The final Master Trek of the season will be held this Saturday at the Mesa Convention Center, so don’t miss it! Register today BEFORE late fees kick in and save $3 on your entry fee!!!

Congratulations to all the Arizona players who fared well at the Elementary National Championships in Nashville last weekend! You can click here to see a full list of the final standings – but the regular “Trekkers” who placed in the top 20 of their respective sections were:

Firstly, we’d like to wish a congratulations to all the winners of their respective sections at the AZ State Champs last weekend (click here for the full results), and wish good luck to any and all those competing at this weekend’s Governor’s Cup in Chandler! IM Daniel Rensch will be playing in a “Blindfold Exhibition” and giving a lecture at the Governor’s Cup on behalf of ChessKid.com!

The August International Master Trek Showdown is being sponsored by the Unity Chess Club, and Steven Kamp. The event is being hosted by the Chess Emporium.

When & Where:

August 24th-26th, 2012. Chess Emporium, 1835 E Elliot Rd Suite 103-104 Tempe Arizona 85284

Tournament Details:

1 Section — 2000 USCF minimum Rating required as of June 1st 2012 USCF Official Supplement. No exceptions!

Round Times:

Round 1 – 10am, Saturday August 25th
Round 2 – 4pm, Saturday August 25th
Round 3 – 10am, Sunday August 26th
Round 4 – 3:30pm, Sunday August 26th

Time control: Game in 90 minutes with a 30 second increment throughout.

Sets provided. Clocks not provided, please bring your own!

Entry Fee:

$75 by July 1st 2012; $100 by August 21st 2012.

Registration for this tournament is closed on August 22nd 2012!

Awards:

All players will be competing for 3 spots – with FREE Entry – to the August International Master Trek Challenge! Qualifying players will be competing against 3 International Masters in a Double Round Robin, Scheveningen Team Match.

Congratulations to International Master’s Joel Banawa and Shahin Mohandesi for sharing top honors (Co-Champions) at the 1st Annual ACE Chess Arizona State Championship. IM Mohandesi won the Armageddon Blitz Playoff Game to take home the first ever Norm Saba Trophy!
