film, portrays Jason with passion and anguish alongside the talented cast. An emblematic and true-to-life piece, UCF Department of Film Interim Chair, Steve Schlow poignantly stated at the premiere that the director had indeed “climbed a mountain” with the making of this film. No relationship is perfect, but the moral of this story seems to be that if there is enough love between two people, then “anything is possible.” Bravo Andrew, A Beautiful Belly is a beautiful movie.

I’m extremely proud of my cast and crew for bringing this film to fruition and thankful to the Florida Film Festival for selecting us to premiere at this year’s festival. We had a great time!

Almost four years ago, the germ of the idea that became A BEAUTIFUL BELLY first planted itself in my brain. Today the film will make its world premiere at the 20th Annual Florida Film Festival. We want to once again thank everyone who supported us through this process to get here, and we hope to see as many of you as possible today and at our encore screening tomorrow.

If you spend one day at the Florida Film Festival, it’d be tough to pick a better day that today. Here’s what’s on our agenda:

• 1:30pm @ Regal: Florida Shorts - The Best of Brouhaha. We won’t actually get to make it to this, but we strongly urge people to support this screening.

A BEAUTIFUL BELLY was the very first film to sell-out of advanced tickets at this year’s Florida Film Festival. Since advanced ticket sales closed on April 2, fans have been clamoring for an additional screening.

The ORLANDO SENTINEL says that strong performances “and sharp production values are the hallmarks of A BEAUTIFUL BELLY,” a “racy rumination on sex, love, marriage and Bible study” that defies convention.

One of the very first features ever to be shot on the Canon 5D DSLR, A BEAUTIFUL BELLY tells the story of an unplanned pregnancy and a hasty marriage, as an aspiring children’s entertainer (Chris Worley) and his bar-tending wife (Lauren Brown) are forced to confront difficult choices about their future.

Written and directed by University of Central Florida film instructor Andrew Kenneth Gay and featuring original music by Jason Kupfer of Orlando-based indie band The Pauses, A BEAUTIFUL BELLY is one of the most in-demand features at the 20th Annual FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL. Advanced tickets to the world premiere sold-out two weeks prior to the screening, forcing the addition of an encore.

Additional tickets to the Enzian premiere will be released 15 minutes before the scheduled showtime, so arrive early! The Producers will also raffle prizes and give-away free ice cream sandwiches to those standing in line.
