So the second battle at the Knell (the ancient ghost keeping society) headquarters against Neos which takes place in the second book (Betrayal) was devastating to the Ghostkeeping community. This book picks up not too long after that with Emma, Bennett and her fellow Ghostkeepers picking up the pieces of what is left behind after the attack and try to find another way to defeat the evil Neos. This is not an easy task since everything seems to be falling apart and everybody seems to be going their own way. Then of course when they decide on a plan they always seem to be a day late and a dollar short of figuring out what Neos next move is.

In this book the top priority is to find Neos ashes which are located in Thatcher the school in which Emma, Natalie, Lukas, Sara, and Harry attend. The pressure is on and they are adamantly searching for the hiding spot of the ashes when the situation goes from bad to worst as the students at the school start getting possessed by ghost. This just adds to Emma’s never ending list of worries. So know she not only has to watch out for any possessed friends at school, she must deal with the realty that she may lose the love of her life to the addiction he has to a Chinese herb Asrum, the fact that Natalie and Lukas seem to always be preoccupied with each other, her parents and brother never being around, and living with The Sterns (Bennett‘s parents) who seem to blame her for their daughters death and their son’s addiction. Poor Emma is just overwhelmed with loneliness, grief, guilt and most of all responsibility.

The thing I like best about this book are the characters and the interactions between them. I find Emma inspirational with how strong, independent, and caring she is. I have to say that Bennett has worried be from the beginning but he totally redeems himself at the end of this book. Natalie has so much spunk and sassiness to her its hard to believe she has any insecurities. Lukas is one powerful hottie I can’t get enough of. Coby is a sweetheart with no end to his selflessness. Sara is someone you can always treasure and count on as a friend. And then there is Harry. Harry is my favorite. He always makes you laugh when you want to cry. Always around when you need him. He’s witty. He’s gorgeous. He’s rich. He is absolutely freakin hilarious. I’m totally in love with him!

The ending was such torture! My eyes are going to be puffy for days. I’m never good at good byes and one in particular had me sobbing. If you are looking for a unforgettable ghost story with not stop action make sure to put this on your TBR pile. You won’t regret it!

My POV

After reading Geek Girl by Cindy Bennett and loving it so much I bought this book soon after. Heart on a Chain is a very moving and powerful story about a 17 year old, Kate who is abused by her mother, neglected by her father and bullied by all of her classmates.

Throughout this book my emotions volleyed from cried my eyes out to wanting to do some physical damage to all of Kate's predators. She literally had no one to turn to and poor Kate couldn't catch a break anywhere until Henry moved back to town after being away for six years. I was so sad to see how hard it was for her to trust anyone even Henry. Which of course, I don't blame her for in the least but it was so heart breaking to see how alone she felt.

The story gets pretty intense when her home life get worst and Kate ends up with horrific injuries at the hands of her mom not once but twice. Most of this book was so hard to read due to all the bulling and hateful things that happen to Kate. It’s unimaginable how this kind of things really does happen in the real world.

By the end of Kate's story she is still dealing with self-worth issues which leads to her feeling as thought she has no choice but to leave everything behind even Henry. But Henry is persistent in making himself a permanent member of her life even if he has to take drastic measures.

I feel that the ending was perfect, peaceful and hopeful. This is one story I will not forget any time soon. If any of you have read Unlovable by Sherry Gammon you might want to grab this book. It’s definitely worth read.

Wow this book was CRAZY good!! Extremely addicting. An absolute MUST read. I devoured this book with in a day and couldn’t get thought it fast enough.

Abby Abernathy would like to leave her old life behind but it seems that no matter how far she runs or what she does it seem to catch up with her. Trying to live a “normal” life she moves away with her best friend America to attend Eastern University together. Life seems to be going as planned until Abby catches the eye of the unattainable Travis Maddox.

She want’s absolutely nothing to do with him but he is relentless in his pursuit to get to know her better. At first I think he is simply curious about her resistance to his charms but his interest in her soon becomes much more then curiosity. After getting to know her he regards her with respect and love which is totally different to how he regards all the other women throwing themselves at him. Abby and him become best friends and he is totally into her but she is persistent in her goal of staying away from the life that Travis leads. Gambling for money from his fights in The Circle she just doesn’t see how a future with him will work out.

I did find my self a little scared at times with how obsessed and possessive Travis gets with Abby but I can understand that this is the first time he actually wants to be with someone longer than one night and not knowing how to handle what he feels. Through out the book he struggles to deal with his strong emotions towards Abby and he gets himself under control a little better closer to the end.

