Ok. You have a nice website selling in demand products or you have join some hot affiliate program in year 2008 and want potential customers to visit your website or generate some free traffic.

After doing some research, you find something called Article Marketing.
So what is this article marketing and how you can make use of this technique to bring traffic to your website or visit your affiliate link?

If you get the defination from web dictonary, you might get something like this:

Article marketing: A form of marketing or advertising method that involves posting articles you have written or that have been written for you, on one or more article directory sites on the Internet. Others may then republish your articles for their blog, website or ezine resulting in driving traffic to your website.

In more lay man terms, it means telling other people of your website by writing an article.

Article marketing is one of the most powerful techniques if use correctly because it generates a lot of back links to your website (means many website have connection back to your website).

After writing your article, you can then put your website link at the end of the article and submit your article to article directories.

An example of such article is the one that you are currently reading now! :)
But please do not promote commercial services or products like this article when submiting to free article directory. It should purely base on information.

Ok, here is the simple steps for article marketing:

1) You write or get some useful articles related to your website or services.
2) Put a link at the end of the article that lead visitors to your website.
3) Submit your article to free article directories such as ArticleGold.com or Goarticles.com
4) Repeat step one until you build steady traffic flow.

Of course, with the help of some tools, you can increase your article marketing effectiveness many times and allow you to have more time to write more articles or apply other marketing techniques.

1. Determine your products or services and then create useful information for your potential customer. Eg if you are selling cars, you might want to write review about latest car or write an article on how to buy a dream car with easy installment...etc

2. Be sure your article has catchy headline that will pull your readers attention, typically you only have a few seconds to capture a person attention, so make sure you can let people know why your article is benefit to them in your headline.

3. Keep your article brief. If possible, keep it between 450-750 words. Article with less than 450 words may not have enough points to back up your statements and anything over 650 words may overkill or contain irrelevant information.

4. Leave enough white space to give the reader's eyes a break.

5. Do not promote commercial services or products in your article.

6. Do not put link at all in the body of your article. Most free article directory do some links in the body of your article provided it is not commercial products or redirect links, however it is best to avoid that and just putting your website links.
