Soup. I love it because it usually takes 30 minutes or less, prep-to-table and I can throw together some buttermilk biscuits or simple cornbread muffins while the soup is cooking.  This one's a combo of some of my favorite Minestrone recipes. Dinner doesn't get much easier than this. Remember that "New Beginnings: College and Missionary Meals" category? This one qualifies.

I Pinned this recipe several months ago, and have made it a few times since. Love it.  We usually eat it up so quickly, I forget to take a photo. Perfect with fish tacos, enchiladas, or tortilla chips. It's simple and fresh, and everyone loves it.
Everyone except one 15 year old boy, who will remain nameless.

Christmas is over.
When Brookie was about 18 months old, we were driving through a neighborhood in Seattle, and the Christmas lights that once lit up the houses were few and far between.  I said something about missing the lights and about Christmas being "over".  All of a sudden, a little voice from the back seat yelled "CHRISTMAS IS NOT OVER!!!"  Twenty years later, our family still laughs

What was your holiday dinner assignment? A fruit platter? Does your mother in law think you can't cook?  I'm going to show you how to build a beautiful fruit platter. It looks way better than throwing fruit into a bowl, or just onto a plate. And it takes about two minutes longer.  Next time, she's going to give you a big girl cooking assignment, trust me.

This recipe comes from our dear friends and neighbors Jolene and Nick Cash. I could list pages of times they have had an impact on our family. They're ordinary people, just like you and me. They've taught almost all of my children in church.  Jo was a Young Women leader for Brookie during her teenage years. Nick served for years as the Primary Chorister, teaching our boys the love of music each

How can a cookie with only four ingredients taste SO good?
Curt  Cutler made his famous Mexican Wedding aka Snowball cookies at our holiday cookie class on Tuesday.
I'm a sucker for anything that resembles a shortbread cookie: one part sugar, two parts butter, three parts flour, no leavening. Oh, and a little powdered sugar to top it off.
Seriously, simplicity never tasted so good.

The holiday cookie extravaganza week continues. I know this isn't a cookie, but I love a little bit of chocolate on my holiday cookie tray. I under baked the brownie a bit and sprinkle with powdered sugar to give it a festive look. This treat comes from The Sweet Melissa Baking Book. It's based off a Julia Child recipe. I guess that says it all. If it's good enough for Julia, it's good enough

Tuesday morning at South Fork Hardware local baker and restaurant owner Curt Cutler from Cutler's Cookies taught a Christmas Cookie class. Cutler's has been a household name in Bountiful for over thirty years now.  Curt's mother started the business in the former 5 Points Mall in Bountiful.  What she started has grown into a family business that bakes cookies and cupcakes, and makes

I know you are probably pied out after Thanksgiving, but I thought it just wouldn't be right to keep this recipe for myself. Sheri taught Southern Side Dishes for the Holidays at South Fork in November, and made this pie. Everyone loved it. She's brought it to Pie Night several times and it always gets rave reviews. If you love pb and chocolate together, this is your pie.

Jo Murdock is one of my favorite people in the world!  Jo met her husband Dave at Disneyland when she was17 on the Carnation dance floor by the castle Move over Cinderella. They were married when she was 18. She is the most devoted mother of 8 children (7 living, one passed at birth).  Her daughter Lindsay once told me, "She's awesome...the bestest friend a girl could ask for. I'm truly blessed

Every year, I try out a new pie to go along with my traditional line up for Pie Night and Thanksgiving.
When I first read this recipe, I thought- this is it, the newbie for 2011. It's a combo of a few of my favorites: vanilla custard, chocolate custard, banana and whipped cream.  One of those recipes you read and know it's a winner. Oh my goodness. I was right. Again.

I'm signing off till