There are tons of fun and crazy parts in the book as the story unfolds but the scenes where Abby and Travis are “together” are truly unforgettable. The way they feel about each other is epic, wonderful and extremely passionate. This is one romance you don’t want to miss out on.

This is one of the craziest, sexiest and most exciting romances I have read, EVER! My heart races just thinking about it. If you are a fan of Simone Elkeles or Jenniffer Echols you will LOVE Jamie McGuire.

What a great book!! An absolute must read! It's so heartbreaking, so beautiful, and so much fun. I loved it!

Jennifer “Jenn” has learned to live each day by shutting out her emotions, not letting anyone get past her defenses and acting out. She is a foster child due to one parent in jail and the other in the grave. Her story is so tragic and damaging I can understand why she is the way she is.

Throughout the book she suffers from low self esteem, trust issues and always thinks someone wants something from her if given anything. Stuck in a bad cycle where life just gets stale and uninspiring with drugs and alcohol she makes a bet that she can turn Trevor ,one of the schools “geeks”, into a bad boy.

Trevor “Trev” is a A+ Student, Sci-Fi loving, respectable young man. He has had the polar opposite family life compared to Jen‘s. With loving parents and a supportive family behind him Jen gets to see what it’s like to have a normal family. After meeting his family and spend some time with them she starts feeling guilty about the bet. This is when lines start to blur and things get confusing for Jen because at first she see him as a target only but he slowly grows into someone she can count on and trust. This is extremely rear for her.

As their relationship grows the terribly secret (the bet) that means nothing to her by the end of the book shatters what she has built with Trev. Upset and downhearted he doesn’t know how to forgive her because he trusted her and now feels betrayed. This was a such a hard part of the book to read.

So, the bet doesn’t go quite a planned and you get to see that underneath her hard shell Jen is just a confused and curious beautiful young woman looking for a way to get through life without any more heartache. This is such an inspiring story about love, trust, and overcoming your fears.

My POV
This is a dystopian that it not too far off into the future where chocolate is illegal, New York has deteriorated and the Statue of Liberty is a detention center. There are many references to many current trends and I picture the characters wearing the 1920’s style fashion of clothing. Well, at least Anya and Win with all his hats.

Five Mafioso families are in control of the Chocolate manufacturing around the world and one of them is the Balanchine family. Since Leoynd Balanchine the former head of the family from New York was murdered and a deadly car accident killed her mother, 16 year old Anya Balanchine is drowning in responsibility. She has now taken charge of caring for her grandmother who is on her death bed, her mentally delicate older brother, and traumatized little sister. Then she is accused of the attempted murder of her ex-boyfriend. With such grand issues to deal with she has no time for a boyfriend in her life but when Win comes along she fights the connection between them for as long as she can. But it’s not long until things fall in to place and she ends up giving in to her feelings for him. The only thing is he’s not just any body. He’s the son of Charles Delacroix, second in command in the DA’s office.

There are so many things I liked about this book but what I enjoyed the most is how much Anya loves and takes care of her family. She is a very mature and responsible young lady. In which she has to be in order to keep her sibling safe. She has never been interested in following in her fathers footsteps in being the head of the Balanchine Family but as time goes on it looks like the she is probably the best candidate for the position. The only thing is, Charles Delacroix is running for office and he can’t have his son in a relationship with a mobster so he makes her an offer she can’t refuse.

I feel that Win and Annie’s chemistry is strong and their relationship is something to fight for. But, I don’t know if Win is willing to forgive Anya for what she has done in order to keep her family safe. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that he does. Gabrielle ended this book with a serious cliff hanger and I need to know what happens ASAP!

My POV

Paradise was a short read with a big bang. It’s about ambitions, dreams, and passion. It has interesting characters with an ambitious story line.

Paisley has struggled to keep her secret of playing drums for the Waylon Slider Band for a while because her mother just wouldn’t understand. But she realizes that even if her dreams become realized you can’t complexly enjoy what you love doing if you cant share the experience with your loved ones.

Mom (Diane) is high strung and determine to get her girls out of Prosper County on to bigger and better things. She has the best intentions by setting high goals for her daughters and pushing them to succeed. The one thing she doesn’t realize is that she is pushing them away. Pushing them to lie, sneak and hid what they are truly passionate about and its frustrating to see.

Gabe “Paradise“ is a super hot, super talented, Columbian, accordion “prince” that just moved to Prosper County from Paradise, Texas. He is not only Paisley’s love interest but plays a huge roll in getting each member of the band to reach beyond their comfort zone and gain confidence in themselves.

I was not expecting how the book ended, at all, and my breath was literally knocked out of me. It was devastating but definitely hopeful. It truly is a great story.

My POV
This story was very romantic with great characters and interesting plot. I felt it was a fast paced easy read which I didn’t want to end.

Justin is the ideal boyfriend/husband. He’s kind, loving, caring, and thoughtful. Everything a girl wants in a man. The only problem is that he is Ty’s best friend. Oh and he also has a big secret. I for one think it’s a wonderful secret but he looks down on his ability because pass events have made him wary of it. He has had a rough past with having a suicidal mother over the death of Cecilia, his baby sister and has been abandoned by his father after that same tragic event. He is raised by his aunt and uncle after his mother is put in a psychiatric hospital to keep her safe from herself. Justin is now a Coast Guard rescuer which is very fitting and appropriate since he has the ability to manipulate water. He is also very much in love with Mandy and has been from the first moment her saw her.

Mandy is a realist who is trying to get over her ex-fiancé Ty who left her after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been months since her last treatment when she runs into Justin at the hospital that she works at. She is nervous and wary that the sight of him will bring back memories of Ty but the unexpected stop turns out to be a pleasant surprise her.

This was a very pleasant story that I actually read twice since I like it so much. I would recommend this book to any adult supernatural/paranormal romance junk since it does have some pretty steamy scenes.

Day 2

While doing research for the Tantalize series Cynthia Leitich Smith stumbled upon a salon by the name of WET that is operated by a vampire society that drinks blood exclusively from virgins.

Day 3
What PARANORMAL being do you LOVE to read about most (Vampire, Zombie, Werewolves,Ghost..etc.) and what book do you thing best represents them?

I recently found the Soul Screamer series by Rachel Vincent and fell in love with

Bean Sidhes (Banshees). It's a great series and its something different.

Day 4

What book have you read that has scared, grossed or disturbed you to?

I don't deal with real life horrific issues real well and that is why I read paranormal/supernatural books. But the most distributing books for me are the ones that have any sexual abuse or serial killer themes to them so I steer VERY clear from those. One recent book a friend lent me to read was Dean Koontz Odd Thomas and I couldn't sleep without my light on for a while.

Day 5

Have you ever been on a ghost, vampire, haunting, or any supernatural tour? If so how was it? If not, would you want to and which one?

I have not been on any tours but was planning on going to one in Galveston these past few weeks but it didn't work out. I do however plan on going to New Orleans and doing a couple there.

Day 6

What is your favorite Halloween candy and which character would you say is your favorite "Eye Candy"?

My favorite Halloween candy is Recess peanut butter cups and as of right now Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster is my "EYE CANDY". My review of this book will be coming soon. It is so SO HOT!

Day 7

If you could posses a magical talent what would you

want it to be?

I would like the ability change species (shapeshifter). That would be cool.

Day 8

What forbidden romance has left you breathless?

There are so many to I will give you some one my favs...

Do you believe in reincarnation and would you like to view your past lives?

I do believe in reincarnation and would LOVE to see my past lives if only to not repeat history in any mistakes I've made.

Day 10

Has there ever been any weird or mysterious things going on in your town or area?
There has never been anything ,of note, going on in my neighborhood but there are always little things going on in my house. Like lights turning on and off on there own and I sometimes see shadows in the edge of my vision. The shadows are probably something coming from my imagination but my hubby and son have witnessed the lights.

What is the one thing you love about Halloween?

I think the one thing I absolutely look forward to each year are the costumes. They are so much fun to see.

Can you please share one memorable moment since becoming an author?

The first time an author meets her editor is an exciting time! I flew up to NYC with one of my cutest outfits, all ready and excited and nervous to make a good impression. Our meeting was scheduled in the afternoon, so I spent the morning book-shopping. Well, I was lugging around a lot of books, so I hurt my shoulders. Then, I got a blister from a shoe that was comfortable back home, but NOT ready for NYC. Then, to top it all off, it started to pour rain and I got soaked. But my hotel was really close to my publisher's building, and the rain had let up. Was I going to spend my hard-earned book and food money on a TAXI?

Foolishly, I was not. I packed a bag with stuff I needed to take and set off, but somehow the walk to the building suddenly seemed ENDLESS. By the time I got there, I was fidgeting with my bag on aching shoulders, limping from my shoes (my foot was, by this time, bleeding), and rather damp from the light rain that somehow added up on my hair as I went. My editor's reaction was more "Oh dear" than "Nice to meet you!"

Luckily, she had band-aids in her office, and we made it to dinner. =)

Hints: She sketches her characters.

My POV
This was such a great book! I think Holly has found her niche in writing about taboo subject matters and I love it. There isn't many who are brave enough to tackle these subject but she does it and she does it well. This is the second published book I've read of Holly's and it deal with abusive relationships and homeless teens. I can't say much without giving away the whole story but I don't want to simplify it either by mentioning those two subject alone. This book deals with many difficult topics in which provokes your deepest emotions leaving you breathless and gasping for more.

When starting the book I immediately felt protective of Joy, the main character. You could feel how desperate she was to get out of her situations from the first page. It was really sad that she felt that she had no other choice other that to leave her whole family behind and that she had no one to turn to for help. Once she heads to Seattle to find her mystery man ,Creed, (that she only met once in passing) she quickly finds out that it is not so easy trying to find a homeless boy in a big city. But she sticks it out for a couple of days before he turns up giving Joy an unexpected and unwelcome greeting. Joy went through a lot living on the streets but as you get deeper into the book (and even to the end) you get to see how naive she still is after a couple of weeks living on the street. Of course she is not as innocent as before she voluntarily became homeless but you see what her companions have resorted to in order to survive and it's a much more dangerous life then Joy's.

This book is definitely an eye opener and one of the best books I've read this year. Holly Cupala is an author you should NOT pass up while scanning the isle of the bookstore because she's one of the best!

Can you please share one memorable moment since becoming an author?
You know how writers sometimes like to take revenge on people who've been mean to us by killing them off in books? Well, for one of my books, I decided I'd kill off a dentist who'd been a real jerk to me while I was sitting helpless in his chair. His name was relatively ordinary, so I figured it was a harmless enough way to have some fun at his expense. Fast forward a couple of months to when my editor read the manuscript . . . I got an email from my editor saying (in a joking manner), "Why did you kill my husband? What's he ever done to you?" I almost fell through the floor, embarrassed to death and laughing hysterically at the same time. I'd forgotten that my editor's husband had the same name as my jerk of a dentist. Needless to say, I changed my victim's name. But I still laugh about it today.

Hints: She is a cross over author who writes young adult, urban fantasy, and paranormal novels.

**About yourself**

What has been the spookiest thing that ever happen to you?

I recently stayed in a haunted hotel while on book tour. I woke up several times to find a filmy figure of a man starting at me from the end of my bed. While I was definitely creeped out, my exhaustion was stronger, so I asked him to go away and he did. It wasn’t until the next morning when I realized just how freaky that was—and after talking with others, I learned I wasn’t the only one who’d had that experience.

What has been your all time favorite Halloween costume to wear? (please provide a picture if possible)

When I was 5, my mom made me an amazing flapper costume. The dress was covered in aqua colored fringe, I wore a glittery silver head band with a fluffy aqua feather, my shoes were silver as well, and I got to wear shiny, pink Avon lipstick. I remember loving that costume so much I wanted to wear it everyday. I wish I had a picture of it!

What are your top 3 scariest movies picks? Why?

Listed in the order I first saw them:

Psycho—After seeing that, taking a shower was never the same.

The Exorcist—A friend and I watched this one (back when were teens—unbeknownst to our parents). We had nightmares for weeks, and had to sleep with the lights on! Lesson learned. 

Silence of the Lambs—The first time I saw it I was terrified. I’ve seen it many times since and it still creeps me out.

Will you dress up this year? As who or what?

Well, this year I’m on deadline, so there’s not much time to plan, which means I’m going as myself, in my own clothes—though I will be wearing a carnival mask I picked up on a recent trip to Venice, Italy. My husband will do the same.

What is your favorite Halloween candy?

When I was a little kid, I was the youngest one on our street, and all the neighbors would buy king-sized Butterfingers for me as it was my favorite back then. It still holds a special place in my heart!

**About your books**

Give us a little background about each of your series?

The Immortals series is about two star-crossed lovers who come together again and again—across centuries—across lifetimes—only to be thwarted each time, until they finally uncover their true history, and reach for their intended destiny. It was inspired by the grief I experienced after losing several loved ones in a short amount of time and then almost losing my husband to leukemia. It got me thinking a lot about life and death, mortality and immortality, the soul's journey, the nature of love—all themes I explore in the books, and Ever and Damen’s story was born from there. There are six books in the series-- EVERMORE, BLUE MOON, SHADOWLAND, DARK FLAME, NIGHT STAR, & EVERLASTING. The Riley Bloom series, features the younger, ghostly sister from The Immortals series. I had so much fun writing her character in EVERMORE that she ended up getting a much bigger part than I’d planned. She just kept showing up—usually in some crazy costume and wig—and I kept allowing it because she was so much fun to have around. So when my publisher approached me to write a spin-off series featuring Riley, I jumped at the chance, and I’m so glad I did because writing her series has been an absolute blast! RADIANCE, SHIMMER, & DREAMLAND are in stores now—WHISPER will be released on 04.24.12!

I’m now working on my new YA series, SOUL SEEKERS, that takes place in New Mexico and features lots of magick, themes of shamanism, and a really hot romance! FATED, the first book is set to debut in May 2012, to be followed by ECHO, MYSTIC, & HORIZON in 2012/13.

In any of your books, was there any scene that you really liked that didn’t make it in the final copy?

I tend to write pretty lean and tight, so I don’t have any deleted scenes.

I see you have a new series that will start coming out next year named the Soul Seekers. What can we expect from that series?
I’m having an absolute blast writing SOUL SEEKERS, creating new characters and building a whole new supernatural world. It’s a young adult paranormal, about a sixteen-year-old girl who, as the daughter of an on-location makeup artist, is used to a vagabond, movie-set existence until she begins having terrifying visions her grandmother recognizes as the call to her ancestral legacy, and summons her to New Mexico where she teaches her to walk among the Upperworld and the Lowerworld and trains her in the magick she’ll need to battle the malevolent forces that have lain dormant for years but are now rising again…Oh, and of course there’s are friends, enemies, demons, and a guy so hot my fingers get scorched just typing him!

**Let’s talk characters**

Which character was the most fun to write?

Riley is an especially fun character to write—partly because she’s such a bundle of contradictions. She’s over-confident, sassy, more than a little bit snarky, and not one bit happy about dying just shy of her 13th birthday—but she’s also incredibly vulnerable in the way she misses her old life and her sister. Also, her being dead means she has no boundaries—she can travel anywhere she wants and deal with ghosts from any period in history, which keeps the storylines fresh and fun.

Which character surprised you the most?

Ever Bloom from THE IMMORTALS series. I always knew she had inner strength, and was headed to seize her destiny in an amazing way—yet I was still blown away when I finished the final book, EVERLASTING. I felt like a proud parent who’d watched her child grow from a grief-stricken young girl, into a fearless young woman, committed to doing what’s right, despite everyone around her urging her to do the opposite in an attempt to keep her “safe.”

Pick one character and tell us what was the one thing you hated most to happen to him or her?

This is a huge spoiler for anyone who has not read as far as DARK FLAME—so please stop reading if that pertains to you . . .You’ve been warned!

Okay, ready? Ahem . . . I felt terrible about killing Roman. When I first created him, I was well aware of what motivated him, and I had great compassion for his journey. Still, when it came time to kill him off, I actually cried while writing that scene. He was always so much fun to write (as villains always are!), and I guess I’d grown fonder of him than I realized.

Halloween is around the corner. How are Ever and Damen going to celebrate the night? How about Riley?

Ever and Damen are still enjoying their new, mortal life, so I picture them snuggling on the couch together with a huge bowl of buttery popcorn (no more elixir!), and watching scary movies. While Riley will be quite busy—it’s a big night for haunting, so she’ll have her work cut out for her, with plenty of ghosts to crossover!

My weird little tidbit which happens to be true!

While doing research for The Immortals, Alyson Noël went under hypnosis to view her past lives.

Can you please share 3 things your fan probably don't know about you?

1. I still get super nervous and tongue-tied when I meet other
authors, and even though I always have these awesome introductions
worked out in my head, I usually say something really lame, completely
random, or just a series of caveman grunts. "Me like your books. Me
write too. Ooga ooga."

2. I would rather eat leaves than watermelon, watermelon flavored, or
anything that was even *touching* watermelon, but I let a blogger talk
me into doing it last year on video as a promotional stunt. That
footage is highly embarrassing. I will never eat watermelon again.

3. No one is allowed to touch me while I eat. I have this insanely
stupid fear where if someone touches me while I'm chewing, I'll choke.
Seriously. So if you ever see me in a restaurant, please don't move in
for the hug until I'm finished with my veggie burrito. :-)

Hints: The sea glass on the cover of her first novel symbolizes both the ocean itself and the hearts of those impacted by the death in the book, shattered after tragedy, never again whole, but transformed over time and the unending ways of the universe into something that’s still beautiful and unique.
